alaskanvet says "Maine Product That Works" about Tom's of Maine Natural Mouthwash, Spearmint

The line of Products is natural and is from the old school where most things can be made without harsh new chemicals. I will say if you want the traditional tingle or harsh flavor that tastes like a bite of candy you will be in for a huge surprise. This product is not full of alcohol or sugar so the flavors are more tame and more natural. — The first time people try this they will most likely not like it. It is not the name brand type of mouthwash. I found it far better tasting then the homemade stuff grand mother made. I suggest new users give a few days with use before casting judgement and doubt. — I like to suggest to users the product is alot like Moxie- It has an taste you might not like at first but after a few time you will enjoy it and its benefits. —...

alaskanvet says "Avoid the Cold " about Rubbermaid Hip Hugger Laundry Basket

I have a wife and seven sons at home so you can comprehend the amount of laundry. Not to mention they all play sports and are the typical boys who come in with dirt and grease with an occassional worm or frog in the pockets. — This basket makes it easier to carry and open doors with one hand. The basket is slightly heavier but also decent quality for larger loads. I did find they are not cold resistant and when left in extreme cold become very brittle compared to other baskets and the plastic cracks easily. I know it is not the normal thing to do is leaving the basket outside in the cold but we also attempt to use winter sunshine to dry items and at times leave the basket out. —...

alaskanvet says "Mixed Review=Depends on Location" about Enterprise Rent-A-Car

I have had two experiences with Enterprise and they were mixed based on the locations. — First location was in Bangor Maine and the service was super. I needed an auto for a replacement on insurance and was lacking funds as I was just starting a new job that week. I had called 5 minutes before closing and was told not a problem and come in and "we will take care of everything". This was a very cold winter day and I arrived to find a warm car, ice and snow cleared off. I entered the office which had been closed for 35 minutes and offered a fresh cup of coffee and donuts. The individual had already contacted the insurance company and had my paperwork ready. The associate was not rushed and I still was in and out within 15 minutes. — Second location also in Bangor Maine, I was to rent a car for vacation to Florida. I had used the online site to find an auto and got the rates and with a quote. The auto was varified to be available and I printed the quote and got the children...

alaskanvet says "Practical but bias" about Dave Ramsey

Dave Ramsey is a very qualified money manager who has blended his faith and money budgeting into an inspiring radio talk show. He gives live performances where his method of debt reduction and financial management is taught to people on a level that is easy to comprehend. — Dave Ramsey is very honest about his faith and does not hide behind a false mask. He also is very clear about his dislike of credit and suggestion of not borrowing on creditcards and getting into debt. Home ownership is an "investment" and he makes the clear difference between a mortgage and unsecured credit. — He preaches frugal living and living within means. Savings for a rainy day and giving 10% to your faith (church). His methods are solid but need full dedication of teh family. Some may not agree with his family structure and gender roles. He is also against legal bankruptcy because of his faith and is against credit reduction firms but gives reasons for it that are logical. — He is bias...

alaskanvet says "Better compare rates-" about USAA Banking and Insurance

USAA is an excellent overall insurer. The company has online and telephone service and easy handles people in the US Military and authorized members. I found the rates for home-renters-auto-life all very well priced at the lower end of the scale. House claims however are very easy to file but they shift the burden to the claimer. Police reports, estimates, and even proof of ownership is asked when making a claim. It is often hard to show a picture or come up with a receipt from a past purchase after a fire, flood, or if it was stolen. USAA should warn new insurers of this requirement. I was very unhappy with home owners insurance. — The auto insurance was however very quick to reply to any claim with follow calls. The rates however are low unless they see a claim or credit risk and instead of slowly raising the rates, they jump the rates drasticly to force you to another company or pay astronomical prices. I found GEICO for example 483 dollars cheaper and AIG 231 cheaper on a...
