May 21, 2008 was to be a special day at the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Steven Curtis and Mary Beth were about to celebrate both their daughter's engagement and the high school graduation of their eldest son. Then, something horrible happened. As one of their sons pulled into the driveway he didn't see his little 5-year old sister Maria. His vehicle struck and killed her, leaving Christian music's most successful singer/songwriter to cope with unspeakable pain, the loss of one child and to father another through heart-numbing guilt. I myself have a 5-year-old little girl and the thought of such a thing is something I cannot bear.

Beauty Will Rise is Mr Chapman's love letter to his lost little girl and a raw look at him working through his pain. With sparse arraignments and acoustic guitar, he publicly wrestles with pain only a father who has lost a child can experience.

He said that, after he lost Maria, he honestly didn't know if he would ever write or sing songs again. ...

I have not always been a fan of country music btu the Dixie Chicks are a pretty awesome bunch of ladies musically speaking .

I started listening to them with the CD " FLY" and enjoyed Natalie Maines' lovely voice - she can sing a great ballad or really belt a song out when needed . She also plays a pretty good guitar.

Emily Robison is an incredible musician too - she can play 5 or six instruments with ease and finesse and her sister ,Martie Maguire , is one of the best fiddlers ever to grace a stage .

These ladies are certainly controversial and have lost a lot of fans with Natalie's( now infamous) remarks about George Bush and Texas . Many were offended and I agree that it was not the brightest comment to voice , but it should not detract from the brilliance of their music . I certainly think the death threats to Natalie were overkill - people are entitled to their opinions, although " dissing" the President , esp on foreign soil,as a very foolish thing to do and cost them a lot...

It is my belief Carrie Underwood is the best singer to graduate from American Idol. She has an almost perfect voice and the range of Celine Dion. Loves ya Kelly. Respects ya Adam. But Carrie, she da man, er, woman. She really showcases those gorgeous pipes of hers on Play On, her third and definitely most pop-leaning album yet. Shania, watch your back.

And Ms Underwood went to the studio determined to hit a massive homerun this time. She very nearly succeeds. Bringing in the the ringers, like producers Mike Elizondo and Max Martin along with writers Brett James, Tom Shapiro, and Paul Overstreet, Carrie presents us with an eclectic group of songs that sometimes feels like pandering but mostly feels like a nice variety.

Kicking things off with her already huge radio hit, Cowboy Casanova, Elizondo imparts a juiced-up dance hall flavor that sounds like an attempt to bring back line-dancing. With Underwood's booming vocals, this "warning" song is sure to have urban cowboys...

I first heard of the band Owl City when a good friend of mine sent me there song "Hello Seattle". I instantly fell in love. The song was instantly a hit with me. It was catchy, easy to sing-a-long with, and the beat and rhythm just made you want to tap your foot and put the song on repeat. Then over the next few months I heard a few more singles. I purchased the album Ocean Eyes, and listened to every song on the disc. I loved all of them. All the songs are a combination of electronica/popish music that just catches you a bit of guard, yet I am sure you'll fall in love with the sound, lyrics, and style. With the song Firefiles there are no exceptions. It is fun, exciting, catchy, and a perfect song to sing-a-long to. When I first listened to Firefiles I instantly felt like I was indeed taken to the sky like a firefly. The synthesizer sound bits at the beginning set the motion for the entire song, and entraps you until song ends. The song is a playful one that talks about real life elements...

Yesterday I went to see the Michael Jackson movie This Is It. I won't take a lot of your time to tell you how wonderful it is. Check out my review or better yet; go see it and then tell us what you think. During the movie I was introduced to some songs that he had performed but they were new to me. I enjoyed MJ's music during the 80s and early 90s. I have several MJ CDs and probably wouldn't have bought this soundtrack; except for one reason: They were releasing This Is It and Earth Song.

This evening was our monthly girls night out and before the movie we went over to Walmart to pick up a few things and kill some time. I decided to go to electronics and see if they had the soundtrack and they did. I saw a $10 and $14.88 CD. I "think" the $10 was being advertised as a Walmart exclusive. It was the songs performed in the movie and nothing more. I chose the $14.88 Souvenir Edition because not only did it include a 36-page book with photos from the movie but it also has...

My Michael Jackson "This Is It" double souvenir CD set arrived today and I've been playing it ever since. I have a daily dose of Michael all the time with my "Bad" and "Greatest Hits" albums so I wondered how this would stand in comparison. "This Is It" ROCKS. Offering MJ fans some really stellar new tunes and some of our older favorites. I honestly never tire of listening to Michael Jackson. In "This Is It" you can hear his excitement and passion. Our generation was so fortunate to attend his concerts and grow up with him. When it comes to music, MJ was a Genius! Only He could take his older music, update and improve upon them and share with us his fresh perspectives. I love the Steve Miller Band.They were out a little after I was born and I sware that I am suck a semi old rocker form back in the day.My favorite song by them is Joker.This si such a good song and I love it alot.I could listen to this song all day long and it wouldnt bothe me at all.This band has alot of good music to offer and if you listen to them and your a classic rocker then there band is for you.They offer a seriously great collection of music and I just love them.Theres not much else that you cna say about them.Just have to listen and judge for yourself.

Papa roach is my all-time favorite band. It is the greatest. they have a mix of pure emotion to things you just wanna rock out to. All of my friends love at least one of their songs, even my daughter is into it!! I would recommend papa roach to any person who is ready to rock their hearts out, cause papa roach WILL blow their minds. It has some popular songs like "last resort" "scars" and the newest "hollywood whore" or the not so popular but still great "getting away with murder" and "to be loved". My honest opinion is...well its a pretty dang good band, and Jacoby Shaddix (lead singer of PR) is pretty hot. ;) if you don't choose to listen to me...its your loss suckers. THIS BAND ROCKS!!!!!

I love to listen to Patsy Clines The Definitive Collection.Sometimes at night I have a hard time falling asleep so I pop Patsy Cline into my cd player and listen to Sweet Dreams and all of the other tracks.Usually by the time it is to number 10 I am fast asleep.Patsy Cline is a true legend and her music is so beautiful.I love He Called Me Baby Allnight Long.This is a great song.Although Patsy has been gone for years her music still lives on.I own her movie Sweet Dreams too.It is like the greatest music ever.If you have never listened to a Patsy Cline Cd then go out and buy one because even if your not a country music lover Patsy will change all that.Another great hit from her collection is Blue Moon Of Kentucky.This is a fabulous song too.There are just to many wondeful songs to list.If you just want to relax or are in the mood for a true legend then throw in Patsy Clines Definitve Collection and listen to her and you want be let down.

I love it when folks get in touch to tell me of new music they've released. One such release is the wonderfully bright Instructions for Flying by dep. I loved his previous release nothing to undo : nothing to redo and was eager to hear how he has progressed as an artist.

I have to say I am impressed. His music is bright, melodic & deeply atmospheric electronica. No theme is overused... no sound is overplayed... and there is an overriding sense that everything is exactly where it should be.

Words like delicate & intricate come to mind as I listen to "these are your marching orders" which reminds me of The Album Leaf and Sigur Ros circa Takk... > the track building_ marching even_ towards a climatic finish.

His sound still retains a sense of the glitchy... rhythms are scattered, bells weave in and out, vocals are fractured... but there is also a sense of a broadening in outlook... a real undercurrent of post-rock flavouring... a widening of sound and real emphasis placed on ambience.

Three days grace, One X is one album I picked up after I went to see thier concert. I love good rock music and this to me is good rock music. Sure there are some songs on it that say certain things about death and other stuff. But, if we can't deal with the pains of life then we shouldn't listen to music that brings things to the for front to us.

The group itself is alternative music and a great mix of rock. Its not to hard and its worth giving it a chance to those old rockers out there looking for something different to listen too. Open your mind to new things to listen to. Pick up the album and give it a listen, you never know, you may just like it.

Three days grace, hasn't been around to long, but thier music says something to those willing to listen to it. Plus, us rockers out there needs to get out there and listen to the things that come close to the stuff from way back when.

Go out and get this album and keep the rock alive.

Godsmack is one of my favorite bands and always will be.(Godsmack Good Times,Bad Times 10 years of Godsmack).My favorite song by them is Mama Save Me because it reminds me alot of my past life.We all grow and go through things and when I look back on things that I was doing all in the world on my own when I was younger with not alot of guidence I used ot always think about my Mama and wish she was still there to guide me.Speak is another good song by God Smack too.I guess you could say I am just a rocker and thats for sure.Vood Doo is a pretty good song by them too.If your the kind fo person who enjoys some good rock music then to me God Smack is for you.It can be hard but with a good beat.If your not into loudness and hard music then this is not the one for you.

Recently, I had the pleasure of listening to Harry Connick, Jr's album "Your Songs." I was stunned! I didn't realize that he was a singer and that he had such a beautiful voice! "Mellow" does not adequately describe the smooth and pleasant voice Mr. Connick possesses--his singing voice is just gorgeous.

The songs on the album have been done before, but not like this. Although these songs have been done in the past by a variety of singers with their own unique sounds, Mr. Connick manages to tie every one of these songs together by making them his own. I have found myself listening to this album repeatedly--it is not just relaxing, but is upbeat and calming at the same time.

The sound is reminescent of Frank Sinatra, but warmer, somehow. I particularly like "All the Way," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and "And I love Her," but they are all beautiful songs. Those who love Frank Sinatra or just strong and slightly old-fashioned voices will LOVE Harry Connick, Jr.

THe new KISS album, Sonic Boom is a great bargain. 2cd's and 1 dvd. The new album does touch base with the early band. Even the new Ace and Peter clones sound good. There will be some new classics on the album. Now the re-recorded cd of their greatest hits leaves something to be desired. They really screwed up Love gun and....ugh...I Was Made For Loving You. The dvd rocks. If you've ever seen KISS live, you will be pleased with the dvd. Even though they are getting up there in age, these guys can still write and rock! well worth your money...only $12 for all three!

Joshua Bell is so very talented. In this Cd, which I had the pleasure to review for One2One network, he plays the musical gamut, from a song with vocals by Sting, to a Beatles cover ( Eleanor Rigby, with superb vocals by Frankie Moreno,it's AWESOME) to a Latin dance rhumba type song.

A quick review of the songs that I loved best.

Come Again, with Vocals by Sting.
This song was featured on the Aaron Sorkin NBC TV show "Studio 60 on the Sunset strip" during it's run, and I always wanted to own the Cd with that song on it. NOW I DO!

Eleanor Rigby with vocals by Frankie Moreno
I do not know who Frankie Moreno is, but I love his voice and will find a Cd of his soon.

My Funny Valentine sung by Kristin Chenoweth.
I am not a fan of Ms Chenoweth. Her voice usually grates on my nerves. But she does something to tone herself down on this song, and makes it a smooth, and enjoyable listen, something I have never been able to say about her until now.

The beauty of the CD is that it is this diverse, but still...

This is an excellent CD of remakes or Cover Songs of other famous slow and easy tunes. I was thrilled to get to review it for free from One2One network

in my opinion, most of Harry Connick Jr's versions are better than the originals. Especially his versions of "Just the way you are" and "Mona Lisa" which are much smoother and easier than the originals.

There are some surprises on this CD. Who would have guessed "Can't help falling in love with you" would be so good as done by Harry? It's amazing!

A quick review of my favorite songs from this CD

Mona Lisa. As orginally done by Nat King Cole, this song was great. However, since Cole's vocal range was not comepletely suited to this song, he sort of "attacked" some notes that I have enver thought needed attacking. Harry nevers attacks anything, because he doesn't have too. His vocal range lets him reach the notes other singers would be troubled with

Just the way you are. This was a Billy Joel song orginally, right? For me, now, it's a Harry Connick...

I've been a fan of SugarLand since the beginning and have looked forward to this release for many months!! Love on the Inside - Deluxe Fan Edition is fabulous!! If you are a fan already, you will not be disappointed. If you are NOT a fan - first I ask, why not?! But, get this cd and you will become instantly hooked. Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush are fun, energetic and wonderful songwriters and performers.

Harry Connick,Jr. album "Your Songs"

Love the voice!!! I was surprised when I listened to this cd. I do not think that I have heard his music before, and I cannot believe that I have lived without listening to this wonderful voice until now! I just want to melt when I listen to him! The voice just flows right over me, then through me!!! I do not care for a couple of the songs on this cd, but I do not like them no matter who sings them. The cd has a feel of night club type music. This d would be great listening to while doing anything not fun-like the dishes! Would definitely improve my attitude while doing chores! My favorite song is "Can't Help Falling in Love with You"! I also really enjoyed "All the Way"! He is someone that I would enjoy seeing live in concert!

Joshua Bell's album "At Home With Friends"

This is a classical music cd. Some songs are instrumental, and other songs have a singer, like Kristen Chenoweth, Sting, & Josh Groben, to name a few. While I prefer Heavy Metal tunes, I do enjoy classical music. But this is not one of my favorite classical music cds. But maybe someone who prefers classical music may like it more than me. I think that this cd would be good to listen to while having a romantic dinner, or taking a long bubble bath! My favorite song would be #15-Variant Moods:Duet for Sitar & Violin because it has a kind of Egyptian sound to it. #12-Left Hand Song-this is a very different song. Kinda freaky! Because of the star quality on this cd-Sting, Josh Groben, etc, I had high hopes. But I just am not fond of this music. But I will listen to his next cd.
