PattyTherre says "Everything's better when it's baked - even blush! " about Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten Blush Compact, Golden Apricot

Quick View: I have been a fan of Laura Geller's line of cosmetics for years. Her line of baked products is great. I have TONS of blushes but tend to stick with rosy hues. I decided it was time for a change so I picked up Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten Blush Compact in Golden Apricot. I thought I would look orange it doesn't at all. I love this shade and the formula is really great. I'll be buying more shades soon.

My Take on Laura Geller Blush-n-Brighten Blush Compact, Golden Apricot

This blush is baked and has a somewhat uneven texture. It isn't one color throughout. There are shades of deeper apricot and lighter all swirled within the compact. I like that because blush really shouldn't be one flat color. A little variation makes skin look better and the blush look more realistic.

This compact of hard packed blush looks peachy but also has deeper apricot hues. I was totally afraid that my pale olive skin would look like a pumpkin when I applied the blush. To the contrary, the shade actually...
...

Bare Escentuals is, by far, the best makeup i've ever purchased. it took a lot to get me to buy something that expensive that is "disposable" but i'll never go back to drugstore makeup again.

The little rounds seem so small, but they last forever. You really are paying for quality on this one. It only takes a tiny bit to cover a large facial area. It didn't even break my skin out, which most makeup does with shocking regularity.

I'm sold. I only wish their containers traveled better. If bounced around, they leak powder through the seam of the cap. i recommend a zippy bag for each container.
...

The Lancome aquatique eyeshaddow base is an exellent , good quality eyeshadow primer!!!! It makes your eyeshadow look better, feel better and last a lot longer than if you were to put eyeshadow directly on your eyelids without a primer!!!! Overall it is a great product if you love your eyeshadow to look its best and last a long time!!! It is a little pricy because it's Lancome but it is worth it when you think about how much you pay for eyeshadow and how much you have to reapply it through the day!!! The lancome primer is great because you dont have to worry about it wearing off through your work day!!! The Lancome primer is worth the pricy ticket in my oppinion because I can use a lot less eyeshadow which ion the end saves money with eyeshadow itself being so expensive anymore!!! So anyone who wears eyeshadow will love love love this product and wont be able to live without it!!! I recomend it to all my friends!!!
...

Bare Escentuals Hydrating Mineral Veil

I'm a big fan of Bare Escentuals / Bare Minerals products. I use the regular Mineral Veil and the Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Mineral Veil Feather Light as well, both of which I wouldn't be without.

I figured if two different Mineral Veils are good then three would be better right? Wrong! Bare Escentuals Hydrating Mineral Veil is definitely not all that. To start off, the texture is grainy and actually a bit rough, it is lightweight but as far as hydrating, no way! It has a dry texture that feels like a cheap oldfashioned face powder except it's sandy-ish and believe me at $29.00 for the 0.21 oz bareMinerals Hydrating Mineral Veil and "Hydrate & Brighten Brush" it's not cheap.

Yes the finish is sheer, yes it's colorless and yes it is super lightweight but when I first tried this I figured hmmm, a water-based hydrating powder with no oils, sure to be good to my complexion and add some moisture. Well nothing like that happened at all. The claim...
...

Dream Matte Powder's ultra-fine formula delivers an amazing air-soft feel and silky texture. It gives a natural, oil free look. It blends in with your skin to give it a nice fresh natural look, and shine free. The powder goes on very well and does not settle into you lines, and lasts for a great deal of time. It's great for any skin type or sensitivity and comes in 8 great shades. According to Maybelline it is is jet -milled into ultra fine particles, making it feel as if you aren't even wearing any makeup! It's dermatologist approved and doesn't clog pores. It leaves no tint to your face like typical powders or foundations do. It leaes your skin feeling clean, oil free and as if nothing was there. It goes on very smooth and does not cake on, no matter how many layers you put on, and helps to cover red marks and scars. Over all it feels great and leaves your skin feeling great as well, and all for at a low price.
...

I have tried and tried different foundations and was ecstatic when I found Cover Girl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation! I have tried them up and down the dollar amounts, from department stores to party plans and have paid exhorbitant prices for some that I have not been nearly as happy with!

I am a dry skin sufferer and have found that Cover Girl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation has just the right amount of moisturizer to get me through the day. This foundation goes on fabulously with a sponge (included) and it feels super light.
...

Although I am not loyal to L'oreal true match since the advent of Almay color blend, I do love it! It is the one product, in my experience, that truly matches your skin almost exactly. I use this when I need heavier coverage. Maybe if I am going out at night and need to look a bit more flawless. I use it for more than moisture control as I have very oily facial skin. The powder blends into your face and you can barely tell you have anything on. For maximum results, I use it with the true match foundation, which exactly matches my skin, Natural Buff. I'm very pale, but I do have some pink undertone scattered throughout my face. I'm not particularly rosy, I am mostly palor, but there is some color underneath. I love that L'oreal true match powder comes in shades to match all women, not just white women, which I often see. Many women of color have difficulty finding foundation that matches their skin in a regular run of the mill retail store. I have heard that time and...
...

Ok, so I have used Physician's Formula for many years, but I prefer to use Almay, the kind that blends into the skin. When my skin is broken out, I choose Physician's Formula. Well, anyway, this compact came in a green bag with four different contouring brushes in it. It was on sale for half off and was under ten bucks! How can you go wrong with that so I figured I would venture on the wildside and try it. It has three distinct layers all seperated within the compact. There is a highlighter, a face powder, and a bronzer. Its very light coverage, so if you are looking for something heavier, which I am at times, its not for you. The bronzer isn't too dark, which I like. This stuff is very multipurpose. You can use the bronzer as a blush as I generally do. The compact itslef is made from what appears to be recycled paper or cardboard. Its double sided with a mirror on the reverse side of the powders. In my case, where I got it so cheap, it was a pretty good deal,...
...

this makeup is great! It goes on silky smooth, like it just glides over the surface of your skin. Just like it is whipped and light but it has just the right amount of coverage without being at all heavy or dry looking. It makes my skin look dewy and fresh but feels clean and silky smooth. Maybelline dream mouse foundation is the only one I use now and I have tried so many different brands and they all made me look older because they dried out my skin and brought more notice to the lines on my face instead of hiding them. Dream mouse foundation just makes my skin look younger and doesn't even look like I have makeup on except that I look better and I feel great about it. The other added bonus is that it is really affordable. My sister had just bought one of those pricey mineral makeup's that you send away for and called me raving about it and how had to try it , well after I told her about Dream Mouse foundation and how I would never use anything else she went out and bought...
...

I used to use Revlon colorstay liquid years ago and it wrecked havoc on my acne!! Slowed healing time and ugh, what a mess. So when I saw they were releasing a mineral foundation, i was ecstatic!!

Ran right out and bought it.

Unimpressed to say the least... Talcy; pasty; doesn't last long; makes skin appear dry and shows flaws WORSE than without makeup (whhat?!?!) Reminds me of the old fashioned loose powder sold in the large containers with powder puff... remember those?

The packaging is a whole 'nother issue... The brush is STIFF and actually hurts my cheeks and sensitive areas, like around the eyes...Doesn't wick up the foundation like a good kabuki would and should... The concept was right on with the twirly brush contraption.... but it didn't work out, in my opinion.

My skin type is: medium toned; semi-oily; Acne prone; acne scars; blackhead prone; sensitive; etc... There are much better (purer) minerals on the market that I'd recommend... Even OTC minerals......
...

I've tried just about every mineral foundation and concealer out there and had never had the coverage and stay power that I get with Everyday Minerals!! I've found the Intensive formula blended with the Matte formula is perfect for me... I use the concealer brush for trouble spots; acne; scars; etc and they virtually disappear... I then use a kabuki or other foundation brush to do an 'all over' It lasts even on my oily skin, tho I do freshen it a couple times thru-out the day.

If you are in the mineral dilemma check them out!! You won't be disappointed.

I bought Ivory...it was too light, I looked like a corpse. Perhaps the Olay element lightened the color too much. So I went up a few shades and bought buff beige. I am fair skinned and brown haired. I also bought the matching buff beige compact powder by Cover Girl . I found the most success with using moisturizer before applying the foundation...otherwise it is too dry, despite the presence of the Olay. Yes it does go on thick, but wait a few minutes and allow it to settle in, then apply your matchilng powder and you will have a flawless, velvety porcelain finish. My face looks awesome!
...

I was pleasantly surprised with this product. Just swirl light handedly around the entire palette to create a natural glowing color. Add more of the color if you prefer a bit darker, or just concentrate in the highlight palette area for a bit more shimmer. If you want it to simply match foundation, that is possible too! Brace yourself for the best part, it was comfortable to wear. I have sensitive skin and it was not the least bit irritating. That would have been enough for me but this product continued to give! With ONE application my skin did not have oily shine, nor did it dry it out like a desert for the entire day. With all sincerity I did not think a powder product could do all that. Oh, and it is environmental friendly, animal free testing, recycled packaging agents...Is there anything left to say or want? I had been trying for months to replace a discontinued powder from a different cosmetic company. Too bad for them... and THANK YOU TO PHYSICIANS FORMULA :)
...

Smashbox HIGH DEFINITION LIQUID CONCEALER

I recently reviewed Maybelline's Dream Mousse concealer and wasn't very happy with the product. I have a bagful of concealers that are ok but nothing I really love.

I was online at Sephora.com and saw that Smashbox cosmetics had a new high definition concealer in liquid form. I rarely look for a liquid formulation in a concealer as they never seem to provide enough coverage for me. I read the product description as follows ..."The good-for-your-skin formula includes cell-energizing ribose, soy, angelica extract and caffeine to reduce redness, dark circles and under eye puffiness. Soft focus pearls reflect light to minimize the appearance of fine lines and blemishes."

Hmmm I said, this sounds like something different, I gave it some thought and decided to order one. Well I've been using it for about two weeks now and I'm liking it. I chose the Light shade, it's a good basic inbetween color with that little touch of yellow that helps tone down redness....
...

Quick View: A quick scan of JK Jemma Kidd reviews here on Viewpoints will probably tell you that I am a big fan of this British makeup artist's new line. Well, new to the US line. Everything I have tried has been superior. This blush is no exception. It really does adapt to my skin, is natural looking, and super long wearing.

My Take on JK Jemma Kidd Cheek ID Colour Adapt Blush

This blush, and the whole JK Jemma Kidd line, is sold only at Target stores and target.com. It's a fairly high end brand and this little blush will set you back $18.00. The blush is in a small plastic compact with no unnecessary packaging. It's funny. When I got it home, it looked kind of dusty pink in the container. Now that I have used it several times, it looks much rosier. I have no idea why.

At any rate, the blush is NOT clear like many products that claim to adapt to skin tone. It is a rose color. But when you put it on, it becomes the color that you would blush if you really did blush. A little more and you'll...
...

Cennet says "All in all a great brush!" about e.l.f. Total Face Brush

This is a great buy for the money conscious person! It has soft bristles, although with time it will need to be replaced because they seem to get more rough as time goes on. I have had mine for well over a year, so it's way past time for me to replace mine. For $1 you really can't beat it and it's great at actually moving the powder around to where you need it when you brush it on your face. You know what i'm talking about, you dab powder on and you try to smudge it around with a brush and it's like your powder is all stuck in ONE spot...yeah this brush doesn't do that, it actually moves it where you want it and blends very very well. I recommend all e.l.f. products to my friends because i swear by them to be honest. They're right up there with Sephora and M.A.C. if you ask me, at least for something that is as big of a bargain as their[e.l.f.] products are, compared to others who charge 15 dollars for ONE eyeshadow, yeah RIGHT, who can afford that nowadays? GO FOR THE e.l.f.!!!
...

Livience says "Bare Escentuals Starter Kit is a beauty must-buy!" about Bare Escentuals Starter Kit

Let me start by saying that I have tried all of the drugstore mineral makeups and they are nothing more than wannabes of Bare Escentual's original and far superior product.

When I first started seeing commercials for Bare Escentuals' mineral makeup on cable television, I thought it totally smacked of witchcraft and infomercialism. There was just no way that Bare Minerals could do what the commercials said it could.

But then I started seeing user reviews popping up all over the place, talking about how much people loved this product. And so I finally decided that I had to try it for myself.

I popped into Sephora and picked up the Bare Escentuals Starter Kit. It came with two foundations, a bronzer, a powder, three brushes, and an instructional DVD.

I watched the DVD and followed the instructions. I looked into a mirror and was blown away.

It really does work! My skin looked nearly flawless!

Goodbye, liquid foundations and tinted moisturizer. I've found the only foundation I'll ever need....
...

mbulington says "Great Little Pen" about Mary Kay Highlighting Pen

Being cursed with problem skin is a daily struggle! Trying to find products that cover up dark circles, acne scars and such has been an on going problem for me. The problem is not so much the coverage but making the coverage look natural. Finding something that is light weight but not light in coverage is not easy. So, when my Aunt started selling Mary Kay, I saw this pen and decided what the heck. I have used Mary Kay concealer in the past and like it, but it is not quite right for me. I have tried other highlighters before and always hated the "sparkly" look they left. Highlight is not the same a a silvery sparkle to me. This pen not only works wonders for dark under eye circles but it also works on any red spots or dark sports I may have at any given time. It is light weight - almost silky like and the coverage is awesome. I have an olive skin tone and am pleased with the way the color blends in.
...

mommaSCOOTSIE says "There is nothing about this product that I like." about Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Foundation

I have written many product reviews, and I have never had absolutely nothing nice to say. Until now. I hate this foundation. It is probably the worst I have ever used.

It claims to be made of 100% pure minerals. I don't know, but I never break out. This stuff made me break out terribly on my chin after the first use. It looks oily and nasty. Like a shiny mask. The colors are way darker than they look in the bottle. The foundation has a very bad odor. I would compare it to rubbing diarrhea on your face. It's scent is acidic and very chemical. I could smell my face for the entire day. It was disgusting.

Throughout the day it melted off pretty bad and left me with an extremely obvious makeup line. One it began to melt it caused a stinging sensation and a little bit of redness.

I used it for a total of maybe five times. Every single time I used it I woke up with pimples on my chin the following day.

I do not recommend this foundation.
...

mommaSCOOTSIE says "Bad Buy for Me. I used it once and then pitched it :(" about Cover Girl and Olay Simply Ageless Foundation

In my opinion, this product was terrible. For the price I paid (it was $13.88) it was a huge disappointment. Unfortunately, I didn't just buy foundation. I also bought blush for the same price. I regretted it after one use.

In the ads it claims to "suspend over fine lines". They are supposed to be less apparent because the foundation doesn't soak into the wrinkles. I felt that it made them way more obvious. The color of it seemed off to me. I bought the lightest shade and it was too dark. I liked the package design, but I could see women with arthritis having some issues with the screw on part.

I felt that it has a very greasy feel and look to it and did not provide good enough coverage. The blush was better as far as the color but it too was greasy.

I put it under the sink in case of a rainy day or something. I stole the pad out of it about a week later, and noticed that the foundation had dried up and crcked even though it was closed tightly,

Overall, a waste about $28 for me. I do not...
...
