It has been about 3 years since this purchase so of course there are faster writers on the market today. However, I have had nothing but the best service from this writer. — It is dual layer compatable which is a huge plus. The blank, dual sided, discs are rather pricey still but it's worth it as you can burn twice the amount of data on one disc. — Recently I had a small problem with a disc I was using. It was sent to me in the mail with a product I purchased over eBay. It came damaged, with a small crack at the outer edge of the disc. I was very cautious about trying to use it at all but the disc contained the drivers for the hardware that I purchase. I gave it a shot and to my surprise the Lite On Dvd Writer was actually able to read the disc. — However, I soon had a larger problem. I had plugged it up and placed a regular dvd in it to watch on my pc when it becomes unresponsive as in the dvd tray would not open and had to stick a paperclip in the emergency eject method to get my dvd outta there. I went back to staples and gotten another one, I tried it again and same thing...after talking to a sony technician I was told that both items they had on the shelf at staples was bad so I wen back wanting to exchange yet again but there was a newer upgraded and more expensive model in the same location so I opted for a money back refund.
