Livience says "Bare Escentuals Starter Kit is a beauty must-buy!" about Bare Escentuals Starter Kit

Let me start by saying that I have tried all of the drugstore mineral makeups and they are nothing more than wannabes of Bare Escentual's original and far superior product.

When I first started seeing commercials for Bare Escentuals' mineral makeup on cable television, I thought it totally smacked of witchcraft and infomercialism. There was just no way that Bare Minerals could do what the commercials said it could.

But then I started seeing user reviews popping up all over the place, talking about how much people loved this product. And so I finally decided that I had to try it for myself.

I popped into Sephora and picked up the Bare Escentuals Starter Kit. It came with two foundations, a bronzer, a powder, three brushes, and an instructional DVD.

I watched the DVD and followed the instructions. I looked into a mirror and was blown away.

It really does work! My skin looked nearly flawless!

Goodbye, liquid foundations and tinted moisturizer. I've found the only foundation I'll ever need....
...

mbulington says "Great Little Pen" about Mary Kay Highlighting Pen

Being cursed with problem skin is a daily struggle! Trying to find products that cover up dark circles, acne scars and such has been an on going problem for me. The problem is not so much the coverage but making the coverage look natural. Finding something that is light weight but not light in coverage is not easy. So, when my Aunt started selling Mary Kay, I saw this pen and decided what the heck. I have used Mary Kay concealer in the past and like it, but it is not quite right for me. I have tried other highlighters before and always hated the "sparkly" look they left. Highlight is not the same a a silvery sparkle to me. This pen not only works wonders for dark under eye circles but it also works on any red spots or dark sports I may have at any given time. It is light weight - almost silky like and the coverage is awesome. I have an olive skin tone and am pleased with the way the color blends in.
...

mommaSCOOTSIE says "There is nothing about this product that I like." about Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Foundation

I have written many product reviews, and I have never had absolutely nothing nice to say. Until now. I hate this foundation. It is probably the worst I have ever used.

It claims to be made of 100% pure minerals. I don't know, but I never break out. This stuff made me break out terribly on my chin after the first use. It looks oily and nasty. Like a shiny mask. The colors are way darker than they look in the bottle. The foundation has a very bad odor. I would compare it to rubbing diarrhea on your face. It's scent is acidic and very chemical. I could smell my face for the entire day. It was disgusting.

Throughout the day it melted off pretty bad and left me with an extremely obvious makeup line. One it began to melt it caused a stinging sensation and a little bit of redness.

I used it for a total of maybe five times. Every single time I used it I woke up with pimples on my chin the following day.

I do not recommend this foundation.
...

mommaSCOOTSIE says "Bad Buy for Me. I used it once and then pitched it :(" about Cover Girl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation

In my opinion, this product was terrible. For the price I paid (it was $13.88) it was a huge disappointment. Unfortunately, I didn't just buy foundation. I also bought blush for the same price. I regretted it after one use.

In the ads it claims to "suspend over fine lines". They are supposed to be less apparent because the foundation doesn't soak into the wrinkles. I felt that it made them way more obvious. The color of it seemed off to me. I bought the lightest shade and it was too dark. I liked the package design, but I could see women with arthritis having some issues with the screw on part.

I felt that it has a very greasy feel and look to it and did not provide good enough coverage. The blush was better as far as the color but it too was greasy.

I put it under the sink in case of a rainy day or something. I stole the pad out of it about a week later, and noticed that the foundation had dried up and crcked even though it was closed tightly,

Overall, a waste about $28 for me. I do not...
...

anylit says "The perfect light coverage for everyday use." about Cover Girl CG Smoothers

I am not the type to wear heavy makeup - if I put it on at all in the morning, it's usually just enough to even out my skin tone, cover up dark circles or any spots, and to deal with shine or dryness. This tinted moisturizer is perfect for my type of makeup-wearer: it's lightweight, evens out skin tone without contributing much to the overall color of your face, moisturizes for dry skin, and has sunscreen (SPF 15! Thank you!)

I've found that this foundation works really well in combination with other skin-tone correcting products - it glides right over concealer or any touch-up foundation you might use without interfering with it, so it really helps create a unified skin tone. It also sits nicely under powder, if you use it. Finally, the lightness of the moisturizer makes it a great option for summer wear, especially in humid climates - you don't have to worry about feeling like its melting, as it absorbs nicely into the skin.
...

anylit says "Great foundation for covering and smoothing." about CoverGirl Advanced Radiance Restorative Cream Foundation

Believe it or not, I found this product at my local dollar store. Cover Girl makeup for a dollar is hard to pass up, so even though I didn't necessarily *need* more foundation, I decided to give it a try anyway.

I don't typically wear a full face of foundation, but I've found this product to be a great base for parts of my face I do want to cover up (especially dark circles under my eyes). At least in that sparing use, it doesn't feel too heavy (though I can't speak to wearing it all over my face, day in and day out.) The color match to my skin is pretty good, and it applies very easily - it's not too runny or too thick. So, its probably worth much more than the dollar I paid for it!

I also relaly appreciate that the product contains SPF 10 sunscreen. Sun protection is a serious issue and I would love to see this type of addition become standard in beauty products. I'm not sure what the "glucosamine complex" advertised on the container is supposed to do, but otherwise I'm quite satisfied...
...

A friend at work recommended this to me, so I took her advise and ran out a bought it. I am frugal by nature and although not the most expensive mascara out there it was not that cheap. I took it home and the first use I really liked it. I loved the little sparkles in it and thought it really made my eyes pop. The next day I was disappointed! The mascaras brush started to desinagrate. The little spikes started falling off literally on my eyelashes. No kidding after two uses all the little spikes were completly gone. If you really want to use this stuff I suggest you use your own mascara brush. I had to pick out the combs in my eyelashes....

This is the best foundation that I have ever used on my skin. I am easily irritated by make-up, and this has never caused me any problems. I have a bit of blotchiness to my skin, and need to wear make-up to even it out, but I always hated the heavy feel of it on my face all day. I cannot even FEEL this on my skin! It really evens everything out, and leaves a really pretty, glowing, flawless finish, but no flakiness or heaviness. Some foundation type make-ups can be hard to blend, hard to make look natural... but that is never a problem with this powder.
...

This is the best concealer that I have ever used! It covers up all of my flaws, without being too thick or cakey. It lasts really well during the day, but you can also add another layer over it if you are going out at night, and it won't get flaky. I got a medium color in this, and it works perfect on my light skin tone, as well as on my mothers darker skin tone. A couple of my friends have borrowed it from my purse, and it works great on everyone! Also, I have really sensitive skin, and this has never bothered me a bit. I love all Benefit products, but this is the one that I can't live without!
...

mommaSCOOTSIE says "The Absolute Best Primer I've Found...and I've tried a LOT!" about Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Primer (liquid)

This primer is the absolute best I have found. It is a beauty MUST HAVE for me, and I love it, love it, love it!!!!

It's amde by Rimmel which was not a brand I bought often, but I saw it and decided it was worth a shot. I'm so glad I got it! It was under $10 and works like a dream. It on;y comes in one "color". It comes out of the tube orange but don't be scared, it blends right in without adding any color. I am sure it would work on dark skintones just as well. It fells like a lightweight moisturizer. I don't even use my moisturizing cream anymore, just this primer during the day. I also stopped using liquid foundation. Rimmel Fix and Perfect provides great coverage so I don't need foundation. It has a very light, clean pleasant smell- like getting out of the shower "fresh". It's not oily or greasy in any way. It soaks in making my skin dewy, soft, and super smooth. I know it covers well. I have small veins on my eyelids and on my browbone area. I use the primer, and the veins disappear....
...

xkatiebethx3 says "This powder has amazing coverage. Well worth the price!" about Physicians Formula Powder Palette Multi-Colored Face Powder

Price: $11.49 (USD)
Packaging: Silver dual-opening round case. One side opens to the powder itself, the other opens to a mirror and a powder "puff".

Color: Beige

How I use it: I first applied a moisturizer, then concealer, and then I applied the Physicians Formula powder palette with my own powder brush (for lighter application).

My thoughts: If you notice above I do NOT have to use a liquid foundation with this product. This is the number one thing that sells this product to me. It has excellent coverage. It feels extremely smooth and light on my face, and if it weren't for the flawless appearance it gives my skin, I wouldn't know it was there. Yes, it is a little pricey, but I cannot stress enough how worth the money it is.

I noted above that I use my own powder brush with the product. This was key to making the powder work for me. I found the first couple times using the "puff" that was provided it felt a little too heavy and caked on. With the powder brush, it goes on smoothly and blends...
...

Ever since I was a young teen, I struggled with acne. My dad took me to the dermotologist, and I tried three different perscription acne treatments, including ones that were topical gels and ones that were actually pills. None of those worked for much longer than a couple of weeks, and then my parents had just wasted their money when we found that the acne still was just not going away. One day, I decided to look for foundation - but I was not specifically looking for skin-clearing foundation, just foundation in general. When I found this one by Neutrogena, I tried it -- it was also the first foundation I ever purchased. Right away, I found that my acne completely cleared. AND my foundation looked fabulous! I will never, ever use a different foundation than this one -- it's absolutely perfect for my skin, and makes my skin looks much smoother and more beautiful than it ever has before.
...

mommaSCOOTSIE says "Didn't get the promised results. " about Avon MagiX Face Perfector SPF 20

I was not impressed with Avon Magix Primer. I bought the colorless version. I felt that it did little of the things it claimed it would. My skin did not seem smoother, more even toned, or "glowy" in any way. I felt that the product had a consistency similar to toothpaste and felt thick sitting on top of my skin. When I rubbed my face the surface felt grainy and oily. In my opinion it left my face looking shiny- not glowy.

It smells strongly of sunscreen which may bother some, but it wasn't a huge problem for me. It did make my eyes water pretty badly if it got anywhere near the eye area. I used it for about three days then switched to a product made by Rimmel London called Fix & Perfect. It worked beautifully and I just love it.

I felt that at around $10, Avon Magix was not a good purchase and I will not buy it again. It comes in a tinted version, and also as a pressed powder. If the consistency of the tinted one is the same as the transparent (which it most likely is) I won't be trying...
...

Generally I don't wear makeup. I stopped using foundation many years ago. Then I got a sample of Bare MInerals Makeup. I was fasinated by the infomercials, but not convinced. But, I got the sample for a small price and decide to try it, convinced I would prove the commercials full of lies.

To my amazment, it did cover uneven coloring on my face very well without looking like I painted makeup on my face. It did not leave that heavy, feeling of liquid makeup either. So I did my whole face and went out into the world. to my amazement, my sister said my face looked younger and wanted to know what I was doing.

It also works well covering blemishes. I found that when I get the occational pimple, if I cover it with Bare Minerals at first sign, it actually helps get rid if it within a few days.

On my recommendation, my daughter, my sister and my mother tried it and also use this product. The mineral veil is wonderful too. Worth the price as you don't need much for full coverage.
...

This is a wonderful, quick addition to a morning make up routine. In addition to the Finishing Veil, my skin looks clearer than ever. I rarely have to reapply during the day, unless it's really really hot, and I hardly worry about how my skin looks when I'm wearing this. Lately I have just been wearing this alone, and it still has the same effect as the whole kit. I feel that it leaves a flawless finish, and it even covers some scars and pigmentation problems. Yet it still looks natural. I am complimented on my skin quite a few times a day, and I really believe this powder is one of the reasons. It does not break out my skin, it matches my skin tone really well (I use Translucent), and the brush is great for on-the-go make up application. I recommend this to anyone, but especially people who have had problems with acne. I would go so far as saying that it has helped clear up my acne as I no longer use harsh make up on my skin.
...

I really like the Cover Girl Tru Blend Liquid Foundation. I have tried many different foundations from liquids to minerals, to powders. I find that the powders are too drying for my skin so I tend to stick with liquids. The other problem I have is finding a color that matches my skin color. I am fair skinned with lots of pink undertones, which I do not like. So, this foundation in #2 works for both of my issues. It covers beautifully without looking too made up. Very natural while still covering problem areas. The best part of all is the price, very affordable, I have found this product for $5 to $10. I do have reason to believe that this product may cause breakouts in someone with oily skin. I have not had this problem. I would recommend this product to a friend!
...

joy99 says "Good product though not for everyone..." about Cover Girl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation

I tried the Cover Girl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation initially because I was intrigued with the "technology". I am 37 and do not have many wrinkles yet (knock wood) but I am always looking for that perfect skin, and really, who isn't? I love that it comes in so many shades. This was a huge plus for me. I did not like the "revolutionary" packaging as I find it cumbersome and not that easy to open. I always put moisturizer with sunscreen on underneath any of my make up and even though this has SPF, which I like, and Olay moisturizer I still use my regular stuff underneath. I think if you were looking for this make up to eliminate that first step you will be dissapointed. I don't think it glides on very easily without the moisturizer on underneath it. I also hated the sponge applicator. I found that it put the foundation on heavy and unevenly. I use my fingers and this is a sytem that works for me. I love the way it feels once it my it is applied and it seems that using your fingers really...
...

Karen726 says "Cover Me, I'm Going In" about Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Concealer

I have a drawer full of concealer. Technically I should be invisible by now. I have pastes, sticks, powders, tubes, liquids, gels, duos, pens, etc. This product is the last concealer I am buying. It works!!! I do have fine lines and circles under my eyes. The circles are lighter than darker, but they are there. This product is in a pen. Click away until the product can be seen on the brush and then dab on lightly. I use my pinky finger (or the sponge end of another concealer) to blend. I top with MUFE high def powder and wow! The lines are softer, the circles well hidden. I am no fan of drugstore concealers. Even companies with high end and drug store lines (L'oreal for one) has yet to put a concealer on the shelves of the mass retailers that works. High def makeup was developed for television/film, but the concept works and is now available to everyone.
...

nanthiya says "Love it" about Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Complexion Make-up

Most of the time, I am not wearing any make up so when I needed it, I look for somthing that is as close as natural as possible ( I am not a risk taker). I learned about Bare Minerals years ago from TV and I said to myself , if I happen to need to use make up in the future ,this will be the one. I went to the store near my neightborhood, and they do have a Bare Minerals store there with many artist/ sales person ready to help answering questions and give you a demonstration. I sat down and they did try it on me and that was it. I made the purchase right away. It is light and make you look almost natural but enough to cover any flaws you have on your face instantly. The other thing that I love is you can sleep with it (eventhough I don't recommend) but in case to got lazy or too late or whatever other reason and there is no experation date like all other make up. That is a win win situation for me ,because I don't know when I will finish this one.
...
