The Summer Infant Handheld, Day and Night Color Monitor. This monitor is a video baby monitor. The monitor is handheld, it rotates and zooms the camera. It's wonderful. You can tote the monitor around, clip it on your pants, and at night plug it in for a charge on your nightstand for all night monitoring. We have 5 children and splurged on this monitor for our youngest two babies. At $199, it's pricey--the only drawback. You can also add up to 4 cameras, allowing more video access throughout your home. I think it should include 2 camera's for the price. We love this monitor.
...

The MobiCam AV Baby Monitor is what we purchased to look after the little one when she needs to be down for a nap or off to bed early. It comes with a camera that is easy to set up beside the bed, crib, or cradle, and a separate color monitor that you can take anywhere you want. Both devices can be operated using electricity or battery power, but by using batteries, it allows you to walk around the house with the monitor in hand. They are two different channels to operate the system on, so if you are getting static or interference on one of them, you can simply switch over to the second feed. It is very easy to set up right out of the box, and new parents can be off and running with the MobiCam.

The first noticeable thing about the MobiCam is the high quality images that the camera provides. If it is during the day, the image is presented in bright colors, and if it is in the dark, the night vision camera function turns on to allow you to see in the dark. The camera...
...

I purchased this monitor because it was priced well. The problem I have with the monitor is that it makes a clicking noise if you turn the monitor up to hear the babies noises. The clicking noise is very annoying and at night when I am trying to sleep it keeps me up. Because I had purchased it at Babies R Us and did not have my receipt I could not return or exchange. I did email Sony about the problem, but it was difficult to explain the problem through an email. I have had the monitor for over a year and still use it for my toddler. I am expecting my second child in a few months and have register for a different monitor. This time, I want a monitor that has a visual screen of the baby sleeping and noise detector. Don't assume that it is a good product because it says Sony. The Sony Babycall NTM-910 was a bad choice. By the way, if it is close to a cell phone, it makes a loud screaming noise if you are getting an incoming call.
...

I recieved the "Summer Infant baby's quiet sounds monitor" at my baby shower from hostess'. Awesome present. I wasn't convinced I needed a baby monitor since my sons bedroom is right next to ours, but it has helped greatly. You know those times you wake up in middle of night to baby noises and don't know if their still asleep or or if their actually awake. It saves on alot of trips back and forth to check on them. It also helps when your working around the house because you can move the monitor TV to different rooms as you work so you can get your housework done with worries about the little one. For something I thought I would never need much less use, I am thankful for the people that took it upon themselves to buy it for anyway. I don't know what I would do without it. I truely believe now that it is a necessity for EVERY parent out there. You never know when it will be extremely handy.
...

This baby monitor is an excellent product. The lights are very sensitive and light up even with slight movements. Every sound is very clear. It has two channels in case someone near by has the same monitor so that they don't conflict. It also works for long ranges, I think it's like 90 yards, which is great for when I am downstairs doing laundry or workig outside. The Fisher Price long range monitor is also very inexpenisve, costng me about thirty five dollars. I have had the monitor for two years, and even with my daughter's rough play with it, i stil works just as well as the day we bought it. Another feature I really love about this monitor is that is has to handsets so you can keep them in different areas of the home, this makes things easier, as you don't have to keep carrying the monitor from one room to another. All in all, I would say this monitor is well worth every penny and I would recommend it to anyone.
...

I received this Fisher Price Baby Monitor from my dad, who used it to spy on his neighbor who is crazy and it helped them from a whole regular yard house to house to get good reception. I am proud of this monitor because if my cat is outside meowing I can hear it through the monitor on the other side of our apartment. You can put this monitor in the bathroom next to the baby and still hear the baby suck on his pacifier. I was shocked about how great this montior can pick up sounds, just leaving it on all the time, i can hear someone open our screen door, and im in a two bedroom house. This montior has never let me down, it has a great charge when its not pluged into the power cord, and I can leave my son in his crib asleep and go to the upstairs appartment or to get the mail over two hundred feet away and hear that hes okay. I can even hear noises from outside, for example trucks passing on the main street, or the other night I heard someones house alarm going off from a block away. I love...
...

We bought this monitor because it has such a great reputation for being reliable and having a good range. Unfortunately, it really hasn't lived up to all we had hoped. We live in an average 2 bedroom condo-- about 1250 sq feet. I can be in the room next to my daughter's bedroom, and if the cat walks by the monitor it will say it's out of range. We've tried just about every combination of frequencies, and that only seems to help marginally. And, not only does it frequently say it's out of range when it's not, but it also clicks like it's getting static interference. It's loud enough to wake me up in the middle of the night sometimes. Again, we've played with where we leave it and haven't really found a perfect solution. It's incredibly annoying.

I talked to a friend of mine, and she said she bought the same monitor for her son (who is 2 1/2) and that one works perfectly. However, she bought the same one that I have for her youngest who is the same age as my daughter and...
...

I added the Safety 1st In Sight Video Monitor to my baby registry at WalMart. We were expecting twins, our sixth and seventh children. They would be sharing a room with their 5 year old brother and sister. I wanted to be sure that the older two were not bothering the babies. I set up the system and liked that I could see clearly in their room day or night. The camera was hard to adjust to look into the cribs though. There is no way to attach the camera to the wall, it has to sit on a table top. Then the trick was trying to adjust the camera so that the lense pointed in between the bars of the crib. I tried this with my husband looking from the other room and ended up bringing the monitor into the kids' room. There was some feedback when the two components were too close together so it was still a bit difficult to set it up right. I could not see both babies at the same time and ended up setting the camera across the room looking at the two cribs, not the babies.

This was by far the best purchase we made before our little one was born. We are both nervous parents and this monitor gave us peace of mind while our baby slept. It comes with two parent units and a base. It also has a movement sensor that goes under the crib mattress. It detects any and all movement (or lack of movement). An alarm sounds if there is no movement for 30-60 seconds....it even detects breathing movement. I don't think me or my husband would have slept the entire first year without this monitor. We both highly recommend. Our son is now 3 1/2 and we still use the base and parent units to listen into his room at night. The movement pad detaches so you can continue to use it as a regular baby monitor even after the child is out of the crib. Both the parents units and the bases have 9V adapters so you can plug them into the outlet as well as battery compartments for 4AAA so you can carry them with you as needed. I cannot recommend this product enough! It...
...

The First Years Baby Monitor is an affordable option for a standard baby monitor. The price really drew me to this specific brand and model. The First Years Baby Monitor doesn't offer the latest technology, but includes two receivers that are helpful in hearing the baby all around the house.
The First Years Baby Monitor does not have great reception; it is somewhat fuzzy. The monitor gets a lot of interference. Also the static through the receivers is irritating when trying to sleep with them in the same room.
When listening for a newborn, the volume on the First Years Baby Monitor must be turned up all the way to hear baby clearly. However, if listening for an older baby or toddler, the sound quality is sufficient.
The long distance range is pretty good, I can travel 2 houses down the street and get decent reception. The belt clip is helpful for toting the monitor hands free around the house or outside.
The monitor have taken beating at our house and still work...pretty durable!......

I was SO NERVOUS when I had my first child...so much that I KNEW I wouldn't be sleeping for months because I'd be the crazy mom hovering over her child with a mirror to make sure she was breathing. I had some friends recommend this monitor and seriously...it's the ONLY reason I got any sleep. I was so comfortable knowing that if anything happened her monitor would sound, alerting us to come and come quick. I also used this monitor (same one) for my second child and have never had any technical or mechanical issues at all.

This monitor is actually my staple gift to give when a new friend becomes pregnant for the first time. It is a SAVOR and such a relief to know you can sleep while the monitor takes over. Also, the pad is so thin that it doesn't disrupt the mattress in the least and we have also taken this on all r vacations and just used it as a regular monitor when the baby is in the pack and play since there is the option to turn the 'motion' part off.
...

I purchased the Summer Infant Handheld Color Video Monitor when my son started climbing out of his crib. I had been hesitant to purchase a video monitor before this because the are so pricey and often get mixed reviews. I went with this one based on the advice of a cousin who has owned it for 2 years. I love being able to see what my boys are doing in their room without getting up. The picture is quite clear although it takes some getting used to if you have never seen you kids with night vision before. I love that the parent end can be plugged in on my nightstand or travel aroung the house with me. I also like that you don't have to keep the viewing screen turned on all the time. I have noticed that the unit can get quite warm to the touch if you leave the screen on for hours at a time but I see no reason to leave it on while you are sleeping. When I want to check on my kids, I turn the screen on and then turn it right off.

The Graco iMonitor has been pretty good for us. Compared to the Sony monitor we have, it is great! Some of the pros: it has 2 receivers so we do not have to try to carry one around all day. We can keep one in our bedroom and one in the kitchen. Cons: short short short battery life. I literally try to take one of the receivers off of the base and carry it outside on the deck with me, and it starts beeping right away after about 5 minutes. It is very poor. I thought about buying a battery to go in it, but dont think it is worth it now that my son is almost 2. I wont be using a monitor for him at all for much longer. Another con is that you cannot turn the volume all of the way down or put it to "voice activated mode" like I can with my Sony monitor so in the dead of night when it is really quiet inside, I hear white noise when I am trying to sleep and it bugs me! But overall a good value. I found it on ebay for a lot less than it was selling for in the stores!
...

I have mixed feelings about this baby monitor. It is a great monitor in one major way: it allows the parent to turn it to "voice activated only" mode where you dont have to listen to white noise from the baby's nursery the whole time it is turned on. I loved that. BUT the negatives are numerous. It only has one receiver so we have had to carry it from our master bedroom to the kitchen area every day since my daugher was born three years ago! What a pain! Another negaitve is that the battery life is terrible. We have to have it plugged in over night or it will begin a terrible low battery beeping noise halfway through the night. One more thing I hate... if it happens to be sitting near my cell phone, it picks up the frequency and begins beeping and making a loud static noise. So as my cell phone sends out a signal periodically, the monitor will have a long static hiss noise. It really does not allow you to carry it too far from it's base. Not recommended.
...

Safety 1st Baby Monitor we are using is a wonderful way for us to be able to sleep knowing that our daughter is moving or waking up or crying. The monitor is set by her crib and anytime she even makes a simple roll over or sniffle our receiving ends will light up and we can hear the sound. We live in a home and our bedroom is about 80 feet from our daughters and even with both of the doors closed the monitor picks up movement and sounds just fine. The Safety 1st monitors also provide you to be able to install a battery into the monitor and the two receivers. That way if the power goes out the monitors will still work and still be able to provide the security to hear our babies cries or breathing. The only con that I would give the monitor is that it picks up people outside of our home, who also have a baby monitor. Which makes us wonder if they can hear us too. The Safety 1st Baby monitor that we received was a gift but when we saw it in the store we noticed that it was affordable.
...

jennieb says "never again" about Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor with Dual Recievers

We got this as a baby shower gift and thought it was just what we wanted. The Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor with Dual Recievers, had two receivers wo we were able to put one in our room and one in the livingroom. We tried to use batteries in it at 1st, but they died after two days. After about a month of using them, they both became soooo staticy and we were unable to hear our child. I tried switching channels but nothing seemed to work. We ended up having to buy a different monitor, so this ended up being a waste of money. I would not recommend!!!

My brother and sister-in-law also have these monitors. Although they have not had to buy another one yet, they were using them for about 6 months when one of the Fisher Price Private Connection Monitor with Dual Recievers, receivers stopped working all together. The other one sounds like there is something rattling around in it all the time. I am betting that it won't be long before they replace them.

I have had this monitor system for 3 1/2 years. It has worked great up until recently, the 2 receivers are going bad. I have been trying to find replacement receivers but can't so I'm just going to buy the same system. We have used ours day and night this whole time...I think 3+ years now-a-days makes for a superb product!!!I was surprised by the negative reviews on this monitor. I have been using this monitor since my daughter was born last May, and we have had no problems with it. Our house is on the smaller side, and all the rooms are on one level, so that may be part of it. I have noticed some static if I go outside with the receiver, but even then I could still hear well enough to know if she was awake. Inside, I have had no static issues. My husband jokes that the monitor is so sensitive, you could hear an ant crawling, but I like that I can hear my daughter breathing on the monitor. Battery life has been really good too, we are just now noticing the rechargeable batteries need to...
...

I noticed some negative reviews on this product, but I think I might have a little more experience with monitors. I will start this off by prefacing that I don't use this monitor at night because my daughter sleeps with me, but like I said this is not my first time around the block with baby monitors. The Fisher Price monitor is really quiet compared to others I've had in the past. Of course there is a little back ground static but even the slightest noise is detected and even amplified on this monitor. I didn't have an issue with the clicking and I don't have problems with our cell phones or wireless internet either. The monitor looks good and one of my favorite feature is that you can see the lights on both sides of the handset which makes it even more convenient. I will admit that for a person who has problems sleeping with white noise that the monitor might bother them at night, but again any little noise is detected so it isn't a matter of whether you'll hear your baby or not. Also,...
...
