peach512 says "This is the greatest way to read!" about Amazon - Kindle

My husband and I are constantly reading books. And they are stacked up all over the place. We have favorite authors, and tend to purchase their books when they are released. After researching the various "book-readers", we decided the Amazon Kindle was most likely the best deal around. Then I noticed my boss using one, and she proceeded to show me so many of the features. I decided to order one for a Father's Day gift. I figured we can easily drop $100 at a time buying books - and that is at Costco where they offer a significant discount. So I ordered it,and it arrived quite promptly with free shipping no less. We were both so entranced with the low cost of periodicals and books. And all the free books too. The books download in about 80 seconds, and you get to preview it. If you don't like it, no big deal, you don't buy it. That simple. The newspapers are very affordable, and make it so easy to keep up with the news. And the size and weight! No more heavy novels to tote around. No more...
...

BlowoutBargains says "Low Priced, Low Quality, For Basic Infrequent Use!" about Sunbeam - Super Heavy Duty batteries

Avaliable in many dollar stores, these batteries are low priced and offer standard qualities of low priced batteries. They all devices to work depending on the amount of consumption that you device intakes it will determine how long the batteries will last. A typical flash light will last about less than a 24 hours before dimming can be seen before the batteries run out of charge. For low consumption items such as a typical alarm clock they provide a good battery life for about a few months before the need to replace them. In addition they are great for everyday items such as smoke dectectors which don't consume high amounts of energy. The low priced products provides the ability to have extras in case of needed replacement. Although they are low priced and offer standard quality, rechargeable batteries would be better over time, with five packages of these batteries rechargeable batteries would provide the same amount of battery life, with a smaller enviromental impact.
...

kailuen says "great product" about Amazon - Kindle

On the one hand I love my Kindle 1... I use it everyday, I subscribe to my favorite newspaper, I mark up my books with annotations, highlights and bookmarks.

On the other hand my Kindle 1 annoys me... unintended page changes, the awkward way I sometimes have to hold it to keep from hitting buttons, the sometimes slow page refresh, and the screen freezes that now has me traveling with a paper clip lest I need to do a reset while commuting on the train.

I've had the Kindle 2 in my hands for almost a day and have carried it on one commute. What follows is my "first impressions" review of the Kindle 2 from the perspective of an owner of the original K1. What's different, what's better and what's worse?

5 big things I immediately noticed as different:

First, when taking the K2 out of the box I immediately noted that the back cover is not easily removable (if at all) and won't slip off in my hands - as was frequent with the K1. The keyboard is also much much smaller and less obtrusive.
...

Antosha says "Soul of the e-reader!" about Amazon - Kindle

I'm a great believer in the e-book concept; having been reading e-books since the Apple Newton (and down through various Palms, Sony Reader PRS505, and Kindle 1). The dream has always been a portable electronic device that could hold a ton of reading material, automate subscriptions and facilitate quick easy downloads, and be as portable, as easy on the eyes, and as intuitive as a book. The Kindle 1 was the first really practical device to get close to that dream. The combination of the reflective e-ink screen, effortless Whispernet wireless cellular connection to Amazon (and the Internet - without requiring hooking up to a computer, ever), and Amazon's tremendous ability to rope in a critical mass of book and periodical content made the promise of the e-reader real for the first time. But the Kindle 1 had some rough edges that got in the way of effortlessly reading. Things like the buttons that made it easy to accidentally turn pages; the separate cursor on the side that could only select...
...

babers says "A real remote for your Xbox" about Xbox - Xbox Dvd Remote

The Xbox Dvd Remote is a great product to own if you own a Xbox and watch a lot of movies on it. It is a remote made by Xbox that has all the buttons you need to watch and scan Dvd's on your Xbox console. It is black with white and green buttons that glow in the dark, a great feature. The Xbox controller can seem strange to use when using it as a remote form when watching Dvd's on your Xbox, this is the solution. There are 27 buttons that offer the following: display, reverse, play, forward, skip, stop,, pause, skip+, title, select has 5 buttons to choose from, menu, back, and numbers 1 - 9 + 0. It works with an infra red module that is plugged into the front of your Xbox. The remote also runs on 2 AAA batteries. This is a great and cheap investment, and works great as an add on to your Xbox. They are also a great deal, considering thet noe only cost around $5.00 on sale. Good value, good and useful product to have on hand.
...

TunefulGal says "ZOUNDS! Clocks accurate to 1 second every 60 million years." about LaCrosse, Chaney, Sharp, more - Atomic Clocks

BLASTING OFF

Sorry. You can't do it without reading the directions.

Is is time to reset the clocks and watches or change batteries AGAIN? Can you get your fingers around the tiny knobs? Can you get the kitchen clock off the wall? ... and get it replaced again on the wall? And, hey, what time is it at this very second?

If you don't mind losing or gaining a second in 60 million years, GO ATOMIC!

One of the best buys I ever made was a Chaney Atomix Digital Desk Clock for about $12 at Office Depot. I've had it for half a dozen years without doing work other than changing the two AA batteries in a timely fashion.

A similar, updated Atomix is the Dartmouth model. It gets some of the lowest reviews online, however atomic clocks seem to have as many people cursing as complimenting. The gist? If you're going to give one to a 95-year-old relative, be sure that you know how the thing works in your own home.

Yes. We need to read the directions and save them. That said, I've...
...

The Energizer Advanced Formula "D" sized alkaline battery is a wonderful choice among batteries. The slogan for Energizer is easy to remeber; "They keep going and going..." and these advanced formula alkaline batteries do just that.

I purchased me some of these batteries not too long ago when my power was out. They were not any different in price compared to all the other brands that were available. I used them in my portable cd player/radio, which holds six, and they are still going! It has been nearly a month ago since I bought them and have listened to my cd player at least 12 hours using them, and have since used the batteries for electronic toys.

I would highly recommend Energizer Advanced Formula "D" sized alkaline batteries to anyone who wants long lasting batteries. They are always in stock and compete well in price against other battery manufactors. If you try them I'm sure you will see for yourself that Energizer batteries live up to their slogan.
...

Recharging batteries just makes good sense. I am going green and would rather not fill the earth with all of my old batteries. Of course you know I like to save money too and so that's where the Polaroid Battery Charger came into my life.

The Polaroid Battery Charger Features:

Comes with a car chord and household chord
Hold four batteries at a time
Batteries slip into place easily
Red light lets you know it's charging
Green light lets you know it's charged

The Polaroid Battery Charger only works for AA and AAA batteries but that covers many of our children's electronic toys and mine and husband's electronic gadgets.

It only takes about an hour to recharge batteries, which isn't bad. With the Polaroid Battery Charger I am not only saving green and going green but I am saving myself a lot of headaches too those headaches that include saying, "Sorry your toy doesn't work mommy has to go by batteries!"

I bought the Sony icd-px720 recorder at walmart about 3 months ago to record some of my college classes. I think it works great, if I needed to buy one all over again I would by this one again in heart beat. At first when I bought it I thought how great can it be for $50, but I have been pleasantly surprised. It comes with a connector for your computer so that you can download them onto the computer. I know this sounds like it should be for all recorders, but it is not. One of my friends in class her recorder you can't do this you can only listen to on the recorder. Since I can put it on the computer I can burn lectures onto cds for myself or for other student in the class. This is something for me to say that I can do these things because I am not at all technologically savy. It is easy to use and start recording, the only thing that took me a little longer to use on it was how to record to different folders on the device. But now that I have it is great for putting all...
...

When I purchased our digital camera last year, I purchased the Polaroid Rechargeable Batteries and Charger too. I really didn't want to be searching for batteries when my died so I decided to invest in this. I browsed the store's selection and looked for the best deal, this was it.

The Polaroid Rechargeable Batteries and Charger was the best value. For $20 you get the charger, 4 AA batteries, 4 AAA batteries, a home charger and a car charger. The charger is good size, it's not too bulky. The plug in for the wall flips down from the back of the charger so there's wires. Best thing of all, you can charge these in your car.

There is a switch for the amount of batteries you would like to charge, either 2 or 4. Just pop in your batteries and they recharge in just a couple hours The charger has a LED indicator to let you know once they are finished. The batteries can be charged up to 1000 times.

I definitely recommend the Polaroid Rechargeable Batteries and Charger. It not only saves you...
...

The Amazon Kindel is one of my very favorite possessions.

I am always looking for ways to streamline my carry on items for travel for both work and pleasure. I am the type of person who dreads being stuck somewhere without a good book to read. As a result in my PKD (Pre Kindel Days) I would often travel with 4 of 5 books for a 2 day business trip. As a natural speed reader, and with airline travel in the state that it is in I regularly read all of my books and had to purchase more.

Now I don't have that worry, no matter where I am I can download more books to read. I have only been in one location where it was hard to get a signal, but as soon as I went outside it was fine.

The books are delivered via whispernet, a wireless system that Amazon owns (?). It is quick and nearly fool proof as they give you the chance to confirm all purchases before they take place. In addition you can go online to the Amazon website and order books there as well.

Ok, first off let me start off by saying that I only got Direct TV because Verizon was not available in my home area. With that out of the way-- I personally perfer cable but Direct TV has lived up to it's hype. The guide is pretty user friendly. The remote is self explanitory. I can not picture my life without my DVR. However, every once in awhile the "to-do" list goes on the fritz and does not record what it say's it will record and at times records something that is not programmed to record. My TV isn't high definition therefore I cannot comment on the quality of High Definition first hand, although from what I've witnessed from my friend's TV with Direct TV, it is AWESOME and I am super jealous. Another feature I really like about this provider is the unique application where one can program the DVR from the internet (or via cell phone) Since it does come with a dish, be aware that weather can wreak havoc during storms. Other than that, definitely worth the price. Enjoy!
...

Direct TV is a casualty of my household cost cutting efforts. Because we liked having the NFLChannel, we stayed with Direct TV after one of our two owned receivers stopped working. We upgraded that receiver to a leased DVR. After that we learned they changed our package without informing us. And this year raised our bill without a warning. I researched and spoke to Dish Network who clearly laid out a program bundle to our liking with the price for the next 2 years. Then we called Direct TV. Try as they might they met the price for the first year but wanted a 2 year contract without knowing what the next year price would be. We said no.

With Direct TV the signal would be lost every time it rained. Because we own the dish and one receiver, they wanted to nickle and dime the repairs which we refused. Their overall customer service was okay when we needed help to set up the DVR when we added it, and the autobilling worked well.

Oh my Gee girl, you should totally get DirectTV!! :P DirectTV ROCKS! You can save a show so it will come on automatically without you looking for it later. There are tons of music channels. You can set your own guide name and color!! AWESOMEE! At one point I had Dish Network, it was okay but I think DirectTV is much better. The ONLY bad thing about it is when there is a storm your channel may not show due to satilite/cloud problems. But besides that DirectTV is awesomely sexy! If I had to choose between DirectTV and any other TV system thingy I would deffinatly stick with DirectTV because it is so worth the money. Oh! That reminds me. You only have to pay a small amount every month. It's GREAT! And I think the best feature is the search guide. You can look up shows/movies before they even play and set it to play when it comes on. There is also a button called "GAME" or something like that, when you press that some games come up. Its sooo fawkin cool. :P
...

Windows Vista from Microsoft Inc.

A lot of people have told me a lot of bad things about this operating system, and now I've been using this since August 2009. I did use XP x64 before this.

The operating system does use up a bit more RAM/Memory, but on the brighter side, it has improved my games performance by up to 70% or more!

The DirectX 10 that comes with Vista has saved me a lot of time trying to find ways of reducing the quality of my games to make them run better, and now I do not need to.

With a little bit of reading, you can get rid of the widgets and other stuff that does slow Vista down... some.

I recommend this to anyone who has a x64 bit Architecture, and a decent amount of RAM

I have 3 GB of RAM in this, and VIsta runs without any problems. Some older applications may not work with x64 bit, so if you like a lot of your stuff that may be inflicted with this, you can use the x86 (32 Bit) Windows Vista.

TunefulGal says "Winegard has these valley residents at 60 channels and counting!" about Winegard - 769 Series Antennas Digital/High Definition

At last! Our digital TV saga has come to a successful conclusion!

We owe it all to the replacement of our older antenna with the Winegard Digital/High Definition VHF/UHF Model HD7697P* Antenna. After battling the great tall, 11-lb box into the house, my husband, Tuneful Pal, set to work with what he knows best.

Pal moved the monster out of our diningroom, set up shop on a table outdoors, unfolded and adjusted the antenna, installed the boom brace, attached the cartridge housing then the coaxial cable, and mounted it on the first section of the multiple poles that would go from ground past rooftop. When the time came to raise the antenna, two men were needed. Thank heaven for neighbors!

The Winegard is a big sucker, but it was our last hope in gaining multiple channels for watching TV in our foothill valley. Our purchase of a new digital, Vizio TV (see review below) gained us several channels more than we'd had with the converter box, fossil analog TV, and old antenna. But we...
...

ribbit1976 says "Doesn't fit right, terrible headche to use" about Clearprotector.com - Extended Armor

Having used the ivisisble shield for my mp3 players, the Extended Armor by Clearprotector.com seemed to share the same features (i.e. invisible full body coverage, scratch resistant, military grade material) for a better price. Unfortunately, it did not provide full coverage, almost my entire Blackberry 8900 was covered, but still had 2 bare spots. The the shield started riding up on the phone & then bunching up, casuing the sticky underside to attahce itself to random objects. When I wrote to them about the problems they actually offered a full refund!! Now that is something I was not expecting, so they do have excellent customer care, too bad I'm unhappy w/ their product.
...

oneida1968 says "definitely worth reading" about aztak - 5" ebook reader

I lucked out and found the Aztak 5" ebook reader website a month ago while searching the Web for ebook readers. For those who do not know what an ebook is, it is an Electronic Book and is priced a good amount less than a paper book. The promotion price was unbelievable but this reader had the one feature I and most ebook readers need, .pdf (Adobe) compatible!! Most ebooks are sold in this format and for the past 6 months I was purchasing my ebooks in this format to read on my computer, it was a definite must. I have had this reader for approximately 3 weeks and really like it. I was able to pick from a variety of colors and it also came with its own protective case (with Kindle, you had to buy the case). Some positives are it will hold a 16Gb data card which is like, a whole lot of books, many thousands!! Also, with .pdf ebooks you can zoom for easy reading. This reader claims to be able to read a LOT of formats, but I haven't tested that as of yet. The reader is...
...

diburkhart says "Kodak- ESP7 HAS BEEN A NITEMARE!" about Kodak - ESP 7 All in one printer

We own the Kodak ESP7+1708. It has been a nitemare. Don't let the low cost printer cartridges trick you into buying this horrible printer. It constantly looses its calibration. The ink cartridges dry up so fast, you will constantly need to replace them. The printer resets itself all the time. So you have to constantly have to recalibrate, do the nozzle clean function, and print test pages. The wireless function doesn't work all the time either. It frustrates the whole family. I am thinking of going back to Best Buy and seeing if they can do anything for me because this piece of junk is only a few months old.
...

sunninjim says "Weight Watchers Points Counter Keychain Lets you keep track" about Weight Watchers Electronic Points Counter Keychain - Weight Watchers Points Counter Keychain

I love the Weight Watchers Points Counter Keychain! I just set the # of points that I am allowed for the day and then I click on it as a countdown everytime I eat. I deduct the points I'm eating at each meal and snack. When it's down to ZERO I'm done eating for the day! It's a great little contraption! I have it on my keyring and I keep it with me whereever I am. In the car, in the office, at home, etc. It's also very pretty, Purple and white. The screen is also a nice size. Very portable and very practicle. And it's very reasonably priced. At only $10 it is a great compliment to the Weight Watchers Points Calculator. Once you've calculated your points using the calculator you can plug in how many points you have for the day and then use the keychain to deduct how many points you're eating throughout the day until all of your points are exhausted. Once they're gone you're done! Simple and a great way to keep track!
...
