I love my laptop. The price was right, and I though the laptop was great until it locked up almost every time I was using it. I could not complete a task on the computer without it locking up. I had the software reloaded, and it is doing great now!

The mouse pad is sometimes difficult to use. It takes some pressure to get the mouse to move.

Also, the laptop is ahrd to transport. I enjoy my large screen, but it is difficult to carry. The laptop is also pretty heavy to tote for long distances.

If you are picky about fingerprints, this may not be the laptop for you. The fingerprints are quite visible on the monitor frame, mouse pad, and other areas on the laptop. The laptop does come with a nice cloth to wipe the smudges and screen.

Overall, I enjoy the laptop, and I am satisfied with my decision. If you can find a good price on the laptop, I would suggest buying it!

The laptop has a wonderful bronze color which was one of the points that sold me!
...

gothickitten22 says "Computer for work? Works for me!" about HP Comapq Compaq NC 6140

Ok, I may not know everything bout this computer but I do know that I REALLY like it. It's a small laptop, small enough for me and my lap isn't quite as long. It's not like those tiny tiny laptops that practically fit in the palm of your hand. This laptop is extremely lightweight to where I can carry it with one hand. The screen is no overly huge either. I like it. I believe it's a 15" screen. It has several memory card slots, I'm still trying to figure out all of them, but I know for sure it has a SD slot. It also had 4 usb ports. I don't know what I'll do with 4 usb ports but I'm glad I have them all. It came with a DVD/CD burner. This laptop was made for use at work, and I can see why, it's user friendly, has several memory slots, several usb ports, perfect sized screen and extremely lightweight. Not to mention there is also space to add an extra battery which to my undersatnding will give it up to 8 hours of battery life. Not bad. I never used to like the mouse pads on laptop.. actually...
...

My husbad and I had been shopping for a laptop for him for some time. We shopped around at different stores and then we went to Staples and found our Acer. I told him he could have his pick and he chose the acer because it had 120 g hard drive and a 14 inch screen. He put his fingers on the key board and it was a nice fit. The downfall was that it had Windows Vista as the operating system. My husband does not like Vista. We asked the clerk about putting sometihing different on it but it would cost us extra to buy it and have it put on professionally. We decided to go with the computer as is. We got it home and was very happy with our choice. The laptop was able to be connected to our big screen Tv so we could watch movies from the laptop to the Tv. With our DSL the Acer laptop made the internet fly and the more you did the faster the internet worked. Movies have great resolution and the acer automatically will adjust to any size screen.
...

I love this computer. I love that I was able to choose the color and exactly how my computer was made. I got to put what I wanted on it and then what I did not want or need I did not need I just did not add it. I would tell anyone who wanted to get this computer I would recommend but I would say be aware it can be a little bulky and also its kind of hard to find a case for this computer only because I did choose such a bigger screen its a 15 inch screen so its very wide. Overall I would say that this is a really good computer. I like that it offeres allot of space on the hard drive and also I would say to be careful of the hard drive because it can go bad mine did about three months after I bought the computer also the hinge on the top can be quite wiggly. almost like it is loose but it was always that way so I belive thats just how it was made. Also the only other thing I did not like is the flat finish on the top of the laptop and the non glare screen.
...

I have been buying from dell for many years now. This is the fifth computer I have bought from them. I have bought two desktops for other people. They love their dells also. They both still have their computer and they are still working great.

I have bought one desktop and two laptops for myself over the years. I loved my desktop. I never had any problems with it. I sold it to a friend for the money to buy a laptop. The laptop I had was also great. I did have problems with the power cord and I had to replace it twice. I decided to sell that laptop so I could get the laptop I have now. I wanted to have windows vista. I do like this laptop also. I also have had problems with the power cord and the battery. I have replaced them both once. I also have over heating issues. The computer will get too hot and just shut off. I have gotten a cooler fan for it and things are going good now.

I believe these are issues that are small in size and were easy to fit. ...
...

When I originally made the decision to go back to school, I wasn't thinking about getting a new computer. My husband and I own 3 other desktop computers, what more could I need? It was the hubby that came to me with the suggestion to look for a laptop and its not like I was averse to the idea! I'd wanted a laptop for years but just couldn't justify the purchase. Now that I'd basically been given the thumbs up, I started to check around. Having worked at a well known electronics store for three years, I had some idea of what I wanted and what I didn't. The biggest stumbling block, however, was price. If I'd had my way, I would have spent $2000 on the biggest, baddest gaming laptop I could find. Since this was to be primarily for school, however, the gamer in me had to be confined to the back seat.

A friend of ours had ordered his laptop from Dell so I decided to give their website a try. I realized rather quickly that building my own laptop from scratch was still going...
...

I purchased my laptop for college and now use it at work. This is a very versitle item--a bit heavy, but with a good quality laptop bag, can be taken anywhere. I have even flown with it.

There are numerous programs on this computer--lots of games, office products like Word and Publisher and a built in dvd player with media features I have never used.

I can access the internet anywhere--there is a built in wireless thing that enables me to just click on internet explorer anywhere wireless internet is available--once I figured it out, it was fairly easy to use.

There are several ports on both sides of the computer and it has a long-lasting battery as well. The laptop is very stylish and I have received many comments on how large the screen is for a laptop. The screen is also very bright and shows colors clearly. It has great sound as well.

I would recommend this product to anyone who likes gadgets and media functions on a computer. If you have vision problems, the screen is...
...

I love computers and when it comes to picking them out I am extremly picky. I love the idea of having it all when it comes to laptops. It took me three hours to find this one.

Let me start by saying I love HP now !!! Alot of the other laptops I looked at were great on the specifications big hard drive lots of memory wonderful processor but they go really cheap on the video card. which in my opinion is very important. Even if your not a gamer there are those times when you want to play a game or even let someone else play a game. Me i play the sims on occassions. So a Good video card is important

I have had this laptop for about 2 weeks. and i have put it through it's paces and it has passed with flying colors. On first glance it's huge. great desktop replacement the Screen is a 17inch with webcam and mic built in. makes watching movies a pleasure. and it's easy to see the screen without having to strain your eyes. The hard drive has a nice amount of space.

mind you it is on the heavy size....
...

I was definitely looking for a durable and dependable laptop after my last one ended up breaking on me after only two years. I was drawn to the Tosiba laptop based on its price, and I have not been disappointed. I have found that my laptop offers great battery ife, and definitely meets all of my needs. Being a college student, I am constantly on my laptop, and it gets transported around on a frequent basis. I am glad it has held up over the past year. I still have tons of memory left on the computer, so if you are looking at a laptop that needs to have enough storage, it will definitely work for the average student. I am glad that I went with the Toshiba brand as well, they have helped me work through problems, and their products seem to have good life to them and hold up well. The laptop runs quietly, and is fast in all of its processes. It is of average size and weight, and definitely a great computer for the bargain hunter!
...

For anyone looking for a laptop. You do not want to purchase a Dell. They are nice feeling computers, however, the ventilation system is on the underneath of the laptop. I thought they called it a laptop, because you used it on your lap. Wrong answer with that one. If you do not have a cooling pad for it to help with the ventialation then it is going to overheat. Mine finally overheated and fried the motherboard. When I contacted Dell, to sum it up. I was out of luck. They stated I abused the computer and the damages were my fault. Needless to say, I did not 'abuse' the laptop I used it the way I use my Gateway and my HP, and theirs fried, my others do not get as hot as that one did. I have discussed with other co-workers and friends who have various varieties of Dell laptops, they state they have the same problem. Don't waste your money. Perhaps Dell will get with it and realize that they need to rethink their laptop designs.
...

Coming from a troubled Nvidia 8600M GT MacBook Pro - let me say that I was very skeptical buying another Apple Laptop with nVidia chip in it.

However, one weekend I decided to visit the nearest Apple Retail Store and check out the newly released models. My decision was mostly influenced by the reduced prices and increased battery life.

After some debating over buying the older model for same price or getting the latest one we settled on the newest mid end $1999 model with 2 GPUs. As is common I got a very nice resale price for my older MacBook Pro as it had AppleCare.

This generation is an all around improvement over the past generation unless you happen to be using ExpressCard on 15" model that is. In our case we never used the ExpressCard after attempting to use a eSATA card that did not work really well. And we have a few SD Cards that we figure we can easily use.

So on to the specific improvements over its predecessor -
1) Battery Life - I was very doubtful that the battery would...
...

We bought our new Dell laptop a couple of months ago when our previous laptop died on us. My husband knows much more about the workings of a computer (and the computer lingo), so I asked him to do most of the technical research. We found an awesome deal for a pretty much "fully loaded" computer, according to his calculations.

Although I miss our Microsoft Office package, this computer comes already equipped with a spreadsheet and a word processor that almost exactly mimic the Microsoft Word and Excel packages. I was very pleased with this.

I love the fact that this computer is very lightweight. Being a laptop, we carry it where we need it throughout our home (kitchen for recipes, family room for printing purposes and to watch TV, our favorite chair to relax awhile, etc.). It is very easy to unplug from the power source and roam around as needed. My arms/legs don't get tired carrying and/or holding it.

My one issue with the computer (and I'm sure I'll get the hang of this) is...
...

My employer gave us these, so I really wouldn't have tried it otherwise. I'm so glad I did though. The mac starts up very quickly, I am online practically instantly. it doesn't keep asking me if i'm sure i want to shut down it just does. It works intuitively and is very simple once you get the hang of everything being on the opposite side. And you'll never miss that extra mouse button, trust me. The best thing is that I don't have any trouble with viruses and adware like I did with a PC.
...

l4rry0 says "The Latitude D600 is alright, but is slow and can overheat." about Dell Latitude D600

Well, last year, I bought the Dell D600 from an electronic store around my house, I looked at the reviews online and found it was fair to try it. So, now, I have learned to like it, but there are also some cons that I would love to discuss. First, of all, the Latitude D600 can get hot on summer days. It will then start to lag, and eventually freeze. I hate this. But it is lightweight and is great for the student on the go. Anyways, the laptop is also very cheap in quality. The keys will later come loose and you will find yourself buying another keypad for the laptop. The battery also does not last very long without charging. However, I would say that the Latitude D600 is one of the best Dell laptops I've purchased, its cheap, though not really dependable. The laptop is a nice shade of gray and is aesthetically nice and good looking. I am looking forward to buying more Dell laptops, as they to me are awesome. Thanks!
...

snowbird1819 says "Dell Latitude D630 - Power Horse" about Dell Latitude D630

I am a fan of the Dell Latitude series, since the time I got my first personal and then business laptop. After doing my research on different laptops, I realized I found all the things I needed in a Dell.

To write a few things about it, I will start with the weight of the laptop, for someone who travels on a regular basis is perfect for me and several hundreds of people I know. The flexibility of being able to configure the system according to the needs of your work criteria, is another additional bonus. Upgrading parts like RAM, hard drive etc. to it's maximum capacity and the ease of doing these tasks, makes it even more versatile.

The excellent customer support provided with the purchase of a Dell Laptop, surpasses most of the ohter vendors. If you need a part replacement, it is easy to order and have it repalced or being able to repalce it by yourself with illustrated instructions is simple enough for a non-techie individual.

I strongly recommend any one to purchase a Dell and be happy...
...

I am on the go alot and watch movies and videos on my laptop and this is the computer for you. With its wide very clear screen that delivers crisp clear quality and Harman/Kardon speakers that deliver a fantastic sound and great acostics. It almost feels like your own mini movie theatre. It also very wonderful if you would like to create home movies. The software is very and simple to use. I absolutely love this laptop and recommend it to everyone I know. It also has a 3.5 hour battery charge that is excellent. I don't have to worry about being plugged in all the time. The 300 gb Hard drive is plenty of space to save videos, movies, pictures, and musice. This laptop comes with the Toshiba Movie Maker which allows you turn your home videos into mini movies which you can burn onto a dvd using the built-in DVD/CD burner. Also, has plenty of USB ports for various devices and an SD slot for media cards.
...
