If you have a PC with LightScribe capabilities, these make for a great looking & sounding CD. You can choose from many of the layouts preprogrammed in your PC. Or, you can browse for an image to write on the face of the CD. — Many times I write the actual CD cover on the disc. Other times I find a picture of the artist(s) and write that on the face of the CD. Either way, it makes a great looking CD. And it makes for great personal gifts to give your friends. — The only drawback, writing a complex picture to the CD can take a long time...up to 20 minutes. Much less for a preprogrammed Title and Artist(s) only. — Impress your friends with a home made LightScribe CD....

No need to search the local ads and run from store to store looking for a bargain. I find these HP CD-Rs all the time at Big Lots for $9.99 plus tax. That comes out to about 21 cents per CD. CHEAP! I use these CDs to make music CDs, and copy files & pictures to CD. In other words...back up everything to CD in case of a catastrophic failure. Some people know this...some don't; just about any file on your PC can be backed up on CD. I highly recommend doing this. —...

joyjoy says "I burned a CD!" about Verbatim CD-RW 2x-4x

When I wanted to make a copy of my Disk Warrior CD I began doing research on what to use. I finally decided on the Verbatim CD-Rw 2x-4x and I believe I made the right decision. Each disc will hold 80 minutes or 700 mb of data. They come in slim jewel cases and the inserts are lined on the back to allow listing of the contents. This means no more need for labels or markers! While the burn speed is slow you should remember that slower speeds mean less likelihood of burning a drink coaster and more likelihood of having a useable CD. Or DVD. :) —...

I submit my art to local galleries when they have open calls. Most galleries ask that the art be submitted on CD. Quality CDs are important for this purpose. While browsing Office Depot with the intentions of purchasing my usual brand of CD-Rs, I came across a sale on Office Depot brand CD-Rs. I usually buy name brands when purchasing CDs because I need good quality to submit to art galleries. — At just under $10 for a 100 pack, it seemed inexpensive enough to try them so I purchased it. Thinking if I couldn't use them for my submissions to the galleries I would be able to use them to back up my written documents. No huge money loss.
Taiyo Yuden's thee numero uno! Virtually no coasters, smooth burn, excellent playback! But be sure to get real/authentic Taiyo, there are fakes out there. Download the free DVD Identifier and/or VSO Inspector. Disc Media ID should be TYG02 or the like. And if you don't have a hi-tech writer, I recommend 8x discs which will burn a little slower, but much smoother. I buy the 100 pack silver thermal since I don't have a disc printer. I use full-faced labels which work great for me....

I think I hit the jackpot today while doing a few shopping duties as I came across a homerun at Sam's Club today. With my picture and review files growing bigger I decided to get a USB Drive to hold them all instead of using up my hard drive space on my laptop. Sitting before me was this bright red USB Drive with a 4 gig capacity for the low price of $33 so I grabbed it. — — Verbatim USB 2.0 4 gig Drive — — Usually I get good deals at Sam's but this time I bought before I researched, yeah I know bad idea. This time however I made out good so I will save anybody from smacking me for doing it backwards. I looked online and found prices anywhere from $55 to $76 for this bright red storage drive so I am smiling now. Office supply was one of the higher priced places I found — — This comes with a very nice feature that I have not seen on any other removable memory sticks. It has a Password Protection program built right into it. I...

kid-kansas says "My choice when I need to store files on DVD" about Imation DVD +R -100 Pack

There are two types of blank DVD's you can use one being +R and the other -R. Don't ask me the difference but I know there is one as my DVD player doesn't like -R discs. I buy them by the pack and the best buy is the 100 pack of Imation DVD's. — — Imation DVD +R Discs — — I make my own home movies from my video camera and then transfer them to DVD. I also back up my computer files such as music, video and programs as well. My choice of DVD's is Imation as I can get a 100 pack for less than $30, thats 30 cents a disc and I like that price a lot. In 2 years I have had very few bad discs and would say on average I get 2 or 3 per 100 and those are good odds. — — Each disc will hold 4.78 Gigs of information, translated to video thats right at 2 hours. These are one time use discs which means once you burn it you cannot add or edit what you put on them. Which is fine by me as I always double and triple check before I burn. For DVD's I...

I burn a lot of CD on my PC. mostly, I make play-along CDs for my students to play with or I make demo CDs for prospective clients. — — Obviously, I am looking for good yield (in other words, little or no failed CDs) for recording at fairly fast speeds (generally I use 48x) at a reasonable price. I've found that most branded CD media that I have used sounds OK. Because of the nature of what I am using these for, durability is not an issue. — — Usually, I'll mail order in groups of 100. That's a little less expensive. However, this brand, Dynex, is stocked at my local Best Buy. Recently, I started running short on CD media and so bought these in a 50 pack for $15.99. — — They are billed as being recordable up to 52x speed of the music itself and will hold up to 80 minutes of CD music or 700mg of data. As CDRs, they can only be recorded once. — — I've found that these record well on my CD burner. I've done a couple dozen since I got...

I always had problems with their blank VHS videocassettes back in the 80s and 90s, so I wasn't expecting much when I bought Sony's brand of blank DVD-Rs. To my surprise they turned out to be a very good brand, and I have bought several hundred over the last couple of years that I've owned a home DVD recorder. — I like the fact that Sony makes their discs available in speeds 1x thru 16x because I still have a Panasonic DVD recorder that won't accept anything higher than 4x speed. So Sony's come in real handy for this reason. — I definitely recommend this brand to anyone who's shopping around for blank DVD-Rs. —...

I had been wanting to try this brand of blank DVD-R for the last year or two, being someone who has owned home DVD recorders since 2002 and someone who does an enormous amount of recording. When I bought and began using them I was truly surprised that this is a high quality and reliable brand. I say reliable because the last thing you want to buy is a brand of DVD-Rs that ends up giving you defective discs too often, which is the Memorex brand. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who uses blank DVD-Rs. — I also like the designs on the discs, one of the best, but I'm afraid the design takes up half of the writing space. Philips needs to change this. Otherwise this is an excellent brand. —...

kid-kansas says "I can store over 2000 pictures in my Camera with this!!!" about Lexar SD Card - 1 gig

My introduction to the SD Card came when I bought my last computer about 3 years ago as it can read them from a panel on the front of it. I liked the fact that I could also use it in the printer I bought at the same time and then later my digital camera. Yep all 3 devices will use the same little card. — — Many Uses — — I can take pictures on my digital camera and go directly to my printer if I so choose or I can slide the card into my computer and download the pictures to my harddrive. This 1 gig SD Card from Lexar will hold roughly 2300 pictures while in my camera in .jpg format. The very same card will also fit into my Nintendo Wii for saving game data. The one in my Wii is only a 512mb card but it is nice to know I can put the 1 gig card in there if I need too. — — SD Cards hold the memory even when they are turned off so that is good. They can also damage easy if your not careful with them. My Lexar came with a little carry...

I went bargain hunting on the Internet and found myself a little gem of a 50 pack spindle of Philips DVD-R's on sale. I don't remember the store I found them in, and the sale is long over at any rate. There are however, other sales and other stores. — — The Deal — They can be found today by going to www.shopping.com and doing a search for Philips DVD-R and they will do a comparison shop for you for the best bargain. That is where I found my little burnable jewels. — — The speed — At a maximum speed of 16x, the DVD-R's are blazingly fast. A DVD movie can be burnt to disk in five minutes. Ten minutes if you are fussy and want to burn your disk plus do a disk check afterwards to make sure your movie burned with out errors. — — The space — These DVD's are 4.7 gigs.
