TruthRevealed says "Poor Quality.....1000 Watts Of Nothing" about Philips - HTS3555 Home Theatre System

Extremely underpowered subwoofer, barely heard at all and when you do its not clean, sounds very distorted. Lack of clarity from the rest of the speakers. No speaker Controls to adjust for room size, +- to speakers. No control over the system, individual taste is non exsistent. The sound presets, Drama, Action etc.. are so similar there is hardly a defineable difference. None of the presets increases the subwoofer loudness to any acceptable degree, clarity or speaker clarity. There are many other systems that have less watts but have better clarity, better subwoofer, come with all the speaker controls and are equal to or cheaper in price. The Phillips HTS3555 is a poor quality system with no user control that I compare with some of the first bottom end systems that have ever come out. —...

guy48065 says "Convenient--but limited" about Philips HTS8100/37 Theater System

The Philips HTS8100/37 is a very nice little package for playing DVDs, CD's, MP3 discs. Works best with the shiny little discs--watch out if you really need iPod or USB connectivity. It appears the software this soundbar is built around isn't as current as the devices it's intended to function with. My 80GB iPod Classic (current model at time of review) isn't supported (no reason given in the manual or on the Philips website). "Device not recognised" is all I see when I plug my 4GB Sandisk "Cruzer" in. The thumbdrive is FAT32 file system as mandated in the owner's manual. No mention of this on Philips Customer Support webpages. — — Pictures of the soundbar & subwoofer always omit the wiring. The consumer is supposed to believe it doesn't need wires, I guess. The iPod dock has its own cable, the sub has a fat umbilical that carries the soundbar AC power, FM antenna (!), as well as the sub frequencies. Plus of course wires to/from the TV. Still neater by far than...

The LG Z-5300e THX Certified 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System is the best set-up you'll find for the price. — You get 5 speakers (center, rear left, rear right, front left, front right) and a sub with all necessary cables. The speakers have removable faceplates for that custom look. All of them are wall-mountable or table/shelf ready. — What I love about this system is the all-in-one subwoofer/amplifier. You don't need to go out and buy an a/v receiver with these speakers because you just plug the sub into the wall and the speakers into the back of the sub. Hook up the RCA cables to the back of your TV and you're all ready for an awesome theater experience. I use mine with an HDTV/Blu-ray Discs/etc and it all sounds great. For the price LG is asking, you won't find another system that sounds like it (or is THX Certified). LG is a great company and I find myself buying many of their...

I got one of these for my in-laws, and one for my parents. Neither of them are tech-savvy, but both enjoy their Apple TVs very much. They don't use their Apple TV to watch movies, podcasts or listen to music. Instead, they both use it to watch their vast libraries of digital (or scanned) photos on their TV. My in-laws have a large iPhoto library and my parents have a large directory structure on their hard drive with photos. Both work well when watching the photos. It's turned their new 42" LCD TVs (both got new ones in the last year) into large "slide show viewers".

What can you say....it's a Bose system, and they're the best at what they do. As it's only a 2.1 system, the sound, presence, and clarity are overwhelming for the sheer minuscule size of the system. Without having to run wires around the room, it offers theater type sound without the clutter. Two small speakers, a sub-woofer and a control console with a DVD-CD player make up the system. — Wall mounting brackets or speaker stands do not come with the system and have to be purchased separately should you desire them, or don't have a well placed shelf to set the speakers upon. — Bose being the leader in sound systems, isn't nearly the leader in DVD systems. The DVD player in the 321 systems is not HD, which it should be considering the price. An HD system can be added as an auxiliary, but is not included in the package. The other issue I have would be Bose's claim of incredibly easy installation, which was partially true in...

ballhawkdawk says "Simple, yet very effective!" about Bose - 3-2-1 GSX Home Theater System

So, you may have heard the saying, "all highs, no lows...bose.". Well, they must have missed this system when they came up with that! — — Just about every surround sound system includes: a receiver, a center channel speaker, right front and left front speaker, right rear and left rear speaker, and subwoofer. With this bose system, you get a slimline subwoofer, two tiny front (left and right) speakers and a receiver/DVD player combo unit. Bose definately proves dynamite comes in small packages! From the remote, to the sub, you can easily tell, just by looking, that this is a quality system. Bose has always and will always go the extra mile for their customers. — — The 321 has tons of bells and whistles, but as for this review, we'll just keep it simple...... — — I've installed this system, as well as many other surround sound systems, and I must say, as far as symplicity goes, this system takes the cake! Also, as far as other manufaturer's...

The sound range is excellent, and you can really hear all of the range, including the base. — It is nice that they have a payment plan, as this item is somewhat expensive, but it is well worth the price to have such great sound in such a small unit.
Jordy4321 says "It's sleak, it's silver...and it skips!" about Koss - Koss KS2503 Theater System

This DVD player/sound system was bought in Dec of 2006, and it was supposed to be the inexpensive way to have a home entertainment system. The DVD player came with 6 speakers for surround sound, remote, Radio tuner, played mp3 and jpeg files, and seemed ideal to turn my otherwise unimpressive living room into a symphonic masterpiece of Dolby fury. Well...that dream died. The speakers are of mediocre quality at best, but the real problem is that the clips which holds their audio wires in on the back of the DVD player are cheap little plastic things that don't work. So at best, I've got half the speakers going at any given time. And if you should get them all turned on and someone so much as steps in the vicinity of the TV, the vibrations will cause at least one wire to fall out of its clip. — And the second problem is that this DVD player skips. Yeah, that's right, it skips. The first time it happened, I took my DVD back to Blockbuster and got a new one. ...

This is a nice, small-sized unit that puts out good sound when playing CD's. However, the radio, both AM and FM does not have good reception at all. The antenna is a small, skinny wire that I ended up having to drape over a picture that is hanging above the stereo unit. But it is only about 24" long and does not pick up a good, decent signal most of the time. The price of the stereo unit was $140, which it turns out was too high in my mind. It has a three-CD changer. — The instruction manual that came with the unit said it will play CD-R's but I am having problems getting it to play them, especially consecutive songs. Sometimes it just plays the same song over and over. — I am disappointed that there is no shuffle option for playing the CD's, and I have also had a lot of trouble trying to figure out how to program the unit for specific radio stations. It has the option, but, once again, the...

I purchased this home theater system from Best Buy during a great sale. I paid $168.00 for it. From the time I took everything out of the box, until I turned it on, I think only 1/2 hour had passed. Each speaker is color coded and they give ample speaker wire for the rear speakers. The tuner picks up stations well, and even programmed the ones it gets in well by itself. There are a few different sound settings as can be expected, I use the same one for all my viewing. The subwoofer is not overpowering at all and doesn't get ridiculously distorted at high volumes. The only down side to this system is that you can not set the levels of the individual speakers, including the subwoofer. Therefore, placement of the speakers is critical. I find the 2 front speakers and center channel sound best right in front of the tv itself, spread about 2 feet apart from each other. The 2 rear speakers I have hung on the wall at ear level...
