I am fortunate enough to live about 4 hours from the Tillamook Cheese Factory, so our grocery store carry a wide variety of Tillamook products. I like pretty much all cheese, but cheddar is a favorite of mine. The flavor is very intense and pure. It makes fantastic grilled cheese, cheese sauce, and a snack! Yum...

For my neighbor Cathy and I, the week which we have just passed through was a dark and sometimes frustrating valley of muggy weather, wierd mechanical failures, plumbing problems and a mysterious invasion of ANTS -- so even though neither of us is employed in a 9 to 5 job, we were glad to see Friday come in hopes that next week will be better. We spent the afternoon driving around, doing a few errands, and capped off with dinner to take home from Applebee's. It just so happened that we parked by a door which said "Car Side" but we assumed that that was the entrance we would use to get to the take-out queue. Imagine our surprise when -- as we were unbuckling our seat belts -- a young waitress came bounding out to the car and handed us in menus! — What a luxury! Of course, there are times when it is nice to spend a few minutes in a restaurant but definitely there is also something to be said for being able to peruse one's menu in the privacy of...

At least until now because now I am hooked on Dove Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds, They are incredible. I go through two bags a week. And since they are dark chocolate and almonds both are helpful to your body in some way. Not ure I care in what way it just gives me an excuse to eat them.

We visited Friday's on a whim a few days ago, and again last night. I decided to try the fish tacos - I was pleased to see that they offer several more non-meat/chicken options than they used to. — —

Both times I ordered the fish tacos - the sauce, which is a lemon-dill flavor, sounded unusual but was amazing when combined with the crunchy fish and soft, warm taco as well as pico de gallo! It's definitely not low-fat (the fish is fried) it was very filling and delicious. You can cut the calories by not eating the chips that come with it (I do.) — —...

— Our family is a huge fan of the Tofurky roast and gravy, even our two year old son loves it. We first purchased this for Thanksgiving two years ago and it has been a part of every holiday and major gathering since. The Tofurky roast has a great taste and texture, similar to that of turkey but not so much that it would turn a veg*an off. The stuffing is tastey and light and fluffy. I found the meal to be very filling! The mushroom based gravy is great on the roast, but I like it on mashed potatoes more. The roast is extremely easy to prepare. There is a simple recipe on the box to make a mixture for basting, and you just pop it in the oven, with some veggies if you'd like...no cooking skills required. The only "con" is that Tofurky items are on the somewhat more expensive side; however, I feel they're worth the price. I've always been satisfied with every Tofurky item I've...

CyndiA says "Better for the cows - better for us - grass fed La Cense meat." about La Cense Beef Grass Fed Cows

I love to grill and love good meat. I was drooling for a whole day waiting to cook up my La Cense meat that came by UPS. I would have cooked it right up, but my son was working late, and the meat was well packed and frozen. — La Cense is 100% grass fed beef. This is the kind of meat I enjoyed when I visited the relatives in the Virginia mountains. Poppaw would always have a few cows for milk and for meat. — With grass fed beef, you have variations in flavor. It's like with other products like apples. The flavors reflect the areas - unless it's mass production like with grain fed beef. I'd been seeing some of the news about the grain fed cattle and how they were packed in small spaces and fattened up fast. Some of those stories were really awful. La Cense does offer another option. It's a ranch in Montana where the cows roam free and eat natural vegetation. The cows are not hit with preventive antibiotics. They don't rush "downer" cows...

Sometime during the 1980's I was in London celebrating another grand victory for my International Financial Witchcraft Division. We were on fire that year. Ever have one of those years? We were flying so high around the globe that we could have sold futures contracts on belly button lint, left the major multinational client smiling while lining our pockets with unconscionable fees. But I digress. We're here to talk about cheese. — Following an evening of absolute gluttony we capped our celebration with a couple of bottles of aged port and a fabulous cheese and fruit platter (oh, and some big fat Cuban cigars). — One of the cheeses on the platter was a blue veined cheese with a decidedly yellow creamy cast and a thick crust. Now I've been partial to Blues (bleus) for a long time. I made my approach, cut a small wedge and placed it on a pear. Moments after it entered my mouth I experienced bliss. — So while my guys...

I love cheese. I've always loved cheese. Of course, growing up, although there was always cheese in the house it was usually a very mild cheese. American, Sweet Muenster, Swiss or Cheddar was about as adventurous as my family got. — But as I grew up my tastes matured and I discovered bolder and more sophisticated cheeses. — All things Blue — — I remember my first reaction to Bleu Cheese was one of revulsion. Here was a cheese that just slapped me in the face hard. Who, I wanted to know would voluntarily eat this cheese? — No one could possibly predict that the Bleu Cheese family would come to be my favorite. Show me a blue veined cheese and I'll show you a very quickly disappearing piece of cheese. — The Brie Connection — I also love the smooth creaminess of Brie. For me, it is a perfect snack with crackers or a dessert on apple or pear slices. Mild and creamy, it also seems so at home on a sandwich with god...

I think that chocolate and pretzels are manna from heaven. Salty and Sweet with a crunch is my idea of a good time. —

However, when it was suggested that I consume chocolate with bacon, I thought the person who suggested it was insane. But since he offered to buy the bar from me (about $7.00) if I didn't like it, what did I have to loose. —

Her is what Vosges says about the Mo Bacon Bar: —

Breathe.. engage your five senses, close your eyes and inhale deeply. Be in the present moment, notice the color of the chocolate, the glossy shine. Rub your thumb over the chocolate bar to release the aromas of smoked applewood bacon flirting with deep milk chocolate. Snap off just a tiny piece and place it in your mouth, let the lust of salt and sweet coat your tongue. — —

Mo's Bacon Bar: applewood smoked bacon + Alder wood smoked salt + deep milk chicolate, 41% cacao. — —

Here is what I say. YUM YUM YUM. — —

Run, dont walk to...

San Francisco doesn't get much of a summer, but this week it's hit the 90s, and word is we're going into triple digits. Summer is well and truly here. Back in NYC, I had a tradition when summer hit - and those of you formt he East Coast know that summer is hot in the NYC area - of cutting my actual cooking down to a minimum. Who wants to stand around over a hot stove when it's 90 degrees out? — One of my old stand-bys during the hottest summer days is a classic sandwich: Italian or French bread, thick slices of very ripe tomato, a little extra virgin olive oil, and really ripe, strong feta cheese. It's an amazing sandwich - sossimple, so easy to throw together, yet so delicious and satisfying. It's got the carbs, the veggie (ok, technically a fruit...but you get my drift), the good fat, and the protein. — Yesterday I bit the bullet and bought soem feta cheese I'd been eyeing at the grocery store for ages: Parthenon Bulgarian Sheep's Milk Feta.
