My husband went out one morning with out even saying anything and brought home a car. He said come outside and look at something. I did and I said its a little black car. He said come on drive it and I said I didn't want to. He kept on and on, so I drove it around the block. We got out and he said what did ya think. I said it's a very nice little black car and went in the house. He came in and stood behind me and kept saying well? I said well what he said let's go buy it. I said no, as I loved my old Cadillac. Well you know what happened. It still a very nice little black car.
...

krazd says "Excellent performance, Great Economy!!" about Ford Contour - 1999

We bought the Contour second hand from City of Richmond, VA thru eBAy with 16,300 miles on it in 2006. It has been an excellent car to date, super fuel economy on the road with a full payload and passengers! About 33 MPG! and that's averaging 70MPH. In the city isn't so great about 16.5MPG.

The BEST thing about this car is it runs on Compressed Natural Gas or gasoline and at $1.89 a gallon CNG being about a buck a gallon less then gasoline here in CA is a nice thing!

A little history on the Contour, it originated in Germany by Ford there called the Mondeo which I believe means "world" car. They were sold here for only six years but, are still being made and sold in Europe to this day. The station wagon was offered there but, not here or at least I have never seen one here. Fine cars with excellent handling for a family sedan. The only down side I have experienced is they are a bit noisy on the inside, could have used more noise insulation.
...

Dread09 says "Easy To Use Ipod Intergration & Harddrive Based Navigation" about Nissan 2.5 S - 2010

When the 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe showed up in our garage, we registered some disappointment as we first looked around the car. The cool coupe style suggested days spent straightening the curves along winding mountain roads, but the continuously variable automatic transmission and four-cylinder engine meant we would be testing the Altima Coupe more as simple transportation. In this estimation, we were somewhat wrong.

Nissan squeezes adequate power from the engine, but the real magic comes from the continuously variable transmission (CVT). This CVT does an excellent job of imitating a fixed-gear transmission, and at the same time wringing out very good fuel economy. Although not many people would shop for a car based on its CVT, this one is the best on the market today

Nissan also doesn't limit the cabin tech available in the Altima Coupe, making available its full hard-drive-based system with traffic reporting and onboard music storage. But our test car didn't come with that $1,780 option....
...

I am a Delhi-ite, India's capital city, which has more cars than those in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata put together. Needless to add, given India's population woes, travelling by car can be a nightmare-hence the Indian preponderance of small cars.

I checked out almost every brand of small car available before settling on the Hyundai i-10. I owned a 23-year old Fiat, which I was loth to sell, as I could drive freely in the city and hit anybody in my path with negligible damage to my solid car.

I looked for the following characteristics in the cars I checked out:

1. Size. This is a vital requirement in Delhi if you want to get anywhere. There were many cars in this size bracket.

2. Maneuverability. Very important as one had to weave through traffic in order to progress. Turn radius was also important as finding and inching into a parking slot was not easy.

3. Fuel Consumption. It is rare that one gets into top gear in Delhi traffic, in daytime. Fuel consumption in lower gears was thus an important...
...

This car is the best I've ever owned. I drive a stick and this car is soo smooth and fun to drive. The torque is pretty good and driving this car makes every day commuting and driving much more fun than in other cars. AND, the gas mileage is amazing! Even though it's an older car I've still gotten amazing mileage and most of my trips average out to about 32 mpg. I frequently drive around with other people or things in my car and the mileage doesn't suffer much with the added weight. It's small enough to fit into most small spots on the road for parking as well. The inside is spacious and three adults can fit comfortably in the back seat. I recently moved and was able to fit all of my possessions (sans furniture) into the car between the trunk and back seat. While I don't have kids, my friends have hooked their car seats into the back using the child seat hooks and the seats were very secure and safe. Best car ever!
...

This car runs like a angel and drives like the devil. Want to go fast so quick but still feel like your doing 30? Vroom this cars for you. Want something that looks like your worth millions but only cost you a couple of grands? The show the ladies your a high roller and so stylish they want know what to do. You look like something outta the movies and it is so roomie in there. It has a slap stick in case you like manual but it slips easily into automatic for us folks who don't like shifting. It handles like a dream wit 49/50 weight destributation. This car is so amazing with every feature possible. Some people think that it is not worth the money you spend but it is amazing to me. It has sucide doors with two seats in the back which isn't good cause with this car you are going be so popular your going have friends sitting on laps. The trunk space isn't much but lets be realistic look at the size of the car. All in all this was the first car I bought and though its really touchy it was worth...
...

EarningReviews says "Diesel is way smoother" about 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300 Diesel

The older Diesels are heavy cars, which means that you have a sturdy and solid ride. Built before the days of aluminum and plastic, the Diesels rumble beneath you, and the bumpers can absorb just about any mid-range impact without visible damage.

The Diesels drive like first class autos, with an oversized steering wheel and phenomenal cornering capabilities. The original brakes leave a little to be desired as compared to modern anti-lock systems.

The Diesels also get great gas mileage. My 1981 240 model gets over 30 mpg on the highway, which is great considering the size of the car.

On a down side, the Diesels take time to wake up in the morning. Older models will often take a minute or two to warm up before you can start them, and then they can often sputter for the first minute of driving. Don't worry that it's something wrong with the car -- it's just the way of the Diesel. Also, don't be alarmed by visible (and stinky) exhaust. You're driving a truck engine, and that's what Diesels...
...

bkovacs says "Expensive pads are no better than cheaper brands" about Hawk - High-Performance Street (HPS) brake pads

My brother raved about Hawk brake pads, so when my 1995 Subaru Legacy wagon needed pads a few years ago, I looked for a set of Hawk pads. I found them at The Tire Rack, one of my favorite online stores, at a cost of about $65. At the time (2005), a set of cheapie pads at any autoparts store cost around $30, so Hawk pads were at least twice as expensive. Still, I had dreams of high performance and low dust, so I paid the permium for Hawk HPS pads.

What they are

Hawk sells lots of different brake pads and the HPS is targeted at "spirited" street driving. Most of the rest of Hawk's line is meant for racing or combined street/racing applications. "HPS" stands for "High Performance Street," and the company promised strong braking and minimal dust. Since brake dust looks awful on my plastic wheel covers, I was in favor of low brake dust.

A set of Hawk HPS pads includes four pads -- enough for both front wheels on my car. The specific part number I bought was HB408F.665.

reneecummins says "My Ford Focus should be in a demolition derby." about Ford focus - 2008

I originally bought my 2008 Ford Focus because of high gas prices and I was driving over 100 miles a day for my work. I was also excited because it was the first time in my life I got to buy a new car. Of course, I had to have all the extras on it so I ordered leather seats, sun/moon roof, and spoiler. It is a four dour, sporty looking little car. I has great get up and go, is comfortable to sit in - even with four passengers, and handles the road very nice.

I did have a hard time getting used to the visibility in a small car as I had been driving a Ford Explorer with lots of windows. Because of this I backed into things a few times! Once it was a concrete wall! I hit that wall hard. I just cringed as I got out of the car to look for damage. Low and behold the only damage noticeable was paint marks from the wall. A couple of months later I was at a stop sign and the light turned green, I went, and the car in front of me did not! I managed to rear-end her. We pulled...
...

I love more than just the car, I love the price as well. It's extremely gas efficient and very reliable on long trips. I have a black cobalt and it's even been confused for a bmw because the color black is somewhat of a sophisticated classy color. For my first car I am proud to own my cobalt and plan in the future to buy another to have the upgraded features that the current cobalt I own does not carry. Overall I do recommend this car for gas effieciency and quality in comparison to the price of the car. I've had mine for four years and the only trouble I've had with it was maybe a total of two flat tires. Another feature I love is the roominess it has for passengers in the front and the back. The trunk surprisingly is huge for a small car. One could fit a regular sized cooler as well as luggage. There is also an access to the car from the inside of the trunk. Parents if you want to buy your teens a nice car with a good price definitely buy them a cobalt. Love it!!
...

My family has always been a saturn family. We have owned 6 (both parent currently own one, I own one and have previously owned three) so far and have driven them until they have literally fallen apart. After my recent accident I learned just how safe a saturn really was. After flipping the saturn twice, I should not have walked away for the accident with only a scratch on my foot. To look at the car was a terrifying sight. The front window cracked, the back window broke out completely and it looked like godzilla sat on the car and someone else had taken it between their hands and smooshed the front and back end together. The car took all the impact of the accident ad literally saved my life. Needless to say, after healing, the first vehicle I even looked into buying was another saturn. The crash ratings on the are amazing, they have great gas mileage, and are an over-all comfortable car to be in.
...

Wow, what a major disappointment. Let's start with the first problem I had with it. During a winter storm, I unlocked all 4 doors , got in, started the car up , turned the heat and defroster on and then got out of the car to clean the snow from the vehicle. When I went to get back in my car, the doors were locked. Yes....all 4 doors had locked. Now according to the manual, the door locks will automatically engage ONLY when the vehicle is in drive AND when the speedometer hits 15 miles per hour. It cost me $100 to get a locksmith to come out in the storm to open these doors. When I called Dodge to tell them this , they too verified that this was the only conditions that the locks would engage (without you doing it yourself of course) And no, they did not refund my locksmith costs! Another issue is with the brakes. I have changed the brakes on this car twice already. My mechanic told me it is because the way Dodge designed the brake system for this car. Another issue is how the car...
...

My Toyota Corolla has driven very well. It has 135,000 miles on it and I expect it will run for another 100,000 more. I only perform routine maintanance. It has been very reliable. Ahought, My Toyota Corolla was more than ten years old, but it had engines that went forever and very queit, no any noisy. i am sorry that the cars' body gave out too early due to rust from winter road salt. This baby has only got rust in cosmetic spots, nothing structural. it is very sefe for everyday use. The engine is in fantastic condition. The windows, radio, etc. all still work. The AC had to be re-jiggered only once. Although newer cars are safer, this one is not at all unsafe. It drives as well now as it did the day I bought it. It's gas mileage is pretty good, and functions as a wonderful vehicle for everyday use in the city or on the road. i think it is very handy and portable, so it is very fit for girls to have it.
...

I have a 1990 GMC Jimmy. I have owned it since it was new, and to be honest I havent taken very good care of it. I put oil in only when its bone dry, and I have not done a whole lot of preventive maintenance over the years. With that said--this vehicle is still running great! I have spent very little on repairs over the years, and I couldnt be happier with its performance. Its a v6, and its so-so on gas, but other than that-its a totally reliable vehicle. I havent done anything more major than an alternator change this whole time. This is truly a rugged vehicle, and I would recomend it for parents buying their kids a car-because the kids will have a tough time wearing it out. Plus, i have been in two major wrecks in it, and I walked away totally fine. So you can trust this vehicle to protect you and your loved ones. I have 200 thousand miles on it-and it wouldnt suprise me if it ran 200 thousand more! 1990 is a pretty old model-but if you find one out there for sale (or any older model)...
...

surveygal56 says "Zoom Zoom Zoom Rx8 Stalls/Restarts a Pain" about Mazda RX-8 - 2004

Exited about getting a good deal on a Used Rx8 I found myself enjoying the ride of my 2004 Mazda Rx8. I loved my Zoom Zoom Zoom for a few months and then I was frustrated with it because I was calling on Triple AAA to rescue me and get my wheels towed to the dealership. If you press on the gas instead of the clutch which seems logical, the rotary engine floods. And when you start the car and turn off the ignition without warming up the car to get the temperature gauge to read in the middle or at least a few lines up from cold position. You'll find you will stall and not restart. Often I had to take out my jumper cables and this got old fast especially when in a hurry. While gathering up my brochures to hand to the new owner I found a Mazda brochure which explained exactly how the car would react if you stepped on the gas, or did not allow it to warm up before turning it off. The dealership kept telling me it was acting the way it should and was normal. This did not seem...
...

jlp4ever0702 says "I wouldnt trade my Jetta for the world!" about Volkswagen Jetta - 2006

I bought my 2006 Volkswagon Jetta brand new, and it now has well over 100,000 miles on it, I do alot of traveling which is obvious from the milage. I am always comfortable even for long rides. I love my car from the first time I drove it. Volkswagon has hooked me in for life. I have two sons one in a booster and one in a infant seat and still room for a friend in the back seat. I love my heated seats and the large roomy trunk I fit more in my trunk then the mini van I had before it. One of the first things I liked about it was that it has changing lanes turn signals also so they only blink four times before turning themselves off no more forgetting to turn them off on the interstate. I also like the slap stick which I use in the snow all the time. It does have some down sides but the up sides deff over come them. Its hard to find after market parts and most things need to be bought from the dealer but its all well worth it. I wouldnt trade it for anything.
...

kiserkristi says "Prestone Windshield De-Icer works wonders" about Prestone - Windshield De-Icer

After many mornings of scraping ice in the freezing morning air, I decided to buy this de-icer spray to speed up the process in the mornings when I don't have much time. This de-icer spray works fast and melts even the thickest ice. I am extremely impressed by the quality of this product and the convenience that it gives me. If I am pressed for time in the mornings all I have to do is spray this on the windows/windshield with the defroster on in my car and depending on the thickness of the ice/snow I can wipe the windshield once and go within seconds/minutes. It has a dual action trigger that allows you to either spray a stream of fluid for thick ice and snow, or a spray setting that lightly mists a larger area for thin ice. The bottle is very easy to hold onto, even with thick gloves on. If I use this product in the morning, less ice sticks to my windows/windshield overnight, making it very easy to remove ice in the morning. They call it "refreeze protection" and it does just that.
...

JAPARKER says "The Honda CRV is a great vehicle for everyone!"" about Honda CRV - 2003

My family has had several Honda CRVs in the last 5 years. We love them for a variety of reasons.

Until recently, the CRV came in both automatic and standard transmissions. It was redesigned in 2007 and again in 2010 both externally and internally and since 2007 it only comes with automatic transmission.

The CRVs from 2003, offer a great drive with ease in turning. It has ease of loading with the back end being at a nice waist height for loading and unloading groceries, miscellaneous cargo and more.

The Honda CRV is a nice vehicle for people who don't want a large SUV or huge vehicle but still have the ability to carry oversize items....
