Unhappy246 says "Worst Company I've ever dealth with. STAY AWAY!!!" about Farmers Insurance

Farmers was charging us higher premiums than any other company we compared them against. So we decided to switch to another company. That's when our problems began.

Our insurance agent here in Washington, Angie Bueing, canceled our policy and then continued to bill us each month (we were on electronic auto bill pay, so didn't notice right away). We know our policy was canceled because our home loan companies contacted us requesting proof of our new insurance.

We did exactly what Farmers requested us to do when we canceled, which was not easy. It involved faxing written consent of our cancellation, providing proof of new insurance, etc. Yet even after all of these hoops, they continued to bill us!

It got so bad that the insurance agent stopped taking our calls. We had no choice but to open a fraud case with our bank (who the electronic auto bills were through). And finally we had to contact our lawyers to try to recoup our stolen money.

So PLEASE, do yourself a favor and stay away...
...

br5641 says "Just got 21st century save almost $1200 a year switching" about 21st Century Insurance

Just switched over to 21ST Century For My three cars and man was I surprised

I Had Western and they raised my rates over $800 per year and so I went and got quotes from online from several compaines and most saved me a few Hundred dollars but then I got My quote from 21ST Century and I called them about other discounts and I saved over $1200 from a qoute from Progressive.

I got seven diffrent qoutes and 21St Century was by far the lowest. two came close and four where way too high.

The People I had to deal with where unbelivable most called day in and day out and wouldnt take no for answer.

Other wise 21ST Century was a diffrent they kept to the emails we asked for and We called them at our time to find more savings and to give the information they needed to switch over .

all in all I would recommend 21ST Century to anyone that would listen.

and not staying with a company more then 10 years would be also something i would tell anyone wanting guidence.
...

NMiller says "Love it!" about USAA Banking and Insurance

I have several accounts with USAA: Auto Insurance, Savings, Checking and Brokerage. I absolutely love them. The best thing about them is their customer service. I've called several times (sometimes to ask some really stupid questions), and the customer service representatives are always very helpful and curtious. And you never have to wait on the line to speak with a representative. They also have this really cool feature where you can scan or take a picture of a check and they will deposit it into your account. That's exceptionally convienient to me, because I move a lot and its hard to find a bank that is all the places I want to be. Oh, and they also pay for your ATM fees, so you can get money from any ATM without having to worry about a fee.

My only complaint is that I had to open an account with TD Ameritrade, which does have slightly lower commision charges for their brokerage accounts, in order to buy a mutual fund that interested me since USAA has a very limited number...
...

For 42 years we have had State Farm Automobile Insurance and for only about one year we have had home owners with State Farm. Whenever we needed them they were always there. About 2 years ago we were rear ended by another vehicle-a business van. After repeated tries we were unable to even talk to their insurance people. We turned it over to State Farm and within 2 days had our car totaled and enough money to pay off what we owned on it and enough to make a down payment on a new one. We used a rental car those 2 days and after a few months we received a check in the mail for reinbursement for our deductable we paid. I highly recommend State Farm.
...

The compay itself is great on claims and no hassel at all but the office we are going through is HORRIBLE. They never have the vehicles right and my husband and I have been married for over 2 years but I am not on the insurance (we have called several times) If you used another office I am sure it wouldn't be like this the office we went with is just the worst. We did have a claim for a broken window and I was impressed at how easy it was to have it fixed and from what I was told by the glass co. they are the only ones who insure all your windows and not just the front....

I am writing today about an insurance company called allstate. Says you are in good hands with allstate, NOTTT. I tried to cancel them and they keep sending bills afterwards. Then i was sent to a collections agency. Even though i cancelled with them. I called them and even emailed them, but to NO extent. Even a person i work with has had the same trouble with allstate insurance company. They are not customer friendly. and by no means cheap on insurance. they are very expensive. No matter what credit score you have. and they are very very rude to customers over the phone and they want to call you liars. does not help to talk to an agent they cant or wont help you at all. You are not in good hands with them at all. I think most companies are out to screw everyone and see how much money the ceo's can bonus in their pockets and forget about the little man that supports the world. I dont think it is fair at all.
...

When I called this company I was directed to an agent who actually came out to see me and explained the products in detail that would both serve myself and my family while still being affordable. The agent went over all of our financial objectives, both current and future an informed us that he would always do an annual review to update our file and position us toward eventually saving more of our income, hopefully in products that would be tax free. We were given the option to pay in several different ways (annual, semi-annual, quarterlyof check-omatic) so we chose semi-annual which will save us a few dollars every year on our premium. My husband and I felt very relaxed and comfortable with the agent, he was not at all "pushy" nor did he ever speak above our level of understanding. We were asked to give him referrals in a very non-threatning way and he has kept all of his promises to us as far as delivery and premium are concerned. Customer service since has been outstanding.
...

I have been insured with New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company for 35 years. They insure my home and my cars. Luckily I've only had to put in to auto claims in the past 35 years. NJM handled the claims very professionally. Their claims personnel were very courteous and efficient. They paid for the claims quickly. They also have fantastic customer service. I have requested a few endorsements to my homeowners policy over the years and they take care of my requests pronto. They have various premium discounts available which have kept my premiums reasonable over the many years I have been insured by them. I also look forward to the great dividend that they pay every year. I have friends who have worked for NJM over the years and they really liked working there. They are a good employer who offers great benefits to their employees. I am born and bred in New Jersey and NJM is a NJ company.

I am still in the middle of my claim, but am getting frustrated. It is taking forever because if they (the adjustor and the claims rep) call me once and can't reach me, they don't leave a message, and don't try again. I have tried calling them several times, but usually can't reach them and even though I leave a message, they won't call me back. I am trying to arrange the repair of my truck, and get a rental car, but days are running into weeks because of the lack of communication. I finally had to talk to their customer service and demand that I talk to someone "TODAY" so that I can get this started. My adjustor finally called me back. I'm not sure if their low cost insurance is worth the hassle.
...

If you are looking for an insurance plan to cover your home, I would love to suggest this insurance company and you can believe me, this is from my own personal experience, they are amazing. If you value your home and everything in it as well as your car, I think you won’t need a second thought and just choose for the Allstate Insurance plan. Allstate offers different kinds of insurance like Auto, Motorcycle, Boat, Home, Renters and so on and so forth. Its auto insurance has got some interesting features such as Accident Forgiveness, Safe Driving Bonus, Deductible Rewards, New Car Replacement. All these good features are then bundled in very lucrative and appealing packages to cater everyones need. They will also send you a check if you never had any accident which is really good if you needed extra cash. It might be expensive for some but the results you get is really excellent and you really get what you pay for...Their rates are very competitive though.

2 yrs ago, I set up auto bill pay, and then went on tour for 2 months. When I got back, I opened a letter saying my ins was canceled due to non payment. USAA even admitted that it was their fault that the rep entered my bank info incorrectly resulting in the lapse in coverage, but it wasn't enough...my rates rised $200!

the last straw? cut and paste from my bbb complaint:

repeated calls for assistance ignored. Services as insurance company neglected.

My car was broken into on 10/29, leaving a broken out passenger window, and no security for my vehicle from intruders and inclement weather. I filed a claim on 10/30 which was ignored. No claims adjuster called me that day, and my car was exposed to the rain and intruders over the weekend (Halloween weekend). Still no calls on Monday 11/2, so I called and filed the claim AGAIN. Following that, i escalated to express my concerns with a manager who then asked me to repeat all the info pertaining to my claim and now challeged my personal property...
...

I've been with GEICO for over 6 years now. I had my car and house insured. I had a car accident in June 2009. The other party hit my car from the back at the stop sign. I called the police to have a police report when the accident occurred. My back was hurting a bit and my neck injured. X-rays from the chiropractor confirm everything. I called GEICO within 3 days to state what happened in the accident. After they got my statement, I started to go to local chiropractor. GEICO agent assured me I will be reimbursed for the time off from work with my medical expenses (had doctor's note temporary not eligible for work). DID NOT HAPPENED!!! 30 days later I was informed that I was at fault of this accident cause first call didn't count and the statement I gave them wasn't valid. They said it was a wrong department I talked to, even though when I first called, I talked to customer representative stating I need to file a claim. Long story short, I was paying $145/mo full coverage ($500 deductible),...
...

I have been using State Farm Insurance for over 20 years in several different states. My career has taken me to several states for both short and long periods of time. I needed a company that could work with me and my specific needs. I looked for a company that had a good reputation for quality service and reasonable prices.

I am not interested in finding the cheapest rates available! I am interested in dependability, thorough service and no hidden rules or restrictions. The insurance business is in business to make money so finding the cheapest insurance available does not always mean you are getting the right insurance for you or the best services available to fit your needs. Nobody gives things away for free these days. So when I am shopping for Insurance I want more than just the lowest prices. I want an agent who is available when I need them to answer questions or help me make changes and adjustments in my insurance. I need a person I can trust and depend on when things go wrong....
...

JimMc says "Avoid them like the plague" about Erie Insurance

Two months after I lost my job, our basement backed up with sewage. At the time, I thought that Erie did a good job covering the loss (we had a sewage rider). I was able to find a job later in a different state.

In late March/early April, I received a renewal notice that showed our rate going from $578 to over $900 dollars.

Apparently, they were upset that I filed a claim with them and intended on penalizing me for it. On April 28, with us being in Texas and the house not selling, I contacted Erie (through the Ridge Agency) to see if I could reduce anything to save us money. I was shocked when the agent informed me that after talking with his people, my policy was to be cancelled as of May 1 because we were now living in Texas. He could sell me a different policy, but it would run over $5000, and I had to make the decision quickly because I would have no coverage for the house in a few days. I specifically asked him the question "So as of May 1, I have no insurance?" He responded, "Correct,...
...

JSchletz says "OMG the service sucks " about Allied Insurance

This insurance company is NOT mine but was the person's that hit me and took fault because they ran a stop light and hit me. It took two weeks to get my car IN the repair shop and then the rental car place could not even get a HUMAN on the phone from the insurance company to get the rental started. They went ahead and let me get the rental today EVEN though they could not get ahold of Allied Auto insurance, other than being transferred to a stupid answering machine. This has got to be the worst company I have ever had dealings with and I am VERY grateful that we use Geico for our own car insurance!!!
...

tanj88 says "Upfront and convenient." about Geico

I am a college student with less than 3 years to my driver's license so it was a nightmare trying to find a company that would insure me, much less one that would insure me me for an affordable price. My choices were GEICO and progressive, but the GEICO agents that I spoke to were more helpful. My friends have GEICO and one of them got a fender-dent from a hit and run while parked in the school lot. GEICO was very easy to deal with and did not give us a hard time for the repair. Also, they gave me an OK price, one of the lowest compared to other auto insurance companies. What I like the most though is that you can manage your policy online - as in, make payments and adjustments. I dont drive everyday so I can just downgrade my policy to collision, comprehensive and minimum margins, then restore the upgrades when I will use again. I really like GEICO so far and plan to stay with them for a while.
...

purplecount says "shop around" about Aflac

When they came to my worksite it was very easy for me to see the "value" in their products. That held up until I checked the competition and had a claim to file.

Most of the companies that offered supplemental type products were in a different world as far as price. Some more than half the price. I think Aflac is so big because they appear to flood the market with "agents". I never saw the same agent twice. Our human Resources said they would have 3 different people call on the business every week. Even after we were an account.

I fell and broke my arm. First thing I did was attempt to call the person that had sold me the policy. They were no longer with the company. I found a number in the phone book. I was only able to get hold of a girl that answered the office phone. She was not an agent. She informed me it was my job to go online and file my own paperwork. REALLY!!! I am paying good money for a product that I assumed would have some degree of service. I was wrong.

I did get my claim...
...
