Buyer Beware, Forrest River campers are poor quality with hefty price tag($40,000.00) We purchased large Cedar Creek fifth wheel in Nov of 2008 (mind you its a 2009 yr) brand new. Our first camping trip the camper flooded in underneath compartment, and fridge did not cool! We called nearest repair shop 2hrs from our home in sunny SC and was told "use a cooler" after purchasing aprx $200.00 in food. Needless to say our camper spent nearly two months in repair shop.Second trip the tv's all went blank. We hauled camper again to same repair shop where it stayed another month. "WOW we would love to be camping with our camper, this summer of 2009" third camping trip to Balmy Hilton Head,SC in August you guessed it no ac! Well our Forest River camper is back to the shop and my family still sits here at home Oct 7th wondering if maybe we can do another trip before it gets cold? Long story short I've owned my Cedar Creek nearly a year now and the warranty will be up, and we have only camped in...
...

We purchased a Heartland Bighorn new in Feb 2006. After every camping trip, whether 60 miles away or 600, immediately on arriving back home, we have had to take it back to the dealer for repairs of one sort or the other. First time, the expando supports for the electric lines in the slides broke off; then the oven failed - took 3 service calls to get that fixed; then the ventilator fan failed; next the waterlines froze at 29 degrees; then the cargo bay doors leaked; then the main slideout leaked travelling thru a rainstorm; then the main slide leaked sitting on the parking pad at home; then there was a recall on the refrigerator (not the fault of Heartland); and this last time, the dump valve on the blackwater tank failed. Replacing the dump valve is a major effort and labor charges alone are likely to be $800+ (it is still in the shop). Heartland has been spectacular in their refusal to consider any responsibility outside the 1 year warranty.
...

We have a 2004 Jayco class B van and love traveling in it. We also have a 2004 Featherlite 23 foot travel trailer. We would much rather just take the van and go. The back side couches lay into a queen size bed. We add a foam mattress and sleep like a baby. Our pets travel comfortably in the van. We actually stayed in it for a wedding for one week. We also put a porta-a-potty in it and are set to go. The class B van is a tough vehicle and can tow our trailer and utility trailer very easily.
...

Last summer we purchased a new Chevrolet Four Winds Chateau Sport Class C. We love every thing about this RV. We plan on using it alot this summer. Great design and handles great. Sleeps everyone comfortably. We replaced the mattress with a Tempurpedic short queen and it's great. I would suggest replacing the original mattress it's well worth it. We recently replaced the flat TV inside the cabinet with a LCD 26" Flat screen above the bunk for my son to play video games up in the mountains. I would highly recommend this RV to friends and family.
...

My husband & i purchased a 2007 Dutchmen lite 28FT. travel trailer in April 2007. we have been traveling through the u.s. for over 2 years off & on (mostly on) & have loved our trailer. we are pulling it with a gmc savanna van with a very large engine. because it is a lite trailer it has not been an issue with placing stress on the van. this trailer has a small living room, kitchen with refrigerator, stove top & oven, microwave & double sink, bathroom, shower (not in the bathroom) & a queen size bed. it has one slide out which gives us extra room in the living room & kitchen area.. we have a 32 in. flat screen tv, a 5 speaker surround sound system & a blu-ray dvd player. we love to travel in style. this is truly a home away from home. personally, we have had no major issues with the Dutchmen. the only thing that was needed was a fuse. this is a well made trailer that suits our needs. my husband, St. bernard dog & myself are...
...

After owing a used Coleman pop-up and having an unfortunate auto accident with it, we were in the market for a new pop-up.

We purchased a brand new 2008 Forest River Flagstaff 206 LTD. In the showroom, the trailer looked great and had more options that we really wanted, but the price was so low, we couldn't say no. Caution! You get what you pay for.

During the first week of camping, we noticed that the floors were very "spongy". We took the trailer back to the dealership and learned that Forest River does not put floor supports in their pop-ups. All that prevents you from going through the floor is thin plywood and linoleum. I was very stern with the dealership and they ended up welding some metal supports under the floor. It still isn't right.

Other quality issues include:

The door does not properly align

The automatic lift system quits working sporadically, leaving you stranded

The roadside assistance program from Forest River is USELESS

A walnut fell from a tree and actually...

...

From the first day we brought the camper to our seasonal site we had water leaks. Every holiday we had a water leak either from the hot water tank or a line a joint. Numerous repairs that ruined our camping experience. We had a constant propane leak from lines that were run under the tank against the metal brackets. We had a shower leak from behind the wall from a cut made at the factory that run over the furnace electric board. The grey water sewage line leaked into the storage compartment. We had no problem with Jayco paying for repairs but there were way too many.

Our awning was junkie had to rig it so it would stay up.

We liked the look of the Jayco but would never recommend one to anyone. We have since purchased a new one.

...

Jo says "A list of RVs: Which one is right for you? Part II" about Choosing a Recreational Vehicle: Pop Ups to Class A Motorhomes

In the last 21 years we have owned three recreational vehicles. The first one was an easy decision. The last two weren't quite as easy. Perhaps what I have learned over the years will help you. What will help is to give you a brief synopsis on each type of RV and the price range. Just by reading what kinds are out there and how much they cost might help you either eliminate one or put it on your "good possibility" list.

Some of this repeats Part I. I felt I had to repeat some information to both make this complete and in case you don't read Part 1.

1.	The Pop Up or Tent Trailer is the first one we bought. We had camped with tents for a summer but 4, 7 and 9 year olds it seemed too hard. This was before family style tents. Leaving my two young girls in a tent alone never felt right. We bought our Pop Up used and traveled with it for 6 years. We chose the Pop Up because it was the least expensive, easiest to pull trailer on the market and for the money had quite a bit of space.

A Hi-Low...
...

Jayco has ample storage for all of your RVing needs. This is a great family camper that can sleep 8-9+ if small children are included. Comes with a radio with surround speakers, that's a nice feature to have. The fabric choices are pleasant and not like older campers that go out of style. The counterspace is one of the best found in trailers and it's in the corner where you can stack clean dishes without fearing they will fall off of the counter.

This camper tows better than our pop up did. You barely know it's there while driving down the highway at 60 mph. We tow this with a 1/2 ton SUV. Great trailer for a great price!
...

For those of you interested in purchasing a Fleetwood RV:

For an RV that is nearly 10 years old, we are very pleased that the major appliances are still performing like new! So far, there has been no need for replacement OR repair of our Coleman air conditioner, our Dometic refrigerator, the water heater, the holding tanks, or the plumbing.

We have a Triton V10 engine with over 115,000 miles on it. It's a well-maintained engine, and with this many miles on it, remarkably It doesn't burn any oil! It's in excellent condition!

The only downfall is the exterior. It has dulled and yellowed here in the desert heat and in our travels over the years. This is more than likely our fault because we didn't put a protective coating on it when we first purchased it used several years ago.

I highly recommend the Fleetwood manufacturer in your consideration for your next RV!

...

In Jan. O7, we decided to trade up from our 2003 Coachman Mirada, 34' class A to a larger, newer Motorhome. After doing some research and on-the-lot browsing, we chose a Damon Intruder 383. This model featured three slides( dining/living super slide, bed silde and wardrobe slide. Overall performance and comfort of this class A rates a 8.5 out of 10. The only downside we have experienced, is the lack of quality control at the factory. It would appear that final cleanup and punch lists are lacking. For example: dozens of left over screws, bolts, wire, construction debris left under cabinets, slides, etc.

The Damon website is very informative and has many videos available for all phases of manufacture. There is alot of quality, found in much more expensive rv's, that Damon incorporates as standard features. Being a Ford fan, we went with the ford chassis and the triton v-10 motor package. No complaints. We just returned from a 10 day vacation through Ga,...
...

We traded in our Sun-Lite Travel Trailer after traveling for 91 days and then buying an SUV that would pull something heavier. We chose the 2006 Sunline Solaris T-2499 (The numbers equal the length so it’s almost 25 feet.)

I will get into the features which in combination with the length made us fall in love with the Sunline.

~The T-2499 is 25’ 10" long. That is the exterior length and when buying a trailer the number to which you should pay attention. That number is bumper to hitch.

~It is 8’ wide.

~The interior height is 6’ 6" high.

~The trailer weighs 4785 pounds.

After having a pop-up tent trailer while the kids were growing up, we were ready to buy a travel trailer. Our first one was the Sun-Lite 210-RDB. (RDB stands for rear double bed.)

Some background information:

One reason we chose the Sun-Lite was because we didn’t want to replace our Chevy S10 truck so the weight of the trailer was a major factor. The second factor was the layout.
