bigfreeb21 says "Portable and easy to use, great for the woodworking hobbyist." about Craftsman Model #21180 7 1/4 inch Miter Saw with Laser Trac

This saw, though big enough for the at-home hobbyist, is too small for any major miter jobs. Contractors and home-builders should look in the 10-inch range. However, it is the perfect saw for the amateur woodworker and home repair enthusiast. I have used it to install moulding throughout my house, cut 2x4's for my garage remodeling, and build several wood furniture pieces. The cuts are quick and accurate. — The Laser-trac system is good once you get to know it. At first, you have to check to see which side of the red laser-line the cut is going to be made on. Once you figure it out, it comes in handy. The only drawbacks I found were the rubber hold-downs and the dust collection system. You can attach the dust collection bag if you like, but you typically end up with sawdust flying through the air regardless. And the rubber piece they give you to hold the wood in place while it is being cut, does not always give a nice, firm hold, so be wary. — Other than that,...

bigfreeb21 says "A handyman's dream come true" about Craftsman 14.4V Cordless drill with LED light

This is the drill for home do-it-yourselfers. The keyless chuck and easy-to-use power settings make this drill so simple my five-year-old could handle it. The extra battery is nice if you can balance the use of the drill with the recharge time of the battery. I am an avid home DIY'er and have not found a project yet that this drill could not handle. However, I have been on the construction job-site as well and do not think that this drill should be the contractor's choice. It is fairly bulky, but the 14.4 Volt power that you get from it should make up for the extra weight while using it. The LED light feature is perfect for working in those dark areas like under sinks and in closets. The price of this drill makes it very cost-effective and a necessity for any...

bigfreeb21 says "Wears out early and often" about GE - 27958B Cordless telephone

In the age of cordless phones and digital answering machines, this one is a dud. The only good feature of this phone is that the buttons are easy to see and use. The features are difficult to figure out and have to be reset every time the phone resets itself, which it does often. The cordless part of the phone has a battery which will die if left off of its charger for more than an hour or two. I have replaced this battery five times over a two year period and get the same result with each battery. — For some reason, the phone will automatically reset itself whenever it feels like it and, when that happens, the outgoing message erases, the date and time reset, and the setup has to be rerun. I have had the phone repaired four times. Two times they could not figure out what was wrong with it and two times they replaced parts that did not change the operation of the phone. I have given up sending it in and now have plans of seeking a replacement. — The digital answering...

bigfreeb21 says "Perfect for recording home memories" about Sony - DSC-P93

This camera is perfect for recording family memories. It is not a camera you would want to purchase if you are looking to take pictures professionally. The video feature is excellent. The videos can uploaded to your computer and burned to a DVD or video CD. They can also be played on your television directly from the camera itself. You can get roughly 17 minutes of video recording time on the 256MB memory card. This memory card must be purchased separately as the camera comes only with a 32MB card which will not allow for very much video time but holds about 50 pictures, which can vary based on pixel size chosen. — The carrying case is sold separately, but comes in very handy. There are several features that allow for different shooting scenarios. Learning all the scenarios and features would take a 3 to 4 credit hour college course, but if you're impatient like I am, or not tech savvy, the camera can be used easily via quick setup. It runs on two AA batteries. The best thing...

bigfreeb21 says "A voice recorder that does what it says it can do." about Olympus - VN-4100PC Handheld Digital Voice Recorder

I am a professional journalist who is always interviewing people. Having a voice recorder is a definite necessity of my job. The VN-4100 is small enough to fit in your pocket, yet not so small that it is easy to lose. It has four different folders to be able categorize your recordings; a definite advantage for those amnesiacs like myself who have to record several things and can't always remember which interview was which. There is a feature that allows you to set record points, so that you can just jump right to those areas during the playback. This feature, however, is slightly difficult to master. Pausing the recording, on the other hand, leaves no sound marks or ticks that make the replay sound as though it were paused in that spot. As with most recorders, outside noise does interfere slightly with recording, but not enough that the recorded person can not be heard. — There are several great accessories available, such as the phone conversation recorder, the metal neck...
