williaminman66 says "This is the best desktop ive ever owned" about Compaq SR5518F desktop computer

I just purchased this compaq a month ago-and I absolutely love it. I had a dell before, and as far as I am concerned-my Dell doesnt even hold a candle.

Its extremely fast (which is important to me, I am online alot and nothing makes me pull my hair out faster than watching some agonizing page slowly appear!) My Compaq seems to load the page instantly-it just all appears at once instead of piece by piece.

The only bad thing I can say about it, is that it didnt come with enough Ram. I only have 256k, and for this day and age, it needs to be at least twice that. But Ram comes cheap, and an upgrade of Ram, would make this the perfect computer.

I will probably always stay loyal to Compaq now-just based on this one desktop. I would recomend this model to anyone--its reasonably priced, user friendly, and fast as lightning.

This is a good computer for first timers or for people like me that basically live on the internet.
...

I love my Dell computer. I was able to go online and pick out the exact components I wanted and have it specially made for me. The shipping was fantastic and the ease of financing was excellent as well. After I learned to fi maintain it myself it has been the best computer I've ever had.

Although I've run into a few minor snags over the last 4 years, it has been a trooper. I've been able to fix all the problems I had over the years myself and with the help of IT friends. Being able to learn to fix it myself is fantastic since Dell charges you for evena diagnostic of your problem unless you purchase some outrageous extra warranty. So even if you have a very simple problem with a very simple fix that almost anybody working for Dell could tell you within a few minutes, instead they choose to push you around an automated phone system for long periods of time and then ultimately tell you that they won't even discuss possible solutions unless you pay them $60.

That hardly seemed...
...

I bought this computer in October of 2002, by the end of November 2002 the power supply went out on it. I got that repaired and havent had a problem with the power supply unit since. Another problem I had was the Cd-writer/dvd-rom combo drive stoped functioning in December 2003. I had that replaced under the service plan and some time later the other one stoped funtioning and the second cd-rom drive stopped functioning.

This was all before I took the computer on the Internet. After I took the computer online I experienced problems that were easily fixed with the computers built in recovery system that is located on a hard drive partition. But than in mid 2009 the computer wouldnt boot into windows. I did a few recoverys and that did not fix the problem so I ordered The system recovery cd-roms to restore the operating system and recovery partition(which must have been currupted). I got the recovery cd-roms and did a recovery that had errors installing but still booted into windows. ...
...

I currently purchased a Emachine complete desktop with a 17"
monitor. I am completely satisfied with this product! It comes with Windows XP which is very family friendly and easy to use. It never ever has froze on me like Windows Vista has froze on a couple people that I know. I would not recomment Windows Vista to anyone. But, going back to my emachine computer, the 17" screen comes in so crisp and clear! I watch tons of videos daily and they come in crystal clear, especially when you watch them in HD. I available memory is also amazing with this product. I am a singer songwriter and I have tons of song files that I store onto my computer and I still have lots of memory left over. The best thing I like about this computer is that it comes with Emachine games. You get a free scription for so many plays for each game. The games are awesome and family friendly :). I would recommend this computer to anyone due to its friendlyness and running ability. But, there is only one dislike, and that...
...

adrenaline09 says "Acer M420, large and pretty but crashes too often" about Acer M420 desktop computer

Acer M420 comes with Edifier speakers and a large, wide screen. At first glance and sweet-taking from a sales rep it is very easy to fall into thinking that this is the computer for you. The sound is adequately nice, rating near an eight, and the visual is very nice as well. Although, if I had taken a little longer to research other desktops, I would not have bought this brand.

Acer is very low quality compared to other desktop brands, often crashing when there are windows open and even if there are no viruses. I scan my computer often with Rogers supplied software protection and come up empty every time. Acer is not Privacy oriented either, and to clear windows cache in an actual manner you must go through alot of trouble. There are many hidden privacy files that you don't know about, which is not fair to a customer. There are also many desktop.ini files that are invisible and almost always inaccessable to you. They are never editable and although other companys use .ini (google .ini files),...
...

I bought a Sony Vaio in 2004. I did not know alot about computers at the time. The Sony came with alot of Software already loaded and ready to go. As a new user I liked this option.

I don't like the fact that it has only 245m of ram. It has space for 4 times this amount but I had to add it myself. It has 2 hard drives and the operating one(c) has the lowest amount of space. Only 14GB. Drive D has 77GB. So not much ram or hard drive space, but like I said i was new at this.

On the upside. I have not had any maintenace problems in the 5 years that I have used this computer. It is so easy to use and is compatible with most other devices.

I do alot of work online such as uploading pictures. Needles to say I did not haave enough working ram and had to add more. The harddrive is not big enough to hold very many programs. I have deleted most of the ones that were preloaded and added the ones i need.

If I were to buy a computer tody I would not purchase a Sony Vaio. There are so many out...
...

I bought my acer aspire a year ago, with my income ta return. This was my first time using an acer. I couldnt find much about it, but I decided to give it a try. When I got it home and hooked it up, i was pleansantly surprised to find out how easy it was to install, and how fast it runs. I immediately hooked up the internet and started my usual surfing. there were no glitches in the acer aspire, and it zipped through all my programs. I used it for both personal and professional use. I work from my home, so my computer is an intricate part of my business. I store all my files in it, plus I am also able to play games as well as work at the same time. It is fast enough to do both. I would recommend this computer to all my clients, family memebers, and business associates. The only downfall I found was the price. It was a little pricey, but I was willing to pay the price for a machine that works as well as the acer.
...

I love gaming. I started on an Atari when I was a little girl and I was hooked. Even now, several years and kids later, I get a rush from playing games.

This last summer I went to my ex-husband's house for the first time in 8 years. He has the most awesome computer for gaming. With 4GB RAM, Nvidia Creative Sound Blaster Audigy sound card with surround sound, and GeForce 9600 GT video card I was as close as I have ever been to being inside a game. I felt like I was an actually part of the game and the games ran as smooth as silk.

I found out later that Iliff Computer center will custom build a computer to anyone's specifications to accomodate any need they may have. The computer he got was exactly what he asked for - all the way down to the case itself, which is an awesome design, looking like an alien that lights up. So now, I'm ordering my own computer that will play games and have an awesome graphics program so that I can illustrate my own novels some day.

HP's $630 Pavilion p6130y is a relatively competent, attractive PC, but scrappier competition with better features make this Pavilion look slow and overpriced. HP stands on more solid customer service footing than some other vendors thanks to its established online support, but that's really the only saving grace for this desktop.

The Pavilion p6130y looks almost identical to the less expensive . The glossy black case is essentially universal among retail systems these days, so we can't say the Pavilion stands out visually, but it also has some inviting accents, such as a soft-blue LED-lit power button and a sliding panel on the face of the system that conceals the media card reader and front USB 2.0 and audio ports. You could put this system anywhere without feeling ashamed by its appearance.

big leap, based on our performance and power efficiency tests), the HP can only counteract the discrete graphics card in the Asus with an extra 2GB of system RAM. Extra memory can be useful, but even...
...

I am quite happy with my Compaq Presario. I honestly prefer Hewlett Packard but I couldn't afford one. This PC suits my needs. I like to surf the internet, play games, check and write emails so I don't need a real expensive computer. My previous computer was an HP and I really did love it. This one is some slower but, as I said, it does meet my needs. It enables me to stay in touch with my family and friends through email and I enjoy getting pictures of my children and my grandchildren. As I am living on Social Security and a very small pension, my computer and television are my main sources of entertainment. I would really be unhappy if I didn't have a computer. I love to play games, read jokes, look up various health issues and, mostly, stay in touch with family and friends. I only have one compact disc drive and would prefer to have two. In time I hope to get a newer, faster computer.
...

Dread5 says "Fabulous, Strong Cutting Edge Technology" about Apple iMAC desktop computer

We awarded Apple an Editors' Choice for its new $1,699 , largely because its 27-inch screen dwarfs its competition in that price range. So what to make of Apple's new lower-end iMac? At $1,199, its 21.5-inch screen is hardly the size leader for its price, and without a touch screen or a Blu-ray drive, it's missing some of the features common to midrange Windows all-in-ones. Fortunately, Apple hasn't cast its most affordable iMac as a home entertainment hub. This is a computer, and a fast one. If screen size or digital entertainment are priorities we'd look elsewhere, but for anyone looking for a productivity-oriented all-in-one at a reasonable price, we recommend the iMac without hesitation.

Acer's illustrates the iMac's screen size value challenge. Acer's Windows 7-based all-in-one has a 23-inch, 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution screen, and currently sells for $899. The Acer has many shortcomings next to the iMac, including its design and comparatively slow performance, but because consumers...
...

My dad bought the eMachines that we are currently using a few years back. Don't know exactly how long ago. We used to have a windows xp and it was ok. We didn't have many problems with it. The eMachines are better. In my opinion. They run faster and have more features. I use it for several hours everyday. I don't really have any trouble with it other than it freezing up occassionally but that's pretty much it. I like that it has more programs and such to choose from and that it has more memory than our old computer had. The things I do most often on our computer are photos. I take alot of pictures. Hundreds every 2 months or so. So it does good with storing them and organizing them. My mom mainly plays games on it. My dad only uses it for emailing purposes and the occasional research. I use it for, like I said, photos, research, email, networking, etc......... I also from time to time use the burner on it as well to burn my pictures to a dvd. It does a good job overall.
...

I have grown up using a PC all my life and must say it is just plain simpler than a Mac. In a PC, everything is organized convieniently and easy to find what you are looking for. Plus Microsoft Office provides you with the perfect tools for school projects, buisness presentations, and recreational activities. With a PC, you can do much more than the Mac and also save a lot more money doing so. So why buy a Mac and spend more for less when you can save and get more by buying a PC?
...

I bought my iMac new from an accredited reseller in Fort Wayne Indiana. I keep it running 24 hours a day 7 days a week. This machine has never let me down. I have been able to install Windows XP via Apple's Boot Camp software, then I purchased Parallels which allows me to run both operating systems side by side. I use the Mac side for all of my personal needs and the Windows side for certain business applications that require the windows operating system.

Upgrades to the Macintosh operating system are as easy as pie, simply check the control panel for important software updates and you are good to go. Adding additional RAM to the iMac was also a very easy task and the RAM was interchangeable with my laptop computer.

Visitors are "wowed" by the ease of use of this machine and often state that they wish they had purchase a similar Apple Computer.

I purchased this Dell Inspiron in June 2009 with Vista Home Premium installed. I've always owned HP/compaq computers and they were good, but still not quite what I wanted in a computer. This Dell is great! It's simple to run, it has lots of usb ports so I can plug in many things at once and it doesn't slow it down. There are ports both in the front of the tower and the back. There is a standard port on the back so older model items can still be used or you can purchase a usb adaptor. It runs so quiet that sometimes I have to check to be sure the light is on! lol My old computers were loud and caused my ears to ring. The images are always clear. The sound quality is very very good.
...

noodles2008 says "has a lot to offer" about Dell Studio 540 desktop computer

This computer is almost a year old and has been almost trouble free. When I first got it in December there was a slight glitch in the operating system, but a month later Dell sent out a cd to fix it. I didn't think I would like Vista but I don't even remember XP. The tower size is compact and it has usb ports and media card slots on the front of the tower. No more moving the tower to get to the back to connect. The only real problem I have is I got a 64bit processor and most sites do not support this operation, but I do have the option to use a 32 bit by pulling up the program site. I did get alot of extra memory and with all of the computer games, pictures, and recipes I am still below 50% capacity filled. With the front slots it is super easy to download pictures and other files. With the media slots it is so easy to download pictures that I no longer need my photosmart copier, I can go to a cheaper model. All in all I have been very pleased with this purchase
...

I describe this Product in one sentence as reliable. I have used it for years it as never given me any problems. This desktop is good for beginers the only down fall is that it don't have a lot of ram or hard drive space so it can become a lil skow some time.but it is again very reliably and it has never broken down on me. What I most is that when I ran out of memory it had a slot where I was able to add a new hard drive in. An other thing is that it has great graphics and upgrading is no problem whatsoever. I had just stared to do music and it stood the test, I was recording and creating and just overall getting the best out of my media card. This computer has benifit me with music, video, fast downloads, school, and much much more.
...
