dmdifalco says "Superb Bose-iPod Speaker System" about Bose - iPod Speaker System

Bose iPod Speaker System is the closest thing to being at a real Concert Live! I am floored by the superb sound quality that it delivers...especially for being so small and compact. I like that you can use the remote from anywhere in the room to use the ipod playlist. The Bose iPod Speaker System is really what closed the deal on my wanting an iPod. I certainly wouldn't use it like young people with headphones all day long. The rich sound of the Bose was better than many a stereo I had used in the past. I like that it is lightweight and easy to carry from room to room or even outdoors for summer picnics. The Bose iPod speaker system also has additional input to connect with your cd or dvd player. Price is somewhat high in comparison to other brand iPod speaker systems but this is the top of the line. If you are going to put so much money into an iPod it only makes sense to get the best to enjoy your purchase.
...

janiegain says "Amazing Sound!" about Bose - 3-2-1 GSX Home Theater System

I received the Bose 3-2-1 GSX Home Theater System as a house warming gift this past month and had not had the chance to set it up yet, so it sat on top of my closet for a couple of weeks. Last night I stumbled upon it as I was looking for a DVD in a storage box in the closet and I just had to set it up. Really easy to get started. Everything is color coordinated and the best thing... no wires running to the back of you room! The sound quality is amazing! It really does sound as if you are in a theater. I have had people tell me that they were dissatifised with the product, but I wouldn't count myself as one of those. I don't use it a lot on a daily basis, maybe 1 or 2 days out of the week for movies and a few hours a day to watch some tv shows. I have never experienced too big of an issue with it. Some minor skipping when I am watching a movie, but that might just be the DVD itself. Also, I can set it up with my cable box and get wonderful sound out of it. The price is pretty up there,...
...

sanfran8877 says "Awesome Home Theater package!" about Onkyo HT-S9100THX 7.1 Channel Receiver and Speaker Package Theater System

I bought this a few years ago and was immediately interested particularly because the system comes with all the speakers you need and some of the basic wiring components. The best part about the Onkyo HT-s990THX home theater in a box is the amount of listening profiles you get. There is one for THX video games, another for basic television, neural surround sound, Dolby II, etc. The remote control is simple to use and allows you to calibrate each speaker and the sub woofer in only a matter of minutes. Hooking it up did take a while, but the experience that it provides is simply outstanding. The overall look of this home theater system is great too. It's a simple black with the THX logo on all of the speakers. The price is not really too bad, especially now that it's a little bit of an older model. If you're looking for something simple, but still a bit ahead in its class, I would venture for this HTIB.
...

sircutbreaker says "I adore the apple tv" about Apple - TV (Home Theater)

I hacked the Apple TV by purchasing the program from ATVFLASH.

Once you unlock the ATV, there is no stopping you. I have a time capsule router hooked up to the cable in my home theatre stack. The ATV is hooked up via ethernet to the time capsule. I have port forwarding to another computer in the house that I use to download whatever I want to the USB drive hooked up to the time capsule. The USB drive is 1TB.

So, it works like this:

The ATV streams movies from the shared USB drive.
The pictures from my itunes are also synced to the ATV.... they are my screen saver.

I have a Logitech 720 harmony remote control that is set up to control everything. Including my AV Reciever.

I have never seen or used a more pleasurable home theatre system. I have TONS of movies and I have organized them all on the USB drive.

Thumbs up for the Apple TV... it has really done the job... (but only after unlocking it)
...

chellerose79 says "It's cool, It's Apple!" about Apple - TV (Home Theater)

Another great innovation from Apple. It makes TV viewing really enjoyable, you can do lots of fun things with it...If you are constantly purchasing/renting and downloading movies and TV shows to your Mac or PC, well, you are in for a treat. You don't have to watch them from your computer..You can enjoy watching them on your widescreen TV and your surround audio system.. You simply set up your Mac or PC and with the Apple TV device, everything you want to view is transferred to your TV. You can also listen to your music on your home theater system from your iTunes collections...And to make it more fun, while you play your songs, you can link all those photo slideshows you've been saving in your in computer up to your TV, so it's like you have a huge digital photo frame in your living room! It's cool!!... There is a downside to this device though, sometimes it doesn't synchronize with iTunes, so we have to try again & again to finally update it with the new downloads in our Mac..Nonetheless,...
...

dstuder says "Exciting!" about Apple - TV (Home Theater)

At Macworld in January of this year, Apple formally announced the Apple TV (previously known as the "iTV"), an iTunes-compatible streaming media device meant to revolutionize the way we watch television. The announcement of the Apple TV also came at a time when Apple unveiled the iPhone and officially changed the company name from Apple Computer to Apple Inc.-a move that indicated Apple's seriousness in focusing more on lifestyle products for the general consumer than on traditional computers. Today's Apple wants into every facet of our lives, including our living rooms.

And so, after several delays attributed mostly (among the rumor mill) to unfinished software, the Apple TV finally started shipping on March 20. Fans and critics alike have eagerly looked forward to its release so that we can decide once and for all how Apple could compete in the quickly-saturating downloads-to-TV market.

We're approaching the Apple TV from a slightly different perspective than most of Apple's prospective...
...

I bought the Bose ipod docking station for my husband for Father's Day. What a hit!!! Yes it is far more expensive then their competitors but worth every dime. I had never owned any Bose speakers prior to this purchase so was a little leery buying a docking station for $250 when there are plenty on the market for $100. There is no comparison in sound. The sound for the music is incredible. Whether I am playing Cat Stevens, Paul Simon or 50 Cent....the sound is consistently phenomenal. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a docking station.
...

The old adage "You get what you pay for" almost always holds true in electronics, and this example is no different. It's a cheap system that provides surround sound via 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer and has a 5-disc DVD changer included. The major problem with this system is that it can only seem to handle activity for about 2 hours. Not a problem if you're watching a short movie, of course, but on the frequent occasion that I watch a movie longer than that or want to use it as a speaker system for my iPod for any length of time, it's an issue. Basically, it seems to overheat and just stops working at about this point. The fan runs continuously in this unit and even that doesn't help... Other than that issue, the system is just bad instead of terrible. The sound is decent quality, although not great; it has trouble reading some mildly scratched discs; the remote control doesn't work at certain angles; and it is very slow to react to requests. If all you want is a surround sound...
...

The Apple TV has revolutionalized the way to rent movies. You can select a movie, download it online, and begin playing it in a few seconds. The transfer of the data from your computer to the Apple TV is very quick. You can either download movies directly to the Apple TV or you can download them to your computer and transfer them to the Apple TV. Files are large so I would recommend buying a large storage disk to save all the movies once you have watched them. You can either buy movies or rent them. If you rent you have 30 days to play it, so you can setup a time to download movies and then come back the next day and watch an entire day's worth of movies on the Apple TV. Now if they can just incorporate HD TV programming with it, you can release yourself from the bind of cable or Satellite.
...

mellou says "Philips Home Theatre can't get replacement parts" about Philips - HTS3555 Home Theatre System

I purchased a Philips Home Theatre system with DVD player, model HTS355537 in December of 2007. In November of 2008 it stopped working and I took it in for my extended warranty coverage repair. Sears was forced to replace the item since Philips no longer has replacement parts for that model. I have to take a Samsung unit for comparable cost. I have to wait over a month for the Samsung to arrive at the store and I have the Philips speakers mounted into the ceiling (I did not have to return them to Sears). My issue is that if the Philips speakers do not attach to the Samsung, then my husband has to unmount all 5 Philips and then rerun the Samsung. No easy task in basement ceiling tiles that fit tight. So he probably won't do it so that he doesn't chip the ceiling tiles. Seems a shame that a DVD player that cost $199 plus tax can't even last a year.
...

TruthRevealed says "Poor Quality.....1000 Watts Of Nothing" about Philips - HTS3555 Home Theatre System

Extremely underpowered subwoofer, barely heard at all and when you do its not clean, sounds very distorted. Lack of clarity from the rest of the speakers. No speaker Controls to adjust for room size, +- to speakers. No control over the system, individual taste is non exsistent. The sound presets, Drama, Action etc.. are so similar there is hardly a defineable difference. None of the presets increases the subwoofer loudness to any acceptable degree, clarity or speaker clarity. There are many other systems that have less watts but have better clarity, better subwoofer, come with all the speaker controls and are equal to or cheaper in price. The Phillips HTS3555 is a poor quality system with no user control that I compare with some of the first bottom end systems that have ever come out.
...

guy48065 says "Convenient--but limited" about Philips HTS8100/37 Theater System

The Philips HTS8100/37 is a very nice little package for playing DVDs, CD's, MP3 discs. Works best with the shiny little discs--watch out if you really need iPod or USB connectivity. It appears the software this soundbar is built around isn't as current as the devices it's intended to function with. My 80GB iPod Classic (current model at time of review) isn't supported (no reason given in the manual or on the Philips website). "Device not recognised" is all I see when I plug my 4GB Sandisk "Cruzer" in. The thumbdrive is FAT32 file system as mandated in the owner's manual. No mention of this on Philips Customer Support webpages.

Pictures of the soundbar & subwoofer always omit the wiring. The consumer is supposed to believe it doesn't need wires, I guess. The iPod dock has its own cable, the sub has a fat umbilical that carries the soundbar AC power, FM antenna (!), as well as the sub frequencies. Plus of course wires to/from the TV. Still neater by far than a typical component......

The LG Z-5300e THX Certified 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System is the best set-up you'll find for the price.
You get 5 speakers (center, rear left, rear right, front left, front right) and a sub with all necessary cables. The speakers have removable faceplates for that custom look. All of them are wall-mountable or table/shelf ready.
What I love about this system is the all-in-one subwoofer/amplifier. You don't need to go out and buy an a/v receiver with these speakers because you just plug the sub into the wall and the speakers into the back of the sub. Hook up the RCA cables to the back of your TV and you're all ready for an awesome theater experience. I use mine with an HDTV/Blu-ray Discs/etc and it all sounds great. For the price LG is asking, you won't find another system that sounds like it (or is THX Certified). LG is a great company and I find myself buying many of their products....

They don't use their Apple TV to watch movies, podcasts or listen to music. Instead, they both use it to watch their vast libraries of digital (or scanned) photos on their TV. My in-laws have a large iPhoto library and my parents have a large directory structure on their hard drive with photos. Both work well when watching the photos. It's turned their new 42" LCD TVs (both got new ones in the last year) into large "slide show viewers".
