anothershopper says "Beautiful Peaceful City - Things to do even in the Winter Months" about Montreal, Quebec

We just came back from a short weekend trip (3 days) to Montreal. It's right in the middle of winter so it was quite cold and probably not as much to do as in the summer. But it was still surprisingly enjoyable. We flew there from NY even though in the summer we would probably opt to drive (although high gas prices doesn't make it necessarily a better alternative with only 2 people).
We went to the:
Archeological Museum $13 per adult & Canadian History
Notre Dame Cathedral $5 per adult
Walked through the various neighborhoods

Olympic Stadium and observation tower
+ Biodome => $25.50 per adult for both
Botanical Gardens & Insectarium -> $12 per adult with AAA & $13.50 no discount
Chalet at the Park ($2.50 for parking)

These are the off-season prices for 2008.

We stayed at the Hilton Bonaventure in downtown which was really a lot nicer than I expected it to be. It was actually what I considered a 4 star hotel. I have stayed at other Hiltons (and not the Garden Inn or other offshoots, but a regular...
...

anothershopper says "Simple, Quick, Cheap - CVS is the place- No Shipping Costs" about Photobook - CVS Kodak

If you're like me, you'll want to know how all the different vendors for photobooks compare. I had read some reviews on the CVS book and I was excited by the prospect of not having to pay for shipping and it was a reasonable price at 12.99 for the 6 x 8, the 8 X 11 was more expensive. I had read some raving reviews on it. However, when I got into the store to see a sample, I discovered it was not what I was looking for. The quality of the prints on each page does look better than Snapfish (one of the lower end books) whose 8 X 11 book costs $19.99 base + 6.99 regular shipping (often there are some discount coupon codes available to lower it a little). But definitely not better than Shutterfly, whose book costs $29.99. But it doesn't really look like a professional book in my opinion. The covers are some sort of leather bound and has a window, but the pages (it cannot be printed front to back) are printed on Kodak photopaper just like a regular 4x6 print. And then all these pages are just......

anothershopper says "Highly Recommended, Great Service, Food & Fun" about Celebrity Cruises - Summit

I put this somewhere else - but I thought it's more fitting here in this category:

What can I say, in summer of 2007, we took a Celebrity cruise aboard the Summit that went from Seward, Alaska southbound to Vancouer, British Columbia. I absolutely loved it. I was not looking forward to it prior to going because of various reasons, including the possibilty of getting seasick. But from the start, our luggage had no problems making it to our room. Our room was on the penthouse deck (which is the 3rd deck down with rooms), so we were able to check-in in a special line. The ship was very well kept, the wait staff for the dining was great, the waiter for a dinner was great, and the room staff was great.

We did have a balcony in our room so it gave us another option to enjoy the scenery while at sea without having to leave our room. The ship sightsee'd Hubber Glacier the first day (the weather was not great there) but we were allowed to go to the front of the ship where the helipad was to view it....
...

anothershopper says "Photo Books - Good value, low price but you get what you pay for" about Snapfish

I have been into making photo/memory books for our vacations etc and have done a lot of research into the different sites and the books & prices that they offer. One such site was Snapfish.com. I think the biggest surprise for me with my Snapfish order was just how fast it was shipped to me. I ordered it one a Monday evening and I received on Wednesday afternoon (the same week). I was not expecting to receive it so quickly, so I was very pleasantly surprised. I created a classic photobook with the standard 20 pages. It was $19.99 + shipping for the Linen cover. This is definitely lower in price than other sites like Shutterfly & Kodak Easyshare or MyPublisher which was $29.99 for a 20 page book (although their covers are nicer). While price & speed are good pros, I was mainly interested in the templates they offered & the actual quality of the printing. I was surprised in their selection of templates (the placement of photos per page). They had a lot more interesting layouts then I thought......

anothershopper says "Easy to use, quick and portable" about Hewlett Packard Photo Printers

This is the first HP photo printer that I own, it's very portable because it's very small in comparison to the epson photo printers that I used to own, namely the 820. I can take this to my parents for the holidays and print instantly so that they can get a copy. The ink is decently priced and the photo paper we were able to get while on sale. It comes out to about $0.20 a print and while it's not necessarily cheaper per print than going to an online vendor such as snapfish but it's nice to be able to just print a few photos when I need them. It offers more flexiblity. I like how the head does not get clogged all the time so that I have to waste a lot of ink trying to unclog it. I think the quality of the prints is very good. I have only used HP high quality glossy paper. The printer was very affordable and easy to learn how to use (stick in the memory card, select the photo, and print). I would highly recommend this small photo printers to any casual user who's looking for something small......
