purplecount says "shop around" about Aflac

When they came to my worksite it was very easy for me to see the "value" in their products. That held up until I checked the competition and had a claim to file.

Most of the companies that offered supplemental type products were in a different world as far as price. Some more than half the price. I think Aflac is so big because they appear to flood the market with "agents". I never saw the same agent twice. Our human Resources said they would have 3 different people call on the business every week. Even after we were an account.

I fell and broke my arm. First thing I did was attempt to call the person that had sold me the policy. They were no longer with the company. I found a number in the phone book. I was only able to get hold of a girl that answered the office phone. She was not an agent. She informed me it was my job to go online and file my own paperwork. REALLY!!! I am paying good money for a product that I assumed would have some degree of service. I was wrong.

I did get my claim...
...

NghtSkyyStarz says "USAA actually cares..." about USAA Banking and Insurance

This isn't a business that's out to take advantage of you or your money. Yes, they are still a financial institution, but the treatment that I have received here is superior to every other place I've done business with. I have banking, home and auto insurance with USAA and am happy with all their products and services even after having to file a few claims; something's got to be said for that. My only complaint is that transfers between my account here and other institutions don't process as quickly as I'd like them to on the receiving end, but that isn't anything USAA can do anything about I don't think.
...

Bryan-Carey says "AFLAC Insurance: Supplemental Insurance for Peace of Mind" about Aflac

Insurance is a necessary evil. Most insurance products offer nothing in return for your money except for peace of mind and many of these products do not offer enough protection when a crisis strikes. For those who could benefit from a little added peace of mind, the insurance industry brings us AFLAC Insurance, a company with dozens of different insurance policies for greater financial security.

Insurance Commentary:

I have held several different roles in accounting, finance, and management during my working career and AFLAC Insurance is a company I have grown to know quite well. I have served as the administrator of my company's AFLAC insurance plan in past job positions and I have dealt directly with AFLAC representatives. In general, my experience has been positive, but the overall picture with AFLAC Insurance does reveal a few blemishes, which is typical of many insurance companies.

Looking at the positive news first, AFLAC Insurance is a good place to turn when you want insurance...
...

alexsammons says "Always consider everything when choosing an insurer" about Farmers Insurance

I have had auto and home insurance with Farmers for three years. You don't need insurance until you need it. And when that time came, I was a bit disappointed. Most companies offer replacement value - Farmers offers depreciation value. When my vehicle was broken into in my driveway and my professional photo gear and notebook have been stolen, Farmers estimated the depreciated value to be less than half of the cost to buy the same equipment used on eBay. Price of my top of the line notebook was estimated to be $250.

On top of that, they were making me pay $8 per month in "draft fees", to cover automated bank drafting on my monthly premium payments. Structure of payments has been very strange and I never took the time to really break it all down - too complicated.

I switched to Nationwide insurance for all vehicles and home. They provided replacement cost, not depreciated cost. In addition to a much lower deductible on comprehensive and collision, I will also gain annual...
...

megatans says "Progressive has great online services!!!!" about Progressive

Progressive is a good solid company that offers several payment options and outstanding claims service to it's policy holders. Progressive offers several online options for those who don't have time to visit their local independent agent's office. Allows policyholders to make online policy changes, online payments, print various documents, enter claim information, and other various options online.

The flexibility of this company is amazing. In today's fast paced world, everyone needs a company with online features and 24 hour customer service as this company does. Progressive's rate are very reasonable, especially for those younger drivers or those in need of SR-22 insurance services.

Progressive also offers a variety of options to those in need of commercial auto coverage and motorcycle insurance. I am a policy holder of regular auto insurance and motorcycle insurance with this company. I found their motorcycle coverage to allow for the most basice policy for those who just...
...

Krystal18 says "I love it" about Allstate

How much is this laptop? Do anyone feel it is worth it? I am looking for a new laptop, and this one looks cute. I have a toshiba, and it works. I want a computer that will look cute just like me. Everyday a shepard sent his son to take their few sheep out to pasture. We cant afford to lose even one. A young mouse begged his mother to let his first look at the world outside the mouse hole. The little mouse had not been gone five minutes when he saw me she waved her long tail as if she were glad to see me. Fear is a greater motivator. Self-esteem and self-understanding are two of the most important components of your persoanl make-up! A student can be brilliant in terms of mental disabilities, but may perform at a very low capacity because of unhealthy self-esteem. If you let other people rule your life, you will always have unhealthy self-esteem. You will feel helpless and out of control as long as someone else has power over your life....

thaddeusmt says "Cheap, but poor communication about billing issues" about Progressive

The rates are cheap, but my declined bank account transfer was handled poorly.

When first creating a policy with Progressive everything seemed to go fine. I got my Insurance cards in the mail and thought I was good to go.

I received no emails that anything was wrong, and since I had my insurance cards I didn't think to log into the Progressive website either. Everything seemed good.

Then, *almost two weeks after starting my policy*, I got a "Rescission" notice in the mail (snail-mail, USPS) saying that my payment (bank account transfer) had failed and my policy had never started (I miss-typed my account number apparently).

WHY COULDN'T I HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL IN ADDITION TO THE LETTER, NOTIFYING ME THAT I WAS NOT INSURED MUCH SOONER?

What if I had gotten into an accident while that letter was in the mail?

Progressive claims to be serious about this "paperless" online thing, but relying on the regular mail for something important like this is ridiculous.

In the past several years, USAA has continuously pushed lobbyists to get substantial insurance premium increases. They also aggressively pursue "preferred providers" that do not have the consumer's best interest in mind. These rationales of 2 parties in cahoots together does not serve the public trust. Speak with your mortgage lenders before securing property insurance as they are knowledgeable about what you should be paying and their interest in your property is to see that damages and unfortunate situations are well taken care of. That is not something USAA or their contracted preferred providers want you to know.
...

Getting perfect car insurance for Mexico is a matter of shopping around. People who just had a trip to Mexico will tell you that how unsafe it is to travel to Mexico without carrying car insurance. The easiest and quickest way to shop for car insurance is by going online. This method of shopping saves money, as here you are not required to pay to underwriters and agents.

Usa Auto Insurance provides car insurance for Mexico in a prepaid card form. They were the first to launch prepaid insurance in November 2001. You can get a car insurance quote online. They offer insurance at exclusive price by offering various discounts.

Farmer's Insurance has been extremely helpful to my family. Our local agent is always quick to respond and looking for ways to save us money.

We own a home, and insure it and our vehicle through Farmer's. They have also handled an accident claim, so we have seen their methods and response times personally. Even though the other driver was at fault and uninsured, Famer's still paid the damages, quickly and with an estimate from our own choice of garage.

All in all, our experience with Farmer's has been efficient, thrifty, and pleasant. We plan to stay with them permanently, because you never get shifted from one corporate hotline to another, but are always served politely, and feel that your agent is still working to save you money even when you aren't directly in touch. Also, the statements are timely and they work with us to structure everything in the easiest possible way. We have received several discounts which are faithfully reflected in our policy.
...

My husband and I were on his grandmothers insurance policy before she moved. Well we had to get our own policy and I shopped around for a good week getting price after price! Finally we talked to Geico and they gave us a good price so we got their Western Union quick collect info and went straight up to the store and had the downpayment sending so I could get my insurance cards faxed to me. We get home and called them with the conformation number showing we had paid it and everything. Well then the lady informs me that they will need MORE money to start my policy! I was enraged I had shopped around until I just had to choose. They gave me a price I didnt like but it was better than others. So I send them the last of our money to find out they werent even going to start my policy until I sent more money.

My husband asked why it had changed within the half an hour it took to send the money. This is the moment when they informed us that they dont get down into your driving records and credit......

I worked for this company for seven years and though I must say the majority of the time it was a great company until I started seeing how they treat their customers. I was there when they were turning down Katrina survivors and not helping due to the water damage and although I undestand that you must have flood insurance, the household insurance should have covered the house and items within, but due to the water damage, it was not.
There have been other times and disasters that I have witnessed where the company just skimped on paying out and these poor people had been paying this company for years and years and been faithful to the company, regardless of price hikes.
Why, after so many years of coverage, does a company do this to someone?...

I recently decided to go through a thorough review of all of my homeowners and automobile insurance requirements and coverages. I used to be very lax about this, but over the past several years as my financial position has improved and my family has grown (both in size and count), i have tended to become more aware of the nuances and differences between different insurance companies, and between the coverages that they offer. I was pleasantly surprised to find American Family Insurance company through a quote from the "NetQuote" service... I was contacted directly by a local agent who was clearly motivated to get my business, but who was also extremely knowledgeable, and who i felt was very open with me on my needs and how much I "should" be covered for. She pointed out several holes in my total coverage amounts (particularly in liability), and after further study, i completely agreed i needed more. Even after the increases though, AFI's rates were still lower! All in all, a great...
...

His assistants are Suzanne and Adrienne and the two of them have moved haven and earth to help out when we have a question or a problem, which hardly ver happens. But as you know nobody is perfect. We have been with other insurance companies in the past ad not one could hold a candle to Allstate. In service, cost or claims assistance. I was with State Farm in the past and just as soon as my vehicle was reported stolen all of a sudden they say that my ins. was cancelled 2 months prior. Tht was news to me. My husband also had State Farm in the pst and when he had a claim, the canceled his policy. I have spoke to others about ins. and they had similar stories. I have now and will always stand behind Allstate and our Allstate Agent. I have been with them for several years now and the service just keeps getting better. I can pay by phone, directly withdrawals, or walk into there local office. I enjoy going into there office because they are so friendly and the customer service is really great. Geico also, offers renters insurance and other forms od insurance at very good rates.
