matilda111 says "wonderful, crisp, clear sound!!" about Sony - CDP-CD375 CD Player

When my Toshiba Cd player bit the dust I thought that I could get it easily fixed. I was so wrong. To peplace the "beam" in my Toshiba would cost more than it would cost me to buy a new CD player. My brother said that that was the way that they were built today. Throwaways! I did my homework and found that Circuit City had just what I needed and at a lower price than their competitors. Ordered online, picked up at the store and no shipping cost. Low cost extended warranty. I'm very happy and all is good! Nancy...

MattA75 says "If it Can Survive My Cat, It Can Survive Anything" about Sharp - XL-MP130 Five Disc CD Changer

In the fall of 2005, I finally decided that my old shelf stereo system would need to go. It was struggling to read CDs, making my music listening nearly impossible unless I wanted to listen on my at the time very old computer. For someone as into music as I am, this was completely and utterly not going to work. — I started looking around at prices. I had decided I wanted a five disc changer, just to avoid having to put in and take out discs repeatedly. However, I was on something of a tight budget, so I didn't want anything too ridiculously priced. I was perusing the selection at Circuit City when the XL-MP 130 Five Disc Changer by Sharp caught my eye. At $150, it was right in my price range. I did a bit more research on it, found that most people who bought it loved it, so I went back and grabbed one. — Two years later, I've gotten a good amount of use out of it. The sound is crisp, even when the volume is being...

BillSanJose says "Low priced, but disc changer sometimes can't read the CD" about Sony - CDP-CD375 CD Player

Not a lot of CD player reviews here. This was fairly cheap, and works mostly OK. It's a 5 CD changer. The only problem is that sometimes it won't play a perfectly good CD. Opening and closing the tray fixes that. — Otherwise, I think all CD players send essentially the same signal to the receiver, so sound quality shouldn't be an issue. I remember terms like 8x oversampling in the 1990s, but I figured that was important only for scratched CDs. I'm not a huge audiophile in that the music fidelity doesn't have to be perfect for me, but I do love music and want something that works. And this one usually does. —...

Saxguy says "The CD mechanism locked up making it useless" about RCA - RS 2664 CD Player

I had seen this system at Best Buy and bought it when another model, a Sharp ES240 failed. — I was looking for good, loud sound and a reliable mechanism so I could put at least 3 different CDs in it, the ones I use most frequently for play alongs with my students. This was rated at 300 watts and had a 5-cd mechanism. — The sound was fairly good, particularly with the mega bass and surround sound adjustment. However, it seemed no more powerful that the Sharp unit which was rated at 180 watts and less powerful than the unit I replaced it with, an LG shelf system rated at 160 watts. — It was also a little too large for the space, so I had one of the speakers on the floor. — From the start, I had problems with CDs skipping, which would get better with cleaning, but still much more than with the Sony Boom Box I had used for years.Worse, the CD mechanism locked up and I had to turn the power off and shake the unit to get the CD in there out. — So, I...
