LoveisJoy says "HGTV Design on a Dime: Stylish Room Makeovers Under $1,000" about Design on a Dime

Design on a Dime is a popular show on HGTV for anyone who loves a good room makeover. The premise of the show is that home owners (and renters, too) can have a stylish space without spending thousands of dollars. The budget for the show is $1,000, and after taking a look at some of the "Before" rooms, you know they're going to need every dime of it. The cast of Design on a Dime features revolving teams of 3 design professionals. No matter which design team is working on the room, they each have to abide by the same rules. The team leader generally assesses the room with the homeowner, and then the rest of the group gets together to determine a plan of action. The viewer at home gets an opportunity to see how professionals go about changing a room, and it's inspiring to learn how you can incorporate ideas into your own home. — For example, the process generally begins with determining major furniture pieces, a color palette, focal point, and...

rma288 says "This show makes southern accents cool again" about The Closer

I remember being completely captivated by Kyra Sedgwick's character during the series premiere of "The Closer" in 2005. I was vaguely familiar with Sedgwick's previous work (I mostly knew her as John Travolta's love interest in "Phenomenon"), and was completely blown away by her performance in "The Closer." — I love how Sedgwick has infused her character, Brenda Lee Johnson, with various idiosyncrasies that make her so human. The characteristics, including her addiction to sweets, her southern charm (well, as much charm as a cop in L.A. can have), her self-confidence issues and her ability to be a hard-ass when necessary, create a lot of depth and complexity in a character that could have easily become a static and generic "L.A. super-detective." — I remember when I watched the first episode, I was captivated throughout, but the end when Brenda "closes" and gets the confession was absolutely amazing. I like how you don't know what exactly is going on in Brenda's mind and...

LoveisJoy says "HGTV Decorating Cents Features Low-Cost Designs Under $500" about Decorating Cents

Decorating Cents is one of my favorite shows on HGTV - Home and Garden Television. Host, Joan Steffend, pairs up with a designer, a carpenter, and a frugal $500 budget to bring style to a room within the budget and within one day's time. Usually, the episode begins with an overview of the family and the problem room that needs attention. Joan then introduces us to the designer who is in charge of bringing a new vision to the room within the $500 budget. The designer explains the design board and concept for the room, and we get a sneak peek at some of the elements that will go into the process. — The decorating almost always begins with a new paint color, since that's usually the biggest bang for the buck. I've seen the show designers reinterpret cast-off items in fresh, unexpected ways. They have no problem rescuing a table from a dumpster, cutting it in half, and then turning it into two nightstands mounted to the wall. They've turned...

House is probably the best show that I have ever seen on TV. The characters are so intense and in-depth that I can not get enough of it. I DVR all my shows , but when House is on I am glued to the TV. If I know that new episode will be on then I have to be there. With House's character you sit there and can not believe his bed side manner, but yet he knows how to get the job done. I think the best thing could ever happened to this show was having this character. He is a strong and dominate person and I love him. I just wish that they would be more in-depth about his past. Sometimes I want to know more about the man. House is one of those shows that you have not watched it you need to get the series on DVD and watch it. It is important to follow the entire understanding of the cast. It will explain everything. This show never seems to bore me. Eveytime you watch it you feel like you are on his team for...

My son seems to really like Yo Gabba Gabba. I have a VERY hard time watching it with him. It reminds me of the kid version of Monty Python (in as much as you KNOW whoever wrote, directed, and acts in it HAD to be under the influence of SOMETHING). Just weird, random, and creepy in my opinion. Toys coming to life, random dancing, phallic shaped character....

Yo Gabba Gabba is a new show on Nick Jr. From my understanding the Aquabats helped create it, and sometimes they even perform on the show. Most shows they have a guest celebrity come on and show the kids a new dance or a new cool trick. Biz Marky also teaches a Beat of The Day on some epidsoded. My son loves them all.
VolFanGrl says "Dramatic, Exciting, Unnerving.....Real" about Untold Stories of the ER

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, nothing on TV, so I was flipping through the channels and came upon this show, Untold Stories of the ER on Discovery Health. Immediately, I was intrigued. I have always been a fan of medical dramas, especially the real stuff. It must have been a marathon or something because there were like 4 or 5 on in a row. — — The Show — There are usually 3 different "stories" that they tell, simultaneously. Throughout the telling of these stories they are reenacting the actual events, sometimes they even have the real patients as the actors. They are also interviewing the attending Dr's, nurses, patients, and family/friends of the patients. It's all very dramatic and entertaining. Sometimes it's even funny! But, I warn you, it is not for the weak of heart....or stomach. I don't have a weak stomach, but, I had to look away a few times! — — My Take — I work in a hospital, though, not as a nurse or physician. I am only in the...

Jo says "A nuclear bomb will be detonated. Can Season Two of 24 stop it?" about 24 Season Two

To the PointI wrote a review of the First Season of 24. — — We bought the Season Two after getting hooked on this television show. Although I didn't stay up all hours of the night watching this season I thought it was great. We just got Season Three. — A Closer View — Season Two comes 7 discs in a nice package - great as a gift. 24 takes place over 24 hours in real time. Each episode is 60 minutes. — 24 Season Two is as much of a thriller as Season One. — The Stars — Kiefer Sutherland plays the star, Jack Bauer, a former Federal agent for the Counter Terrorist Unit in Los Angeles. Bauer works and plays to the beat of his own drum. You should have seen Season One by now but if you haven't skip the next couple of sentences. We see Jack as an angry man in Season Two having a hard time getting through the death of his wife, Teri thus the time off from CTU. Their daughter Kim, played by Elisha Cuthbert (also a writer in this Season) is still...

When I was in school; I found history classes to be dull, unengaging and provoked no thought at all due to the subject presentation. Therefore, I studied for tests and memorized all of the dates, names and places; so I could pass the course and move on to classes far more interesting. The items I remembered after those classes were minimized to statements such as, "You know, that battle at Waterloo with what's his name....". Really classy, huh? — As an adult, I just naturally kept the notion that I hated history in general as a subject and was glad I wasn't in school anymore. But one night many years ago; there was nothing on TV to watch and I came upon the History Channel and grudgingly watched a program on Hitler regime. It wasn't just dates and places about these things that happened with these people.
