momswork2 says "The Crosley CD Recorder has limited use." about Crosley CR245 Turntable

The Crosley radio, turntable and CD recorder sounded like it would do everything I needed or wished to do regarding playing and recording my music. We have a large collection of vinyl records that I wanted to make cds of to take the music with us an a long car trip. I was pleased that I could easily figure out the directions on recording the cds. You can take one song off an album or the whole album with ease. It had a very nice sound when played back from the recorded cd. My disappointment came when I tried to play the cd in the cars or on another stereo or anywhere. You can only play it on the Crosley which I usually use to play the original vinyl record so I have no need to play a recorded cd on it! The manual says that this unit will only play cd's recorded on the MP3 format. I did not realize that the unit did not record in a MP3 cd format to play on other stereos or computers. I hope this saves another from making a 200 dollar purchase on what they thought would be useful but ends...
...

After complaining for years about not being able to enjoy my records, my husband bought me a Sony Turntable this past Xmas. One of the nicest things about this new turntable is that it can connect to my computer via a USB cable, from which I can then burn a cd! It's the coolest. However, listening to records and hearing them sound the way they were meant to be heard (you know - canned sounds, scratchiness, etc.) totally takes me back to my high school days, laying on the bed, listening to my records, talking on the phone for hours - AWESOME!
...

Dj3B says "It makes you want to Scratch" about Technics - SL1200MK2

The new SL-1200MK2 made from Technics has become a necessity for all clubs and all disc jockeys that use these wheels of steel for their art. With a direct drive motor and the use of quartz technology it is easy to get the sound of the scratch out of this machine with the comfort of knowing that the motor can withstand the abuse. This turntable has the ability to reach full speed in .7 seconds. Quick stops are achieved with the fully electronic braking system. As most Disc jockeys business is from club to club, the SL-1200MK2 has a tough aluminum die cast casting. The underside is made of a heavy rubber material that not only makes the unit stronger and safer to transport, but it also helps to keep the record from skipping when bass lines hit in the club. The turntable comes with a rubber slip mat, however as any professional Disc Jockey knows it would be best to get some "Table Cloths" or "Butter Rugs" if you plan on scratching. Four large-size feet also help to absorb unwanted vibrations....
...

Anyone who came of age before the advent of the CD-ROM in the eighties, most likely has a large collection of Long Play (LP 33-1/3rmp) and Short Play (SP 45rmp) albums collecting dust in some dark coat closet. At least that was my particular situation. I lost my top of the line Denon turntable to my ex-wife; twas a small price to pay for my freedom, hence I have been without a turntable for almost ten years. Every year I made a promise to myself to acquire a new one, and this year for Christmas Santa delivered one in the form of a Technics SL-BD20D semi-automatic, belt drive, turntable.

In the box:

o Turntable with attached cartridge

o Turntable cover

o Rubber platter mat

o 45 rpm adapter

o Phono Cartridge

o AC power cord (68")

o Stereo RCA cable (32")

o Ground wire

o (2) Instruction manuals (English/French); registration cards

o (2) repairs/parts lists (US/Canada)

What I wanted in a turntable was and easy to use, inexpensive, semi-automatic, but still responsive turntable...
...
