alicat8 says "Life is a funny cop show we both like!" about Life - TV Show

Life, the NBC TV show, not the concept, is all about a funny quirky cop named Charlie and his partner. It's called Life because Charlie was framed and sent to prison for life, he was later exonerated and let go only to rejoin the police force. In prison he does a lot of soul searching and came out a very Zen man. Besides solving crimes he is still looking for the people that set him up.

His sidekick is a friend from jail that manages his money, he got rich from a settlement after being released from jail. They make a funny team.

This show has the cop thing going for the guys and the humor thing for the gals, a fun show for couples! Thumbs up, and I'm glad it's back for season two!...

alicat8 says "My Toyota Echo gets 40 mpg!!!!" about Toyota Echo - 2002

In 2004 I thought I should replace my scary old truck with a newer smaller car, I was a life long Ford owner but thought I should check out my options. I called the ford dealer and asked about the focus, a small car that was said to get good mileage. The man on the phone wouldn't give me a number so I went to the Toyota dealer to look at some used cars. I found this cute little thing called an Echo and I loved it! I have have VERY few problems with it in the past 4 years and I'm still glad I bought it. It handles great in the snow because it has front wheel drive and it's great in the summer because the A/C Rocks. The tires are small but I've only popped one and once I needed some break work but that really is about it. Oh, and did I mention that it gets between 35 and 40 miles per gallon?!?
Toyota Echo gets two thumbs up from me in this economy!...

alicat8 says "YEA! Bones is back!" about Bones

I'm so glad that Bones is back for season four!

This is a smart, funny, well written show on Fox. It's about a group of scientists that work at the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington D.C. They use forensics to solve crimes. The main character is Temperance Brennan (aka Bones) she is an expert in, well, bones. Her FBI sidekick (Booth) is also her sometimes love interest, a common theme I know but they have a fun dynamic. This season seems to be featuring a revolving intern character, a new one each week with their own set of quirks. Another fun character is Dr. Sweets, he is Brennan & Booth's counselor and he provides the physiological expertise needed to solve cases.

This show can get a little yucky at times, after all they are investigating murders, but I still like to watch it. Two thumbs up!
...

If you haven't yet watched Pushing Daisies you really should. This is a really beautiful show with a very unusual plot. The main character Ned can touch a dead thing and bring it back to life but if he touches it again it will be dead forever. His girlfriend, Chuck, is one of the people he can never touch again or she will die, this is a fun twist.

The sets are beautiful, the show is full of color and visually it is very appealing.

Everyone I've recommended this show to has loved it! Give Pushing Daisies a try.

Oh, I forgot to say it's on ABC Wed. night at 8:00 pm....

I like Old Navy but the closest one is about 30 miles from my house. I wanted to buy some comfortable lounge wear for my mom and decided to look on-line at Old Navy. I found four things that I wanted to get for her and added each to my basket. I was ready to check out and was told that two of the items were unavailable. Well, I went ahead and ordered the two things that were available. I had the clothes sent to her house and then waited and waited and waited. About five days after I ordered I received an email that said they had shipped and it was about two weeks before my mom actually got her clothes.

The clothes are cute, the prices are great but the order processing and shipping took forever! If I'm going to order for Christmas, I'd better do it now.
...

The Braun Universal Gold Screen Coffee Filter is a great reusable cone style coffee filter. It's great, you use it just like a paper filter only when you're done you just dump out the coffee grounds and give it a quick rinse. These things last forever!

Ok, the down side for me is that my Bunn coffee maker uses the basket filters. When the electricity goes out we use the Malita with this filter and it makes wonderful coffee. I like the fact that we will never have to replace it. Go Green with Gold!

Two thumbs up!!
...

alicat8 says "I love how safe the oxo can opener is!" about Oxo Good Grips Can Opener

I received this can opener as a gift two Christmas' ago and have been loving it ever since. It opens cans in a way that the top just pops off leaving NO sharp edges to cut yourself on!!!! The grip is very comfortable and the can opener is very easy to use. I have had a hard time in the past with can openers being hard to use either because of the amount of pressure it takes to clamp it tight or how much pressure it takes to turn the turnkey. This requires very little strength to use and it is very easy to keep clean!

My husband would NOT use this can opener for many months. He would tell me that he didn't know how to use it and would grab the nasty old opener that would leave a dangerous ragged edge. So, one day I caught him going for the old opener and stopped him. "Use the new one" I told him. "I don't know how" he said. I showed him and now he uses it all the time, I'm so glad. I don't even like to throw the ragged cans into the recycle bin because someone could......

I like this measuring cups angled feature, I can read the measurement from the side or the top. I don't like that it's plastic and it is showing some wear, I've had it a couple of years now. The handle is very comfortable, something I like about all the Oxo products.

I like this one, but I know it won't last forever like my Pyrex measuring cup!
...

How I met your mother is a truly funny show! The concept is a good one, a man is telling his kids the story of how he first met their mother and every week the story unfolds a bit more. Every season you learn a bit more and try to guess who it will be and every season they throw you for a loop. Will we ever find out who she is and how they met? I'll keep watching to find out, you should too....

You all know this measuring cup, you've seen it a thousand time in countless households. It's big and glass and clear with red printing, it's the measuring cup. I have been using my measuring cup for over ten years I think I paid about $3 for it at the time and have never had a problem with it. I am able to scoop large amounts of hot liquids with it while canning, but I can also freeze things in it. I'm a bit clumsy at times and have broken or cracked many dishes in my time, I know for a fact that I have dropped this Pyrex measuring cup more than once, yet, I have never broken it. That's quality glass from the glass company, Pyrex!...

I really do love my swiffer sweeper! In the past I have relied on a broom and dust pan, they get all the big stuff but they don't leave the floors really clean. With my Swiffer I can clean the kitchen floor in no time, and it's thin enough to get under the furniture and appliances that a broom just won't reach! I like that all I need to do is replace the sheet every now and again. I'm not sure what I did before Swiffer and I can't wait to try the duster!

Two big green thumbs up!!!!
...

Sacred Earth Botanicals Organic lip balm goes on smoothly and has a nice mild flavor but did not noticeably soften my lips. I usually go for a minty flavor in a lip balm but I was given a tube of this in Key Lime flavor so I had to try it. I guess it works, my lips feel fine but not super smooth like some other lip balms. I'll stick to the Burt's Bees for now!...

I use Sensodyne toothpaste everyday, it cleans great and freshens my breath and it has a nice minty flavor. A while back the dental hygienist gave me a new product to try, also made by Sensody, called Pronamel. This toothpaste is meant to harden enamel, something I could use because I'm a coffee drinker. I thought I'd love it but I was wrong, it may be great for my teeth but I can't get past the bad flavor! When you first start to brush it tastes fine, a bit minty, but after about 10 seconds it becomes a totally different flavor almost chemical in nature. At this point all I want to do is spit it out but even then you get a very bad after taste for a while. I'm sorry to say this is one sample that didn't get me to buy the product even though I'll still buy their other toothpastes....

If you're a Dawn French or French and Saunders fan you will love this show. Dawn is the main character but she has a strong supporting cast of youngsters that make this show an amazingly sweet and hilarious Brit-com!

Dawn plays Geraldine (Rev. Geraldine Granger) the new Vicar in a small town in England called Dibley. The towns folk are not ready to accept a female Vicar, but with her spunk and charm she eventually wins some of them over. Every show ends with a quick joke, I like that part!

One of my favorite characters is Alice Tinker (played by Emma Chambers, a VERY funny woman!) the sweet, virginal, simple minded "friend" of the Vicar's. She has some of the best lines in the show. If you get into this show be sure to keep watching every episode until you see her wedding, I've never seen anything like it before or since.

David Horton, played by Gary Waldhorn, is Geraldine's antagonist but his son (Hugo) soon turns into a big fan of the new Vicar. This adds an interesting emotional......
