frankob23 says "The longest lasting burner I have ever used in my PC." about Lite On DVD/RW Dual Layer Burner with Light Scribe

I purchased my Lite On Dvd Writer at Walmart for a fairly reasonable price. It has been about 3 years since this purchase so of course there are faster writers on the market today. However, I have had nothing but the best service from this writer. — It is dual layer compatable which is a huge plus. The blank, dual sided, discs are rather pricey still but it's worth it as you can burn twice the amount of data on one disc. — Recently I had a small problem with a disc I was using. It was sent to me in the mail with a product I purchased over eBay. It came damaged, with a small crack at the outer edge of the disc. I was very cautious about trying to use it at all but the disc contained the drivers for the hardware that I purchase. I gave it a shot and to my surprise the Lite On Dvd Writer was actually able to read the disc. — However, I soon had a larger problem. While playing back the disc I hear a loud bang inside my tower and I thought for sure I had blown a...

I submit my art to local galleries when they have open calls. Most galleries ask that the art be submitted on CD. Quality CDs are important for this purpose. While browsing Office Depot with the intentions of purchasing my usual brand of CD-Rs, I came across a sale on Office Depot brand CD-Rs. I usually buy name brands when purchasing CDs because I need good quality to submit to art galleries. — At just under $10 for a 100 pack, it seemed inexpensive enough to try them so I purchased it. Thinking if I couldn't use them for my submissions to the galleries I would be able to use them to back up my written documents. No huge money loss. I was a bit sketical about the quality of Office Depot's brand CDs at the time I purchased them. I put some of my art on the Office Depot CD and found the quality was very good. I can use them to submit my art to galleries and I am...

I Traditionally, desktop drives (3.5-inch) have always been the ones to have larger capacities over notebook drives (2.5-inch) due to the physical size. That changed just a few months ago with the introduction of the Western Digital WD2500BEVS 250GB SATA Laptop drive . — Running at 5400RPM, it isn't the fastest (compared to a 7200RPM), but certainly the largest we've seen to date. The 250GB Scorpio is a SATA 1.5Gbps interface drive and has an 8MB cache. Western Digital offers a 3-year warranty on this drive (and on all Scorpio drives). —...

Taiyo Yuden's thee numero uno! Virtually no coasters, smooth burn, excellent playback! But be sure to get real/authentic Taiyo, there are fakes out there. Download the free DVD Identifier and/or VSO Inspector. Disc Media ID should be TYG02 or the like. And if you don't have a hi-tech writer, I recommend 8x discs which will burn a little slower, but much smoother. I buy the 100 pack silver thermal since I don't have a disc printer. I use full-faced labels which work great for me....

Well, since I bought this external drive back during the summer of 2007, I have had no problems whatsoever and have also found that the quality of the drive is nothing to be looked down on. I have my computer and external drive running about 18-24 hours a day 7 days a week and have not noticed any problems or changes in the external drives run time, transfer speeds, or failure. The unit remains completely cool even after running for these long periods of time. This is a definite must have for backing up data and...

Hard drive wasfairly easy to install. I had to make one change in BIOS to get it to detect. Overall I'd say I am pleased with the performance. It is rather quiet, though speeds for seek time could be a little faster. I had trouble getting in to boot in RAID 0. This was a problem with every hard drive I tried it with. My guess is it only will work in a RAID configuration with 2 of the exact same drives. ...

For years I stored all my scrapbooking materials in 4 big bulky storage boxes. This was mostly so I could shove them under my bed since I still lived with my parents and didn't have a spare room to leave it in. Ever since I got married I've been thinking of buying something new to organize my craft supplies, and it was just last weekend that I happened across the Sterilite 7-Drawer Craft Cart at Target. I've bought other Sterilite organizers before and knew they were good quality, so I was excited to buy this one even with the $30 price tag. It Rolls — It's called a cart because it rolls! That means once you fill it up with all your crafts, you can easily roll it around to the room you feel like working in. It is difficult to roll on thick carpet, but on flat carpet or hardwood floors it is a breeze. — It has 7-Drawers — The 7 drawers are all 12" x 12" which any scrapbooker knows is great because most scrapbooks are...

I think I hit the jackpot today while doing a few shopping duties as I came across a homerun at Sam's Club today. With my picture and review files growing bigger I decided to get a USB Drive to hold them all instead of using up my hard drive space on my laptop. Sitting before me was this bright red USB Drive with a 4 gig capacity for the low price of $33 so I grabbed it. — — Verbatim USB 2.0 4 gig Drive — — Usually I get good deals at Sam's but this time I bought before I researched, yeah I know bad idea. This time however I made out good so I will save anybody from smacking me for doing it backwards. I looked online and found prices anywhere from $55 to $76 for this bright red storage drive so I am smiling now. Office supply was one of the higher priced places I found — — This comes with a very nice feature that I have not seen on any other removable memory sticks. It has a Password Protection program built right into it. I...

kid-kansas says "My choice when I need to store files on DVD" about Imation DVD +R -100 Pack

There are two types of blank DVD's you can use one being +R and the other -R. Don't ask me the difference but I know there is one as my DVD player doesn't like -R discs. I buy them by the pack and the best buy is the 100 pack of Imation DVD's. — — Imation DVD +R Discs — — I make my own home movies from my video camera and then transfer them to DVD. I also back up my computer files such as music, video and programs as well. My choice of DVD's is Imation as I can get a 100 pack for less than $30, thats 30 cents a disc and I like that price a lot. In 2 years I have had very few bad discs and would say on average I get 2 or 3 per 100 and those are good odds. — — Each disc will hold 4.78 Gigs of information, translated to video thats right at 2 hours. These are one time use discs which means once you burn it you cannot add or edit what you put on them. Which is fine by me as I always double and triple check before I burn. For DVD's I...
