Matt says "The Amazon Kindle just might change the world...." about Amazon - Kindle

The Amazon Kindle is a revolutionary device. I have long been a believer that eventually books would go digital. I even bought a Rocket Book years ago. But the Amazon Kindle is different, and better and is a sign of a changing world. — Much has been written about the Kindle, so rather the write an entire review, I will just let you know what I like about it: — 1) The lightweight form factor is very holdable. — 2) The screen is clear, crisp and quite readable. It is not as good as a laptop but might even be better for your eyes over long periods of time. — 3) Being able to buy wirelessly is hugely convenient. Not having to pay any type of monthly subscription for the wireless is key. — 4) The books are cheaper than the same books bought in the store or online. — 5) Being able to have many books on one small device will forever change my vacations. — My only beef is that a) they don't have all the books I would...

dovey says "Helps the whole family get better sleep" about Homedics - Sound Spa Lullaby Relaxation Machine

This little machine has proven invaluable to my family. The sound spa has 6 different sounds, heartbeat, rain, stream, white noise, ocean and summer night. There is a volume control and a timer for up to an hour if you want it to turn off on its own. You can plug it in or use batteries. The design is simple and plain and very easy to use, very straightforward. — I use this in my bedroom to help block the noise of my husbands snoring, and outside noises. My 2 children each have one and they really help the kids sleep through the night. They like the white noise setting, but i have tried them all when my newborn was fussy and it was really amazing how the sounds calmed her down. Even now she likes to listen to the different sounds. — This is a cheapy, there are more elaborate ones on the market. But this works fine. I do notice some of the sound loops that perhaps the more pricey ones wouldn't have. And if you lose power you have to turn it back on, even with...

These batteries are priced good, not too high. They work great for battery powered toys unless they are remote control.
bkovacs says "Great price -- not enough power" about Digital Concepts - DVD-150R 75W Power Inverter

I love gadgets and find that I have a need to run some of my gadgety stuff in the car. Most of the things I want to run have batteries, but that means that batteries need to be charged regularly. Better still, if I can operate some things directly from standard AC power, I will get better performance and not have to worry about the batteries running down. Thus my quest for a power inverter that could operate my laptop computer in a car. My first stop in this quest was the DVD-150R 75W Power Inverter, which sold at Wal-Mart for a mere $15. — — What it is — — First of all, a power inverter is a device that takes 12-Volt DC power (such as you have in a car) and converts it to 120-Volt AC power like you have in your home. The Digital Concepts DVD150R has a built in plug that sticks directly into a cigarette lighter socket in a car. At the other end of the device is a standard three-pin receptacle like those in your home. It's housed in an attractive plastic...

Having a regular need for batteries in lots of things, an eye for bargains and a frequent need for batteries, I got a 20 pack of Ray-O-Vac AAA batteries. I was encouraged by the money back guarantee and the fact that the package reported that they tested as well or better than the competitors. — — Don't you believe it. — — I put a new set of these in my two wireless microphones. They failed halfway through a set I was recording. I had to switch to the stationery mikes to rescue the gig, which was being recorded. — — Well, I still had a bunch of these left over and no other AAAs, since I stopped using these after that little incident. So, I put one in my Gilette Force blade razor. The Duracell I had in there before had lasted a couple of months of every day shaving. The Ray0Vac? A couple of days. — — I still have a bunch of these left and so I will use them occasionally in non-critical type applications like remote contollers and the...

kid-kansas says "When you need to power all those Gadgets!!" about Chicago Electric - AA Rechargeable Ni-Cad Battery -4 Pack

We all have gadgets around the house that use batteries and they don't last very long until they need replaced. However some of us use rechargeable batteries as we know it saves us money in the long run. I go through a lot myself with my Solar Powered Lights, Wireless Remotes for the TV, Game systems and Flashlights. So I need to replace mine about once every 18 months and they don't come cheap. So when I saw these at Harbor Freight I decided to give them a try as they are much less expensive than the Big Brands out there. — — Chicago Electric AA Ni-Cad Rechargeable Battery — — These come in a 4 pack and cost me $4.99 so the price is a grabber right there. These are supposed to be able to be recharged up to 800 times and are made of Nickle Cadmium. These are rated at 700 mah (700 milliamps per hour) which is enough to run most anything that uses a AA battery in it. The package gives these as some of the uses: Portable CD Players, Digital Cameras,...

If there is one single most useless technological innovation of our day, it must be the e-book. The only thing more puzzling than the inability of big companies to understand why the consumer market ignores e-books, is that they keep flushing money down the toilet trying to make a better e-book reader. — — Fact is that e-books are basically a niche product. The only thing useful they do is to store lots of information that people don't want to read for those very rare occasions when they need to read just one little tiny bit of it. For an aircraft mechanic, having the entire library of technical manuals and readout codes for a Boeing 747 searchable and retrievable is an excellent use of e-book technology. For you and me, reading the latest Stuart Woods whodunit on e-book is a tedious, draining experience that would turn people off of reading forever. — — Consumers see e-books for what they are. They introduce an enormous range of technical problems to a...

I would have a hard time counting all the gadgets and gizmo's in my house that use either AA or AAA batteries. So a charger was the ideal purchase for my household, one that comes with 4 batteries is a plus. The Energizer charger comes in an array of packages, since I use AA batteries more I buy the one with AA batteries only. — — How it works — — The Energizer battery charger slides open and closed and the wall plug folds out of the way when not in use. With the flick of a finger it goes from AA to AAA mode. The batteries slide in rather simple and for my arthritic hands that is a plus in my book. It has an indicator light that comes on when you first plug it in and goes out when the batteries are charged. I always thought this was backwards, but it does allow you to know there is power in that outlet. — — Charging takes from 4-8 hours depending on the batteries charge...

When she's not using the toy, we use them in all sorts of other things: cameras, Wii remotes, etc. Great quality.
This metal detector is the best I have ever used. It is easy to use and easy to carry. This machine is state of the art and actually tells the user what is in the ground, how deep it is in the ground and pinpoints the object before you ever start to dig. It has several programs to choose from, such as Coins, Coins and Jewelry, Gold Prospecting, and All Metals. There are many customizing adjustments that help both the novice and expert find valuable coins and jewelry right in your own back yard. I have found thousands of dollars worth of coins and jewelry with this machine. I have tried others, and I got tired of digging up bottle caps and pop can tops. If you are interested in metal detecting, this is the one metal detector that I would very highly reccomend. Good luck, and happy...

I have had to replace my charger twice already. Though Energizer will send you a postage label, it will be over a month for them to send a check and a coupon so you can buy the products all over again. After about 3 months, the batteries stopped charging and the LED light started blinking. I had to test all of them to see which one was having problems--the way to test it is to see which battery alone causes the red blinking light. Slowly but surely, all the batteries started causing this. — But at the beginning, the product works really good. I'm glad they have the guarantee though. If the equipment you use the batteries with is damaged, they might replace that too (or pay for it.) — If you don't want the hassle, don't buy. Because they won't reimburse all the money spent. The $10 coupon they send covers part of your "investment." —...

Adorable.About the Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmark - Neon Purple — This bookmark is .5Hx1.75Wx7.75L" - very thin so as not to ruin books but long enough for most and wide enough for the display to be read. This comes with a battery installed. It is a regular clock as well as an alarm. You can set it to go off at any time or use it as a countdown timer. It also has a cumulative timer for you to keep track of how much reading you have done (mostly for students, I would imagine). I actually use the timer to keep track of my net hours. It's amazing how high that number is. I keep this bookmark in a journal but I have used it when reading a book as well. I like to keep it around for the clock feature and I even set the alarm when I am working to remind me to take a pill or to take a break or even to EAT! — The alarm is not very loud but the pitch is good and I can hear...
