http://www.viewpoints.com/Magazines Sun, 06 Jul 2008 03:22:36 GMT Reviews about Magazines http://www.viewpoints.com/Electronic-Gaming-Magazine-review-02fb6 Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) is the best gaming mag I've read.  I have subscribed to a lot of them but I like EGM the best.  My favorite article in there is Seanbaby's The Rest of the Crap.  He reviews really bad video games in that article every month.  His reviews are very funny.  I also like the way that EGM covers all the consoles as well as PCs and cellphones.  Some magazines focus on only one gaming platform.  I have several game systems at home and also play games on my cellphone, so I like magazines that cover them all.  EGM also has one of the best online websites too.  Their site called 1UP has a thriving community where members can post blogs, cheats, pics, videos, articles etc. for free.  They also have the 1UP Show videos on there.  The 1UP show is a funny but informative "TV show" like program that gives reviews and info about games in a video format.  It has pretty good production values for a free... I have several different consoles, and appreciate that they review games for all platforms. I like the rating system (1-10) instead of the too-hard-to-pin-down 1-5, and find the reviews well written and objective. While I have been gaming for years, I am not necessarily versed in computer lingo, but I never feel like an idiot after reading this mag; the writing is erudite but very easy to understand.
