Screwedupspine says "A piece of junk" about Sanyo - VWM-950 VCR

This VCR is a piece of junk, plain and simple. I generally purchase higher quality merchandise, but I had a gift card from Wal-Mart so I decided to purchase a cheap VCR as an extra unit. With cable TV I cannot watch one show while taping another on the same TV, so an extra VCR seemed like a good idea. The unit has two taping modes instead of the normal three. When using the four hour mode, the playback is not viewable. While still under the one year warranty, the unit began eating tapes, literally destroying them. I sent it back for warranty service and they replaced it with a refurbished unit. The new unit works no better than the original. I still have it hooked up, but have not used it in quite some time, as its really not worth the effort since I know what the quality of the tape will be....

titricata says "you get what you pay for" about Goldstar - GBV441 VCR

For the first two or three months I was satisfied with this product. However, after only a couple of months one of the audio chanels quit working. The product only has a 30 day warranty. This product was a gift for one of my children. I was not happy to have to replace it so soon. Although this product is inexpensive compared to other brands it is not a good value....
