I am reviewing the Capitol One VISA card. I was approved for this card when I was 23 years old. The first time I payed the card completly off I used a checking account. They had two different checking account numbers that I had used. When I told the company to use one and not the other they decided they would charge both. So the end result was my boyfriends checking account being overdrafted so much that I could not pay it off and it was closed due to it. The next problem that I had with them was when I became unemployed, due to unforseen circumstances. I had paid a monthly payment to be on a protection program to help pay my monthly bill if that were to happen, and when it came right down to it they only helped with one month and then I started to receive late fees that just got higher and higher. In the beginning my credit limit was only $200.00 and in the end I owed them over $600.00. This resulted in having it sent to a credit bureau and my credit score...
...

American Express Blue Cash Card has been in my families wallets for several years now. What I like about it is every year, a month after your one year anniversary, which is November, for us you get a credit to that months statement. Every year it falls right around Christmas shopping, so I can always count on getting back anywhere from 100-200 dollars off my bill. Other than the cash back you get fraud protection, no annual fee, and great customer service. If you have any problem with your card, you can call them up and they will take care of it for you without any issue. Several times I spotted an charge I did not authorize. You can go online and dispute the charge and/or call them and they will investigate it also. This happened a couple of times to me and each time my money was credited back within a months period of time. Unlike most american express cards, this one has no annual fee. If you are looking for a good no annual fee cash back card, look into this credit card. I assure...
...

I was a capitol one customer for eleven years. I was never late on a payment and even kept it through a bankrupcy. After ten years I decided to open up another card with a small balance so I could have some extra money for a family vacation. the first day of my vacation which was about seventy miles from my house I purchased gas, which was fine. Twenty minutes later I tried to take out forty dollars at an ATM and was denied. I called Capitol One and was told the attempts were suspicous, O.K. fine. I explained them the situation and was told to fax them some information. Now remember, I am on vacation with my family. So at ten p.m. that night I paid the hotel ten dollars every fifteen minutes to use their computer, printed and faxed copies of a gas bill, pay stub, another credit card bill, and my license. The next morning I called and was told it would take at least two business days to reviw my case. I called back two days later(still on vacation with my family)and...
...

I haven't even had this card for a year yet and have already had two credit limit increases. This is a good thing and a bad thing all at the same time. It means I have the potential to charge more and pay higher interest rates and at the same time have the ability to charge items I didn't plan on needing. I like the fact that I can view everything on-line and would like to try the new "slate" program, but I don't make large purchases on my card. I make small ones for gas, groceries, and a few odds and ends here and there. It all adds up in the end, but I couldn't see the point for me to use the program. It seems like a well thought out idea for those of you who may make large purchases though. The reason I applied for this card in the first place was to have the ability to do a balance transfer because I was offered the 0% finance rate for the first six months. This was "not offered for the account" or so I was told by customer service. This was fine, but I would much rather have kept the...
...

I have been a capital one credit card holder since 2000 when i opened a secured credit card. Gradually i have been offered up to 4 credit cards and have had one card platinum mastercard go to a high limt. They have also lowered my Apr to 8.8 which can still go lower. I got these offers in the mail after i have been a customer. Otherwise I believe they are strict and only accept applicants with very good credit. They have 24 hour customer service and have free online payments. Payments made before noon are credited the same businsess day. they do charge $39 over credit limit fee. There payments online are free of charge. You can contact them by phone customer service 24 hours a day. Their security department does red flag alerts for customer protection. They call your phone number and leave a message saying please call capital one to verify charges and attempts of charges. They also waive occasional fees for convenience.
...

Capital one No Hassle Credit card is a good choice for those looking to save, earn and relax. You save as you get miles for every purchase you make, this miles can turn into cash, gift certificate or miles which can be redeemed for air travel, cruise or hotel including all inclusive resorts. The best thing about the travel is that there are no blackout dates. You can choose to reserve travel through their site or you can arrange travel yourself elsewhere. So for instance if you find a good discount on a vacation at one site you can combine that with the mileage ang get the best deal on it. Their value for traveling is the following: 15,000 miles for travel between $0-$150, 30,000 miles for travel between $150.01 - $350.00 and 60,000 miles for travel between $350.01 and $600.00, therefore if for instance you buy an airplane ticket that cost $200 with taxes 3 people can travel altogether with 60,000 miles, which means that your friends and family can enjoy the rewards. Don't want...
...

tricktrick says "Confusing rewards." about Chase - chase freedom

The Chase Freedom card is rated as the top cash back credit card by financial review sites but I do not believe that is the case. Sure, you get cash back for spending money on the card. But when Chase is constantly changing their rewards system and changing interest rates, the card suddenly becomes a burden because it becomes difficult to understand exactly what you are getting as far as rewards. Another unfortunate and odd problem I noticed with the card was even if I paid off the balance in full to take advantage of the cash back and to avoid interest they still hit me with a $1 charge for no apparent reason. I never understood this and everyone I spoke with at the branch and the phone simply told me it was because I carried a balance when in fact it was paid in full each and every month. Chase is one of the biggest banks in the world, and now I know why. All those dollars add up and they know how to munipulate their own system to make every dollar they can from everyday people. I would......

With all the bank bailouts which the American people are paying for, I believe consumers should have litte to no interest rates. Our country is in a crunch. We the people can no longer sustain bailouts, tart, or health reform. An example would be the cash for clunkers, it did not solve the problems. Our country is now at 10.2 unemployment rate, which shows how bad our economy is and will be for a long time. I am angry and would like to see Washington overhauled. There are to many chiefs and not enough Indians. We need to return to the basics. We need to live with in our means, save, and cut any credit cards we have. It is the governments fault that people are losing their homes. Even if youhave excellent credit it is impossible to get a credit card with a low limit so that you can shop on the internet and then pay the card in full each month.
...

I have had my Discover Platinum Card account for about sixteen years now. I use it for all of my day to day shopping, everything from groceries and gas, to lunches and clothes. It would be nice to see the utility companies and tax offices accepting the card without adding on additional fees. I intend on using this account for all of the things needed for my upcoming wedding. Although this card does not have the lowest interest rate of my cards, it is the first one I reach for due to the cash back incentives, grace period, and ample credit limit. On a recent trip, I found that it was not well received on the East coast - fortunately I was only there to visit! The recent changes to their site include useful graphs and charts - it is a great way to keep track of where the money's really going. All my shop-a-holic friends out there know what I mean. I would have a hard day if I forgot my Discover Platinum Card!
...

i started with bank of america when i was a student and wanted a simple credit card. after nine months, i asked them for a rewards card. they gave me worldpoints. basically, you get one point per dollar, and can redeem for merchandise, miles, or cash. recently, i wanted to move over to a 1% cash back card from another bank, but it ended up being more of a hassle than it was worth. one caveat- to get your worldpoints cash to equal 1% cash back, you need to redeem at 25,000 points or higher.

in addition, one other reason i keep the bank of america card is because of the awesome portfolio management software their site has. it's better than any other free site i've seen. it will pull all your online accounts, track your investments, categorize your expenditures (you can even add categories and it will learn them), manage your frequent flier miles and other rewards points, and pay your bills (well, with your money). you can also run reports on your spending and saving habits. it's a great tool...
...

I have a Providian card and have had it for years. I have paid on time for ten years and always pay over what is required. I have been treated quite poorly since Chase took the company over.

I called them in advance of taking a trip over seas. I was told they had a record of the call and was told my card will work. The first time I use it Chase declined the card.

I had another occasion where I tried to purchase software online and Chase declined it too. No one told me and Chase never bothered to call to see if I actually did make a purchase. They just declined it. I waited a week for the charges to go through and called back before I found out the charges were denied.

I have a good credit rating and history. I am not happy with the Chase monopoly, buying up other credit card companies and treating their customers horribly. I will not use any Chase credit cards I have. I now prefer to use my other credit cards. I am treated much better by a number of other credit card companies.

jmd25 says "Capital One's the way to go" about Capital One - Capital One Platinum Master Card

I like Capital One because they give you a chance where most would not. When I got my first job Capital One gave me my first credit card. At that time I was estatic. They helped me build up my credit and eventually I was able to get more credit. I kept in good standing with them for a long time. Unfortunately I had to file bankruptcy a while ago due to the economy, but as soon as I can I'll make sure Capital One gains back my buisness. They will work with you if you are having financial difficulties. I think their intrest rate could use a little work, but overall Capital One is a fine card to have. Just make sure you read all the terms and conditions carefully, so you know what you are getting into. If you don't it can come back on you. I wish I was still a Capital One member. Their minimum payments aren't that bad either. If you have a limit of five hundred dollars and you spend three hundred you're minimum due is only about 15 dollars. As I said before I really like Capital One and I'm...
...

MsKells says "First Premier Credit Card company a rip-off waiting to happen!" about First Premier Bank - First Premier Credit Card

Ever applied for something on the internet and been so excited, just can't wait to receive it in the mail? Have you ever finally received the item and felt totally jipped? This perfectly describes my experience with First Premier Bank. The credit card company tells you that you are receiving a card with a credit limit of $250.00. However, when you receive the card you'll notice that you're available balance is only $79.00 because of all the bogus charges and fees that have already been billed to your account before you receive it. On top of that, you have to pay $25.00 to activate the card, which really means that your card balance is that of $54.00. You apply for the card with intentions of relieving some of your debt, when in fact you're merely placing yourself further in a bind then when you started. I would not recommend this card to anyone unless you're absolutely desperate for $30.00 and you have $25.00 to send in to "activate" your credit card.
...
