joyjoy says "This was an expensive mistake." about Asus ASUS VH196T

The Good

This monitor has a beautiful picture while the wide screen allows the entire page to be displayed. I've used it with both the DVI and VGA cables (included) and the picture was superb. It is basically plug and play, connect the cables and you are ready. Although the monitor doesn't swivel, it does adjust up or down.

The Bad

The buttons are very difficult to see and use. With the exception of the ON button, which is orange, the buttons are black on black. Even worse is that they are located at the bottom right and have to be pressed with the thumb, I can only imagine how much harder it would be for someone who was left handed. I cannot say about the OSD because I have never used it, the manual is three pages long, does not address the menu, and I am not able to figure how it works. Since I am not a techie let me add that in reviews I have read people who have technical abilities have complained of the difficulties.

The Ugly

The main problem with this monitor was the lack of tech...
...

For someone like me, next to a serious injury to someone in my family, this was the worst thing to happen. I am literally on this computer every day, all day, save for eating, working out, and socializing. Notice how I didn't say sleeping? That's because many times I fall asleep right here. About 3-1/2 years ago I switched to laptops, as it's easier as an entertainment writer to have something I can use while I'm watching TV and movies. For me, it was the perfect setup. Notice how I said was? Yeah, I broke my LCD screen.

It was my own stupid fault. I was in a bad mood and dropped my remote on my MacBook laptop. It hit the corner of my screen and caused it to shatter a little. But that wasn't the bad part. The bad part was the liquid crystal inside ran. It never leaked out, but covered up the display so that I couldn't see most of the bottom half. I was horrified. I did the rest of my work that night by peering through only half of the screen, which was a total pain, and took it into the...
...

JovialCougar says "Acer 18.5 inch monitor: Good bang for the buck" about Acer 18.5'' LCD Monitor

When the flat screen monitor that came with my Dell PC went belly up I found an Acer 18.5 inch screen monitor for $105 to replace it. Although the cost was a bit more than I wanted to spend, it was one of the cheaper flat screen LCD monitors on the market, and has proven to be a good buy.

Since this Acer monitor is a flat screen it easily fits on my desk. The back extends out only about 4 inches and the V-shaped base easily slides in the bottom. It was very easy to assemble and hook up.

The screen is very clear and has good colors, contrast, and viewability. If you want the Specs the guidebook included the following:

Contrast Ratio 10,000 to1

1366 X 768 Resolution

0.3mm pixel pitch

5 ms response time

The monitor came with a Quick Start guide which was of minimal help in learning about the CRT. It only has a small diagram showing how the wires are arranged and safety instruction. An included CD was more useful in learning how to change the screen controls.

One thing I don't...
...

beknhank says "Hewlett Packard hp w1907 nice WHEN IT WORKS !!" about Hewlett Packard hp w1907

I have researched this monitor and learned that this is a problem monitor! Lots of people have reported that it shuts off ,goes black, or permanently to sleep ! So far all of the above has happened to mine and it is only a matter of time before it just doesn't work. Let's keep in mind it's not even 2 yrs old! I don't know about you but I don't think it's right to spend a lot of money on a computer set up to need a new monitor every 2 years .Not fair at all.

I swear these things have a set timer in them to go nuts so companies can make more money off you. Technology these days can really make it possible. Done with the paranoia rant =) although wouldn't doubt it to be true.

Any one from HP reading this is welcome to take it back and send me a new one and I promise to make a nice review about good customer service ! Talk about dreamy but worth a shot !

Anyways....it's a nice monitor if it only worked right. By the way I am on my daughters com right...
...

While there are surely better monitors out there, I highly doubt you will find a better one for the low $300 price tag. Hands down, it is the best monitor I've ever had the pleasure of owning. It took only a few minutes to set up, and it helps that it's really light weight. So no more lugging a heavy monitor up the stairs for me, or breaking my back if I want to position it somewhere else. Its thin factor (only half an inch!) is really nice, and is the thinnest monitor I've ever owned - not to mention that it comes startlingly close to the quality of old CRT monitors (which is the main reason some people still can't let them go). It's 23 inches in width, which is a great size for an HD monitor. Speaking of which, it also has HDMI input. It is also Energy-Star compliant. Bottom line, this is an outstanding monitor, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a large, high-quality screen for an affordable price.
...

I got this for a good price. It works great. Instant on. Color is wonderful. Screen will rotate although I have not used that function much.

My only problem is the speakers. They are in the back and no matter what I do I can not adjust the sound. I called HP and after finely getting the service guy to understand I do not have a pc I have a Mac the "aditude" changed complety from freindly to almost angry. He said inno uncertain word "well we do not know anything about Apples " goodbye. I was upset withthis., Oh that was in a "chat window." I found a phone number and got alive person who also was unable to help me. I have written e-mails and complained that why are these not labled not Apple/Mac compatable.? So I have had to hook up external speakers to hear. I also complained to the store were I bought it. I would take it back but they don't carry anything that they know of that is compatable. I am going to send Apple a letter also.

So bottom line the monitor i s fine the customer service...
...

The samsung syncmaster 204t is a wonderful monitor that has excellent graphics. I originally got the monitor and found it to be defective. so i called the factory and they sent a replacement immediately and then paid for the shipping to get the old monitor back to them with no questions asked. I had no issues with using this monitor with vista (which was new at the time) or even on windows 7. i never had to get a driver and it gives stunning quality even with my so-so video card. i has a huge screen resolution size and is very bright. the 20.1" screen is more than enough size to do just about anything. i even watch movies on it since most old CRT TV's are only about 25 inches. also the quality on this monitor is much higher than a regular LCD television. i have now had the monitor for almost 3 years and have had NO problems with it whatsoever. so if your looking for a monitor that is excellent quality a very decent size and a great value then this monitor is defiantly your best bet.
...

The Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP 20-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor with Height Adjustable Stand is just wonderful. It has bright and sharp colr. The screen is just wide enough for anything. The screen has some uptodate things such as colr, size, and shape. The pros about this product are it has great color, adjustable and durable, it swivels, wonderful wonderful video quality, height adjustable, vertical or horizontal, its all up to you, it's your choice, and last but not least it is just perfect.

The cons are it is not ceap at all the average price is about 550. That is higher than most but i would rather have this. The programs that come on them are not the best. I would recommend you not to get windows vista but windows 7 their is a free upgrade on their website. My whole family, neighbors, and friends think I have the best screen in the world, beacuse the screen is just perfect. it has the best colr size and then it can turn around.

I would recommend anyone to get this screen espically...
...

My big old CRT monitor at work finally started going bad, so my employer switched it for a sleek new Dell E198WFP 19-inch LCD widescreen monitor. The E198WFP is really a pleasure compared to the old monitor and it takes up MUCH less desk space.

Since I didn't pay for it, it's hard to get the exact cost. However, I think the Dell E198WFP is currently selling for less than $150.

What it is

The Dell E198WFP 19-inch widescreen monitor is an LCD computer monitor. I has both VGA and DVI inputs, and comes with cables for both input types. (The VGA cable was attached and I had to remove it to attach the DVI cable.) The monitor comes with a stand and the whole thing presents a pleasingly conservative look. Dressed in black, the Dell E198WFP is a good monitor for an office setting -- nothing flashy, just purposeful.

The Dell E198WFP's native resolution is 1440 x 900, which is typical of 19-inch widescreen monitors. This actually works out to a 16:10 aspect ratio -- that's somewhat standard for...
...

Wow!! What a treat having the ViewSonic LCD Monitor. Was a fantastic price, easy hookup, and not a single problem. I just love Viewsonic! I upgraded from my 19" Viewsonic LCD monitor, which was 2 yrs. old and totally troublefree, to this 22" to enhance my gameplaying. Just fantastic. I also recently bought my wife a ViewSonic 22" TV monitor, which we just love. You can't beat ViewSonic's price, features, dependability, and ease of use and installation. Sure, if you want to spend $600 or more for the very best brand that it is out there you might get a little better performance, but believe me, I researched alot of different manufacturers before I made this VX2240w purchase, and I couldn't find anything better that fit my needs, esp. price!! I play World of Warcraft, and it has taken on a whole new dimension with this monitor. Can't go wrong with this monitor.
...

Acer P Series 22" LCD Monitor has turned out to be a fairly good monitor and it was chee[ enough, not bad for what you get overall. But there were a couple of issues that really got my goat in the beginning. I bought it brand new to go with the E machines computer I bought and I was sorely disappointed with the fact that when I got it out of the box, brand new, it did not work. I spent half my day fiddling around trying to figure out why my computer was not working before it finally cvame down to the monitor was a lemon. THen I had to get on customer service and spend another hour trying to trouble shoot and eventually having to get information to return it-- via fed ex or something which was quite a schlep from my house. THen they sent me a refurbished monitor which further upset me because I paid fopr a NEW monitor and I ended up with a used one. It was further frustrating because I essentially had no computer for a week or two waiting for the replacement to be delivered. Ever since I...
...

Although I have only had this monitor for just over a week, I am very impressed with it. The amount of horizontal viewing space it fantastic and the color & brightness of this monitor is outstanding. I play pc video games and DOOM3 looks terrific with this contrast ratio. There is no hesitation in game movement and the shading makes you feel as though you are in the game itself. I even get goose bumps when the creatures come at me to try and kill me. The monitor is HD ready and I plan to connect it to my dvr in the near future to see how the picture looks from my HD DVR.

This is my very first brand new monitor to go with my new computer that I got for christmas. It is a Hewlett Packard w2338h. I got a wonderful deal on it at Staples where it was on sale and I also got to use my coupons that I had saved to use on something big.

When my old CRT monitor died I debated on whether to buy an LCD monitor. I am soooo glad I did. I wasn't too sure about the Westinghouse brand but I have been extremely satisfied. It has a clear sharp picture and excellent color. It takes up much less space on my desltop and gives off less heat. I can use it longer without feeling eye strain. I do a lot of gaming. surfing and reading on-line and it is so much better that a CRT monitor for all those things. The pictures and graphics in the games are just amazing looking. I like the way it tilts on the stand. I can't tilt it down when my niece uses it so she can see the whole screen clearly. It has fully adjustable brightness, contrast, and sharpness as well as three quick settings for picture, text and economy mode. I have had it for about a year and I would never go back to a CRT monitor. It was an excellent value for the money and I had no problem claiming my rebate from Westinghouse. When I first unpacked it...
...

minniemouse956 says "Great for the price!" about Hewlett Packard pavilion F1703 Flat Screen Monitor

The Hewlett Packard pavilion F1703 Flat Screen Monitor is awesome! I bought this monitor after using an "old style" monitor that weighed a ton!! I paid $100 for this monitor and got a $31 rebate from Hewlett Packard, so for $69, I thought - why not! When it arrived and I got it hooked up, I turned it on, and the color was amazing. It was SO much better than my old monitor. I can't believe I waited so long to get a flat screen monitor. My old monitor was malfunctioning pretty often, and I had to keep turning it off and turning it back on. No problems with this monitor at all. It takes up SO much less space on my desk, it's unbelievable!! The price was the first thing that drew me to this monitor, but the Hewlett Packard name was big on my list as well. With Hewlett Packard's good reputation and customer service, I knew I couldn't go wrong with purchasing this flat swcreen monitor.
...

Stephie0216 says "Wonderful Monitor" about LG 22 inch Flatron Widescreen LCD Monitor

I bought the LG Flatron W2253TQ monitor. I got it for a great price at HHGregg. I was shopping around for monitors something not to expensive something that will be good when I am playing games on my computer. The movies, game graphics are really sharp on this monitor compaired to some other ones I have seen around. The sensor touch is pretty cool as well. And teh lighting on it when you have the light on or off its neat how it knows what lighting it should be on (it adjusts itselfs to the lighting in your room). The 22" I had to get used to at first since I never had a monitor this big but its worth it.
...

MrScientist says "Good video, horrendous audio" about Acer H213H

This review is for the Acer 21.5" H213H monitor. This monitor has a glossy black bezel and built-in speakers. The video on the monitor is nice. Though it was a bit difficult for me to get it tuned to how I wanted it to look, the default settings weren't that great. I don't do any gaming, so I can't comment on that aspect of the monitor, but it's full 1080p resolution, in conjunction with the HDCP allows Blu Ray video watching at full resolution and the video looks pretty good.

However, the speakers are worth about 3 cents, I don't know why Acer even included them with the monitor. First of all, they sound really bad. Second of all, when the monitor goes into standby, the speakers turn off as well, so you can't walk away from your computer with your music playing and expect it to keep playing while the monitor goes into standby (which I do quite often).

All in all, this is a pretty good monitor, but don't plan on putting away your current speakers when you order it (like I...
...

ceilidh00 says "Excellent monitor for a fairly low price." about Samsung SyncMaster 2030

I bought my Samsung 2030 on the recommendation of a friend. Basically it's awesome. It's got a bright screen. I use it for gaming and graphic design and it handles it all very well. It provides a clear, bright image, something I need and appreciate. The dual input is also awesome as I have my PC using the DVI input and my Xbox using the RBG input. I no longer have to switch cables to switch systems. Just hit the button on the side. I would recommend this or another samsung monitor to anyone looking to buy a new monitor.
...
