geraldif says "Learning and Fun at the Maize and Green" about University of Michigan

It is one of the premier research institutions in the US and Numero Uno in Michigan. The undergraduate and graduate classes really make the students think out of the box and encourage to achieve more than what the students imagined they were themselves capable of. The knowledge of the professors really amazed me.

When tired of studies, the vibrant downtown with students galore is a welcome sight for sore eyes. Just take a short 30 min walk across downtown and you will find a selection of reasonably priced food from various cuisines, as well as exotic places when you feel the need to splurge. You can always find a place to have cheap beer and food on the weekend, when you need it the most.

To get the whole experience, one must make a saturday visit to the football stadium during game days, especially with arch rivals Michigan State University and historic foes Ohio State University. The crowds are unbelievable, braving the cold and waiting patiently to get in and grab the best seats....
...

MightyMouse2 says "Can you match the culture, accept the challenge, and learn?" about Top Five Graduate Business Schools - Nationwide

If you were asked to name the top five graduate business schools nationwide, you might mention Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, Krannert, Stanford, but the fifth one would surely be the one in which you could fit into the culture, meet the challenge of the book work, and expand your own learning so that you could make wise, thoughful decisions. Every one does not fit the culture of the schools mentioned above and should explore local schools that are accessible and match the culture which you may be accustomed to working within. If there is a business school that will challenge you to become a better decision maker and hard worker, then that school will be in your top five graduate business schools nationwide. It may not have the prestige of some others, but it will accomplish the task of making you a better person and wise leader.

It was not the much money either. It was only less then four hundred dollars for the whole course. If you need help with any assignment The workers stay on call 24/7 to help you with your ever it is you need. It took only a short period of time to complete.

When I started attending college, I had not been in school for over a decade. The entrance exam was fairly easy, the loans and classes are reasonable, the professors, teachers, and administration are some of the very best. They helped me through rough times and applauded me through the best times. They help you with hands on training and help you with work study programs, job placement programs, tutoring, and a great internship for thier medical courses. You can schedule your classes for your flexibility, and the school itself is a great comfortable astmosphere to be in. On some cases, I have seen graduating students receive reimbursment for tuition after bing hired on straight out of school. You can go on line, to campus, they have have days, nights, and/ or weekends available for those busy parents. If you have not finished high school, and you want to attend college I would highly recommend you call Everset University today... they will help you every step of the way. ...
...

I went to Walden University for my Master's in Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get an online degree. I chose Walden for the reasonable price it offered and the time frame in which I could get my degree. The pace was fast, but not too fast. It was what I expected for my Master's program. All my teachers were very nice and seemed dedicated to teaching and getting back to any problems that arose as the semester progressed. I felt that the time it took me to complete the program at Walden was right on track for what I hoped it would be. The one downfall of the program was the out of date materials I saw in some of my classes. I think with education alwys changing it is hard to stay completely up-to-date so that is why I don't think it was too much o a con. In my opinion the pros far outweighed the cons. The final for my degree was so wondrful and simplified and made the program easy to accomplish while working! ...
...

For me there was no other option other than the University of Kansas Edwards Campus to further my education. Other schools in the area were not as well-known and did not seem to offer the exposure and networking opportunities KU did. Overall the teachers were solid, particularly those who had outside work experience, namely my accounting, finance, and marketing professors. Additionally, it helped that most of the students had a few years of working experience, so the questions asked were more relevant to the "real world" than those asked from students straight from undergraduate school.

Most of the professors were willing to help you outside of the normal class time. My Marketing professor encouraged you to reach out to him when writing our weekly papers, to which I did and found the discussion to be extremely helpful.

The hours are long (usually 6:30-10:10), however, the students and professors are nice and easy to get along with.

DORMS: I am a current ODU freshman this year and although I only live 20 minutes away i chose to stay on campus to get "the full experience", for me, this was a mistake. Housing put me in a dorm that i had not even applied to be in. Upon arrival all was good. Turns out I am in the loudest dorm on campus and roommate compatibility is not as high as hoped for. Tried for a room change but they "had nowhere else to put me". It is c to get any work done while living in the dorm. My solution is that I'm moving home where I can focus and although I won't be living on campus as I had wished i think it will make my situation more stable and me more successful as a student.

CLASSES AND CAMPUS: On the other hand, all my classes are great and most people who i meet are really nice.
...

lkadshf says "Misinformation at best." about Top Five Graduate Business Schools - Nationwide

This guy clearly doesn't have a clue as to what makes a great business school. The most important factors are the quality of students, the alumni, and the jobs available to each.

The students are tops at Stanford hands down. Dual admitted students tend to split evenly between the two schools, but because of the small class size these cream of the crop admits make up a much larger proportion of the Stanford class than the HBS class (~25% vs. 10%). Additionally, there is considerable self-selection in the Stanford applicant pool given the far heavier admissions standards.

The alumni quality needs to be split out into quantity, quality, and access. HBS wins on quantity, obviously. But Stanford wins on quality (function of students who go on to be professionals). And what I mean by that is that the average Stanford grad is more successful and influential in business. And I am not talking about outliers like Steve Balmer, Phil Knight, Charles Schwab, Mitt Romney, Michael Bloomberg,...
...

I earned my Masters in Counseling Services and enjoyed the time I spent at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. The academics were outstanding. I lived off campus and attended in the evening, so I can't comment on dorm life. It has approximately 6,000 students, and I got to be very friendly with the students in my program. It merged with nearby Westminster Choir College in Princeton in 1992 and it continues to maintain the two campuses. The campus is halfway between New York and Philadelphia, so both are accessible. It is not very expensive compared to others in the pricey north-east, but would probably be seen as expensive compared to others in the country. It has two main emphasizes: in business and in liberal arts (which includes education, the sciences, and - of course! - counseling. I would reccomend it to potential students.
...

Emmanuel School of Religion is a very good graduate level seminary for those wishing to continue their theological training. Though my knowledge of seminaries is limited to just three others I believe that I can speak intelligently on the benefits of Emmanuel. I was immediately attracted to the more intimate style of classes held at the seminary. Some classes may be as small as six people while others may be as large as 45. This was a very different expreience than my undergraduate training at Texas A&M University. As a result I was very surprised to find that the professors, who were well educated leaders and authors in their respective fields, actually had relationships with the students. My undergraduate experience got in the way of me being able to fully take part in this unique and special dynamic. I was more used to there being a level of remove between students and professors. But at ESR the professors are deliberate about breaking through such barriers.

University of Kansas Edwards campus bills itself as a school for working professionals. I am taking classes as part of the marketing communications program, but it offers many other programs, including MBA, education and more.

And when I didn't have enough time to get my application and testing together in time for the application deadline, she walked me through the process of enrolling as a non-degree seeking student. She also recommended classes that were outstanding.

It is not too hard to transfer in. Tuition is roughly $7,000 a year. There is a lot to do in Hampton Roads. There is Virgina Beach about 30 minutes away. Downtown Norfolk is about 15 minutes away. There are tons of cute little shops in an area called Ghent. It has a good social scene between local clubs, house parties and the greek life. You can live on or off campus. There are tons of apartments. Classes are small and they are actually taught by professor. Teaching assistants are only used for science lab courses. Teachers are friendly and you can always got to them for help if you need it. It's nice to be at a school where teachers actually know your name. There are a lot of majors to choose from.

I entered the two-year M.A. program at Adams State College in 2004. It was a grant-funded cohort group off campus for teachers working with students learning English as a second language. The instructors were very knowledgeable and dedicated, and they treated us like real professionals, with activities, discussions, and information pertinent to our classroom work. The practitioner research class was the highlight of the program; we were able to research a topic of interest in our own classrooms. Through the cohort concept, I also made friends for life.

I only visited the campus a few times, but it was very nice and pleasant, with park-like areas and nice buildings. All the people working there were nice and helpful, and the small town of Alamosa is very picturesque.

My experience with Adams State College was extremely positive, and I highly recommend the college. As an added bonus, its tuition rates are very low.
...

ODU was founded as a division of William & Mary in 1930. It is a good school that is getting even better. Their academic programs and reputation have improved significantly over the last decade or more. The campus is more urban and quite modern, so you don't have many cobblestone streets or old architecture etc. ODU has nationally respected programs in science, technology and medicine including partnerships with EVMS. It also has over 20,000 students and an ever-growing amount of housing options. You'll hear that this is mostly a commuter school, but thats not really the case any more. The vast majority of freshman now live on campus and lots of undergrads live in the surrounding neighborhoods. The additions of the "university village" with restaurants, shops & bars, the new basketball arena and the brand new football stadium are making for a pretty cool place to live and study. The proximity to the oceanfront at Virginia Beach, waterfront dorm options and being near downtown Norfolk and...
...

strayergrad04 says "A Great School for the Working Adult" about Strayer University - SC

I attended Strayer University from 2002 - 2004. All of the courses I attended were on campuses in the Washington, DC area and challenging. I found the professors and staff to be the ultimate professionals. The work was challenging and time consuming, but since Strayer is a school for the working adult it was a great fit for me. When my job required travel, I took my laptop with me to do homework, complete assignments. I also had field trip assignments to museums and places like the Library of Congress. When I was on travel for my job, my professor allowed me to visit a museum in the area I would be in, with a specific topic I was to research. Each assignment required the completion of a report of my finding, etc. This was in addition to other, regular work assignments for the course that included exams (closed book), papers, presentations, mid-term and final exams. The textbooks, although pricey, were very useful. In fact, I still refer to mine in the "real world." ...
...

Strayer advertises itself as accreditated...however this is just for regional accreditation, and not for program accreditation.

Regional accreditation simply means a college has systems in place to educate students, and is not simply letting people pay for degrees.

However "real colleges" also have program accreditation, which means the actual coursework has been reviewed and given a seal of approval, so to speak.

Fans of Strayer University love to say that Ivy League Colleges have the same accreditation as Strayer. This is true only for the regional accreditation. If your major does not have any program accreditation, it is VERY unlikely that your courses will transfer to a major university.

I personally took classes at Strayer, which was a serious mistake. The classes were of such substandard quality, it was horrifying that anyone would consider this as a real education. The textbooks were of a grade-school reading level, and there were never any tests or exams. These classes do...
...
