Window's 7 and I have gotten off to a rocky start. At first it was suspected that our wireless internet connection was not compatiable with Windows 7. Now I am learning that our previous printer is not compatiable either. That makes me sad! However, it is pretty cool that you can put your mouse over the internet explorer button and see all the web pages. I like the organization of it as well. However, I would rather have the stabilty of knowing that my other products associated with my computer would work too.
...

I miss Microsoft Word. it was the best program ever. what i really miss is wordart. i like to do a lot of fun projects (art major in college) and I do use wordart alot. it really upsets me that it's not on there. i've tried running my old disc on it and nothing. I just microsoft would realize that they have inferior products. my dad has a mac but at least he has word art and i'll use his, but of course he doesn't have paint, so i feel like i'm in a lose/lose situation. And my next complaint, honestly, i'm not sure if it's the program or the ocmputer itself (had for about 6 months), I feel like it's has a mind of it's own. i'll be doing stuff and the mouse wants to shoot all the way across the page or my cursor is far away from where i'm working. after this i will probably never by a pc again. i'm definately going to start saving so that i can get a mac. i'd say hopefully they can come up with a better product, but they just seem to keep getting worse and worse.
...

starbrt47 says "Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8.0 Is The Best Graphic Editing Software!!" about JASC Paint Shop Pro 8.0

When I first purchased Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8.0 for the first time, I knew nothing about graphics or editing. I was actually computer illiterate. But I found that there are tons of free online tutorials for the beginner, all the way to the more advanced user. So it didn't take long to become a pro. I love this program. There is nothing that you can't do with this software program. Start from scratch and make your own graphics, to editing existing images. The possibilities are unlimited! I've been using Paint Shop Pro 8.0 now for the past 4 years, since then I've purchased versions 9 &10 and Love all 3 of them! Now I've began a tutorial website of my own for the begginner.

I have used Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8.0 to build websites, edit photos, it's fantastic for scrapbooking, and now there are sites for scrap-booking on-line! This program is perfect for that. It offers the options of working with layers, so that you can add images to existing images, then move them around to where you want...
...

tohano1 says "Adobe CS4 is amazing." about Adobe Photoshop CS4

As a casual user of Adobe products over the years I did not appreciate what Adobe could do until I purchased the CS4 collection. Every time I learn another function of this software I am able to create so much more I can't believe it. So many new things are available to me that I have to constantly reconsider my whole creative process.

I like what the software can do. What I don't like is that the programs are not user freindly. You have to know codes and keyboard short cuts to get yourself up to speed. I am a videographer from a Pinnacle back ground so using this software is a very high learning curve. Granted this software is professional grade and gives professional grade results. Frankly I would like them to put a bit more effort towards making future versions more user freindly.

That being said the entire collection of CS4 gives the user the ability to share your work live online with another person from a different location. Just use the plug in and you can both talk in live time...
...

With all the other products out there this one is a workable version of "something" until something better comes along. All software is going to become obsolete however this software will last a long time for a person. I am not one to jump at the first signs of something new from microsoft.

This software will have support for at least five more years before a new generation. It as a program covers a wide variety of functions needed for basic publishing and internet.

I like it because I am familiar with other Windows programs so stepping into this software as a new user was no problem. I also like the extras you can activate from online downloads. Making flyers from Publisher is nice because the templates offered are different for my various needs and there are more than a few of them to choose from. I even make business cards from publisher.

The price is a bit much but you do get alot for the money. It works well for me and my small business.
...

It's been my experience that Visual Site Designer is defective in that it looses links to files after having shut down your computer, seemingly if you have a design that has a larger than normal size, for instance if you use music files, and also if you have different designs of a website on your computer that you've designed using VSD. It seems to have been less a problem - not as many missing links using XP as it is now with Vista - now it seems to loose most if not all of the music files along with some images. As such over the years I've had to continually go back and re-assign missing links. Does that mean it's an "unstable" program? Don't know if that's the correct term computer jargon wise or not. I've called Coffee Cups "help" over the past three years and never had a satisfactory solution to the problem and just put up with VSD's malfunction -just ended up going back and reassigning the files that it couldn't find - files that it had re-created in it's own folder. But when it was...
...

friedfishy says "great price on subscription, reliable service and good quality" about Skype

I have an international yearly subscription via skype, the price is very reasonable compared to most other VOIP offers (less than $15 per month with unlimited international call) I can use my ipod touch as a phone to make the phone calls, the call quality is great. For over 6 months I mostly don't have any problem. However, it's very hard to get support if there's a problem, as there's no customer service by phone call. That can be frustrating.

For an additional fee (somewhere between $5 to $10 per month), you can have a phone number, I skip it because I have a cell phone so mostly I just use the subscription for outgoing call only, sometimes it can be blocked because this shows up as an anonymous call, which can be inconvenient for someone.

Another inconvenience is that you'd need internet access (all the time) when you need to make a phone call, this is not a problem when you are at home but might or might not be a problem when you are on the road.

In summary, the price is good, call...
...

It would have been enough if Spare Backup just did what it claims to do-- namely back up ALL of your cmputer's files in a safe, easy-to-retrieve online storage facility. That alone was great when I accidently deleted files or when Vista arbitrarily deleted folders from my email and ESPECIALLY when my desktop crashed permanently and I had to get a new pc and was on deadline and neeeeeeeded some of my files to get up and running in minutes instead of having to re-create pages and pages pf lost graphics, etc. If they just had done THAT, it would have been enough for me to be a happy customer-- and impressed!

But, no! Spare Backup goes one step more to make me an estatic customer by offering all this for $19 a year!! Yeah, I said it! It's true and I've been a customer for 2 years and the price didn't jump or anything.

That would have been enough to keep me happy. Cheap and reliable, who could ask for more?

At first I was disappointed when I realized I couldn't afford a new computer with Vista like I had used for the last couple of years. Even though it was prone to frequent crashes and was not compatible with many applications, I still clung to the idea that Vista was better because it was newer and because it had been so long since I had ussed XP I had forgotten how functional it really is. Seriously, ask most techies, and after they stop laughing at you for using a PC instead of a MAC, they will tell you XP is a far superior operating system as compared to Vista and the jury is still out on the new 7... Anyway, some of the features I noticed right away that I had missed without realizing how much I had missed it was the Outlook Express which has a much cleaner and easier to use filing system for your e-mail and contacts. It also doesn't crash daily, so far not at all... It was also compatible with Office and Student Works 2007 so I didn't lose anything in terms of practical applications....
...

Kurzweil is an absolutely, posatively awesome computer program.

It is a computer program tha works with your computer, your scanner, and with many other computer software programs.

This program is great for many people. It's initial purpose is for people who are blind and not able to visually read things like their mail, books, and much more.

Personally, I feel that this is a great program for people who have difaculties reading for many other reasons,

But it is a great and easy program to use.

How this program works in a nutshell, I am going to be using reading your mail as an example, but works for so much more.

You take your mail, put it on top of your computer scanner and have it scan your document. It takes the document that you are scanning and no matter how it is put on the scanner, as long as it is the side down as the text.

It scans it, than it analyzes it. It than will read to you what you have just scanned to be read.

There are too few computer programs that are adaptive for people like me who are blind.

Jaws is one of the most popular and adversive programs.

When it comes to computer software programs that makes the computer talk with when you are typing, reading, searching the internet, etc.

Jaws is a program that I have owned for a couple years now. It is true that Jaws is a great program, but the major downside to it is that it is an extremely expensive program like all adaptive computers that I have purchased

it updates to newer versions about one time a year. The upgrades are extremely expensive. I just paid for an upgrade package that will give me two upgrades and cost me $200.00 - If I were to wait till the next upgrade in one year it would cost me more than this.

If you were going to compare this program with lets say dragon naturally speaking from what I have heard in costs for Dragon, this program is at least six times the cost, probably more like ten times.

TheBard says "Most Costly Than Others, But It Brings The Goods" about Kaspersky Kaspersky Internet Security 2010

Bottom-Line: Overall, Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is more than adequate for both power users and those users who take a more set-it-and-forget it approach to their computer’s security.

Even if the antivirus program cannot clean the infected file, most can at least isolate it and keep from doing harm the rest of the computer system. One of the antivirus programs I trust is Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 a program I recently downloaded and installed on a laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise Edition.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 supports Windows 7 (32/64-Bit), Windows Vista (32/64-bit), and Windows XP Home Edition (SP2).

I purchased a Dell laptop with Windows Vista about two years ago. At the time, I had heard some negative things about Vista, but the sales person talked me into getting Vista rather than XP. He claimed that the bugs had been fixed and that Vista was very user friendly. He was wrong.

My laptop was ok for about six months, until one of the automatic updates caused it to go into an endless restart loop. It took me days to get it fixed, but I finally managed to do so and turned off the updates. However, my computer has never really worked properly since this happened. At this point, I cannot download updates at all. My computer does not let me download most forms of software, such as Quicktime or Adobe PDF viewer. Any time I attempt to make system changes, such as uninstalling programs, I get the "green ribbon of death" and the entire system crashes. The system frequently lags and crashes, even when I am using only one or two programs. It causes me problems nearly every day.

Works is great when you don't have Word, I actually think that Works is moreuser friendly than Word. The one thing that makes Word so good is that if you are going to email an resume to a business then you would have to use Word because not everyone, especially companies, uses Works. I did not know that until recently so that is an FYI for others that are not as computer savy. Although I have both Works and Word on my PC I use Works daily and usually just print out what I need to offer to someone else. If there is something that I need to email to someone else then I usually use Word. But as I stated earlier I feel that Works is user friendlier. I like that way that Woks offers everything that you can do with it on one page in a graph type outline and you just click on what you want to use and follow the template. It can also save you the money of buying Word if you only want to type a few lines and then print it out.
...

Speech Analysis: Practice speaking, and the gauge will rise and fall depending on how well you pronounce the words. I'm always excited when I manage to talk like a "native speaker."

Beginner to Advanced: Instead of paying for different levels, Learn to Speak Spanish Deluxe is designed so users can begin instruction at the level they feel most comfortable.

Simulated Conversations: Each lesson takes you through a simulation of real world experiences, like meeting new people at a party or speaking to a clerk at a currency exchange.

Incredibly Affordable: I paid $14.99 when I bought Learn to Speak Spanish Deluxe; a mere fraction of the $200+ cost of Rosetta Stone Level 1. If you're curious about learning Spanish,...
...

tohano1 says "Pinnacle works .... kind of." about Pinnacle Software Studio 12 Ultimate

I have been a Pinnacle user since before version 9. Version 12.1 is the best by far. I think it is ridiculus to pay for a professional version that gives you no music when the studio versions have it. Not sure what they are thinking but could use alot more thought here.

I am a videographer. I like the transitions and the ease of editing Pinnacle products provide. I am not a fan of how fast the software programs degrades from use. I spend hours working on projects and find that after I have completed around 4 projects the software needs to be repaired or re-installed.

When I was newer to this problem with Pinnacle software it held me up for months trying to figure out the problems and I got no help at all from the techs at Pinnacle. They seem to exist only to tell you to go to the tutorials. They don't want to help you, they want to tell you something to keep you busy looking in a tutorial and sign off on the call.

So tech help? You might as well be on your own. Better have a buddy close...
...

slny says "I feel safe with AVG softwear installed in my PC." about AVG Antivirus Free Edition

With AVG antivirus I have been problem free. I like the way it detects any virus or adware and stops it before it can even enter my system. Since I installed this software I have been alerted every time a Trojan or a dangerous tracking system is trying to enter my PC. The virus vault catches the problem and keeps it there until you have the time to empty your vault, the less dangerous is confined and deleted without any problems.

This is one of the best investments that I have made. I have to have my PC in good working order as it is necessary for my employment. So far this antivirus has made it possible for me to complete my projects without having to go and borrow someone's computer, which in the past I have had to do. I feel that this would benefit anyone that owns a laptop or desktop and make you feel safe when opening things that could turn around and bite you....

CoriRenee says "My laptop with VISTA has become a frien-emy" about Microsoft Vista Home Premium

I've had desktops and laptops for YEARS Some with Windows 98 - Some with ME - Some wtih XP - ALL of which were totally capable of adjusting to, and worked great minus a couple quirks specific to that OS..

NOT VISTA!!! IS SUCKS!!!! I absolutely HATE IT and am so sick of seeing that little spinny "wait" symbol and "NOT RESPONDING" errors that I actually look forward to coming to my office to use my Desktop with ME over my BRAND NEW IMB with Vista!!

I am sooooo getting Windows 7 asap!!!!
...
