I constantly have people ask me where I get my high fashion clothing. When I tell them that it is at JC Penney, they stare at me like I am speaking another language. For some reason, years and years of budget clothing without much style has branded the minds of most of the people I talk to into thinking that JC Penney is for old ladies or something.

Since introducting the Bisou Bisou line of clothing quite a few years ago now, I have become a very happy customer at JC Penney. I have designed clothing for years because I had a hard time finding high fashion clothing that fit me for a price I could afford.

BISOU BISOU has had many amazing high fashion designs for the urban minded fashionista at prices that are very affordable.

MOSSIMO shorts for juniors/women at Target.

These shorts are every bit as nice as the more expensive ones I have purchased in the past. The material is not to thin which gives them a nice shape. I am a twenty-something who does not want to dress like a teenager, but also does not want to have the look of a postal worker in uniform shorts; these are the answer. I feel classy, yet not too conservative. They can be dressed up or down.

I am a creature of comfort and I don't like wearing anything around the house that I have to pull, tug, or readjust. During the summer months, I practically live in solid knit shorts that are easy to wear, easy to launder, and fit comfortably. My current favorite shorts are the Champion C9 Basic Bermuda Shorts.

These shorts come in solid colors, like navy, black and blue. They are made of a comfortable interlock knit which is 88% cotton and 12% spandex for stretch. The shorts are as simple as you can get; straight legs, straight hem, and elastic waist. I purchased mine for about $17 at my local Target store, although I'm sure they are available at similar retailers.

These basic bermudas are perfect for lounging around the house, but they won't look shabby if you need to run a quick errand at the drug store. They hold their shape very well, and stand up to repeated washing. The shorts do tend to run a little big in the waist so even if they shrink a little, it won't be a...

These are not your grandma's elastic waist bermuda shorts (although she would likely enjoy owning a pair herself). Lee Comfort Waist Cassidy Bermuda Shorts are an updated version of an old classic. With a 10-inch inseam and a just-below-the-waist fit, I knew I was going to love these shorts the moment I saw them on the JCPenney.com website. The bermudas are made of cotton/spandex stretch twill that responds easily to every move you make. There are two front pockets and two back pockets so they are practical as well.

The best part of the jeans, for me, is the comfort elastic that is hidden behind the waistband. The covered elastic lies flat against the waistband and it hasn't shown any signs of twisting, bunching, or rolling.

OK so two weeks ago I ate too much at a family dinner. It was a stressful day as we were discussing my brother's divorce and the awfulness that goes along with that and I comforted myself with about 10 too many penne noodles. I had to unzip.

When I got up off of the couch to leave my brother's house I broke my zipper. I broke the zipper on my favorite shorts. The only pair of shorts that fits me well and look good and the accident left me with only one pair of shorts left. I looked all over for a replacement pair but found nothing. Have you ever tried to buy shorts at the end of August? It's hard to find anything but hoochie mama shorts in June so I knew my odds at finding conservative shorts in August were slim to none. I looked everywhere and even tried Ebay but could not replace the shorts.

So I checked on QVC.com and saw that the Denim & Company brand had their Modern Waist Stretch Shorts on sale for about $20. A bit pricey for me but I was desperate and ordered two...
