coangel57 says "Above and beyond all expectations" about Grand Canyon University

Grand Canyon's Education Graduate Program has succeed all of my expectations. I was very worried of being disappointed when I first started, but I picked this program for several reasons: 1. The program was ALL ONLINE! 2. Tuition was cheaper when compared to other graduate programs. 3. I could finish in 12-16 months. 4. The program was relative to my job. After starting off slow, one class at a time, I became very comfortable working with my professors and peers through our online community. The topics being studied were taught by experienced and very knowledgable professionals, who wanted nothing else but for us to be successful in our teaching jobs. The subjects studied are very relevant to my job, and I can take my newly learned material and immediately apply it to my job. Financial issues were a problem at first, but the college's business department will work with you and either assisst you with financial aid, or will set up a payment plan with you for a one time minimal fee. I...

NYU is a very good school. It is constantly improving. And it's located in a great city, with plenty of sources of entertainment and inspiration. Nevertheless, it costs way to much to attend. For most people, I believe that all of the benefits I mentioned above are not worth the high cost of tuition and housing. You can get a good liberal arts education at many other schools, including state schools. Aside from its prime location in Manhattan, NYU is not special. — I have benefited immensely from the school's career center, which is well connected with the business community in New York. In addition, NYU offers some great study abroad opportunities. — On the other hand, the community is very impersonal. The level of education and student involvement is depressingly low. It's easy to get lost in the crowd. —...

As a former Admission Counselor and Academic Advisor at a private Catholic University, and a parent with children in college and approaching college age, I am always interested in learning more about colleges and universities. I want to know what they have to offer, how well the students like it there, and how much it costs. Other important factors are student life and tuition costs. Whenever I get a chance I speak to many friends and colleagues about where they went to school, as well as visit schools on many of my vacations. After all, I don't want to lose my "touch." — The University of North Carolina-Greensboro is located in Greensboro, North Carolina. It awards Bachelor's of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Masters of Arts, Masters of Science, Masters of Fine Arts, Master's in Education, Master's in Public Administration, and PhD's degrees. It offers approximately 50 undergraduate programs from Anthropology to Women's Studies and many...

usnnc says "Notraditional, off-site classes - can be a lifesaver" about Old Dominion University

"Let's do it another way," seems to be a consistant trait of ODU. This university grew out of William and Mary to establish another way of learning. ODU is a leader in the non-traditional method of education. Even in the far-off reaches of Arizona, Georgia and ships-at-sea, ODU is there via direct link or videostreaming. Program coursework can be taken, or completed, off site simply by sitting at a computer or in front of a linked TV, and watching the class in "real time" or on tape as it happened on the ODU campus. Off-site students get the same tests as the students sitting in class. Everything is the same, except some students are elsewhere. — — Should you try this? A 3-year experience left me saying, YES! if you are mature, committed to finishing your degree and don't mind classes with few people to interact with (the class may be just you interacting with the professor via computer/microphone). If you are the type who still likes to have fun and expects...

Suggestions on where not to send your child to school. The Katherine Gibbs school is the place not to be. — This is an 18 month business school and for the price you pay for school you might as well send your child to high school again. — There is no care about the students graduating or getting the best education, only about the money that is bought into the school. These people are getting high school students to get loans in their names and all the child has to have is a parent with bad credit to get it, then the child attends the school and they take out for bus passes (inner city) and a trail pass monthly for the outer city. These bus passes per month run about $150.00. Horrible! I don't advise any parent or student thinking about going to this school to attend. About 8 years ago the Gibbs school enrolled students and received their tuitions and then never opened on the day that the students was...

Throwabug says "Good reputation, but missing some fundamentals." about New York University

NYU takes place in the center of it all - New York City. That gives you a lot of opportunities that you won't have at other schools, such as access to great speakers, conferences and events. In part because of this, NYU has a great reputation that has noticeably improved over the last several years. However, be prepared to pay for these opportunities as NYU certainly is not cheap. Moreover, student support services, particularly IT is notably lacking and you might be frustrated by how "un-automated" seemingly routine functions are. If you're planning on going into a specialized field that NYU has a strong reputation in, definitely put this school on your short list, but if you're not entirely sure what you want do yet, or if it's not a program in which NYU really excels, save your money and go to a public...

Bryan-Carey says "Graduate Business School: Not a Necessity, but Highly Desirable" about Top Five Graduate Business Schools - Nationwide

Attendance at graduate school is becoming more and more the norm. Bachelor's Degrees are still highly sought out and, depending on the field of study, they are sometimes all that is necessary to establish a fulfilling career. But for some, a Bachelor's Degree is only the beginning and admission to Graduate School is not only a lucrative investment, it is also essential for career and/or competitive reasons. — For those in the field of business, a Bachelor's Degree is often sufficient for career advancement. However, as competition for high- level employment becomes more and more fierce, the value of a Graduate Degree continues to grow and many undergraduates now consider Graduate School a necessary step in career fulfillment. — Once the student's mind is made up and Graduate School is a certainty, it is time to decide where to enroll. Thousands of options exist, and there is a program to satisfy most any student's needs. But for the academically advanced and highly...

Oh, and free beads during mardi gras in the student center.
Portland State University is a great small university spread out in the middle of downtown portland. That's it's biggest charm and biggest failing. Parking is such a nightmare that classes can be 1/2 hr late while you try to find a spot. Also the student staff in Neuberger hall is not at all friendly. Apparently english is the third language for most of these folks and they looks at you like you're from another planet everytime you try to register or submit any sort of official paperwork.
New York University is a very expensive school. I really don't think there is any reason to pay the money for it unless you come for a degree from Tisch or are in the law school. NYU's academic programs are okay, but not worth the price tag.
