While originally this was not my first choice of colleges, this past two years has flown by! I am set to graduate in 9 weeks and officially become a RN. This school does not carry a waiting list from semester to semester. It admits two classes each year, a fall class & a spring class. If you enter in the fall, you graduate in the spring and if you enter in spring(as I did) you will graduate in the fall. Make sure to get your application in early, and make sure everything is up to date and right there for them to evaluate. It has to be mentioned here that, from a students' perspective, it is much easier on you as a nursing student if you have all of your core classes done and out of the way. This is not a requirement, but it definitely leaves you more time to study. It is a very challenging program and the clinicals let you practice what you have learned and gain confidence. The instructors are strict and hard, but I feel that I am a better nurse for it. I know that when I graduate, I will...
...

Tamara09 says "WCCS Nursing Programs are actually great programs." about George C. Wallace Community College Selma - Alabama

WCCS is a overall great school. The nursing program is just awesome. The instructors are all wonderful. If you need help they will willingly stay after school to help you if you need it. If the instructor sees that you are a person who is actually there to learn and you just cant seem to get it, they will teach you how to achieve in the area that you are lacking and stay after school to help you. I feel that they want the best for their students. I am a student of the CNA program and I needed to catch up on some things that i didn't finish the day before and the instructor came in on our day off and helped me with what i needed. So I say that WCCS is just a great school and the Nursing Program is just wonderful. If you are a person who want to enter the Nursing field, I personally would recommend Nursing Program. I am in the CNA program and I see how the instructors are friendly and there to help, so I am pretty much sure the other instructors are even though i haven't met them one...
...

mygyzmom says "FTCC provides an excellent education at a reasonable price!" about Forsyth Technical Community College - North Carolina

Forsyth Technical Community College is perfect for anyone from the recent high school graduate to the 66-year-old who has just discovered she doesn't want to sit at home all day! There are many other degrees available, but I would like to speak specifically of the Associate Degree in Nursing program.

As a student fresh out of high school, I felt overwhelmed with all the information I was asked to absorb, and very intimidated by the idea of caring for a patient with various ailments. The instructors understood and even expected this, and provided just the right amount of support and encouragement when needed. They fostered independent thinking and practice, but I always felt they were there to help me succeed, not there to try to make me fail.

I graduated from the ADN program in 1987, and have worked in the Obstetrics and Gynecology field ever since. Of course, I didn't learn everything I would ever need to know about nursing, but I feel that I received a solid knowledge base that...
...

The evening program at Diman Reg. Voc. Nursing School is very difficult if you plan on continuing to work while going to school. Classes are M-Th evenings and shortly after starting classes, clinical rotations start, i.e.hospital/nursing home and that is two days a week, doesn't leave much time to study. Much needs to be prepared before caring for the patients. Charts need to be reviewed, know the diagnoses, signs and symptoms of patient's illness and need to have knowledge of medications, and the special needs of each patient. Even though the program is 2 years, I preferred to attend that as opposed to the 1 year program. Yes, I did continue to work full-time as well. It has been very rewarding returning to school at such a late age ( 45 ) and really appreciating the challenges facing one in this profession. The nursing staff are there to help you and teach you all the steps in becoming the best nurse you can be. There are many obstacles, however, it has been well worth every...
...

Florida International University (FIU) School of Nursing has awarded entry-level baccalaureate degrees in Nursing for the past 25 years.

All undergraduate and MSN-level tracks of study are fully accredited by the regional authority, SACS, as well as the Florida Board of Nursing (for entry-level BSN program), and CCNE, a Nursing accrediting body. Graduates of the BSN entry-degree program are eligible to take the license examination to become a Registered Nurse. In addition to the BSN-entry option, RN's seeking the BSN degree may enroll in a computer-enhanced degree completion option.

In addition to FIU, there are two more university-based Nursing programs in Miami-Dade County, Florida, which private universities offer. Private universities charge significantly higher tuition than in-state fees, although the margin of difference has narrowed. On the other hand, out-of-state tuition compares with local private universities such as Barry University in Miami Shores and the University of Miami...
...

The nursing program is a joke. (Pharmacy is a whole other story). Although the block program is very tempting and having more clinical hours is a huge advantage, it is not worth the headache nor the money to attend this school. I don't recommend it at all and there are many other students who agree. You have to pass with a 90% or above on absolutely every test, every assignment, every thing you do. Which is doable and great once you graduate it. However it's a big pain to do. Some teachers are really great (3 out of the 18 they have). The others are not, they do not have an education background which is seen in the manner that they teach. They don't follow their own regulations in their handbook. They come up with random "rules" in the middle of blocks. Test are poorly written. Teachers will tell you make sure you know this and that and on the exam that information that was "make sure you know" is not there. THey don't teach what they test. It's just a bad...
...

I have been going to the College of Southern Nevada since 2002. I first received a degree in Hotel Mgmt, and graduated in 2005. After that I decided to go back to school because I did not enjoy the hotel business. I have not regretted my decision. The staff are always willing to go the extra mile in order to nake sure you are comfortable with what you are learning. The curriculum is not to hard and not to easy but a practical middle between the two. In the first semester you have to have lecture, lab, and clinical hours every week. In the second semester, you have Med Surg 1, and mental health. You will learn a basic foundation that will help you master and build your nursing knowledge. Then in third semester you have Pediatrics and LAbor and Delivery. By far this was favorite semester. I am a mom and I felt like I had an advantage over other student that did not have children. Final semester is Medical Surgical 2 and this was the hardest semester. You only have 10 weeks to complete...
...

I attended the Ivy Tech Nursing Program in Richmond, IN, and graduated in 1994 as an LPN. That was the same year that Ivy Tech became a State College! I learn better by hands on learning and that is exactly what I was able to do at Ivy Tech. All of the instructors were very helpful, and really cared about you as a student. I was only 19 yrs. old, so they became like my serrogate mothers(lol). We did our clinicals at Reid Memorial Hospital which has recently been moved closer to Ivy Tech and rebuilt to a much larger hospital that can offer more services, such as cardiovascular care.
...

Future Nursing Students Beware - I stronglty advise you to seek admittance at another program. Moorpark's Nursing program strongly discriminates on the basis of color, creed, heavy accent, and age. If you're not young and white or very, very sub-servient, or if for whatever reason they just don't like your personality - they will find a way to eliminate you. Unfortunately, the longer the instructor has been on staff, the more prevalent this abuse of power. I saw nine people eliminated in my time there, they were bright, mostly all "A" students, well liked by patients, as well as by the staff at hospitals they trained in clinical rotation. They were also enthusiastic and grateful for this opportunity, and because of that they were well liked by their fellow students. However, for reasons mentioned above, they weren't "acceptable" to the faculty at Moorparks R.N. Program. All cratively dismissed, but for reasons none could see, especially those students themselves. Of course none......

As a graduating BSN student, I love this school. The staff really care about me, and I got an excellent education. They have a high pass rate, and they put lots of effort into preparing students for the NCLEX. I lived on campus for 2 years, and it is a great environment. However, there are plenty of cheap apartments close by for those who don't want to live on campus. Hospitals in the area love to hire Bethel graduates. Lots of times when I say I go to Bethel for nursing I hear, "That's a good school!" and "I heard that's a tough program." Both are true. One negative is that there are so many nursing schools in the area, sometimes the clinical times are hard to come by and less than convenient....

I'm in my second year of attending Piedmont on my way to a guaranteed transfer to UVa. I've found good things and bad things at Piedmont since I've been there, but overall, I've enjoyed my experience.

I've enjoyed the small class sizes and the helpfulness of the teachers. Because of the small class sizes, as I've gone through my semesters, I've always felt like my teachers were there, not only to teach me, but to help me understand the information that I've been presented. I've not taken a class there yet that my teachers were unwilling to work with me to make sure that I was succeeding.

Because Piedmont doesn't cost as much as UVa, I can spend two years a Piedmont for less than what it costs for one year at UVa. As a working student, I appreciate the opportunity to get my Associate's degree at a lower cost.

Piedmont only has two buildings (they are in the proccess of building a third). This makes it really easy to find your classes at the beginning of each semester. It also......

All FREE of charge. The school always has some sort of student activity going on. (DISCLAIMER; I go to school at night with a 40hr week day job.
I have gone to Palm Beach Community College for my entire college career so far and have found the classes to be small in size at convenient times to fit into any schedule. All of the professors I have had have been very knowledgable and helpful. The distance learning online classes have also given me the oppurtunity to keep taking classes during semesters where I couldn't fit traditional schooling into my schedule. The blackboard online classes are easy to navigate. PBCC has a great facility in Palm Beach Gardens where I have taken the majority of my classes towards my AA degree.

West Suburban College of Nursing is such a bad educational experience that you may begin to doubt your choice of nursing as a profession. The instructor turnover is unbelievably high. A small number of the core instructors are competent, but the rest seem determined to intimidate and confuse the students. The faculty may be health care professionals but most are terrible teachers. Disorganization, last minute changes to tests and curricula, lack of guidance, it's a nightmare on a regular basis. Clinicals are totally unsupervised and in some cases very dangerous (psych clinical for example). Maybe this is part of trying to get us ready for real world nursing?? This program is not nurturing in the least. There is absolutely no consideration for trying to support students as they make their way through a tough program...it's as if the staff needs to fail a set amount of students every semester. Lots of students fail out, there's a huge backlog for appeals. There are much better schools.......

Program can be very difficult to pass but also has a 99% pass rate for the NCLEX. Program is very competitive for entry. Classes are very structured, limited absences are allowed. Clinical experience is throughout community including local hospitals, home health agencies, local schools, Hospice, day cares. Instructors are required to continuing working in a clinical nursing environment while teaching and offer assistance throughout your time in the nursing program. The program is 4 semesters for full time with summers off. There is also a part time that continues throughout the summer so both classes finish at the same time....
