autumn-jones says "EXCELLENT prices; great food; what's not to like?" about Aldi Food Stores

I am so thankful for Aldi! There are a few things that are not so great (the boxed potatoes for instance), but for the most part, the quality for the price is great! Their meat, especially, is excellent quality for a low price. It has saved us SOOO much money on our grocery bill! I have also bought special purchases several times with no problems. And with my recent ban on Wal-Mart, it really helps us keep our grocery costs down. (I have also reviewed Wal-Mart if you are curious) — Tip: Aldi only stocks in the morning, so if you go in the AM they will have a MUCH better selection than if you go later in the day! — Tip: Also if you go in the AM, there are a lot more boxes you can box your stuff with. I usually go looking for a specific size box, that way I can use it to organize something specific in my house. The Gatorade boxes, for example, are nice and sturdy and work great for a lot of different supplies. I have one for household cleaners, one for...

autumn-jones says "Low prices, unethical practices. Always." about Wal-Mart Super Center - All Cities, USA

I used to shop Wal-Mart on an extremely frequently basis, but have decided to ultimately ban going there altogether. The more that I hear about their business practices and research it, the more that I just cannot support a company that makes such unethical choices. The way they treat their employees, both in the U.S. and abroad, is probably the main reason why I can no longer support it with a good conscience. I agree with the other reviewer that Wal-Mart's practices are so bad that the only explanation is that it is owned by the devil. (not really, but you know what I mean). I just don't see how a human being can do such blatantly unethical things and have no repercussions for it. There is no accountability here, and people flock to it by the millions, making for a PROFIT of $240 billion dollars a year, while the average employee makes $13,000 and has no health care (or has government health care). With profits like that, why should...

autumn-jones says "A real eye-opener" about Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price

My husband and I watched this film a couple of days ago and it was a real eye-opener. My husband's grandma works at Wal-Mart, so we always kind of new that they don't treat their employees very well, but we didn't know the extent of their unethical practices. We didn't know, for example, that 80% of crimes that happen at Wal-Mart happen in the parking lot and Wal-Mart knows that if they pay someone to patrol the lot they can bring this crime down to 0%. Yet they won't do it because they won't pay out the money. I did not know that the CEO of Wal-Mart makes $120 Million dollars a year (or maybe it was $27 million or something, just remember it was a ridiculous number in comparison) while the average employee makes $13,000 a year. I didn't know that the company makes $240 Billion dollars a year in profit and yet is not willing to spend some of that money to provide its employees with decent healthcare. I did not know that Wal-Mart actually encourages...

autumn-jones says "Love it better than my old brand" about Crofton Water Boiler/Hot Pot

We bought this hot pot after I destroyed our other brand by leaving it on the stove and then turning on the wrong burner. Oops! The next week, this Crofton model was a special purchase at Aldi so I picked one up. It is cheaper than the other brand (I got the other brand at Target, but don't remember what it is), and I like it better because it has a safety automatic shutoff whereas the other one didn't. This one boils great and has a filter to ensure quality water. All-in-all, a great purchase! —...

autumn-jones says "Works great!!--but no CD or DVD drives" about Dell Latitude D400 Laptop

My husband and I bought this off of e-bay refurbished. We are very happy with it--it works great! We didn't realize that it didn't come with a CD drive, but it is a 2nd computer so it was ok. We mostly wanted it so that we can have internet anywhere in the house. I probably wouldn't recommend it as a main computer because of the CD drive, but as a 2nd it's great. We got a great deal on it--$260 including shipping, so it was very worth it!...
