lorihall2861 says "Is really a pretty good printer for the price!" about Hewlett Packard HP Deskjet D1430

We purchased a new Hewlett Packard Desktop Computer and received a HP Deskjet D1430 printer with it.

I do like this little printer, is simple, easy to load paper, requires simple print cartridges that easy to install. Has good print quality and produces work that one would not be ashamed to turn into teacher or to a potential employer with a resume. Print is clear, legible and not at all blurred.

Is not a pricey product, runs about $30 on a normal basis. Will definitely get your money out of it. The printer ink runs about $14 for Black ink and $23 for color ink.

Could you sense there was a but.... coming? I usually tend to doubt a product when it is given to me for purchasing something else. The need to prove the product drives me. I have put this product to the test and it has not always come out on top. Does produce a good document when it is aligned. Seems to somehow unalign itself more than I care for it to. If you take the printer ink cartridge out for some reason and put the same...
...

maggiemay321 says "The Brother MFC490CW printer is a good home office printer." about Brother MFC-490cw Color Flatbed All-In-One

The Brother MFC490CW printer is an easy to use all in one printer that does faxing, scanning, copying or printing. One of the best features about the MFC490CW is the wireless printing feature that lets you print from you laptop from anywhere in the house. The paper tray is small and you can't see when the tray is empty. You just have to wait until it beeps and says it need more paper. It uses four cartridges so you only have to replace the color that is empty. But the cartridges can be expensive so I often use the no name brand. I hope this doesn't cause any problem in the future, but I save around 40% off the name brand cartridges. The print quality is good and fast except when printing pictures. Pictures take too long to print and the color is often bad. The price was good for less than $80 and this including Wi-Fi which is the only way to go. So far this has been a good printer except when it comes to printing pictures.
...

About three months ago, we went to our local Best Buy in search of a new printer to replace our old Hewlett Packard. The salesman highly recommended the Kodak printer, citing its affordable price and economical replacement cartridges. The store only had one Kodal All In One...ESP5 printer left in stock. When he could show me that it worked, I agreed to accept it out of box for a ten percent discount. However, when he brought it to the counter, we discovered it was in two pieces. The paper tray was broken. Best Buy discounted the machine by an extra 10 percent, and agreed to take it, as is. The machine does print well, but the construction is obviously cheap, and I have no clue how long it will last. We do not print too many copies each week, so that is working in our favor. However, when our cat jumps on the machine, the paper tray and paper (and cat) always go flying. Good thing he has nine lives. I hope the Kodak printer does, too. (By the way, this machine is extremely...
...

i love this printer it does everything, prints, copys, scans, and faxes. u can print wirelessly which is great for when u have a laptop or pc in another room, it prints in letter or legal and a wonderful array of different formats, even birthday, and business cards too. It can print wonderful 8.5 x 11 borderless pictures perfectly and the ink lasts really long. You can copy without it being hooked up to a computer and there is also a junk fax blocker to prevent unsolicited junk faxes from getting to you. u can reduce or enlarge pics at te touch of a button and u can also print and copy in black and white or colored.
...

Yikes! I'm really wishing I had chosen a different printer! It sounded great. Low price, lots of capabilities (fax, copier, color and b/w prints), and from a well respected brand, but watch out! This thing eats ink like you would believe! AND the ink is really pricey and doesn't last. The claims for the number of prints are completely false, you won't even get half the prints that the manufacturer promises. I don't even print photos and I barely get 20 prints (with limited color) out of each $24 color cartridge. Do the math and I could have purchased a top of the line color laser printer! The quality of the machine is acceptable, but nothing special and the machine frequently get paper and carriage jams. Also, HP has fixed this printer so that generic cartridges do not work and the new cartridges are not able to be refilled at lower cost by retailers like Walgreens or Office Depot. HP has fixed it so that the consumer has no other option than to get soaked buying overpriced...
...

The Lexmark X5650es All in one printer is a good buy for the price. It does everything from copy documents, scan to a computer, fax to any location, print items from online, and also has the ability to take pictures from a memory card and transfer them to paper. For the most part it's a great thing to have for someone who works out of their home office or just needs a printer that can do everything. I do have to say that if the price was any higher , I would be inclined to purchase another brand. Overall it is pretty good.
...

We've had this printer for some time. We don't do a lot of printing, but pretty much have found it to be reliable. We do have a lot of problems with paper jams, but don't know if it is the printer or the paper. Due to buy a new supply of paper soon, so we'll see if that improves. This is an all-in-one, so we can print from the computer, copy documents on a flatbed and scan on a flatbed (haven't tried that feature) yet. It also includes a fax which we haven't tested either.

All around, it's been a good household printer, especially for the cost. I believe around $60. We bought it at Staples because they are near the house and generally have good prices on these types of items.

I would recommend it to someone looking for a household printer that doesn't really get a lot of use. The cartridges are as reasonably priced as any others. I haven't had to change the color one yet, but just recently changed the black one. Which brings up one difficult feature - opening the door...
...

I was sucked in by a great ad online. In the ad they showed a pile of pages that you could expect some other brand of printer to print on average with their ink cartridges. Then they showed a much, much larger pile that the Kodak Esp3 printer would print with their ink cartridges. Now, this pile looked to be atleast three times larger. To further impress consumers they offer their ink at a much reduced price compared to other brands. However, what they advertised and what I got were two different things. I can't believe they got away with that. Yes, the ink's cheaper. NO! It does not print anywhere near the amount of pages they said it would. This printer doesn't even print the amount of pages as they showed the competition does. As far as quality of print, it's average. Another downer, and this is important, is that if your black cartridge runs empty but you still have color ink, you cannot print anymore. No, you cannot just print in color, or vica verca. It...
...

I had previously had another HP Deskjet All-in-One that lasted me throughout college, but it was time for a new one. I am also able to scan photos for duplicates, or to add them to an online photo gallery. The copy option is also very useful. We made our own wedding invitations with this machine using the print and copy features.

The laser printer HP 1000 was great- at first. It was a reliable printer with very good quality prints, printed reasonably fast and I was able to purchase it at a very reasonable price of I think somewhere around $160.00. I was able to purchase cartridges and refill them myself with no problem to reap a huge savings on ink. I had no problem using these refilled cartridges with this printer. Then all of a sudden after several years of printing with moderate frequency and volume at home, in the middle of printing a large document there was a loud screaching noise and I haven't been able to use it since. I think one of the rollers must be damaged but I am not convinced that it is worth the cost of having it fixed versus buying a new one. HP printers are probably among the better printers on the market, but they are so common that I can't say that I could compare it to another brand since my other printer is also an HP (inkjet). I don't recall my exact date of purchase, but my estimate is...
...

I purchased the HP all in one photosmart printer less than a year ago and seriously do not know what I did without it. It is so easy to use and has a small screen with directions should you get confused. Has a memory card slot so that you can print the pictures off your camera without uploading to your computer. Has red eye removal on it and prints nice quality pictures. Also has a copier and scanner on it. You can print black and white or color copies. Has an easy set up button and is easy to install on your computer. Comes with clear directions that are printed in a book and also has directions that pop up on the small screen to guide you thru set up. The only down fall that I have with this printer is that it eats up ink very fast. I have started printing everything in fast draft from the printer settings so that I do not use as much ink but it still seems that I am always in need of the color or black ink, however the ink is not overly expensive you can get both cartridges...
...

The Canon 3-in-1 Inkjet Printer is the printer I've been looking for to complement my printing/scanning and copying needs. It's also a great product for the price. I got mine for about forty dollars, and I also feel like Canon offers inexpensive ink cartridges when my ink runs out. From the moment I opened the package to today, I have felt like the product has been so easy to use. Setup took just a few minutes, thanks to the easy to follow instructions that were included, and I am certain that anyone, even the most technologically disadvantaged can use this product. The printer and copier functions create high quality documents and photos, and I love the way that I can connect my digital camera directly to the printer to print photos without the use of a computer, eliminating a step that can often be a hassle when I'm in a hurry. The on-screen directions that appear every time I want to scan a document or photo are also easy to follow, and I can scan several documents in a matter of minutes....
...

Where do I start this is the worst and most expensive printer I have ever owned. The printer is slow and loud. It has a lot of networking features but they do no good on a crappy printer. After a month i had to call and order a new printhead for it. The cheap ink lasts a week and you end up just buying more. The printer does not work good and constantly has errors everytime the home center opens the printer needs to have the firmware reinstalled. It makes ok pictures with a computer. This printer works a lot better as a stand alone printer or a network printer. I noticed it works a lot better connected wirelessly then with a USB cablee. I definitly would not suggest this printer to anyone your just wasting your money. Kodak has good customer support and will send you a lot of the parts free but who wants to fix it every two months. Beware that the print heads are not built into the cartriges so it fails often.
...

For the price this is an amazing printer at 32 pages per minute it beats a lot of its competion. I like the touch screen. The only part I didn't like is the bloatware it installed with the printer but thats HP for you. The printer is very responsive and quiet. The printer pushes out pages fast and does spectacular color prints. The ink is comparable to Kodaks ink prices which for an Hp is pretty good. If your looking for an inexpensive printer that has a lot of features and is fast this is the printer for you. The printer does a good job of sorting paper weights so that two pages of opposite weight feed one at a time. I would like to see the printer have wireless but adding the printer to your network through a USB cable works just as well. The printer comes with starter ink cartriges which is nice. Overall the printer is great and i would reccomend this printer to anyone looking for fast printing speeds.
...

The Kodak ESP-3 printer is a good bet if you just need cheap printing and aren't looking to impress anyone with it. I use it at college because the black ink cartridges are only $10, and obviously my professors aren't too concerned with the quality of the print job. They just want a legible paper to read.

The printer itself tends to be a tad slow. The Kodak software that comes with it is awful. The other main problem with this printer is that it will misfeed if there are only a few sheets of paper left in the tray.

This printer is not supported for Linux users. Mac & Windows only, unfortunately.

I like and am happy with this printer, mostly because I can't afford to spend buckets of money on ink. I would recommend it to anyone who does basic printing. I've never had any problems out of it for the year that I have had it, but I wish it a speedier print. This would be best for students.
...

Hewlett Packard makes a lot of high quality products, and they don't stop doing so. I really like this brand after owning a Hewlett Packard computer, I decided to add a Hewlett Packard PSC (printer, scanner, copier) 1400 series along with it. I knew I wanted a copier in my printer, and this one does quite well. When my son was younger, he had a lot of hospitalizations and I had to have copies of his medical records to send in to be reimbursed by our insurance company. At 10 cents a copy, I realized that adds up really fast. It was at that time when I told my husband that the next printer we buy, it will have a copier also. We use it a lot. The scanner is ok. I don't scan a lot of stuff, but what I have scanned is, plainly put, viewable. It's not a crisp, sharp, clear as a whistle scan, but it gets the job done. The printer works very well. Everything prints clear, and you can choose to print in color or black and white. The ink refills are affordable at around $30 for both a black refill...
...

BonMom says "Great printer for the price" about Canon MP240

After many years of service, our old printer just wasn't compatible with my new Hewlett Packard laptop. Since we did not want to spend a great deal after having just purchased the laptop, we looked for an on sale quality printer. This one is easy to use and has photo capability along with fax, scanning, and copying. It is easy for this not very handy tech-challenged right brainer to use.

I have had to replace the printer cartridges and managed to do this without too much difficulty. There is great information about the printer, its use and trouble shooting, downloaded on to your computer when you register the product. I have found the copies clear and have had no problems with paper jams or other difficulties.

I have not used the fax, but appreciate the scanner and copier so I don't have to use my husband's for these functions. My only complaint is that the ink cartridge information is hidden somewhere in all this great information. All they need to do is add this,...
...

lourendon says "The HP Photosmart C5180 is a good all-in-one printer." about Hewlett Packard Photosmart C5180 Printer

The HP Photosmart C5180 all-in-one printer, scanner, and copier works incredibly fast and prints, scans and copies with true-to-life color that is hard to beat. The HP Photosmart C5180 allows users to print laser-quality documents and lab-quality photos without a computer using memory cards, USB flash memory drive and the large 2.4-inch color image display.

A major drawback is the option to print in grayscale using only the black cartridge. The option is offered, but does not work as advertised. If your color cartridges are low, when you start to print the printer will require you to OK a warning that color is low, then it'll ask if it's OK to print using only black. If your color cartridge is completely empty, you can't print at all, even in grayscale, even after selecting the option to use only the black cartridge.

A Google search uncovered another problem reported by multiple users- the printer constantly claimed that brand new, HP-branded ink cartridges were empty. These problems...
...

CMLJ says "The Hewlett Packard 932C desk jet is reliable and durable." about Hewlett Packard 932 DeskJetc C

The Hewlett Packard 932 C is a good choice for everyday color printing. The quality is not professional photo grade, but it's good enough for day to day use. It is fairly small in size, so it won't take up too much space on your desk. The Hewlett Packard 932 C printer is very durable, and will last for several years as long as it's not abused. I haven't had any problems with mine, and my family has used it regularly for several years. It is very easy to disconnect and reconnect to my personal computer, and I've had to pack it up and move it several times over the years. All that I've ever had to do is plug it back into the console, and it's always worked great. One word of caution: the ink cartridges can be refilled by the user, but this is tricky to do, and can be messy if you don't know what your're doing. Also, most of time I have my 932 C printer settings at the 'draft' level, which will save on ink. If I'm printing something special, I'll use the regular settings,...
...
