We had never had to deal with a diaper rash until a very unfortunate experiment with a different diaper brand.

Our granddaughter had what looked like a third degree burn. It was just awful and I'm sure she would attest that it hurt as much as it looked. My daughter is very into natural things and shops at places where she pays triple because it is "organic" and so we didn't really want to "medicate" without her permission. My wife came back with this and we tried some on the baby. It was almost instant. She stopped squirming and seeing the good effects we decided to, of course, add more cream. We must have gobbed on at least a third of the tube and the child was in bliss (as were we by this time).

It also smells heavenly. Not at all like a chemical artificial smell but like something natural and delicious like vanilla or a pie in the oven. My daugher was thrilled we hadn't put "pharmaceuticals" on the child and everyone was happy.

sandry311 says "Pinxav has been in my family for years for good reason!!" about Pinxav (pronounced Pink Salve) Diaper Rash Cream

I remember my mom using Pinxav on my sister and I when we were little. It was in a little white bottle with a gold label and a black lid. She used it for EVERYTHING. Minor burns, scrapes, diaper rash, heat rash; whatever. She used it on herself, my dad, the kids. When I was pregnant with my first baby, she bought me my own tube of Pinxav, and I haven't looked back. I have 4 tubes of it scattered around my house, in case one gets misplaced or left at a relatives house. Upstairs, downstairs, both bathrooms. Oh, I forgot, the one in the diaper bag! That makes five! Pinxav is by far the BEST cream you could use for diaper rash. My daughter always seems to get diaper rash in the summer time, and I put on Pinxav once, and the rash is gone by the time I change her diaper again. She calls it her magic butt medicine. (She's now two.) I've had to use it on my son less frequently, and it still works great. If someone I know has just had a baby, that's one gift that's definitely included in their gift...
...

mjorsn says "Mediocre and pricy...there are better solutions out there " about A-D Original Diaper Rash Ointment

I am the parent of a very active two year old. My toddler is always running, jumping, bending, stooping, crawling, digging, and walking. He has neither the desire or attention span to be potty trained nor when he is playing does he indicate to me he wants his diaper changed. I must always perform checks. He used to tell me he was wet, etc. Now he just gets lost in playing. As such, especially in the summer, he is very prone to diaper rash. I have been told by my toddler's pediatrician that vaseline works just as well, or better, than creams or other ointments, but I have found this to not always be the case. I usually use generic diaper rash creams I buy at the dollar store or other stores.

However, I had a store coupon and manufacturer coupon for A-D Orginal Diaper Rash Ointment. I decided to buy it. I would not have ourchased it had it not been for the coupons because it is very expensive in my opinion. My son had a moderate diaper rash on one side of his backside and......

My son has had several diaper rashes over time and Boudreaux's Butt Paste has helped him a lot. It clears the rash up within a day. However, now that he's older and his feces is more acidic the rashes get real bad real fast to the point of bleeding. I think there needs to be a warning on the product that it is not to be put on a bleeding rash. I have experimented several times and when I put your product on my son when he has a bad rash he screams in severe pain. I have made him wait a minute or two to let the product take effect and he runs around holding his butt screaming and falling on the floor. As soon as I remove the product and apply something else his screams turn to whimpers and eventually subside. This product causes him very severe pain when he has a bad diaper rash. A label that says it is only meant for mild diaper rashes would probably be appropriate. This way people do not buy it and cause pain to their child. It should be a preventative cream, not...
...

Boudreaux's Butt Paste is a nice diaper rash cream for prevention and light to moderate diaper rashes. I have found that it does not work well for bad rashes. Other creams have cleared up rashes that this has not. The cream does have a nice sent and is not as thick and messy as some of your other creams are. It will wipe off of your hand much easier after you have applied the cream. I have also found that it does not stain as somwe of the other creams have. It is not a white cream and tends to blend in with your baby's skin. It also is lightly scented and does not smell medicated, which is nice. You baby does not smell like medican after it is applied. It is a little expensive for me for the quality. I feel a lot of it's hype is in it's name. There are a lot of other products tht do a better job for a much cheaper price. My son tends to get really bad rashes and the Butt Paste does not even phase the rash. I feel there is better stuff out there.

...

I have to admit that I laughed when I was given Boudreaux's Butt Paste for a baby shower present. What kind of name is butt paste? But it came from a trusted parent that swore by it and told me that it was the only thing to use on diaper rash, so I gave it a good try. Soon after my little girl was born we encountered our first minor diaper rash. I tried the butt paste and it went away by the next diaper changing...I was impressed. We gave it a much better work out when my little girl started teething. Everytime she was teething she had a horrible case of diarrea. As any parent knows this can be very hard on the bottom and so I used this butt paste heavily. There were a few days at daycare that they didn't use the butt paste as I had requested and my daughter came home with major diaper rash. I went right to the butt paste and slathered it on. It took a day and the diaper rash was gone. I was really impressed by this point. I have added the Boudreaux's Butt Paste as an essential......

My chilren are spread out in age. There is a 7 year differance. Therefore the products that many have been great with my first are not as good as resent ones.

I always used A nd D but the smell was a little much. My sons skin was so senitive. He would wake up in the moring red and rashy no matter what I did. As soon as he started on food the rash was worse. His doctor recommended the Triple Paste and yes it was very expensive. I could find it on sale sometime for about 13.00 put lets face it using it a few times a day one cotainer does last too long. It can add up. It is good. Thick and smooth. It stays on all night so it does protect and heal. It does do everything it claims to do however the cost may sway some to use another product. The good thing is sometimes you can find the small sample size at places like Babies r us and since a little dap will do ya you can use it maybe just before bedtime. This will help cut down on the cost.
...

The Burts Bees Baby Bee's Butt cream is wonderful. It is gentile which is so important for a babys tender skin. It also protects the baby from the wet and damp area that can make a rash even worse. Burts Bees Baby Butt Cream like most of thier products is natural and smells clean. It is a little thicker so it will not rub off. This is a must because the idea of it is to protect. Balmex seemed to rub off leaving little protection agiansts wettness.

The price is very resonable. The cost is about $7.00 a tube. Well worth the money to keep a little ones bottom rash free. It is now easily found at most drug stores and even Stop and Shop.
...

jfmom says "works as good as the strongest medicated stuff" about Weleda Calendula Baby Diaper Cream

Weleda calendula diaper cream is a lifesaving product for any mama. I have two children and I have used this product on both of them. I tried other "natural" creams but none of them worked as good as this one. If my one of my babies developed a rash, it would usually be gone with one application of this cream. One of my little guys has extremely sensitive skin and he had horrible excema as a baby.It seemed like even the tiniest irritation would make his poor skin flare up. This cream never bothered him and worked like a charm. Even though the kids are getting bigger I still keep the cream around for the occasional "butt sting" as my toddler calls it.;) It is more expensive than the typical diaper cream, but if you are at all conscious about the chemicals in normal baby products it is a small price to pay. Also, you only need a little bit of this cream and as I said I typically only needed one application to get rid of the rash...so in the end you may end up spending less.
...

Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment is the only diaper ointment we use. It's thick consistenence is what makes it so good. You put it on the little bottom and it doesn't budge until you wipe it off. That's important when you are trying to protect your baby's bottom from a rash. Most diaper ointments are actually just lotions and are light weight the diaper ends up wearing most of it not your child. We have a bucket full of other diaper creams that we tried once and didn't like. We prefer it so much that we stock up and always buy 2 when we buy so that we are never without Dr. Smith's Diaper Ointment.
...

Aquaphor is one of those products that you try and then wish you had tried it sooner. I first heard about it from my local multiples group for use on babies faces when they are drooling in order to prevent chin rash. The consistency is like petroleum jelly so it only takes a dab and works like a charm. I then saw on the package that it could be used for diaper rash and tried it for that. Wow! Talk about an overnight wonder. The redness was gone and the skin looked amazing. My trio recently had a stomach flu with diarrhea and it was Aquaphor to the rescue. One of the boys has really sensitive skin and he immediately developed two open sores due to the acidity of the diarrhea. I made sure to clean him well, let him dry completely and apply Aquaphor generously. It soothed the rash and acted as a barrier against future dirty diapers. He was looking and feeling great in no time. Another great feature is that you don't have a smelly white residue everywhere.
...

I know this product is for babies, but I just wanted to say that I found a great use for this product: I put it on the inside of my thighs that get chaffed after walking every day. I have been walking 2-4 miles per day, in my quest for better health. The downside was that my thighs were getting a rash from rubbing together. I put this on at night, and it's gone the next day! Great for the whole family. Lightweight cream, slight herbal scent, all natural, very gentle

I have used this cream on my eldest since the day she was born. It works really good for when she has those rashes and I don't have to worry about what I am putting on her skin. Also my daughter has really sensitive skin and was getting really bad diaper rashes ALL the time. When we started using this product not only did the rash clear up quickly, it helped prevent future rashes. A little on the expensive side, but definately worth it!

I love that this is an herbal product and it works just as fast as balmex. It's cute packaging...
...

I just slather her little behind in Desitin and the diaper rash goes away usually overnight. I've tried several other brands, and will only buy Desitin from now on. I like both the original and the creamy versions, but prefer the creamy because it just seems to stay on my daughter's skin longer. Good scent, too, unlike some of those other brands that smell very medicinal.
...

Other members of my family, including adults, use Desitin when they have chafing on parts of their body. It may cost a little more than store brands but it is well worth the price you pay. We want the best for our children and grandchildren and Desitin is it. I recommend it to everyone.
...

So my daughter got a rash and I was panicked. I had a couple of choices available to me that were gifts from my baby shower and wasn't sure which to choose. I grabbed the Butt Paste because it caught my eye - probably more because of the funny name and the goofy looking kid on the front and the red font more than anything.

It was night time and I was about to go to bed so I lathered it on a bit thick. The next morning I went to change her diaper and I am not kidding, that rash was 80% gone. 100% by the end of the day. You don't question those type of results. This stuff works like a charm. The color may seem a bit off but it's, um, going on their BUTT! Doesn't really need to be a special color - just needs to work. It also seems a little thick and you may think you are putting too much...but that's fine. A large tub lasts me at least 3-4 months and we use every day. It doesn't stick to your hand anymore than any other ointment sticks to your hands and it washes off...
...

I have 4 kids and I've tried them all and I honestly have to say Triple Paste is the most effective diaper rash cream without a prescription. With my fourth baby I saw THEE worst rash I have ever seen. It was raw, raised, red... and the screams, ugh, it broke my heart. I took her to the dr for it and dr said just use vaseline and I had already tried 3 other creams. Triple Paste was the ONLY one that soothed the skin so she didn't cry when I put it on. I had to wash her bottom in the sink at each diaper change to avoid rubbing, pat dry, and air out before applying the cream. Now at the first sign of redness, this stuff instantly goes on. If your baby has really severe rash this is the stuff to try. If you don't see it at the baby section, ask at the pharmacy counter....

Katrena says "CVS Advanced Healing Ointment has soothed bottoms for less" about CVS Advanced Healing Ointment

I discovered after trying quite a few diaper rash ointments and creams that I liked how well Aquaphor worked but did not like the high price. When I saw CVS Advanced Healing Ointment that said to "compare to Active Ingredient of Aquaphor," I decided to give it a try.

What I like about CVS Advanced Healing Ointment:

heals dry, moist, cracked, red, and painful skin

starts working pretty quickly

lower price than Aquaphor

comes in large 14 ounce jar--I keep a jar near the diaper changing table at home and it lasts for a LONG time, depending on how much you need to use it

clear--does not tend to stain clothing and does not show if putting on areas that might be seen by others

very thick--can produce a barrier to keep moisture out

can be used for diaper rash and for lots of other irritated skin areas

package claims satisfaction guaranteed or your money back

What I don't like about CVS Advanced Healing Ointment:

still expensive to me

does not repair skin on contact

large jar is not handy for travel

cannot...

...

lilsquibb says "A Squeaky Clean Bum with Method Baby Squeaky Green Diaper Cream" about Method Baby Squeaky Green Diaper Cream

I have to thank a good friend for turning me on to Method Baby Squeaky Green Diaper Cream right at a time when we really needed it. When I heard how well Method Baby Diaper Cream works, right at the time my little Squirt had one of the worst rashes I've ever seen, I made hubby go get it right away.
Smooth as a baby's...
Immediately I put Method Baby Diaper Cream to the test as my son's rear was to the blistered and bleeding stage. One of the main concerns at this stage is applying diaper creams, since well it just plain hurts and you could damage the skin. Most diaper creams spread on thick which has the potential for pain. As soon as I dispensed a bit of this cream on my finger I knew we wouldn't have any concerns about that. The texture is so smooth it's like spreading on a lotion, yet it coats very well. The next test though would be getting it on that sore bottom. It was almost like spreading whipped topping and seemed to almost instantly comfort that raw behind.

Red... Pink......
...
