Thes pacifiers are great!!! My son LOVES them. They are easy for him to keep in his mouth and I love the fact that it's an orthodontic pacifier so it won't mess up his jaw and teeth. I was givin his first one in the hospital, because my hospial prefers them to the bulky Soothies that take up half your babies face.

The are REALLY easy to find, Babies R Us usually has them on sale and you can find tham at Walmart abd Target. I love all the various patterns, colors, and themes they come in...very cute pacifiers. The have everything from simple colors, to things like "Stud Muffin", "Little Princess," and "I Love Mommy" printed on them, the also have cute colored patterns and cartoon animals.

And we all know pacifiers all ways end up getting lost so I like the fact that the come in a handy 2 pack, all for about $5. And the plastic case they come in is very good for storing them for when you need them, no more grimy pacifier at the bottom of the diaper bag.

The silicone is really soft, like skin, and...
...

Bchild says "I think Soothie Pacifiers are over rated" about Soothie Soothie Pacifier

Soothie Pacifiers are the number-one pacifier used in over half the hospitals in the USA. This is a hospital greade pacifier. It is BPA free with a latex free nipple and a one peice design to reduce germs.

That said, I don't like it. It is supposidly "shaped like mom to avoid nipple confusion!" which is ridicolous. Mom is shaped like mom. Any artificial nipple will cause nipple confusion. By advertising otherwise, they trick parents into using them and it causes problems. Know that if you are going to use a pacifier, it will cause confusion. At least other pacifiers are up-front about it.

My biggest problem with the Soothie Pacifier is that have to literally HOLD it in my baby's mouth. The shape of the nipple and how it fits into the base makes it too slippery. There is just nothing to keep it in baby's mouth. If I let go for a second it falls out. It will, of course, fall to the ground, landing on dirt or grass or sand or on a peice of lint, or on top of the cat. This means I have to go...
...

Bchild says "I love Nuk Orthodontic Silicone Pacifiers!" about Gerber Nuk Orthodontic Silicone Pacifiers

Both me and my baby love the Nuk Orthodontic Silicone Pacifier! First of all, they are adorable. I love all the colors and cute little designs on them. Second, my baby looks adorable with one. I started my baby out using Soothies. but soothies just aren't as cute as Nuks (which is not the reason I witched BTW, It's just a side benefit)
And third, I love how easy they are to get, to keep in my baby's mouth, and to keep clean.

Nuk Orthodontic Silicone Pacifiers are sold everywhere. Most places ever carries all the colors and designs. No matter what store I am at, I can ususally find this product.

The big advatnage of the Nuk Orthodontic Silicone Pacifiers is that my baby an keep it in the mouth. Once the baby is sucking on it, the pacifier will stay in the mouth and not fall out. This may be the way the nipple is shaped, I'm not sure. All I know is that if I wasn't holding the Soothie in my baby's mouth, it would drop on the floor.

Which brings me to my favorite thing about Nuk Orthodontic...
...

My daughter was a preemie and didn't take well to a whole lot of anything at first, but did well with these. She didn't have a good suck reflex and these really helped, especially since we were trying to breastfeed. This is what the doctor and the hospital gave us when she was first born and she would not take another kind of pacifier the entire time she used them. They make a soothie pacifier for biters that are stronger and have sides that are ideal for biting and we got one of those for my daughter too. She really liked that she could suck on the pacifier then chew on the side and we liked that she wasn't biting other kids!

These are not that expensive; they are comparable to other pacifiers and are easily found at grocery stores and walmart or target types of stores too. They come in green, pink and blue that I know of and the hospital gave us an orange one. I've not seen any other colors.

It does have a pacifier clip type of thing to keep it clipped to baby's clothes, but...
...

beaner5587 says "Nuk is the only way my son will have it" about Gerber Nuk Pacifier

Thank goodness for this product. The Nuk brand is amazing but I don't know where we would be if our eight month old son didn't have hin nuk pacifiers. Every where we go He always has one and a backup isn't far behind. It truthfully is a "pacifier" as my son acts as if he can't breath without it. Most people ask what is the difference from one type of pacifier to another. I think it must be the shape of the nipple that makes my son like is. It isn't too bulky and it has a nice shape to it. I have also switched out all of his bottles to the Nuk brand because he likes the nipple so much better. I truthfully am not sure of the big difference but I know what my son likes. This pacifier comes in sizes as most others do and it also comes in a great selection of colors. We have had many brands but none good enough to sor son. I never waned him to take a pacifier but now that he has I'm glad it does what the title says. Check out this item.
...

DFGirlTristaLou says "I love how cute these are incomparison to the Soothie pacifier." about Hawaii Medical Gumdrop Baby Pacifier

My daughter who is 3 months really loves the Soothie pacifier, but I HATE the look of this paci. It is just so hospital looking. I know that it is supposed to be one of the best pacifiers to use for your baby, but I am sure I am not the only mom who looks for the cutest things for their babies and kids and there really is not anything cute about the Soothie. Oh but I did find other color Soothies besides green so that made me happier, but it still wasn't what I was looking for. But then in one of my baby mags I found an advertisement for the Gumdrop pacifiers. I was so excited! They were the same nipple as the Soothie, but so much cuter. I knew I had to get one of them. I looked for them and also found out that they even had more of a color selection than Soothie. They also had the vanilla fragranced pacifiers, although I believe that Soothie offers that too.

All in all if your baby loved the Soothie pacifier in the hospital then they will LOVE the Gumdrop also and I am sure you will too....
...

I work in the newborn intensive care unit as a nurse, and Soothie Pacifiers are the pacifiers we use in the hospital. I've always thought they were ugly, and never planned on using them with my own babies- until lactation recommended it because of the straight nipple shape which is more like a breast for nursing babies and helps avoid nipple confusion, according to the lactation consultant at the hospital. So I ended up buying these as well as the cute Gerber ones- and guess which ones my baby prefers? Yep, my son won't take the cute Gerber pacifiers, he spits them across the room, but he will go to town with the soothie pacifier! We ended up getting thrush after my son was at the children's hospital on antibiotics and oxygen for an infection- and the pediatrician told us we had to throw all pacifiers away EXCEPT the soothies. The way other pacifiers are made, there is a pocket inside the nipple, and you can't sterilize it. The soothies have no pocket and you can boil them and completely...
...

The soothie pacifiers are great! With my second child, which is now 4 months old, they gave this pacifier with us in the hospital. It's funny, because the babies are so tiny and the pacifier is so big when it's in their mouth, but it's really a great pacifier! I thought you could only get these from the medical website, but they're in stores!! And when i found they had pink, I was so excited!! I'm a pink girl and so is my daughter! They also have blue, green and purple i believe. They are also naturally scented with vanilla as well i think.
...

Soothie was my son's pick of the pacifer. Altho there is one other I can get him to suck on he prefers his soothie. His first soothie was the premie soothie which is purple and you can only get at the hospital. The newborn and sixth month plus you can get at the store. I have found that they are cheeper then other pacifiers. So if you are looking to safe money with a future baby. I would pick this pacifer I will probably use it with the rest of my children. The do have a soothie pacifier clip that you can buy at target or walmart for it. I bought one and it works great and looks cute. The only problem with the clip is that it makes the pacifer bigger around and can sometimes prevent the child from being able to suck on the pacifier. I do use it when we are out and about and sometimes at home, but I have to turn it to the side so my son can suck on the pacifier. The color for newborn pacifer is green just encase you don't know the sex of your baby, no need to worry about what color to get...
...

Nuk's are the best pacifiers on the market! I tried several with my daughter, and the Nuk was the only one she consistantly liked. She took to it instantly and it helps soothe her whenever she is trying to go to sleep or feeling grouchy, like after getting a shot. They are pretty inexpensive and easy to wash. The only downside is that sometimes when you wash them, water gets trapped inside. It's really annoying, because then it makes a noise every time she sucks on it - I'm always afraid it will keep her from falling asleep. You can get the water out, but you have to squeeze the water out manually - it takes a few minutes. This is the only downside though - it is the only pacifier that I would buy.

gophils33 says "these things are great and the best for gums and teeth" about Gerber Nuk Pacifier

I've used quite a few different types of pacifiers or nuks, and by far the best in my opinion are the ones by Gerber. First of all, the different sizes (stage 1, 2 and 3) are actually the correct size for infant mouths. A lot of pacifiers say they are for zero to three months, but in reality are way too big which can be bad for the babies mouth. They are also reasonably priced, while some other brands of pacifiers can be almost double the price, and not from nearly as reliable and trusted name as Gerber. These pacifiers are also BPA free. BPA is a chemical in a lot of plastic bottles and baby stuff that some studies have shown can be harmful to all people, not just infants. There is only one thing I don't really love about the pacifiers and that is the ring that is on the end of them. The ring makes it easy for the infant to grab hold and pull it out of their mouths, and then they are unable to get them back into the mouth. This can be a pain.
...

coqui77 says "Former Gerber Nuk user, Soothie is a great pacifier" about The First Years Soothie Pacifier

I got this pacifier for free like most people, from the hospital when my fourth child was born. With my other three kids, I used the Gerber Nuk brands. My youngest wouldn't take the Gerber Nuk pacifier so I stuck with the Soothie one. I have read that it is supposed to be better for breastfeeding, but I can't say for sure. I can say that I have had a easier time nursing with this child than I did with the other three, but it may not have just been the pacifier.

All in all, if I was going to have a fifth child, I would use this kind over the Gerber Nuk variety.

Pros:

My baby can put it in her mouth easily by herself

Unlike the Gerber Nuk for example, the entire pacifier is the same material so even if she puts the wrong side in, she doesn't hurt her mouth.

The bottles that Soothie makes are almost the same as the pacifier so the transition is easy. (I have had issues before with the child taking a bottle b/c the nipple was so different).

Cons:

Before my daughter was born I accumulated a huge collection of pacifiers. I had at leasty five or six different brands, and when Lily was born I began trying each of them. There were a couple she would use at first pretty consistently, but once I opened the package of Nuk pacifiers she wouldn't put anything else in her mouth! I had to go to the store immediately and buy more ... it was well worth it! I have heard many other people say the same thing about their kids, and was always skeptical of them in the past.

Once we brought my newborn home, I noticed the pacifier she came home with, a Soothie, had a web address on it. Curious, I checked it out. I found a binky called a WubbaNub. Basically, it is the same Soothie, she had, but it had a little stuffed animal attached to the end of it! I thought it was cute, but also practical! I could see how that little animal on the end would make it much easier to find the binky, especially in the middle of the night! Imagine, no more desperate searches in the dark at 2 am for a little green pacifier!!

The price was about the same as your typical toy, $10.00, and got the regular shipping for it (as opposed to overnight and expidited shipping). The grand total was $14.99! They had four animals to choose from: duck, horse, frog, and a red dog. I ordered the duck, and about a week later, I received it. I LOVED IT!! Everyone has complimented me on such a unique binky! And as I assumed, it was SO MUCH EASIER to find in the middle of the night and also around...
...

hudson2001 says "Worked great for us, well worth a try at their inexpensive cost." about The First Years Soothie Pacifier

I didn't want to give my baby a pacifier AT ALL. I was paranoid that since I was breastfeeding, that any pacifier was going to ruin things... but we were at the hospital for a test and the baby was fussing a bit and the nurse asked if we had a pacifier and I said no. She reached into the cupboard and pulled out one of these, saying they were highly recommended. We took it from her, thanked her, and threw it in the diaper bag. (We didn't try it right then because, as I mentioned, I did NOT want my baby to use a pacifier.)

And then came a time when he was really fussy. And we had just watched The Happiest Baby on the Block DVD and learned that Sucking is something that, ironically, PACIFIES a baby and calms them down... so I gave the baby the Soothie...and he loved it! LOVED IT! I immediately went out and bought two more 2-packs (from Target and Babies R Us). I also bought the next-stage pacifiers (one step up from newborn).

Of course if he is super agitated (or hungry) then it won't stay...
...

nicolett80 says "Bebe Sounds Always Clean Pacifier Injured My Child" about Bebe Sounds Always Clean Pacifier

I bought Bebe Sounds Always Clean Pacifier because I thought it sounded like a great product. My son was always dropping his pacifier on the floor and then trying to pick it up and put it back in his mouth before I get a chance to clean it off. I saw this product at the local Babys R Us and thought, wow what a great idea! I purchased it, brought it home, immediately sanitzed it and tried it out to make sure it worked properly. It pretty much did what it was supposed to do, not as good as I thought, but good enough. I thought it was shaped a little funny and big, but we would give it a try. I gave it my son and about 2 hours later is when it hurt him. He was crying and I ran over to him, wondering what happened to him. He had a very red scratch right near his mouth. I saw the pacifier laying there and picked it up to look at it. There was a very sharp edge on the handle of the pacifier! It had scratched his face! I was very upset and immediately called the company that made it. They told...
...

artsycricket says "Daughter just loves these!!" about Gerber Nuk Pacifier

These are the best pacifiers made!! When we brought my daughter home from the hospital this was the only one that she would take cause of the size and shape. She is now 5 months old and still loves it the most compared to all the ones that she has. But we are going to switch her over to the 6 month one soon and it is bigger and she doesnt care for it as much so we will see how it goes. They are also a little hard to wash I always got water on the inside of them and then they started to looking scummy looking on the inside. But for the price these are great! They come in lots of different colors! Love them! Would recommend to any new mom looking for a great pacifier!...

mcginty-hemphill says "Best Invention EVER!" about The First Years Soothie Pacifier

I have to say that the Soothie pacifier is the only pacifier I will ever use. To begin with I had chosen a different pacifier for my baby to use, but when we tried it at the hospital the nipple was just too long for her tiny mouth and she gagged on it. Luckily the hospital provided a Soothie pacifier for us, and our daughter took it instantly! We quickly went to the hospital gift shop and bought about ten more of them (in case we lost a few!). These are the only pacifier that my daughter will take, and we even went out and bought two of the Soothie bottles. (We also use some bottle that take liners, but we usually end up washing and reusing the soothie bottles over and over again instead!) I will definitely continue using this pacifier and I'm going to recommend it to every mother I know!
...

ylilbit says "love this even though i'm a binky hater" about Gerber Nuk Pacifier

i'm big on the breastfeeding. no plastics near my kids, but my littlest is a cranky one when i need to go out of the house and get things done. i gave up and researched on the "binky" and was surprised at the rave reviews from other brestfeeding mothers. took a moment for my daughter to get used to it, but once she did she was happy. when she falls asleep it just naturally slips out of her mouth. there has been no problems with her breastfeeding after having the binky....
