knocko says "Dish does not live up to it's moving slogan" about dish - VIP 622hd dvr

I have been a customer of Dish corporation for9+ years.Because I live in rural area,I can only watch TV by satelite due to mountians ,near my dwelling.I was sold on HD tv system offered by dish, they charged me $100 extra for my hd tv dvr receiver and had to give my 2 receivers that I had paid to a local dish distributor for $350+ dollars.I also learned after that I was bound for 2yr's by contract,(in the very small print) that the installer said that they didn't fill out in the contract they had me sign. Also they forgot to send the Green HD cable, so he could not complete the HD DVR installation,he called the dish main office to request the cable, they told him and myself ,that I didn't need it for HD reception. After many calls and many supervisors/managers later, they finally agreed to send replacement, but I would have to install it myself. After all of this, under threat of contract breachment I have used my receiver with only moderate problems,I completed 2 years use.ON day......

febrile says "Nice to record hi-def dvr content" about Hughes - HDDVR Satellite Receiver

The DVR is a nice device. I very rarely am burdened by long, boring, commercial breaks in programming. We verty rarely watch programs at the time they are playing so you are allowed to speed through TV ads, commercials, etc. Season pass helps one to obtain all episodes of a favorite program. It does decrease your desire to leave the house. It is difficukt to watch all the media that we have recorded, but I can't imagine life without it now....

drewwest says "GREAT!!!" about Hughes - HDDVR Satellite Receiver

I love my Hughes HDDVR. Compared to cable, Hughes offers so much more at a better price. The programing is easy to start a series but deleting a series is hard. Occationally the recording is poor which may be due to weather which is understandable. I am not sure what HD DPI it is recording and unable to figure out how to check. All and all the system and programing is great. A much better value tha cable.
...

TheBard says "An entry-level DVR Device with problems " about Dish Network Dish PVR 501 System

Bottom-Line: If you want an entry level Personal Video Recording device, you can't go wrong with the PVR-501

I have not subscribed to cable television since my wife and I moved into the new house we had built outside Chicago some five years ago. When we moved into our new housing development cable was not available, despite being told it was coming any day now by then AT&T Cable. Eventually, after much discussion with the cable company wherein they continued to hedge about when service would be available in my area, I decided not to wait any longer and called Dish Network.

Dish Network now has several plans wherein you can lease satellite receivers from them at a rate of $4.99 a month per receiver. The plan we chose was for a Dish Personal Video Receiver - 501 (PVR-501), and two 301 series satellite receivers (one for the guest bedroom, one for the master bedroom where cable lines had already been laid by the builder). We also received free installation, service agreement,...
...
