MrKinnaman says "Great Low Cost Projector" about InFocus Learn Big IN24EP Projector

Built a home theatre on a shoestring budget. — after reviewing many projectors online and had seen these at work and knowing they had been dependable for the workplace, and also seeing them in an ad for $599 at circuit city, I Opted to try one out. — I have been using the Infocus IN24 for over a year now and have only found 1 major problem with using it for a home theatre. Over Heating of the bulb. The projector has built in protection that turns off the bulb and flashes the bulb light indicator (which some may think the bulb went out and will cost you a few hundred). To Remedy this, I placed a high velocity 12" fan on top of the bookshelf aimed up at the projector, this has supplimented the built in cooling fan enough to not have the bulb shut down in months of use. — I was able to pickup enough screen on ebay to have a 100" diaginal screen in my living room and mounted the projector on the ceiling. The projector has to be around 18" away from the...

vytas says "Beautiful HD in size XL that won't break the bank" about Panasonic Multimedia Projector PT-AX100U-EC

I have been following digital projectors for more than a decade. From office use projectors to home cinema projectors. Until recently, projectors were prohibitively expensive and of relatively low resolution. Their projected images lacked color fidelity and left a lot to be desired in the home theater arena. That was until recently when a crop of projectors started offering lower prices, better performance and HD resolution. — — The Panasonic PT-AX100U is the third interation of the most popular HD home theater projector line ever produced. Panasonic really hit its stride with the PT-AE700U and then went on to get raves with the release of the PT-AE900U. — — What really sets Panasonic PT-AX100U projector apart from others is its film like quality - there are no pixels to be seen. This is inspite of the fact that it uses 3 LCDs to generate the image - Panasonic has outdone itself in finding a way to mitigate the screen door effect that has plagued LCD...

TheBard says "It has lamp issues, but overall this is a nice Projector" about NEC LT 260K Multimedia Projector

Bottom-Line: Even thought the price point was steep, and we have that ongoing problem with the lamp, I believe the overall functionality of the unit was well worth the cost. Unfortunately, part of my job has been to provide occasional multimedia support in the guise of a laptop (connected to the network (Internet access) of course), mated with a multimedia LCD projector. I say unfortunately because invariably something goes wrong with the projector, the presentation of the laptop, or a combination thereof necessitating the need for me to (for lack of a better descriptor) baby sit the user, something I hate to do. Up until recently we had a couple of very old and bulky multimedia projectors that were more trouble then they were worth, so I bought a pair of NEC LT 260K Multimedia Projectors to replace them thinking that they would lighten my load; I was only partially right. — The Projector — The NEC LT 260K is a dual mode (2400 lumens in normal mode, and...

My wife may have underestemated me when saying " The basement is yours" . The viewsonic projector has turned our basement into a home theater. We have a glass wall (1 side is painted white) and the projector mounted on the cieling. The picture is about 90" diagonally and as good as a theater. The projector is about 8 feet from the wall. — We have directv hooked up with the regular non HD antenna. The quality of picture is fantanstic. The projector (PJ558D) has all the features you need. The ability to mount it upsidedown and flip the image. Keystone to offset the angle from the cieling. 2,500 ANSI lumens plenty of light. Set to "cool" the lamp is suppose to last 2,000 hours. The fan is super quiet barely notice when its on. — The set up is great for getting a huge picture with zero...
