usnnc says "My Traveling File Cabinet" about Verbatim Store 'n' Go (1 GB) USB 2.0 Flash Drive (95138)

Back in 2004, I returned to my teaching position at a technical college. Attached to my key ring was a $30 (now available for $10) "Store 'n' Go" USB flash drive. That meant that I could put all of my lectures, supplemental material, exams, class roles, grades, and dozens of other files in one convenient place. The only requirement was that I remember where I put my keys (always a problem!). The one thing I don't like about this portable storage unit is that my early version had a cap over the USB connector, which I lost about a week after I put it to use. I'm always worried about causing damage to the unit. The newer versions have a retractable USB "male" connector. Ingenious!Situation 1: I hated carrying 3.5 'floppies' from my home computer, to my office, the library and the academic help room for the tutors. I can't tell you how often the floppies degraded before I could get them to the next computer. The ones I made available for the students - I always got complaints that the...

I was looking for a simple 4 port USB hub for the many cables I needed to hook up. I looked at a few in the store, but when I saw this one I had to purcase it. It was too cute and too fun! It's called a UFO, and that's just what it looks like. It's a little round spaceship shaped object, with a red dome (it comes in 4 colors). The ports are around the edges. What makes it so fun is the little light at the top of the dome. Once the UFO is plugged in, the little light glows, changing colors! It's a constant light show as long as it's plugged in. There is no power supply needed. At the bottom of the UFO is a short 1" cable with USB. Just untuck it, and plug it into one port. Now you've turned 1 port into 4! It's so cute, my husband talks of going out and getting a 2nd one for himself! The price was under...

It’s finally spring… late spring. Springtime brings showers. Late springtime brings thunderstorms. With thunderstorms come power disruptions. I was sitting dumb and happy thinking I won’t have any problems, I have a UPS attached to my PC. — — Wrong! First I saw the lights dim, and then I saw my PC screen go black and hear the PC start to reboot! Not a good thing. Fortunately the worst that happened was that the PC rebooted. It could have been a lot worse with damage to anything from an external hard drive to my LCD monitor, to at worst, the PC itself! I now knew it was time to replace my 5 year old UPS! — After searching a few of the sites owned by the different UPS manufacturers, I came across the APC web site. On their site they have a configurator. This tool helps you determine the proper size for a UPS based on your requirements. Requirements include things like what kind of system you have, what kind of internal and external...

In the past, I have spent $75 bi-monthly for ink cartridges just for my home use and now I only spend $25. I absolutely love this new service offered by Walgreens. They are always very quick to service me eventhough they are a very busy location. If there is a problem with my cartridge they have notified me and educated me so that I take better care of my cartridge for the next refill. Unfortunately, as with any refill service, it is not guaranteed. So if for some reason the cartridge does not pass the tests that are fun before and after filling then I can recycle the cartridge and receive free prints in return. Not only is this a wonderful service but I never walk out empty handed. — ...

This is a nice power supply, mostly because it does what it's supposed to. It has a nice led power indicator right on the power supply itself. It has a rubber strap that wraps around the wires and the box to keep it tidy and compact when not in use.
Kingston's DataTraveler is an excellent and reliable thumb drive. I have had no problems transferring files between my PC and MAC work notebook. The only thing I have found (without any actual scientific timing tests), that it is considerably slower than some others I have used. It can take 30 minutes + to transfer 1 - 1.5 gigs of data to another computer, although it is a bit faster when you are copying to the thumb drive. — — I bought it due to it's low, special price at the time, and all things considered (especially the low price point, I am quite content with...
