bookluvr says "What a disappointment!" about Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer

Really...too bad I couldn't give it less than 1 star. It hurts to say this, because FF was my favorite comic growing up, but I hope they just give it up. The first movie was OK, fun. This one, which should have been incredible (they had Galactus & the Silver Surfer, for crying out loud!), was an absolute groaner. Don't want to write more; it's just painful to remember....

bookluvr says "Shiny!" about Firefly - The Complete Series

One of the best SF series ever, along with Battlestar Galactica (the new incarnation) & Star Trek (original & Next Generation). That being said, Firefly had something none of the others possessed...a genuine ability to tell a great story without relying on robots or aliens. No wonder it never found a niche...network TV had no idea what to do with it! It had a core cast of genuinely likeable characters who didn't always like (or trust) each other but who managed to come together to pursue a common goal. Loved Mal, Kaylee, Book & Jane. While River & Simon were fascinating, they were not my favorites. That honor would have to go to Wash & Zoe. Imagine, a happily married couple who really loved & respected each other! And again, represented on network TV! Who'da thunk it?...

bookluvr says "What if?" about Heroes

Heroes - Season 1 - darn near perfect. First half of Season 2 - not so much. Thankfully, rebounded halfway through the season & has restored my faith in Tim Kring's storytelling....

bookluvr says "Not love this movie? Inconceivable!" about The Princess Bride 1987

One of my all-time favorites! Pirates, giants, rodents of unusual size, and love...true love. What more could anyone ask? ...

bookluvr says "Gotta see this movie!" about Juno

Amazing movie...every character multi-dimensional. Juno herself is one of the best female characters in a long time. Script never feels contrived; relationships genuine; made me laugh & cry. What more can you ask for?...
