Xquizt says "Colorsilk does a good job for the price you pay." about Revlon Colorsilk Hair Color

Revlon Colorsilk was actually the first box-dye I ever bought, and I was pleased with the result I got for the price I paid.
I don't know about other colors, but I used the 'natural blue-black' color, and it turned out absolutely beautiful. As with all blue-black hair dyes, the blue tint faded after two to three shampoos. I found that the color itself was almost completely faded from my hair within two and a half weeks (5-6 shampoos). From what I could tell, the dye did not change the texture or 'behavior' of my hair at all, or cause split ends or dryness. I would definitely recommend this brand to someone who's looking to save a buck and still get a decent (although not-so-permanent) color job, or willing to re-dye their hair every month.
...

ptltooj says "L'OREAL Paris Excellence Creme keeps ends from darkening." about L'Oreal Excellence Creme Blonde Supreme

L'OREAL Paris Excellence Creme is the only hair dye I have found with triple protection. I have very short hair. The pre-color protective treatment allows me to dye new growth without darkening previously dyed hair.

I could never get and keep the right color when I went to the beauty college. (I'm frugal.) This product fits well in my budget. Now I can color my hair at home and be satisfied with the color every time. I don't even need my husband to check my crown for any missed spots because I can safely massage the color over all my head. I love the soft highlights and the soft texture my hair has after coloring..
...

This was my first attempt at home color in a very long time. I wasn't sure where to begin when choosing a product, so I ended up choosing this one because I heard that it conditions very well. I definitely agree with that statment, but that's about the only strong positive statement I can make. The color did not match according to the box (it was much darker). I guess one can say the color wasn't bad...it just wasn't what I was looking for. After a few days it had significantly washed out and lightened up, but after a week or two the color was mostly gone and quickly revealed my few gray hairs. It's a perfectly "fine" color, but not really great or worth raving about if you are looking for a permanent color.
...

leelee1311 says "I LOVE DARK & LOVELY HONEY BLONDE" about Softseen Carson Dark & Lovely

First of all let me tell you, I have tried all kinds of hair colors, because I want to try to go as blonde as I can. I have lost 271 pounds and I wanted to change my hairstyle and color. I have tried a few hair dyes and I was not happy at all. I will be SOUNDING OFF on them when I get a chance. But back to Dark and Lovely. Yes, You are LOVELY!!!!! I did my hair with the honey blonde with the lightner pack that came along with the box. I left the dye in my hair for more longer than you are supposed to. DONT DO!!! Follow the directions on the box or do what I did at your own risk. Well I left it on with a bag on my hair and my hair turned PLATNIUM. OMG I was SO HAPPY!!! That is what I wanted. I thought I was going to have to dye my hair all year long before I achieved the color I wanted. I thought I was also goin to have to get my hair stripped. But I didn't. YES my hair was dry but I did a deep conditioning treatment and it came out as soft as ever. I get so many compliments on my hair.
...

BUStudent says "I love the shine you get from this product and the availability!" about Garnier Fructis Nutrisse Hair Color

I really like this product. I ran into a budget crunch and had to start dyeing my hair myself. Also, I feel like I have better control over the color at home versus explaining it to some hairdresser who doesn't get it perfect and charges $90. Anyway, this product runs $7 to $8 or so at Target, and they have it on sale about once a month. I started using it when I had trouble with a different line of Garnier products and the lady on their hotline recommended this one. She claims the formula is made so that it will have a shinier result. I'm 100% certain that she was right!

This product does not smell as strong as the three other hair dyes I tried before I turned on to this one. The color on the box is pretty much the color that you will get, I use the #93 Light Golden Blonde. Sometimes I use the slightly darker Cream Soda when I get tired of being such a light color. I also hilited my hair over the summer and this product did not react badly with the hilites. Nor have...
...

I hate to color my hair, no matter how much gray turns up.I am also very picky about chemically treating it, because it always seems to turn redder than the color on the box. Revlon Colorsilk seemed like a safe bet and I couldn't be happier with the results!

It wasn't overly harsh, didn't make my hair feel rough or dry, and the color was true. Usually the chemicals are very smelly, but Revlon Colorsilk was the nicest-scented I have tried. The conditioning treatment left my hair smelling great and feeling very silky.

The price was average, it was easy to find at a major department store, and the color is unlikely to be discontinued since Revlon is such a mainstay in cosmetics and haircare. I think I have found one I can rely on and use into my grayer years, and it saves a lot of money on salon visits!

Best of all, Revlon delivers consistent, reliable results. Once you have the technique down, it should be easy and quick to touch up new growth, and Colorsilk is never unpredictable....
...

I have always bought the chapest haircolor, whatever was on sale or the two dollar kind. My mother was with me recently and she told me to try the Garnier Nutrisse. I told her that i just bought the cheapest. She said just to try it and if I did not like it she would pay be back. I have to admit that I loved it. I even have highlights in my hair.I saw a girl at church that went from blonde to red. I just knew she had to have had it professionally done. I told her how great it looked and she said it was Garnier Frutisse.
...

You definetly get what you pay for in this hair coloring. For three dollars, it is a great deal, or so I thought. I was trying to go a few shades lighter on my hair. Not only did it strip my hair of any moisture, but it left my hair stringy and fried. I got so many split ends after using this product. And it smells terrible!!!! I usually like the smell of the amonia in hair coloring but I could not stand this one. The conditioner that came with the color was alos horendous. It did nothing to condition my hair and the smell lasted through 4 regular shampoos. I thought that maybe this was a fluke thing so I tried again after a couple weeks. I again was disappointed and out six dollars. It has been months and I still have not repaired the damage done by this product. I am very sad to report that eventhough it sounds like a great deal, it isn't worth how much money you'll spend in repairing your hair afterwards.
...

freedumb118 says "Bootyful hair color" about Garnier Fructis Sangria

I have always felt that at heart I was a natural red head. But many people aren't born with the colour hair they feel they are and hence they dye it. This hair dye is one of the only ones I have used that doesn't smell like ass. It has a fruity type of almost yummy smell. Not that I would eat it, but you know what I mean. I mean that if I had to choose a hair dye to eat it would most certainly, hands down, be this hair dye.

This color, Sangria, is a magical colour that brings life and auburn red goodness to my life. I adore this hair colour and what not. It really makes me feel like a natural red head and I love it. If I could wave a magic wand and make my hair this color for real then I would.

It is easy to work with too, pretty simple. Three easy steps that are like 1.2 and 3. I wish everyone could enjoy their hair colour as much as I do. It is truly love in a box. A box of dark auburn red colored love.
...

I have tried the rest and this is one of the best home coloring systems ,I have used. Also it is not terribly expensice and the entire process including restyling your hair can be done in about an hour. My hair is very thick and medium length,so maybe two...
...

I have used Clairol Natural Instincts over five times and it always leaves my hair feeling softer than before. It both feels and looks silker and shinier. Also, the color has always stayed pretty true to the picture on the box. The color does slowly fade with time, but it does not fade into strange color hues like some other brands of hair color do. I have not had any trouble with unwanted red or orange tones. The Clove (medium ASH brown) helps fight unwanted brassiness. However, I have tried other brands of ash browns and they gave my hair a weird greenish tint. Natural Instincts seemed to lean more toward a pretty golden brown. My blonde highlights that I initially covered did start to show through after about two weeks, but they did so in a very natural looking, pretty, shiny way. The application process of Clairol Natural Instincts was very quick and easy...12 minute total process. Plus, there was plenty of formula to saturate my entire head of hair evenly, and I have very thick,...
...

LoveisJoy says "Just 5 is Gentle Enough to Use on Chemically Relaxed Hair" about Just 5 Hair Color - Five Minute Colorant

The last time I changed my hair color was over 25 years ago when I was in my early 20s. I went through a "Dark Auburn" phase for a couple of years. After suffering really bad hair breakage, I finally accepted the fact that the permanent dye was much too harsh for my relaxed hair. Lately, I've begun to notice a handful of grays sprouting and I decided to see if I could find a gentle formula that would cover the gray without damaging my hair. I purchased a box of Just 5 - Five Minute Hair Colorant because it promised:

Semi-permanent color - One application lasts up to 6 weeks, until the gray grows back.

Five gentle minutes - Doesn't expose my hair to chemicals for 30 minutes

Color gray right after you relax your hair - No more waiting a week to color

Replenishing conditioners - The added conditioners go to work as you color

Gray coverage - Blends shades of my natural color so that the gray looks more like highlights

Doesn't alter natural color - It just kind of brightens...

...

Best home color system I have ever used! That is saying a lot because I have used everything under the sun. Really. I’ve been coloring my hair to cover up gray since I was in my mid 30's and over the years it hasn’t gotten any easier. I can hardly stay on top of it. The color of this product was true, very easy to apply, especially with the comb attachment. My hair was so soft, not dry or frizzy at all. Totally covered my few stubborn grays. I used the Medium Ash Brown and it was the perfect shade. Best part, it only took 10 minutes!! How cool is that? One disadvantage is unless you sport a length only slightly longer than Sinade O'Connor, your bathroom will be splattered with haircolor. Application was a snap, the color is beautiful even though it faded a little (I think they all do), and I love the conditioner. It made my hair very soft and full (I have a lot of hair but it's very fine, so most conditioners leave it limp and nasty-looking). I am recommending this to all...
...

After reading good reviews about Revlon Colorsilk had to try it. I've used L'oreal and Wella (the best, but I'm allergic!).. I have dark brown hair but it had too much red in it so I bought the medium ash brown. I had to use 2 boxes (never had to with other brands). My roots were grown out a bit so I used the color on the ends and then added it to the roots, but in total, I kept the color on for an hour. While the ends stayed the same dark brown, some of the red hues were toned down but still there. My roots are a disaster! They are reddish gold and I still see a grey hair or two. My hair felt really dry as I was conditioning it (with L'oreal I never experienced such dryness during the conditioning process), and after blowing it dry my hair was not as soft as it's been every other time. Overall, this product did not keep my hair any healthier, did not reach the color it promised, and my hair still smells awful from it. I do not recommend using this product unless it is...
...

I decided to dye my hair brown as I have been a dark, mousy blonde for too long. I am soooo happy with the results. My hair is soft, glossy and a beautiful dark brown. I used Feria 3D number 40 Espresso (seen in picture). The colour is a lovely brown and the conditioner has left is very shiney and smelling lovely. I would say that the colour did come out a little duller than I thought and a little lighter than on the box but this may be more to do with the fact that I used to have highlights or the fact that my hair is very long and I may have needed to use two boxes. All in all though I am very happy!
...

meganakk says "Feria ruined my hair" about L'Oreal Feria

I hated this product so much. I bought a color that looked beautiful on the box (golden brown) which is specially formulated for dark hair and it lifted a few parts of my hair to a nice greenish gray which I have been trying to dye over, but nothing will cover this. I've even had professionals try to fix it and the only advice they had was to cut it, which I was not going to do because the greenish gray color is in random sections and I would have to get a pixie cut to get rid of it. Feria ruined my hair and I will never ever use this brand ever.
...

Susie-34668 says "Sun-In Super Streaks highlighting gel doesn't work" about Sun-In Super Streaks highlighting gel

Sun-In Super Streaks Highlighting Gel is a total waste of money.

I purchased this product because I have my hair in a French twist at the back, and my brown hair, shows quicker than anywhere else.

I figured by using a gel, on the odd areas, it would be easier that using a full boxed product.

I read the instructions and all you have to do is wet your hair and then apply the gel with your fingers. You can make as few or as many streaks as you wish.

Wash your hands immediately and then either sit in the sun or dry your hair with a blow-dryer.

It states:

"Salon perfect results".

Well I didn't see any difference. It does say that the highlights will get lighter the more you do them. I tried once a week for a month before I finally gave up.

This product just didn't want to work with me or with my hair. My hair stayed the same color, and I had to go through putting this dripping gel onto my hair, and getting in a mess.

I can't remember how much I paid for it, but whatever it was, it cost...
...

Caprig says "Peppie Le Pew is a Perfect 10" about Clairol Perfect 10 Hair Color

I have been doing hair for years. I mean, gosh, I have been doing hair since I was in high school. I remember my best friend sobbing because I told her that I was going to make her look like Farrah Fawcet and I did. PERFECTLY. Apparently she did not like Farrah, and it never occured to her that I would actually succeed with her hair in doing what I promised.

One of the people whose hair I work on regularly is a male who has been prematurely gray for a long time. He needs to maintain a darker haircolor for the workplace since there is a bit of a bigotry against gray hair and any other *aging* factor in the workplace.

I have used just about every hair dye out there at one time or another from professional to over the counter. I have not been very impressed with many of the brown hair dyes. They are often too brassy or too red in their composition. His hair is on the ashy side which you would think would dye up nicely, but for some reason, no matter what brown we put on him,...
...
