nebg9 says "This is a great laptop worth every penny" about Dell Latitude D610 Laptop

The thin-and-light Latitude D600 series, based on the new Pentium M processor, marks the start of an ambitious new corporate look for Dell. Not only has the company redesigned all of its popular Latitude laptops, it has also reworked its docking stations, port replicators, and media modules. The notebooks carry the very latest components, including Pentium M processors and Intel's new 855 chipset. The D600 series isn't always a true-blue Centrino, but it can be. The company offers either the Centrino-completing Intel Pro wireless mini-PCI card, known as Calexico, or Dell Computer's own TrueMobile Wi-Fi mini-PCI cards, supporting 802.11a/b/g. If your corporate budget includes money for a new laptop line, the Latitude D series is a wise way to spend it.

The keyboard is big and solid.
If the old Latitude C600 was the comfort food of corporate computing, then the new Latitude D600 series would be the dessert. The silver D600 is a smaller, sleeker version of the gray C600, measuring 1.2 by 12.4...
...

joespimpin says "Acer Aspire 5532 is a great aggressively priced notebook." about Acer Aspire 5532-5535

Whether you are looking for a portable product featuring Windows 7 or on the fence about buying a notebook or netbook, Acer's Aspire 5532 notebook is an aggressively priced notebook that will turn many heads for the right reason.

Lets face it most of us out there are not hard core PC gamers or overclocking gurus of hardware. Most of us look for performance and reliablility for day to day activities such as checking email, viewing videos, doing school work and representing ourselves online in various forums and such. Acer has put a product out there for that very reason.

Why to buy?

Acer has positioned this notebook in the price range of most netbooks which do far less in scope of performance and flexibility. Add the sleek design and small form factor and you have a product designed for an on the go compute anywhere lifestyle. Its 3GB of RAM and use of a Single core processor gives you longer battery life, less heat and a quieter computing experience then its higher end competitors. ...
...

pmitchell1990 says "Well worth the money" about Lenovo Lenovo Laptop

Seeing as I bought this Lenovo Laptop at a Circuit city close out, I got it for a great price. At 80% off, it was only $384.00. Its brand new and the graphics are amazing. In order to log onto the computer, you must utilize the Veriface recognition- something very cool in a laptop. The 3gigs of ram gives me plenty of options to keep multiple windows open and multitask throughout the day. Im always working on several different projects at once, so its good to have a computer than can keep up. I can averagly burn a CD in less than 4 minutes, so thats another plus. I love watching movies on there and hooking the vga connector to my high def television. Its been about 7 months since Ive had this laptop, and I still never had a problem with it. Lenovo makes a great product overall, but I would have difficulty saving up as much money to buy one, had it not been on sale. I would still reccommend this product to any gamer, tech person, or workaholic; it comes n a great package and overall its ahead...
...

The Toshiba Satellite L505D-S5965 is a good choice for high school or college students. It has a 250 GB Hard drive, perfect for a mass media major in college. An AMD Athlon X2 QL-65 Processor, im not quiet sure what that means but i know it runs fast. 3GB DDR2 800MHZ memory, im pretty sure this is the fastest memory possible for this laptop. The graphics card is an ATI Radeon 3100, again im not exactly sure what that means but, the picture is great especially when watching movies and editing photos and videos. It also has a DVD-Supermulti (+/-R double layer) with Labelflash drive, basically this means that you can burn CD's and DVD's, you can also watch CD's and DVD's no matter if they were burnt from a different computer and no matter what file format they are in. It comes with Genuine Windows Vista installed but, you can upgrade to Genuine Windows 7. It also has a built-in Wifi, Standard stereo speakers, headphone jack, Microphone Jack, and a built-in Mircophone.
...

velinaw says "Tough transition from PC to Mac" about Macintosh macbook

I convinced my husband to purchase the MacBook after our desktop contracted a series of virus and we had to reformat the harddrives for the 3rd time. We use the MacBook to track our family finances and continue to use the PC for other non-financial activities.

The graphics and usability of the computer is great. It instantly found and connected to our wireless modem without me having to do much of anything.

There were some challenges with using it for online banking as my bank doesn't support Safari. After installing FireFox, this problem went away. But it is slightly frustrating to have 2 different Internet browser programs.

After installing Quicken for the Mac, I found the transition from the PC version to the Mac version challenging. The conversion of categories and data was not as straight forward as it could have been.

The Mac came with offers on various Apple software, that, I am sure is pretty good. It was a challenge to switch from Windows Office to the Numbers. ...
...

Gateway continues to offer some of the best bang-for-your-buck retail laptops. The NV7802u is a fine example: It's a 17-inch wide-screen model with a well rounded port assortment and decent horsepower supplied by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4GB of DDR memory. You also get a larger than usual 500GB hard drive for storage. Even its battery life is respectable, considering the size of the system. Other than some niggling design issues and a couple of features we wished it had, the NV7802u is a sound pick for everyday home and office computing.

I started out using a Dell Laptop computer. I was having problems every time I would use my computer. Every time I would try to do anything my computer would lock up, and I would have to start all over. My fiance has a MacBook Pro and he loves it, it is like his baby. He eventually talked me in to buying a MacBook. I was worried at first because they are so expensive and I'm not sure if they are worth the money. I immediately changed my mind----it is so AMAZING. I can do absolutely anything on my MacBook. A MacBook is 100 times better than a PC. I have used both types of computers and I am so much happier with my MacBook. I am still a college student and my MacBook goes with me to every class and I couldn't be happier with how much easier it makes everything I do. It's very user friendly. The only thing I do not like about my MacBook is it gets dirty easily. Also I was my MacBook had an SD card slot, that is one thing I miss about my Dell computer.
...

I got this PC about a year and a half ago and it is still running great. My model has a built in "roll cage" which will protect it well expecially with how clumsy i am but ultimately it is just too heavy. If It was a more stationary laptop it would be fine but i bring it to school with me every day which makes it a problem for me. But the overall performance, if weight isn't an issue, Is very good. The display is very nice and things run fast. The sound is also good and goes up pretty loud. It is very nice to watch movies on it. So i would probably give it a four star rating because now it is more obsolete even after only about two years so it could have a better processor but overall it is still fine. The price is pretty high i paid about 1700 i think then maybe it is lower now but you can get a better dell for that price now so even though i like this computer, my next would be something more like a dell.
...

Here is my view on Acer Aspire 3680-2682. First thing about it is that I am using it to do this review now. It is easy to use when you know what it can do I am still learning. It is not hard to use. Besides using the computer for E-Mails and networking you can watch movies and hear your music and even make music I think you can edited videos had not tried it yet but you can. The other thing about having a computer like this you need to get yourself protections for the system. That is what I am having a problem with right now. I don't really have not downside with this Computer yet but you looking for a system that you can do a lot of things this is it. I don't have a photo but I can say it is gray outside and black when you open it. It comes with a AC Adapter from Delta Electronics Inc V85. The only problem I have is that when I unplug the power the energy get wasted a bit fast. Try it yourself.
...

I got this laptop to replace my other Compaq that was broken. I like it well enough, thgouth I'm not entirely in love with it. It was not an overly expensive model, but it came with most of the features that were important to me.

It runs Windows Vista, which I knwo a lot of people complain about, but I haven't really had many issues with it. I guess there are tiems when the computer runs slow, but I never really know if that's the computer itself or if it has more to do with the AT&T U-Verse connection that it's running on.

One complaint that I do have is that I haven't been able to play DVDs on my laptop. It has the Windows Media Player installed, but I have yet to be able to get it to work properly. That is really annoying.

It has a nice wide screen and the color seems good. There are built in speakers & the sound is also just fine.

All in all it's a pretty good little laptop & the price is right.
...

I really love my Toshiba computer. I previously had HP which was great but I had to get an affordable computer fast after my HP started acting up with perhaps a virus. Due to the price of my Toshiba, it goes over and beyond my expectations. First off, my screen is really big and clear. Then, all the applications, programs and software that comes pre loaded is a plus. It introduced me to other things I can do with my computer. Next, windows Vista is really good. With my HP, which is Hewlitt Packard, I had windows XP, and although I am not that computer savy, I do prefer Windows Vista over Windows XP. I am interested to see how windows 7 measures up to my Vista. Vista is easy to navigate and I am able to open multiple internet windows without having to have multiple task on my task bar, in which I believe slows down the operating process. The WiFi was a definite plus. At the time when I purchased my computer, I DID NOT have the funds to ger an internet connection...
...

i love my sony laptop. it has been a great computer for me to use. it's easy and understandable . i love the on line support that i receive from sony. my operating system did go down once but i was able to get it up and running again thanks to a friend who knew how. sony was very helpful in this matter. i would tell anyone if they are going to purchase a computer to get it from best buy and purchase a sony.

i plan on buying a new sony in the future. i am willing to pay the price for a new sony computer. love my laptop and i want a new one in my future; i will be purchasing a new sony in the future.

i understand most of the features now and i know how to defragment my computer change the system time back if i have problems which resets it. when i first recived tghis laptop i knew nothing about computers and now i know quite a bit from learning on line and on my own two.

tnjade says "Don't buy this laptop unless you plan on using a wired mouse." about Dell D610

The Dell Latitude D610 laptop has a known defect with the touchpad. The mouse will "freeze" and you will be unable to use the mouse until the laptop finally "unfreezes". This makes it incredibly difficult to use the laptop without frustration. It will also randomly shut itself down.

While I enjoy being able to use my television (the laptop has a TV-out port), I am frustrated that Dell knows that there is a defect with the touchpad, and they will not address/fix the issue. If you want to use a wired or wireless mouse with this laptop, it may fit your needs, but if you do not, then I would avoid the Dell Latitude D610 and go with another, proven system.

While we're on the topic of mouse usage, I have found research stating that the USB ports will short out if something is connected while the computer is on (ports are not hot-swappable).

If I had the chance to purchase something similar, I would probably have gone with a NetBook.
...

deetergirl says "for a nice design this laptop is nothing special" about ALIENWARE AREA 51 M9750

I have had the alienware area 51 m9750 laptop for about 5 months now and I can say that this laptop is mediocore in performance and in design. I bought this laptop on the cheap because i needed one or else i would never pay full price for such a garish looking lap top . the design is black with a glowing blue alien on the top and when i take it out in public i feel well, dorky. but like i said i was in dire need of a laptop. the laptop looks like something a 14 year old boy would use. as far as performance goes, it is nothing special the thing starts up slow and every other time i use it the thing boots me offline because it says it has no internet connection. the laptop does it's job because i use it for mostly writing but as far as internet is concerned i may as well have aol or something because of the interupted connections and the slow running, and kicking me off line. i guess i got what i paid for.
...

jennifer122105 says "The HP Pavilion dv2 is just what the doctor ordered!" about Hewlett Packard Pavilion dv2

I bought this laptop in August for going to college in the fall. Since then, I have not had any problems with it at all. It has 4 GB RAM with a 500 GB harddrive. Running Windows Vista with a free upgrade to Windows 7 (just recieved it!). It works great for just about anything, browsing the internet, gaming, and simple tasks for students (word processing). The CD/DVD drive/burner is external which has its ups and downs. The USB ports are limited; I think that there are 3 on the whole computer. Only thing is that my button to turn off my touchpad has stopped working, but I think that that is just a driver that needs to be fixed. Fortunately, my parents paid for it, but it was only $799. It came with a year warranty, but to be cautious, we paid for an extra 2 years extended warranty in case of any problems. I love this laptop, extremely light and small, making it perfect for portability. It is a black, gorgeous laptop, but one that will collect fingerprints, so beware!...
...
