cageguy says "Why did I ever leave my Canon behind?" about Hewlett Packard Photosmart 8250

My Canon died after 1000's of copies over a 5 year life span.

The HP Photosmart 8250 was highly rated, so I bought one. What a disappointment! The software regularly snarls everything up on my Compaq PC. My scanner has never been the same since it had to start sharing PC space with the 8250.

For no reason, the printer fails to recognize that it has paper. Equally frustrating, it often fails to recognize that it has all of its ink cartridges intact!

Did I mention how noisy it is? This thing shakes and creaks and scratches and screams everytime it cranks out a print.

Using this printer is just a crap shoot. Fortunately, at about the same time I bought it, my print demand decreased.

So...I'll limp along with this piece of printer garbage for another six months or so and then I'm going back to Canon.
...

The Cottage is a neighborhood landmark. The kitchen consistently produces great food at great prices. The dining crowd includes locals, families, business meals, and local politicians "cutting deals" with their constituents.

The home cooking pleases all who dine here.

...

cageguy says "If you can't find a Melita, don't buy a combo unit." about Cuisinart Grind and Brew - Thermal Coffee Maker

This is one of the worst purchases I've made in my 66 years. Grinder is too loud. No selection of grinds (ie: course, medium, fine). Too many parts to disassemble and put in the dishwasher after each use. Pause to pour feature allows coffee to continue to drip while you've removed the carafe. I had owned a Melita Grind & Brew for 10+ years and just thought maybe I should pick up a new machine. The name Cuisinart and a persuasive salesperson at Williams-Sonoma convinced me to buy this one. IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP! Don't buy a grind and brew if you can't buy a Melita....

I've been a policy holder for 25 years. Home and auto. Great company. Great agent. The few claims I've had have been handled promptly and fairly....

When I wanted to upgrade from dial-up to DSL, I went with these guys about 3 years ago. I've never looked back.

Comparing them to the cable companies, they have very few problems. When they do have the rare problem, it is quickly solved. If you call, you get through. They tell you what is going on.

The price, the service, the quality of their staff can't be beat.
...

cageguy says "They might be the best!" about T-Mobile

I've been with T-Mobile (and their predecessors) for about 15 years.

You can't beat their rates. Their staff, generally is well trained and attentive.

I just wish they would fill some of their "dead spots". When you stray too far from the interstate, in rural areas, you're SOL.

I'll probably never leave 'em.
...

cageguy says "Dish Network never looked better." about Comcast - Cable Company

After buying my area from Time Warner about one year ago, Comcast still can't get it right when it comes to customer service. I finally gave up trying to contact them to get an answer about a bill and just paid an overcharge of about $25.00. They had people in customer service that COULD NOT EXPLAIN my bill!

They're dancing in the aisles for next year's changeover to digital. They can see the $ $igns and they love price increases. I would not be surprised to see them add a fuel surcharge to my cable bill. That's just the way they think.

Dish Network, here I come.
...

cageguy says "Why, oh why, did I ever leave my Canon." about Hewlett Packard Photo printers

Somewhere, I read a positive review on the Photosmart 8250. Man, it was wrong. I am lucky to get 10 copies before the out of paper message pops up. I never let my printer run out of paper! Printing on anything, except standard copy paper, is a chore. My old Canon would print on anything. This is definitely my last HP. Trying to get an online answer to this service problem has proven impossible. HP just runs you through a series of FAQ's...never someone to directly anser your question.

The software continually causes me to have problems with my otherwise perfect Compaq FS7555 computer and XP.

And it shakes the desk when it goes through its long manintenace cycle.

Never, ever, again will I buy an HP
...
