ahanks1 says "Lovely for your holiday table, yet stands up to dinner, everyday" about Corelle Callaway Pattern dinnerware

This pattern is lovely and can be used along with Christmas decorations, looking beautiful against festive green chargers, or for everyday dinners. Its green and white Ivy design is so simple, yet so pretty. I bought mine at Amazon.com and it all arrived well packaged and unchipped.

I've got a number of the serving pieces - and they make great wish list items - people always know what to get me for Christmas or birthdays. The serving pieces are ironstone, the plates, cups, saucers and bowls, etc. are Corelle corningware. Just about as unbreakable as you can buy!
...

ahanks1 says "Hospitality on the hoppingest, shoppingest, street in town" about The Palmer House Hilton - Chicago, IL

This is such a great hotel to get away from it all. They take excellent care of you. The amenities are pampering and many rooms have fireplaces and 2 baths. Everything in downtown Chicago is a short walk away. I woke up on Black Friday and went across the street for holiday shopping. No parking, no standing in lines. Christkindl market is a few blocks away, also. The restaurants are warm and old-fashioned, with terrific service. When it's time to check out - the loop to the airport is out the back door - no taxi necessary....

ahanks1 says "Ang Lee's latest is a dark beauty, painful but worth it." about Lust Caution

Wow. This film simply amazed my husband and me. It is in Shanghainese and Mandarin and subtitled in English. The story is so compelling we forgot that we were even reading the subtitles. The film is rich and smooth in cinematography, no shaky or jumbled scenes. Ang Lee has told the story of WWII Chinese resistance from both sides and made them both absolutely believable and sympathetic.

Ultimately, though, the movie is psychological drama and we are caught up in the web of passion and bold circumstances. Some scenes are very graphic portrayals of sex, but they are never gratuitous and absolutely necessary to the story. Without them the surprising ending of the film would make no sense.
...

ahanks1 says "Service and Quality like the 50's, with all the comforts of now." about Rudy's Pub - Cleveland, OH

This restaurant is small in size, but big on service. There's a delicious aroma as soon as you walk in the door. Greetings are hearty and sincere. Coffee is hot, strong, and they keep it coming. Our server was young and we could see that she was nervous, nevertheless, she got us each our dinners and took good care of us without being obtrusive.

The dinner entrees come with potato or vegetable and we had the choice of soup or salad. We both opted for the soup, which turned out to be a home made Manhattan clam chowder, with just a hint of spices that really upped the taste factor. My husband had a perfectly cooked sirloin, I had chicken piccata in a delicate lemony caper sauce. We traded bites back and forth throughout the meal, relaxing and enjoying our own conversation - NO cell phones.

Both dinners and coffees along with sales tax came to less than $35.
...
