boothjp says "Love to cook with these" about Revere Revere Convenience 9-Piece Stainless-Steel Cookware Set

I have been using many months and am very pleased I purchased. The bottoms are heavy enough to use on the smooth glass cook-tops without scorching. The steam/ pouring spouts are great! No more boil overs or losing whatever you are trying to drain down the sink. The lid on the largest pot is NOT a good fit for any of the skillets. I purchased both the 10 and 12" lids and additional 2qt pan. I have not used metal utensils except for serving from the pans. They did pass my usual test of all nonstick surfaces- a medium pressure scrapping of a metal cooking utensil across the surface. CAUTION- If you have a black glass cook-top, the bottoms will cause aluminum marks, but not after washed the first time. I made the mistake unpacking mine on top of my Jenn Aire black cook-top. I wouldn't change a thing, except that I do wish the open stock lids were available with the glass inserts also, as the open stock lids are not as heavy weight stainless. They are about like the traditional Revere sets.......

boothjp says "great juice, love the quality" about jack lalane Jack Lalanne's JLSS Power Juicer Deluxe Electric Juicer

I recieved this juicer for my birthday and after reading reviews I was a little worried.I was a little scared using it the first time. But after using it a couple of times I am completely happy. It's my first juicer and I never liked to eat fruit. But now I buy all these different fruits and try new juices. I can even convince my children to drink them. As long as you follow everything that is in the operating manual booklet there shouldn't be any problems. People wrote in the review that " Bananas gets stuck in machine. Well in the book it says "you can not juice Bananas". Cleaning this machine is easy too. You can put a plastic bag in plastic pulp collector that will make cleaning easier. I would recommend this Juicer. I read people complaint about carrots being stuck in Juicer. Well I just made some Carrot Orange Juice this morning and had no problems. I just added carrots with Orange together.
I'm happy with this Juicer. I wish I would have bought it long time ago.
...

boothjp says "great quality printer" about Hewlett Packard HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer

When I got married, my wife and I had seperate inkjet printers left over from college that were getting on in years, relatively slow, and required one of our laptops to be up and running to use. We do a decent amount of printing for grad school, and I have an older scanner that also requires a computer to be on to use. So we started looking for an all-in-one printer in a good price range with network capapbility and faster printing and copy times. Any laser printer is out of our price range, and so the HP Officejet 6310 has nicely fit our needs. The only thing it lacks is automatic duplex printing, but I have yet to see a network ready and duplex all-in-one inkjet machine. You can manually duplex print, so it is not a big deal for us, and it can also be hooked to to a single computer by USB if needed.

The biggest surprise for me was the quality on the draft print setting is very good, especially color printing. I can print color figures related to my school work and not have to refer back...
...

boothjp says "Good camera" about Olympus - FE-120 Digital Camera

This camera takes great photos. I had returned the camera because the XD-picture card would catch on something in the rear of the slot whenever I would insert or remove having errors and would not display. These errors ruined all the photos I had taken of the birth of our granddaughter which was very upsetting!! The catching caused scratches on the card. Customer Service checked it out and agreed something was wrong but I was only able to exchange for the same camera (Otherwise I would have chose another brand). I contacted Olympus before I returned it but never received a reponse back when asked if anyone else had this problem with inserting XD cards with this camera. No response so, returned it.
This second camera does okay. Still takes great photos but now seems to be catching as well AND sometimes the flash goes off similiar to when a lightbulb burns out suddenly...leaving a dark edge on the left edge of my photos! I will be returning this again as I am wondering if there is a "short"...
...

boothjp says "Very good detector" about Cobra - Cobra XRS 9740 Ultra Performance 12-Band Radar/Laser Detector

I have had many radar detectors since I have been driving and the Cobra XRS 9740 is very impressive. I actually purchased two for both my wife's car and my truck. The day I recieved it I plugged it up, turned it on, and was attempting to install it on my windshield when it said "Ka Band Detected". I was wondering what button I accidentally pushed when I noticed a sheriff's car coming down the main road outside of my subdivision. The distance on mine is outstanding and my wife has had the same results as me. Some people have said it is difficult to program, but I found that it was extremely easy. Also it comes with a short coiled cord but I ordered a long straight one (item #420030N001) for my truck. My next door neighbor liked my XRS 9740 so much that he ordered him one and he loves it too. I have seen some of these one star reviews and just have to laugh! Radar detectors do not always work, or they work too little too late. Some police cars you pass may not have the radar on so don't assume...
...

boothjp says "Great system" about Playstation 3 - 80GB

I had sat on the sidelines of the next gen video games up until a couple of weeks ago. I had tried Wii almost as soon as it came out and was captivated by the motion sensors but the limited availability and sameness to the games as well as limited graphics was frustrating.

Xbox 360 the $50 a year subscription and more importantly it lost the Blu-ray/HD battle were big no points for me. I enjoy games, my wife does not. She does enjoy movies and the internet. When I pointed out that PS3 was a Blu-ray player (with excellent reviews) and could let us surf the internet, she was all for it.

I have an 'old' HDTV (3 years old). It has a maximum resolution of 1080i and a DVI input but no HDMI. I did some research before buying this so I bought an HDMI to DVI cable at the same time. I was worried about hooking it up and getting it to look right and also getting sound. I should not have been. It took literally a few minutes. Plugged the HDMI end into the PS3 and the DVI end into the HDTV. Received...
...

boothjp says "Keeps the kid safe" about Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat

I bought this seat two weeks ago for my six-year-old and we both love it. She's pretty close to 40 pounds and was about to outgrow her current seat. I'd like her harnessed a little longer in one of our vehicles that has "backseat issues". I was thrilled when this seat came out. I really like Graco products and since this was more of a want than a need, I couldn't justify $300 for some of the other higher-weight-harnessing seats.
Putting it together was a little weird. It was difficult to pop the arm rests in. It's supposed to make a click, but it was a very quiet sound. They must be in right, though, because she puts her weight on them getting in and out and they haven't wiggled.
The strap adjuster took some time to get used to. It has a shield over the release so a child can't loosen the straps. But this also means you can't see it, so you have to feel around for it.
The cupholder is great. It actually holds a real bottle of water rather than just a sippy cup. Big kids use water bottles!...
...

boothjp says "Love the Norelco" about Norelco Philips Norelco SpeedXL 8240XL Men's Shaving System

The new Philips Norelco (formerly known as just Norelco) 8240 comes to you in a box with a window that allows the shaver to be seen within its clear plastic packaging. You will need a sharp pair of scissors and/or a Rambo-style Bowie knife to hack thru this hard plastic covering and remove the shaver. Use extreme caution when doing so. Once you've defeated the packaging, you will find the sleek, gunmetal gray shaver; a protective cap; a small cleaning brush; a curly AC power cord; English/Spanish instruction booklet and a basic black zippered nylon case.

The manual says you should plug the shaver in and let it charge for a full 12 hours before using it for the first time. The light on mine started blinking within the first hour, but I left it plugged in overnight anyway. When I tried the 8240 out the next morning, I was amazed at how quiet it is. My old Braun buzzes like a lawnmower, but this thing just whispers! The Norelco will supposedly go for up to 17 shaves before it needs recharging,...
...

boothjp says "Get what you pay for!" about Dyson DC25 Vacuum

I have wanted a Dyson ever since they first came out, but when I went to a store to look at them, it was so heavy I would need one for each level of my house and not enough closet space to store them.

This is under 12 pounds, fits easily in a closet, and is so light it's very easy to carry up stairs. I'll admit I'm not a fan of cleaning but being a female engineer I certainly appreciate well-designed products. This one has many clever features. The cleaning head is low-profile, so it easily hugs floor boards under kitchen cabinets (huge plus!). The ball design is incredibly inventive and so easy to use. It's like the difference hauling a suitcase around that has weels that go in only one direction vs. the new ones with pivot wheels - makes SO much sense and doesn't hurt my back to use it.

Cleaning power is great! It isn't especially labelled for pet hair cleanup, but does a great job. I cleaned once with my old vaccuum, then filled this Dyson up with a 2nd run through. I was amazed at how...
...

boothjp says "Best Garmin out there" about Garmin - Nuvi 360

Previous to this, I had the Nuvi 350, which is also an excellent device. Since the function is identical in nearly every regard to the 350, there is little point in covering the basics in much depth, but it's worth re-stating some of them. I will go into great detail on the Bluetooth functionality below.

This is such a handy device, and is so well executed, that you would be hard-pressed not to love it. The first thing I noticed about the Nuvi was its incredibly small size and weight. I could not believe how light it was. I literally expected it to have at least twice the heft when I went to pick it up the first time - it was like picking up a deck of cards, but lighter.

The antenna is a flap that is raised from the back, maybe about the size of a matchbook. When raised the Nuvi immediately starts locking in on satellites, when lowered, the unit knows you are through navigating for a while. Intuitive and effective.

Navigation on the Nuvi is very good, fast, and intuitive. It's no different...
...

boothjp says "great entry level gps" about TomTom - TomTom One Third Edition Auto Navigation System

I replaced a Magellan 4040 with this. The Magellan had text to speech - wide screen - blue tooth and AAA guides. Cost much more.

In my opinion the inexpensive Tom Tom beats the Magellan hands down, even without text to speech.

Text to speech is a great concept but seems to strain the processor to the point that it would sometimes forget to give you street names OR directions. Very bad. I had 2 Magellan's ( I thought first was defective and returned it ) and both would do this. I would much rather hear "turn right in 500 feet" than no instructions at all. Many times I was blocks past my turn before Magellan would announce it. Not good.

Both Magellan's got flaky on me as well. One would need an occasional reboot for a frozen screen, the other would occasionally tell me I had reached my destination when it was still miles away.

Tom Tom has been rock solid.

Tom Tom NEVER misses a turn voice command. They are quite detailed as well unlike Magellan. Magellan says "turn right at Blair Street"...
...
