This is about my e-machine. This is the second one I have owned. I bought both of them at walmart. The mother board is easily hit with viruses. But if you cant afford a name brand computer I would suggest an emachine to anyone. My 1st one lasted 3 yrs and this one is going on 1st year. I can burn music or anything properly. It is an easy set-up and very easy to maintain. I am not great on computers but it has walk-thrus for people new to computer. It has easy access to your files, internet and music.
...

I purchased the Dell Inspiron 530 Desktop computer for my husband for a gift. It came with a large screen I believe it's 22 inches. The monitor is flat and on a stand it also included speakers. There is an area where u can hook up USB's and Media Cards it is coventenly in the frount of the computer under the ROM. It runs on Vista. The key board is very nice and came with a wrist rest to help with good body mechanics. The price at the time was cheap for what I could afford and was a good deal at the large retail store. I purchased more RAM to go into the computer instead of two my husband wanted four. He is an internet gamer and four would be perfect for him. After attempting to add the RAM to the computer we found that it was only for 3RAM not four. He still can game but not with all full graphics. Vista is hard to use and has many pop ups. The tower is noisy when the fan is on, but that is somewhat common with computers. The ROM is not a rewritter but works well. ...
...

About a year ago, my mom bought an Apple IMac desktop for the family room to replace a broken down PC, that was just falling apart essentially. I am completly computer impaired, and have a hard time figuring out just about anything on a computer, but i have to say that thos desktop is pretty user friendly, and has some cool programs that it comes with, mainly the recording and mixing program Garageband. The main issues are minimal though, lack of games etc.

As a musician, i was kind of stoked about the recording program Garageband being included on the Mac, and it's actually better than alot of the recording programs i've used before, though the mac's mic is all that great, it serves it's purpose. I've used it to record and overdubs tracks by myself, which is pretty fun considering glitches with other recording software like Audacity, which has alot of lag issues, and Mixcraft which has sound issues, garageband works much better.

The main downside is that there are far less games that...
...

I bought my Dell Xps 410 desktop pc back in 2005-2006. I use both years because my wife bought it for me for Christmas. I already had a brand mew flat panel screen, keyboard and mouse, and Logitech's 2nd finest Z-5300 PC speaker system. So all I bought at the time was the CPU. And here I am today, about 3 to 4 years later, and it still working like a charm. Of course I have upgraded some components since them; I upgraded the RAM to 4GB, the graphics card to DDR2 512MB NVIDIA graphics ( Which hopefully in the near future, I will upgrade that even to a 1GB graphics card.) and I also upgraded the hard drive to 320GB 7200 RPM hard drive. I even replaced my Logitech's Z-5300 spreakers with their #1 speaker system, the Logitech Z-5500 Speaker System. Man this speaker system is the best. But back to my wonderful XPS 410. This computer really rocks still, even after all this time. It is solid performing, extremely fast, quiet! I had been contemplating about even buying a newer...
...

I must say that my new HP TouchSmart IQ500 series PC is the best I have ever used. It doesn't have a tower so it doesn't take up much space. The unit is all built into the monitor and is very compact. I love it! My last computer was a well known brand, but it did not perform as well as the HP TouchSmart. The HP is very quick to load. Takes only a few seconds to come on and once you are online it switches between pages really fast. It has a huge 22 inch screen and it is a TouchSmart which you use by touching the screen with your finger to guide the cursor and also to pull up pages, however if you prefer you can use the wireless keyboard and mouse that came with the package. This PC has a built in mic and webcam which makes it so easy to use. It is the easiest PC ever to connect to the modem and printer. I purchased this HP TouchScreen after seeing everything it has to offer and haved loved every feature about it, especially the TouchSmart bar on the desktop...
...

My Dell Dimension E310 is always running smoothly, unless of course one of my children get on it and obtain a virus. This is very upsetting. I should be the only one to be on the computer; because I believe in taking good care of my Dell Dimension E310. It is one of the best computers in the world. I would highly recommend this computer to anyone I would come across. It is fast, reliable and most importantly....turns on in a second. It obviously is the best computer for anyone in this world to choose. You can add so many features to this computer; and it will take them without problem Unless of course you have children who will just tear it up. I must say though, that no computer is child proof. I wish they would make one. Maybe I should contact Dell and ask them to make a child proof computer so then I could rest easy and know that my Dell is not being taken over by childrnn who just love to go on YouTUbe.
...

I currently have a HP Pavilion Elite 9500 desktop computer with a 22" lcd screen that rotates 90 degrees clockwise. I believe for the 1400.00 paid for the cpu monitor and printer, scanner, copier it is an above averge deal. The speed of the processor is really nice. It zips right along. With over 600 giga bytes of storage available it makes for a great middle of the road. Thier are plenty of various ports to connect to your hearts desire. For gaming purposes it is a solid performer, however hard core gamers playing the latest intensive games may want to look beyond this model. I am definitely sold on the Hp Pavillion Elite 9500 because it gives you a well rounded package that will meet "most" peoples needs for gaming, tv viewing, email, blogging, any social networking, downloading whatever interest you or uploading various files. It does come preloaded with some great pictures for the desktop or as screen savers. The resolution is wonderful on the pictures. You have great versatility in...
...

The 24" iMac is a beauty of a desktop. Its sleek design and aluminum accents make it a feast for the eyes. However, it is one powerful system. I originally purchased mine as a replacement for my broken PC. I had been wanting to make the switch to Mac for quite some time. I will never go back now.

I use the iMac for Photoshop and Graphics work mainly but it also stores my music as well. I am completely in love with this system. The only thing I wish I could change would be to have a matte screen instead of a glossy. I have found it difficult to correctly calibrate the monitor. With that said, I still get glorious results as long as watch my color management. The screen is so much brighter than a regular screen so you might need to adjust down for that. I also added additional RAM to my system. The dual core processors have run smoothly and efficiently. I do wish they would have given it more USB ports. I use a graphics tablet and several other devices. I have...
...

the Apple iMac 24 inch desktop computer is perfect for students with tight room space given the fact that you don't have to have a separate CPU unit. It clearly was designed to have a broad range of uses. From the fun of having a built in mic and camera for Internet applications. Apple makes good on its promise of keeping its sleek appearance with six USB ports wireless mouse in one of the best feature the leopard operating system included. If you still like your Windows applications you can now get built into your computer windows via the VMware. the best thing about the Mac though is the fact that to this day there has not been a single virus so you don't have to pay $200 or more yearly for virus software's. Now some might say but why get a Mac that's $2000 when I can get a PC for $500? The answer is is that you dearly will spend well over $2000 when you figure in the cost of the operating system the cost of virus protection systems cost of speakers microphones cameras and additional...
...

I never thought a computer that cost less than $500 could ever be this good. I have over 130 gb of space, which is way more than I would have expected.
romseer says "This Dell is the best computer I've ever purchased." about Dell vostro 420 desktop computer

Approximately two months ago I purchased a Vostro 420 tower to use for my home based business. I got the Dell Vostro 420 with an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 (3.0GHz, 12L2Cache, 1333FSB) with 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz - 4DIMMs and a 1TB Serial ATA Hard Drive. If there were an award for speed for a computer (like there is for cars, 1997 the fastest speed achieved by a vehicle on land. The current record holder is ThrustSSC , which has achieved 763 mph, or bit less than 1228 km/h over one mile, breaking the sound barrier. ) then I think my Dell Vostro 420 might be in the running. *grinnnnnn* My computer technician advised me (as he was setting it up) that it was hands down the fastest computer he had ever had the opportunity to work on. So here I am, two months later with all kinds of extra software downloaded on this baby and it still moves like its on high octane rocket fuel. I highly recommend Dell (I've made the mistake of trying another brand on my previous...
...

mattnlizjones says "Completely died after a little more than a year" about hp HP Desktop desktop computer

I was pretty disappointed that our HP Destop which we bought brand new at Best Buy completely died after a little more than one year. Of course since it was just over one year they wouldn't do anything about it and said the warranty was up, etc, etc. So I guess the motherboard just completely bit the dust, we were able to salvage the hard drive.

I have not been impressed with the HP computers, a friend also had one that was constantly having problems. On the other hand we have a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop that we've had for six years and is still working just fine! So you have to wonder about Hewlett Packard.

Anybody else had similar bad experiences with HP computers? I wonder if we just got a bad one or if HP just skimps when it comes to the construction of their computers.
...

rosiern says "64 Bit Nightmare" about Dell XPS 400

Two months ago, I received my third Dell desk top computer. It's a XPS Studio 420. I custom ordered it, including making it a 64 bit for better graphics. Big mistake! Almost every program I have downloaded, has turned out to not be compatible wth 64 bit. It would be helpful if programs would have that fact listed with the download requirements. Very few state they only work with 32 bit...for now. That's irritating enough, but the program causes my computer to malfunction, which results with me online with tech support for a couple of hours. They have to take control of my computer, to rid my computer of the offending program. Plus, they always make other changes to my computer.

In all probability within the next two years, most if not all, new computers will come with 64 bit. Hopefully by then, most programs will be compatible with it. The grapics are better than on 32 bit computers. I wish I had known about the compatibility issues prior to purchasing this computer. Because of the frequent aggravation...
...

msmolly1 says "Is there anything out there besides an Apple iMac????" about Apple iMac 24" Desktop Computer

I have been a PC user for the past 30 years, starting with dos!!!! After my daughter purchase a mac pro for college, I was surprised with what she could do and with such ease. I was tired of having viruses and slow working "high speed" internet, and my daughter said, lets go to Apple! Within 30 minutes I was the new owner of a Apple iMac 24" and just love it! I look forward to getting on the internet in the morning with my coffee and never fear viruses anymore! Technical support is also a dream! The most friendly, tech sound people I have ever dealt with! We then went out and purchased a mac book for my husband who was using my daughters old pc laptop, which then had 57 attached viruses! He was thrilled to get it, and it hasn't left his side! He takes it everywhere, Starbucks, Panera's etc. We are also Skype users, and with a Mac it is awesome! I have not looked back since buying my iMac, and only regret that I didn't do it sooner! Thank You
...
