VIOLET1956 says "Used to work very well" about Adderall XR ADHD/ADD Medication

I took Adderall XR for several months. It worked reasonably well for me but I have been having problems with my ADHD meds being less effective since menopause. I finally started taking something else. I do believe that if it wasn't for middle age, it would have been a great choice....

VIOLET1956 says "Wellbutrin can be a wonder drug for some" about Wellbutrin Bupropion Hydrochloride

I have been on various doses of Wellbutrin for years. The very first time I was prescribed this medication, I was on a very low dose. It made me motivated to better myself. I started getting up at 4:30 a.m. and doing 45 minutes on my treadmill. I did that every morning for three years and may have missed less than 5 times due to illness. It also gave me determination and the motivation to do better at my job. I can see why this drug is so helpful for so many people. Since I have gone through menopause, it has not worked as well for me but I would definitely not want to see what my life would be like without it.
...

VIOLET1956 says "Paxil makes you gain so much weight it's not worth it" about Paxil

I am a former user of Paxil. It did not do much for my depression but I gained weight just looking at food. My weight used to be one of the reasons I thought my depression was so bad. Gaining weight is a bad enough side effect for most people that I think it should be off 'the list' of choices from the start....

I tried Zoloft years ago and I have to say that it made me even more depressed than when I started. I felt as though I was taking a drug to cause depression....

VIOLET1956 says "Effexor has been a lifesaver but it only partially helps me" about Effexor XR

Effexor has been one of my main depression meds for several years. I have atypical major depression with ADHD and anxiety. My depression has been difficult to treat and while I do sometimes still border on the edge, I somehow manage to shake it off. I am also on Wellbutrin and Buspar. My ADHD meds are not working very well since I entered menopause and that is a major problem. I would love to try something else for my depression but I have heard that the Effexor is very difficult to come off of. Also, what if the next medication doesn't work? If that happens, there is no guarantee that the Effexor will work the second time. That happened to me with Prozac. I was warm and fuzzy but it was a constant warm and fuzzy regardless of what I was going through. I got off of that and started Zoloft which made me even more depressed. When I tried the Prozac again, it didn't work. I am still missing 'joy' in my life and feel as though I am far too passive with little energy and no enthusiasm......
