The way it was shipped in a box, and you opened and the mattress opened up. We looked at many foam mattresses, and this was the best price, and it is worth alot more than we paid. The cover is so easy to clean, and it is a breeze to make the bed. We used to have a water bed for years, but compared to this foam mattress, I will never buy anything else but a bed in a box. The quality is excellent. When my grandson comes to visit he loves playing on the bed. I have a toy poodle that will not sleep anywhere else but in our bed, he doesn't wake up all night. My husband used to snore, and no longer does that because he gets a good nights sleep on our mattress. <br/>I am already thinking about buying one for my grandson when he gets older so he can sleep as good as we do. The best part of owning this bed, of course was the little money spent to purchase. Other foam mattresses are way out of our price range for a king size bed.......
