basstacklegirl says "fun and quirky" about The Mentalist

Our family has come to really enjoy this show. This is a show that we enjoy watching with our kids... ages 6, 10, 14, and 17. Although they are investigating crimes the show does not show graphic violence or the gory aftermath of the violence. This is just a fun and cute show. We love the character development between the two lead actors. It is fun to see how the crimes are solved. This show reminds me of the quirkiness of Monk another show our family loves to watch. This is one show we have set on our DVR to record each episode!
...

basstacklegirl says "too graphic for kids..." about Criminal Minds

I began watching this show when it was first put on TV. I watched nearly all of Season One and thought it was a good show. I was excited for season two to arrive, but found after the few episodes I was turning the show off more and more. This show is not family friendly. The graphic nature of the violent acts, and usually the sexual nature of the acts made this a show I no longer felt was appropriate to be watched in a house with young kids. I love crime shows but sometimes I think the producers go a little over the top in trying to bring in the "gore and awe" factor. Definitely not a family oriented show....

basstacklegirl says "quickly became my favorite new show of the year" about Friday Night Lights, Season One

I couldn't get enough of Friday Night Lights! This is one of the best shows to hit TV in a very long time. I was disappointed when it was dropped, and excited when I found it continued this year on directv. You can find this show this season on channel 101 on directv only. What I love about this show is the "realness" of each character. I substitute teach and I can see "every teen" in this show. You could take any one of these kids and put them in any high school anywhere and they would fit in. This is not your Beverly Hills 90210 spoiled brat mentality that your average joe can only despise. These characters are full of life and real problems. Don't we all wish our own kids high school counselor would take such an interest in our childrens lives as Tammy Taylor. This season I see Tammy, now as high school principle, battling the same situations I see in every community and school I've ever lived in and associated with... education vs sports. Why is there always funding...
...

basstacklegirl says "best screen version of the book ever!" about Pride and Prejudice (Mini-Series)

I have watched several versions of Pride and Prejudice. This version is by far my favorite! This is the only version I would recommend to my firends and family! I have watched it several times. This is the only version I have loved so much I have purchased my own copy of it. I can watch it any time I am in the mood for the "best chick flick ever". Although the version with Kiera Knightly is shorter and may be a better option for those with short attention spans... this version of Pride and Prejudice is the only version I've seen that really does the book ample justice. A book fo the caliber just can't be reduced to a 2 hour film without losing a great deal of the real beauty of each character. This mini-series allows for greater character development of each character Jane Austen included in her book. I love the beautiful settings that were chosen and used in this version. The scenery and homes chosen really help "put you in the story". ...

basstacklegirl says "best book to read over and over and over..." about Pride and Prejudice

I read Pride and Prejudice for the first time in junior high school. I have reread the book several times and never tire of it. It is the perfect book for a cold snowy day, or a warm summer day. I can get lost in Jane Austens books and the world fades around me. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite of her books but I have read all her books and recommend any one of them....
