The My Book Essential Edition external hard drive form Wester Digital(WD), is easy to use and install. However, It was very slow to back up my laptop computer, Taking around 4 to 5 hours to do so. Using any other programs wile the back up is happening was another issue since it slowed down the programs so much I decided to stop using them. It's fair to say I was mostly using the internet when this was going on.The other problem I saw was that, for some reason my lap top kept shutting down wile the backing up was being performed. Even after all of this the file were backed up successfully. Over all it's a god product if you don't mind waiting and not using your PC or laptop while backing them up, otherwise you are not going to be pleased. The looks for this driver is a pleasing one. Being compare to that of a book, it finds many who will like it. Its small and non intrusive if you are the typical person who has a clutter in the desk, making it easy to store any were in or on the desk....

I purchased this spindle of 100 CD's at my local WalMart store for a very reasonable price. I was a bit skeptical at first thinking that, because I paid so little for these, they would be of very low quality when I transferred data to them. I actually used several of them to put my family photos on and get them off of my computer because they were taking up so much space. The quality of the discs was great when I looked at the pictures I had transferred. I am a regular WalMart shopper and noticed that the Verbatim brand is often on sale at WalMart for an even more discounted price than I paid for this spindle of 100. I think these CD's are a great value. They are also sold in a smaller quantity if you don't need a whole bunch of CD's and even at the lesser quantities they are still very reasonably priced. I am a believer in this brand now that I have tried it and everything I have used these discs for has turned out just great.

Next to TDK and Maxell DVD-R blank media discs, Verbatim is one of my favorites. The discs are of high quality which always gives me a great recorded picture on my home DVD recorder. They are reliable discs and they also seem to burn faster than any other when used in my computer. Why that is I don't know.

My only complaint is that they need to change their appearance. For as long as I can remember now their blank DVD-R discs have always been just plain silver with their logo. I'd like to see Verbatim come up with a new design and maybe some colored discs.

Backing up computer files is a smart thing to do for personal use or business use. We deal with several large data bases in my department at work and I would be very upset if a database was lost due to a virus or computer malfunction, knowing I had to reload the database by hand. When I started searching for a backup system, I looked at several external drives. I mentioned my quest to my husband, who told me they just bought external drives at his work that held 1 TB of information. I said Whoa! And then I asked how much did the gadgets cost? I was very surprised to find that they were priced around $125.00, which was cheaper than some drives I had priced that only held 250-500 GB. I asked for the brand and model number, which turned out to be Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 1 TB, Model No. WDH1U10000H1U-00.

I was only recently introduced to the concept of using a flash drive for data storage within the past year. Where I work we introduced a new reporting software program for teachers to complete their paperwork on. This system was made to utilize a USB flash drive to store the program and the data to allow the staff portability of their work. After getting my hands on them and seeing how easy they were to use, I also began using a flash drive for various files.

So as the time came for the teachers to receive their anticipated program, our IT guy ordered a huge load of the Pleomax 2GB USB Drive for their use. I recall he bought a bundle for around $15-$20 each through tigerdirect which seemed pretty reasonable to me considering the capacity.

You have how many kids n there?

With a 2GB capacity, this Pleomax Flash drive has enough room to fit a ton of files. Each of my classroom teachers could hold not only their reporting program, but a variety of back up files and reports...

This is a very nice unit. It reads and write quickly. Extremely easy to use. I really liked my unit until it went defective. Thats where the real fun began.

Since the supplier I bought it from only has a 14 day return on items like this, but oh well that's the price you pay for online shipping. I contacted Dane-Elec and they failed to return e-mail after e-mail. I tried their toll free number and would get nothing but voice mail. The voice mail did not even identify the name of the company.

3 weeks went by and I convinced buy.com whom I bought the flash drive from to replace the drive. One week after I had e-mailed every location I finally got an e-mail to send the unit back at my cost. Buy.com at least paid to have the item shipped with tracking.

While I feel this is a good unit I feel the customer service of this company is TERRIBLE. I want a company that does not ignore my e-mails, has a working telephone number. I would not suggest buying Dane-Elec until they rapidly improve...

After loving my Vaultz CD Case, I asked my husband to buy me a bigger Vaultz for my music collection. I have over 80 CDs right now, and the Vaultz CD Case only goes up to 64 CDs in size. He came home with the Vaultz Media Binder with Combination Lock that holds 200 CDs (or more if you can squeeze them in).

When I came home, he already had the product open and said he couldn't seem to set the combo lock. I didn't need it to have a combination lock, so I was going to just leave it.... but I had to figure it out. The product has 2 combination locks, one on each side, so you could essentially have 2 secure combinations in order to open it. I managed to set the first lock just fine, tested it, everything was working. Then the second lock came. I felt like I followed the instructions to set it correctly. I closed it and immediately tried to open it (without turning the combo at all) and it wouldn't open. It was as if I set the combo to nothing and nothing would open it. I...

For a few years, I've been storing all my photo CDs in a regular style CD Case. I was very frustrated with this case for a long time. First of all, the sleeves were detachable which basically means they fell out all the time. Second, the case itself would not stay open no matter how hard I tried. So finally we went out shopping for something better. When I saw the Vaultz CD Case at Best Buy, I knew it was the one for me.

The Vaultz CD Case is made of a super strong material. If someone steps on it by accident, your CDs are still safe because it can support over 300 pounds of pressure! That's a lot of pounds, and I don't know anyone who weighs that much so I think I'm safe. This can be great if you are worried about kids always running around your things.

The Vaultz has the added security of a lock and key. I personally have no reason to hide my photo CDs from anyone, but I do appreciate the lock and key for once I have kids. Kids get into things and it would be awful if...

My review on Windata windata DVD+R rw .
Well, it look good at the time of purchase, great deal, this media brand was sold by Microcenter, a dedicated computer store chain, so I expected decent quality.
The discs were sold as a house brand, and are made in Taiwan

At the time of purchase (AUGUST 2005), I have no problems, or errors burning data on the DVD discs...100% succes ratio, I have used Nero and Roxio on 2 PCs, and the default burner for Mac.
After wrighting the data I have ALL discs checked for errors, and... No problems by far.
Due the fact I burned this discs for archival purpose, I really payed attention to storage, the The discs were stored inside the plastic jewel cases , vertical position, some at home, and some at my working place.
So no wrong doing at my end....I have read data from some discs after a year, everything normal.
Total, I have burned 22 Windata discs, and 9 Sony discs with uncompressed personal video files, and photos. All stored in the same conditions.......

If you have a PC with LightScribe capabilities, these make for a great looking & sounding CD. You can choose from many of the layouts preprogrammed in your PC. Or, you can browse for an image to write on the face of the CD.

Many times I write the actual CD cover on the disc. Other times I find a picture of the artist(s) and write that on the face of the CD. Either way, it makes a great looking CD. And it makes for great personal gifts to give your friends.

The only drawback, writing a complex picture to the CD can take a long time...up to 20 minutes. Much less for a preprogrammed Title and Artist(s) only.

Impress your friends with a home made LightScribe CD.

No need to search the local ads and run from store to store looking for a bargain. I find these HP CD-Rs all the time at Big Lots for $9.99 plus tax. That comes out to about 21 cents per CD. CHEAP!

I use these CDs to make music CDs, and copy files & pictures to CD. In other words...back up everything to CD in case of a catastrophic failure.

Some people know this...some don't; just about any file on your PC can be backed up on CD. I highly recommend doing this.

When I wanted to make a copy of my Disk Warrior CD I began doing research on what to use. I finally decided on the Verbatim CD-Rw 2x-4x and I believe I made the right decision. Each disc will hold 80 minutes or 700 mb of data. They come in slim jewel cases and the inserts are lined on the back to allow listing of the contents. This means no more need for labels or markers! While the burn speed is slow you should remember that slower speeds mean less likelihood of burning a drink coaster and more likelihood of having a useable CD. Or DVD. :)

I submit my art to local galleries when they have open calls. Most galleries ask that the art be submitted on CD. Quality CDs are important for this purpose.

While browsing Office Depot with the intentions of purchasing my usual brand of CD-Rs, I came across a sale on Office Depot brand CD-Rs. I usually buy name brands when purchasing CDs because I need good quality to submit to art galleries.

At just under $10 for a 100 pack, it seemed inexpensive enough to try them so I purchased it. Thinking if I couldn't use them for my submissions to the galleries I would be able to use them to back up my written documents. No huge money loss.

I was a bit sketical about the quality of Office Depot's brand CDs at the time I purchased them. I put some of my art on the Office Depot CD and found the quality was very good. I can use them to submit my art to galleries and I am very pleased to find a way to save money.

I will purchase the Office Depot brand CDs again.

Taiyo Yuden's thee numero uno! Virtually no coasters, smooth burn, excellent playback! But be sure to get real/authentic Taiyo, there are fakes out there. Download the free DVD Identifier and/or VSO Inspector. Disc Media ID should be TYG02 or the like. And if you don't have a hi-tech writer, I recommend 8x discs which will burn a little slower, but much smoother. I buy the 100 pack silver thermal since I don't have a disc printer. I use full-faced labels which work great for me....

I've tried lots of blank media & learned the hard way. Now I only use 2 brands. Verbatim, esp.Verbatim DataLifePlus is the 2nd best on the market. But be sure to buy authentics--manufactured by Mitibishi Chemical Corp. Media ID:MCC...., number may vary. Download the free DVD Identifier which will confirm this & find a store/online store which sells only authentics. With good software, a good dvd writer, & authentic Verbatim DVD-R's all your home movies will play, sound, & look great....

I think I hit the jackpot today while doing a few shopping duties as I came across a homerun at Sam's Club today. With my picture and review files growing bigger I decided to get a USB Drive to hold them all instead of using up my hard drive space on my laptop. This comes with a very nice feature that I have not seen on any other removable memory sticks. It has a Password Protection program built right into it. I think that is a great idea as if I leave it laying by my computer nobody......
