In the computer store, I had some doubt as to whether these tiny little speakers would have good sound quality. After all, they are roughly 2 inches tall x 6 inches wide (not counting the woofer), and for many years, I used Boston Acoustic stereo speakers that were roughly 2 feet tall x a foot wide. I needn't have worried. I easily hooked these speakers up to my computer and the sound system is awesome! Far better than those Boston Acoustic speakers that were state of the art in the `80s, and better than the 7 year-old Labtec speakers I've used (which are pretty good.) I can't detect any distortion in the sound, and it has a 3-D feel to it. Music sounds fabulous on it. Highly recommended.
...

ayahyaha says "Great sound for their size; don't knock them around too much!" about Huihai - Computer Speakers D-166

These Huihai computer speakers are great little speakers. Relatively inexpensive (I found them on sale for $19.99), the sound far surpasses other computer speakers I've had of the same price. These speakers are sturdier, better made, and look much nicer than the plastic computer speakers I usually see for the same price.

They are sleek black, with real foam cores around the speaker itself. There is a volume and an on/off switch on the front of one speaker. The cables are fixed entry in to the back; there is in/out and of course the AC power cable. The power is labeled as 220V/50Hz 10W.

As most people do, I want my computer speakers to play my on-computer music better than my computer itself does. These definitely do the job. For such small speakers, they have great bass. I do wish there was a bass/treble adjustment knob, but so far I really haven't needed it. (Note: I don't listen to bass-heavy music such as electronic or hiphop, but mainly rock n' roll with a decent though not pounding...
...

costumegoddess says "OK as long as you don't mind only being able to use batteries" about Insignia - Flat-Panel Portable USB Speakers, Model: NS-PLTPSP

I got the Insignia Flat Panel speakers to plug into my MP3 player to have music in my sewing room while I work. what they don't tell you on the outside of the package is that they are ONLY USB or Battery powered. If you're using them as truly portable (Thrown them in your bag and use them with no other power source) they'll be fine, but they don't have the flexibility that most portable speakers do of being able to plug them into the wall. I'll be taking these back, because I'm not going to waste batteries on something that is a pretty stationary item for me. I just don't have the space for a large speaker set where these are going.

When I picked these up at the store the sales person warned me to be careful with the flat panel area because that's where the sound in generated and it's relatively fragile and will mess up the sound if it gets damaged at all, so I might stay away from these if you're rough on your toys. They do have small magnets to keep them together and protect...
...

take my advice on this one.. the dual electronics stereo speakers are a waste of money. they are very very low quality. for what i paid for these things, pieces of junk. they were blown about ten minutes after i got them... try to return them but was told that it was my fault and i could not get my money back.. they said it was due to playing them too loud.... i had no bass going to them and the treble set at 0, which is basically not on.... they are of very very poor quality.. and then for them not giving me my money back , they really are going to get a poor review on my part..... they try to say that these dual electronics stereo speakers are comparable to the bose speakers, but they must be lying. i through them in the trash and went and bought a pair of the bose speakers and have not had a problem with them yet........ the dual electronics stereo speakers are not a good buy, so save yourself the headache and do not...
...

catmom42 says "great sounds for the PC" about Logitech - X-530

I bought this set of speakers as a replacement for speakers that had gone out. I plugged them into the back of my computer and immediately fell in love with the music it was producing. The sound quality is stunning from each and every speaker. With the volume turned up there is absolutely no distortion. If you enjoy a lot of bass, the woofer kicks out the beat. For music that has a lot of different instruments, each speaker picks up its piece and has an outstanding sound. Movies sound great while playing over this set of speakers, esp. with the videos with a lot of explosions. You can hear every bit of the explosion and impact that caused it. I would recommend these speakers to everyone I know. The cost if very reasonable for what you get. I bought the entire set at Walmart for under $60. Once you listen to music or movies through these speakers, you will never want to listen to them through anything else.
...

Listenning to these babies at the demo kios at Frys store for just a couple minutes really convinced me I don't have to look further, just exactly what I wanted for my Zen vison M,a perfect match.I've already owned a pair of Creative GigaWorks T20 which I really satisfied with its sound quality but Companion 2 sounds even better, just a little excessive bass but that won't be a problem since I can ajust the equalizer in my mp3 player to get a well balanced sound.
Everyone at my work seemed supprised at the big life-like sound from these baby speakers when they heard the music. At $99.00 is somewhat pricey for a pair of portable speakers but worth the money.Recommend to anyone looking for quality in multimedia speakers.
...

wildcatkatie says "Five years later, my JBL Creature still gets the party going." about JBL - Creature

I received my JBL Creature speakers as a high school graduation gift from tech savvy, Apple-loving aunt, uncle & cousins. They know style and quality, so I was thrilled to receive these speakers even though I'd never heard of them.

The JBL Creature speakers have not disappointed me from the day I opened them way back in June 2004. The system includes a subwoofer and two speakers. You connect the speakers to the subwoofer and then connect the subwoofer to your computer. The treble and bass volumes are manually controlled on the subwoofer, and the volume is changed by pressing buttons on one of the speakers. It's that easy. Hardly any assembly required.

The JBL Creature speakers are portable if you want them to be. I have moved these speakers in my home before and taken them to parties with friends, but there are four cords to unplug and reorganize, which is annoying to me. I think I'll invest in a pair of portable speakers - now that they are on the market - and use these only for my computer....
...

aebuell says "A great deal on these speakers" about Altec Lansing - AVS300

I have had these Altec Lansing speakers for a couple of years now and they are still holding up strong and I've got no complaints whatsoever. They are a good, decent quality product at a truly reasonable price. I have to say they produce a truly excellent sound. I would have to say that their sound quality is quite comparable to many larger and more expensive speakers that I've used. The subwoofer that comes with the set is really exceptional. The set look sgood and doesn't take up a ton of space on your desktop.

The downside is that this is a basic set of computer speakers that doesn't have all of the features you would find on a higher-end set. For me, I'd have to say the biggest issue is the lack of treble and bass controls. Also, there's no port to plug in your headphones.

Overall, I would say that this is really a bargain product. I have bought other products from Altec as well and have nothing but good things to say about them.
...

jack2806 says "Hear the music where you want in your garden" about The Sharper Image - LP115BMS wireless indoor/outdoor speaker

I bought this wireless speaker at JC Penny's for about 60 dollars.

The brand name: The Sharper Image, type: LP115BMS

I listen a lot to radioprograms that one can tune in on through the internet. I also have a lot of music on my PC that I would like to listen to. This system allows me to enjoy it whilst I am in the garden, sitting on the deck etc.

The system consists of a transmitter that needs to be plugged in the 110V mains or 6xAAA batteries for power and a portable speaker that requires either 110V mains or 8xD-cell batteries.

The description indicates that one can go up to 100ft between the two. I have experienced that it could be even further than that, provided that the transmitter has a line of sight with the speaker.

The sound is about as good as it can get from such small speakers. I am satisfied with it, but I can imagine that people would not like the quality. I regard it as a very convenient item to have for cookouts, washing the car, exercising, cleaning up the garden...
...

lgantcha says "Altec Lansing computer speakers have great features" about Altec Lansing - Computer Speakers

I just bought the Altec Lansing computer speakers with a subwoofer and they have some very nice features that make listening to my computer very easy.

First, there is the power button on the front of the speakers. That might not sound like much but the speakers I had before were on the back of the right speaker. This speaker and the one I have now is in a tight space so I would have to pull the speaker out and then turn it on. Now all I have to do is push the button when I want the speaker on.

Second, There is a bass control on it so I can alter the bass to what I want to hear. The system also has a subwoofer so the bass control actuall does something. When I want to hear that gun blast from doom it sounds cool.

Third and most important it has a plug for headphones right on the side of the main speaker. Do you have someone else that is near you when you listen or play on the computer? When I am playing a first person shooter game my wife does not like to hear BLAM BLAM BLAM all the...
...

I have had my JBL Creature Speakers for 3 years or maybe 4. They were a Christmas present from my brother and I loved them then and still love them now.

They are easy to use. I usually hook them up to my laptop for watching movies and listening to music. I also attach my iPod Shuffle (generation 1) up to them.

The sound that comes out from them is great! Nice strong, clear sounds that really makes my down time (what little I have) enjoyable and relaxing.

The quality of the product is fantastic! They have lasted this long and have been moved from three different homes. I have a hard time staying in one place. I expect I will have them for at least another 4 years if not longer.

Funny side note is the shape...everyone who sees them for the first time get a kick out of the shape. I say it looks like the ghosts off of PacMan or Darth Vader's helmet (specially if you have a black set.) Mine are white. The other colors I know of are blue (kind of a denim), red, silver and grey. ...
...

Jazbec says "Best computer sound system I've ever bought." about Bose - Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker System

Priced at $400, the cost might make you wonder why Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker System is so much more expensive than others in its category. Hook it up to your computer, however, and you'll see that the sound this system produces is in a class of its own.

I have been buying personal computers since 1980 -- that's before Windows was invented -- and I have bought dozens of speakers that claimed to provide a rich listening experience. None can top the Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker System. It's hard to believe such full, rich sound can come from such a compact, unobtrusive system, but it does.

Along with its excellent sound, the system is elegantly beautiful in appearance as well as easy to use. I love the puck volume control. Give it one gentle tap and sound is muted, another and it comes back on, so handy when you have an interruption, like a phone call. The volume control is very sensitive and feels good to the touch.

The price might seem high, but it is more than justified...
...

This particular model of Altec-Lansing computer speakers probably isn't made anymore. I've had them for a number of years & models change. However - the name to remember is Altec-Lansing. I found these speakers years ago at Sam's Club. They were inexpensive (under $40 I think) and definitely a step up from the O.E. speakers from Gateway.

Like most things, they have both good & bad points. The good: Booming sound, especially the bass from such a small size. The bad: Only one control for bass & treble instead of separate controls. The good: Small size...the two smaller satellite speakers are 4" by 4" square on the bottom and maybe 5" tall. The system's sub-woofer really rocks. At 5.25 inches, the sub driver is substantially bigger than comparably priced units, and its 11-by-7-by-6-inch cabinet is nearly as big as models priced much higher. The bad: No headphone jack. Unless your PC comes with a headphone jack on a front port, as many of today's newer models do, you'll...
...

OldHippie says "Small Speaker - Big Sound" about Bose - 301 V

OK...so mine aren't the exact ones pictured. Mine are the original Bose 301's made back in the early '80's. That's right. My Bose 301's are at least 25 years old & still kickin'!

With the small "bookshelf" size, they fit almost anywhere and project sound EVERYWHERE. With my stereo system, I can use a floor bass, a center speaker and 4 surround sound speakers. I don't have that much room. I use 4 Bose 301's for that surround sound effect.

Years ago, I used 2 Bose 301's to back a pair of large Pioneer speakers doing portable DJ jobs. If it was a large hall, I used the 2 large Pioneer speakers up front and then stretched wires out for the 2 Bose 301's in the back of the hall. I once did a portable DJ gig at a high school gym pushing a mere 50 watts per channel! Granted, I used a graphic equalizer, but still...only 50 watts per channel.

You don't need a "Super System" to turn them on either. Anything starting at 10 watts all the way up to 150 watts will work. To say...
...

stunuts1977 says "Great sound at a fantastic price" about Infinity - Interlude il60

Trickle down technology is wonderful. The Infinity il60 is the largest of the Interlude series speakers. With 1" tweeter, 4" and 6.5" midrange drivers, and a 12" sidefiring 500watt powered subwoofer, these speakers will not disappoint. All speakers are composed of Infinity's proprietary C.M.M.D. (ceramic metal matrix diaphrams) cone technology that is found on the MUCH higher priced Prelude series speakers. I have had my il60's for over 5 years now and am still amazed at the sound they produce. ...

justjoshinya1890 says "Great for any system" about Infinity - Primus 150 Bookshelf Speakers

I am currently using these speakers as my fronts and am very pleased with them, i have had them for a year and a half and have not found any flaws with them exept that they are not bassy, but my infinty ps8 sub makes up for that. They are built very solidly, all wood and aluminum. The sound quality is very clear and crisp, even when played at higher volumes. The tweeter is what really makes this speaker incredible, especially when watching movies. You hear tons of sound that no bose or yamaha speaker can offer, and you almost do not need a center because the dialog from the speaker is impecable.. u can hear every word. Although more expensive than a home theater in a box... these speakers are a must for any built it yourself system. I did not give this a 8 or 9 due to the lack of bass, and that there is better speakers on the market... u just have to pay alot more $$$... i bought mine for 50 dollars each at circuit city after rebates....
