carolt says "convenient, tasty and portable" about Crystal Light - On The Go - Iced Tea

Crystal Lite has had a prominent place in my fridge for years. I figure that artificial sweetner is better than sugar for kids, although I wouldn't give this to young children, and we drink water, juice and milk as well. The on-the-go packs are very convenient, but make a far greater quantity than stated. If you use the whole pack in the volume of water suggested you get a cloyingly sweet drink. Add a bit, then taste. You can always add more. The raspberry is terrible for staining lips and face. We no longer buy it. The new tea combos are good....

carolt says "lower fat does not mean these are a diet food!" about Frito Lay - Sun Chips Garden Salsa Flavor Multigrain Snacks

Sun chips, it is true, have less fat than regular potato chips, but that does not mean you have free rein to chow down on an entire large bag. Even though it is more expensive, if you buy the snack-size bags, you get a good, salty snack, with not too bad a hit in the fat and calorie department. French onion was my favorite, until garden salsa came along. The cheddar flavour has that fake cheese powder taste that all cheddar snack objects have (eat real cheese if you want cheese flavour)....

carolt says "decent and consistent" about Ravenswood Vintners Blend Zinfandel ,

If you see Ravenswood on the menu, it is probably affordable, and you will get a decent, drinkable wine. For home use, however, spend the money and try something different - go for smaller wineries. Price isn't always the determining factor - we have found a delicious zin for $16. We're on our 4th case. We also found some great stuff for $39 and up. ...

carolt says "don't buy if you enjoy strong coffee" about Jura / Capresso CoffeeTEAM Therm #455 10-Cup Coffee Maker & Grinder

I bought this product last year after reading positive reviews. The grinding feature works well, as does the automatic flip to the brew setting. However, we have set the coffeemaker to brew 10 cups of strong coffee (both number of cups and strength are variables that can be adjusted) but we only put in 5 cups of water. Otherwise, you get an insipid, undrinkable brew. After having this for a few days I did find several reviews that warned of this problem. Had I read them first, I never would have purchased this machine....

carolt says "sweet, spicy, with a kick" about Southern Comfort

This is an old standard, which we recently updated by pairing it with apple cider. Delicious! Stay away from coke as a mix, and drink this over ice, or with cider, the grown-up way. As the alcohol content is 40%, treat this as any other hard liquor - don't be misled by the sweetness....
