AngelaWLaFon says "Carter's Just One Year Blanket: 2 sides, oh so soft & oh so warm" about Carter's Sweet Baby Blanket

Carter's Just One Year Baby Blankets

Baby blankets are just one of those baby items that are a most have all year round but they can be oh so sweet too.

Our prized baby blankets were hand made, whether crocheted, knitted or quilted but some of our most practical and enjoyed were either from Disney or from Carter's Just One Year. Carter's makes many styles of baby blankets but my favorite is the Carter's Just One Year 2 sided fleece blanket.

What does 2 sided fleece mean?

This Carter's Just One Year blanket has a soft, soft plush fleece on side and a warm, warm pile fleece on the other. One reminds you of a soft plush toy and the other reminds you of the fuzzy and warm fleece jackets by Patagonia.

Of course we want all blankets to be soft to baby's skin but this soft blanket feels great on the parent's or caregiver's arms too.

If I am just swaddling for comfort, I use the plush side next to baby but if I need to keep baby warm, I put the pile fleece inside. Either way, baby and I both...
...

I found this toy on clearance and thought it would make a great first birthday gift. I love that it comes with two different musical sounds that can be switched with a switch on the top. My son loves to go up to it and push the drum button and then proceed to bang the other instruments too and is a great toy to get kids standing up more and to look at the mirror too. The only thing is the microphone is a great rattle and prop the only thing is that my son didn't like it hanging on the stand so he would take it and bat it around (two toys in one). Also the songs are catchy and their is also a control button to lower the sound too.
...

I have this stroller in black and red. I love that it is so portable we take it everywhere. Love the fact that it has a nice basket on the bottom for items and two cup holders on the top and a removable tray on the bottom. Also what is nice is the cord on the back of the seat adjusts to let the child lay back when they nap or upright to sit up. The only concern is i can't get the red release button to work so i have been folding it from the two releases on the legs near the middle of the stroller.
...

As a new Mom all I wanted to do was breastfeed. I went to classes, read all the books and bought all the supplies I would need to do it "right". Unfortunately my son had others plans when he came into the world 1 week late and required a 10 day stay in the NICU. My breastfeeding was put on standby and luckily the nurses in the NICU were able to feed him Similac Isomil Soy Formula when I was unable to feed him in the NICU. This formula was amazing. They tried him on another type of formula first, but switched him to Soy because it is better for babies with fussiness and gas. My sons gas issues went away and he is now as happy as a clam getting my milk and Similas as a supplement. The only downside to the formula is that in my opinion is smells! The powdered for is not nearly as bad as the ready-made though. Be careful with getting it on clothing too, it can stain your babies clothes, bibs, burp clothes and toys very fast. I find that washing with cold water right away...
...

As a mother of two children, one two and one two weeks old, I know now nestle good start is not the right formula for babies with gas. Both of my sons had trouble with this formula from day one. I do not know what is different but enfamil gentle ease is a much better choice. As soon as i gave both my sons this formula the gas was gone almost instantaneously. I don't know if its the ingredients in nestle good start or what, but my sons have not had any fussiness or fussiness since the change in the formulas. They were both very healthy babies also. No reflux, no colic. Just lots of up all nights and upset stomachs on good-start that have now seemed to vanish into thin air. In my opinion Do Not buy this formula. You may get lucky and not have any problems, but is better to be safe than sorry. I hope this reviews helps any mothers that are not sure about what formula to start their baby on, and I am glad I could help.
...

The tiny love sweet island dream's mobile is a lifesavor for us! My baby absolutely loves it and is entertained by it for a very long time. My baby is the type of baby who wants to be held all day and is not content on her own generally - except with this mobile. When I have something very pressing that needs to get done and I must put her down, the mobile is often the only thing that works. She watches it, talks to it, sings to it, kicks her feet to it.... The colors are nice, the movements are interesting, the songs and sounds are soft and soothing, and it plays for a long time on its own without needing to be reset. The remote control is a nice feature but I don't use it much. The setup is easy. The fabric doesn't seem that durable though, so it is important to keep out of reach of the baby. The price is pretty high (as with other products from Tiny Love) but it has been worth it for us.
...

tzirif says "graco snugride is very practical and great value" about Graco SnugRide

I've been using the snugride for my five month old baby and have very happy with it. It is solid and sturdy and a very practical item to have. Having a seat that can be be transported from car to stroller to house is great, since babies fall asleep anywhere. The snugride is easy to attach to the base in the car or to the stroller frame (sold separately). I would recommend a dark color since they somehow get so dirty. Now that it is cold, the Bundle Me attaches well, adding to the convenience (not needing to put a snowsuit on the baby, since baby is transported in the seat covered with the bundle me). My baby was very happy sleeping it in the first few weeks, so when travelling or leaving her with babysitter, I did not have to bring along a crib or playyard. The negatives that I've found are - it is very heavy to carry (but probably would not be as safe if built lighter), and the fabric seems to make my baby very sweaty.
...

Mrs-April says "You only get sleep when your baby gets sleep." about Fisher Price Rain Forest Baby Swing

I tried everything to get my baby to sleep. I read a sleep book, and tried to follow a schedule. My little boy had the most difficult time when he was an infant taking his naps. This swing saved my life. I know that the books say not to get your babies used to sleeping in the car-seat or in swings, but that was the only time I got any sleep myself. This swing was very functional, it swings two different directions, has calming music, has a mobile of animals that was entertaining to my little boy, and it plugs into the wall for power. I have used multiple swings and this one was far superior to the others I used. Many swings do not have plug ins and you spend a small fortune using batteries. The only con I can think of with this swing is the fact that it is a little bulky, but I think all swings are and you can't really change that. This is the best swing out there and well worth the extra money you spend.
...

The bjorn carrier is an amazing carrier & saved me in so many ways. First of all this carrier is very easy to put on & get the baby hooked up. I tried the snuggly & it wasn't as easy to hook up and it wasn't as easy on my back. I had back trouble with my first two babies so this carrier was the best and did not trouble me at all. I also tried a sling which really hurt my back as it leaned to one side. All three of my children LOVED this carrier. I even used it when they were older. My second cried a lot and always wanted to be held for at least the first year, so this carrier made it possible for me to get things done around the house without killing my back. Everytime I put her in it she would stop crying. My youngest is the same way. I use it right now for him all the time. He could be upset, I put him in the bjorn and he immediately calms down and just loves it. I use it for shopping, cooking, cleaning, when I'm out with my two toddlers, and basically everywhere...
...

Both of my children suffered from acid reflux. After changing the formula and the bottle it resolved their problems. I tried many, many bottles on the market and this one was one of my favorites! It has the least amount of bubbles which causes the gas build-up in babies. My children's pediatrician recommended the Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Baby Bottle to me when my son was born and it's one we kept around for my daughter who was born 17 months later. They were also very picky with the nipples on the bottles and this one seemed to be their favorite. My only issue was that I had to buy new nipples pretty often but that probably had nothing to do with the product (Just the fact that they were used to their maximum) and that the tube was a little difficult to clean - they do provide you with a small bristle brush to get into the tube and clean it.... overall I'd recommend this product to friends and family that were in the market of buying and trying out new baby bottles.
...

I have young children and used formula with all three of them. Two of them could not drink the dairy based formula. I tried Good Start, Enfamil and other brands, but Similacs Isomil is what worked best for both of my babies that could not drink the dairy formula. The packaging is great for the larger containers. It has a place in the lid where it keeps the scoop so you don't have to dig around for it. The lid also opens like a trunk so less can spill out. I wish it was sold in larger quantities in more varieties of stores. It can be expensive, but I wait till it goes on sale for $19.99 and I stock up. I love the product, as I am so thankful to have an alternative for them since the dairy formula did not settle with them. It has a great new packaging, it is sold at most stores, runs on sale about every other week at one location or another, and in my opinion is the best option for babies out there that need a soy formula.
...

When my son was born I wasn't able to breastfeed so we started him on formula and has A LOT of issued with him spitting up and acid reflux. He'd get horrible pains and after trying many different formula's - the one we stuck with was the Similac Isomil (It's a soy-based formula) It almost completely fixed his acid reflux. Then when my daughter was born 17 months later - she started having the same issues. I switched back to the Similac Isomil and again - one happy baby. There were times I tried switching to something on sale or changing it up a bit but it was always a big mistake. They would immediately start having problems again.

It's a little more pricey than the other formulas because it's soy based.... but overall, it was an answer to our prayers. Similac is also great at sending you coupons in the mail and "formula checks" that can be used in addition to the manufacturer's coupons. A+ product!

I have used the medela breast pump for a year, and it has come in very handy. I take it to work and it looks like any other bag, so I don't get too many funny looks. It is very practical and I love the battery pack that came with it so I have also been able to pump in the car and when I went camping with my family. The instructions were very easy to follow for cleaning and maintainence. If I had to buy another one, which I won't because mine is still going strong, I would buy a medela. They make exceptional products and quality counts to me. I also like the catalog that came with it to reorder tubes, filters, bottles... I have changed my filters a couple of times and ordering was very simmple. Breastfeeding was very difficult for me and it was the most difficult part of having a baby for me. Needless to say I used the pump routinely for my first few months postpardum, and I don't know if I would have been able to breastfeed successfully without my pump. It was well worth...
...

This Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Fun with Musical Friends Table Toy was probably my best toy investment. I bought it when my husband and I were keeping my niece all the time. She couldn't get enough of it. Picking it over any toy we had for her. About a year and a half later my son was born so we pulled it out of the garage when he turned about 9 months old and again - he loved the music and the colors. He even learned his primary colors at a very young age because of this toy. My daughter was born 17 months later and we decided to buy a new "Laugh and Learn Toy Table" for her since the other had gotten so much use.

My children started using it as something to hold themselves up on (they started using it before they could even walk but once they got up they would play) Finally, my husband is bi-lingual (Spanish and English) - It's a GREAT way to teach them both languages as I cannot teach them Spanish.

I used my Eddie Bauer "B" is for Bear Wooden Highchair for my son (who is now almost 4) and my daughter (who is a little over 2) and it hardly looks used! It has a removeable/machine washable cover and I bought another Eddie Bauer cover to alternate (that matched the rest of my Eddie Bauer line I had when my son was born). It's easy to clean, very sturdy and durable and looks like a nice piece of furniture and not just a cheap highchair. It runs about $130.00 at Babies R Us and my opinion is that it is worth every penny.

Another positive feature is that it has a plastic cover under the tray (so if they tray comes off or if you take it off there is still a complete band around your child so they won't fall out!

The only negitive thing I can say about it is that the trays do stain (when feeding your child an orange or red baby food or meal... like carrots or spaghetti) I guess that's going to happen with anything in white plastic though. If you soak it in a bleach-water solution...
...

To think that a toy from my childhood is still around! I think that speaks volumes for the Radio Flyer brand, and about this model as a little child's first bike! As a gift for a first birthday, it allows the child to begin learning how to motor around the house in a different way. Once they get closer to two years old, watch out as they will be taking the bike everywhere! The bike itself was easy to assemble and is definitely durable enough to sustain a few falls (which really is just a slight tipping over of the bike!) The wheels make it easy for the child to maneuver around objects, and gives them the feeling of power when they have control behind the handlebars! A wonderful bargain for the amount of usage your child will get out of this toy, as they will use it until they are ready to graduate to a tricycle. Definitely not as large as some of the other plastic bikes out on the market, so it makes storage a breeze!
...

DizzyKiz says "Huggies Natural Fit Diapers to the Rescue" about Huggies Natural Fit Diapers

After changing many a stinky, explosive, disaster of a diaper on my 5 month old baby, I was thrilled to discover Huggies Natural Fit Diapers. My baby just advanced into size 2 diapers and I began this size with the Huggies Natural Fit. (I had previously used Pampers Swaddlers and Luvs, neither of which seemed to provide as great of coverage for my baby.)

I was able to use coupons that Huggies sent me through the mail and ones found in my weekly Sunday newspaper to purchase these diapers, and combining those coupons with an in-store sale made the diapers a relatively good price, roughly 16 cents a diaper. (I believe that when you register on the Huggies website you are automatically sent these money saving coupons about every 2-3 months. A huge bonus when you are using so many diapers each and every day!)

All in all, a great diaper for the price. Keeps my baby dry, contains my babies messes very well, and fit her little body well. I will stick with this brand as she grows....
...

DizzyKiz says "Fisher Price Little People..Fabulous!" about Fisher Price Little People

Fisher Price Little People sets are one of the best purchases parents can make for their toddler! My daughter recieved her first set, the Little People Farm for her first birthday. She was thrilled when she opened the package, she bent down and kissed it! She has loved Little People ever since. In the next few years her Little People entourage grew to include the "Zoo," the "Town," the "Parking Garage," the "School Bus," and the "Circus."

The Little People figurines and playsets are very durable, (have survived several kiddos now), and are a great springboard for children learning colors, animals, shapes, numbers, letters, etc. Most playsets include active elements, (such as doors to open and close), as well as sound elements, (based on certain buttons being pushed!)

Little People also has a line of "Lift-the-flap" books and DVD's which my children have enjoyed. They books are sturdy "board book" material, and feature the same characters as found in the Little People Playsets. ...
...

trishakasper says "Great pump for casual use" about Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump

This is a great pump although I would probably recommend a better one for serious pumpers. I used it for almost 6 months and it worked great, but my son quit breastfeeding and so I had to pump all his milk. My supply went down quite a bit since this pump isn't as powerful as other ones. I didn't want to spend the money for a more expensive one since I didn't know how long I would be doing it.

It was very easy to use and very easy to clean. Although I only used one pump at a time, you could use both pumps at once. I just wasn't very coordinated to do them both at the same time, plus I had 3 older children at the same time, so I was very busy and often had to do other things while pumping.

I think it could run off the battery although I never used a battery - just plugged into the wall.

It was fairly inexpensive, just over $100 which was about all we could afford at the time.
...
