The GE 5.8 GHz Phone/Answerer has a unique feature built in I've never seen in a product before, and is very useful when you have teenagers. That feature is multiple mailboxes. My husband and I get our messages, and our kids get theirs. No accidental erasures. Lots of memory, and it came with three handsets. Very handy. The only drawback is the ring volume.Even when turned up on high(level 4), it can be a little hard to hear if you're not in a room with one of the phones.Another great idea is the "Do Not Disturb" feature. When the button is pressed, a light shines on, and any calls received after pressing it are automatically diverted to the answering machine-quietly. You do not hear any phone ring, or them leaving a message.Great for sleeping or quiet time.An excellent product at an affordable...

Have never been truly satisfied with this phone. Sound is poor, never can get it loud enough, usually end up putting people on speakerphone so that I can hear them, hate doing that. Also unable to cradle the phone on my neck while talking, always seem to disconnect due to the placement of the on/off button. I will say that the phone does not have an interference problem, that is the only good thing about it. Wish that I had taken it back right after I bought it, now I am stuck with...

frankob23 says "I gave up on Uniden when these phones were outperformed." about Uniden DXI4286-2 2.4 GHz Twin 1-Line Cordless Phone

I purchased the twin line Uniden cordless phone bundle about a year ago. I finally just sold them in a garage sale. — I had many problems with this phone model. It came with two phones, one that plugged directly into my broadband modem and the other that didn't require direct access to the phone line. I received very poor reception on both phones, having to sit completely still while on them or I couldn't tell what the other person was saying through the static. I had trouble with the transfer button that let's you transfer a call from one handset to the other. Usually it just hung up on the caller. There were issues with the volume levels as well. One caller would be super quiet while the next would be too loud to stand. — I am unaware if there was a defect in the phones that I purchased or not but I couldn't stand the issues I put up with daily from them. That's why I sold them. I purchased a Bell phone from Walmart about a week ago and am much happier with it. —...

I can even drive halfway down my street before I lose the base signal. I just can't say enough about this wonderful product.

Had to return a few cordless phones because they had no range. 1 went dead as soon as I stepped out the door, another went out in the yard (and I have a big yard!) This Uniden works, can go long ranges and never loses frequency! This model came with 1 corded base unit phone, so if the power goes out you still have a dial tone--a plus. Also came with 1 cordless unit, which requires no phone jack, just an electrical outlet--easier. The cordless units are expandable, up to 5 or so phones, sold seperately. I bought a 2nd unit for a good price. And I got this cheaper online than what I would've paid in the store. Good deal all around! — ...

You get what you pay for. This is a cheap unit, for short term use. I had a base unit and 4 satellite handsets. Every single one of the handsets developed contact buttons that stopped working within 6 months of purchase. The warrenty replacement units did the same thing. I would never suggest anyone buy this product. The frustration of having the "5" button or the "answer/send" button not work consistantly is very stressful, and in the case of an emergency,...

It's true. You just can never have enough cordless phones. Why? Because they're cordless, and therefore, almost never where you expect them to be. The answer? Simple, buy some more. — Background — A few years ago I went out and purchased a VTEC 5.8Ghz Digital phone sysem. At the time I think it came fully expanded to 5 handsets including the base station. I figured there were only 3 of us. Five phones should handle us nicely. And, we're not talking about South Fork here. We're talking about a 2 story moderately large South Florida home. — But increasingly, especially as our youngest daughter has grown (all of 11 now), whenever the phone rings and I instinctively go to one of the base stations theres no phone there to greet me. Yes, you can hear them chiming throughout the house, but find one? Afraid not. And before long I can hear the call go to the answering machine. — Uniden - TRU9465-2...

I normally wait for the second round of new technology, but my house phone crapped out, i needed a replacement. After some research , it seemed a unit with bluetooth to link the cell phones to was the new thing. There are only a few on the market and this one seemed to satisfy all me needs plus some. I could have sworn it said on the box you could share phonebooks between handsets and the base. Sadly this is not the case. You have to enter all your numbers on every handset, YUK. The multi cell phone bluetooth link feature works pretty well. It even works from a greater distance than the manual says it's supposed to. The sound is clear and stable, the units are light and comfortable. There's lots of cell phone like options for caller id such as individual ring tones and pictures, but no way to add new pics ( unless I missed it in the manual). I would however trade those features for the ability to dial someone using the phone book in a linked cell phone. My Garmin does it, you'd think...

Get a different phone. I mean, this one is great at first, but when the down button stops working, it sucks. As far as I know, you can have four handets. They all have speaker capabilities, which is awesome for our use. But there is no caller ID or numbers on the base. So you can answer on the base, but not make calls. The answering machine is very intuitive and easy to use. We have yet to figure out how to use the speed dial. We've had this phone for less than a year and have already had to replace one of the handsets for the down button not working, and it cost us $10 to replace it under the warranty. Now all of them are broken, which makes clearly hearing what is being said ridiculously difficult. It's all distorted because I can't turn the volume down!!! I find myself holding the phone away from my ear, and I still have difficulty discerning certain words. Not fun. On the plus side, the belt clip is extremely durable. To sum it all up, the phone is pretty, but generally useless...
