TheNomad says "Never in my life again" about Black & Decker Grass Hog Cordless Weed Eater

This is one product that I can say I owned for the shortest period of time. It took about 24 hours to initially charge the batteries and after about trimming 300 feet of edges in my yard, it lost power. I immediatley dismantled the unit and throw the pieces in the box and went back to home depot to return it.

It sounds like a good idea, not to pull the electric cord behind you or struggle with mixing gas and oil and being exposed to a loud noise of a gas trimmer but once you use it, reality strikes. Now I have a corded electric trimmer and do not mind dragging the cord behind me.

Stay as far away from this product as you can....

TheNomad says "I wish I had not gotten rid of my gas mower" about Neuton CE 5.2 Battery-Powered Lawn Mower

I have exchanged my gas lawnmower of 3 years, under the subsidized purchase price for the neuton, in the scope of LA Basin AQMD program, earlier in 2007. Since then I am cursing the day of this decision. Yes it does not need gas and yes it starts easily and yes it is quieter but none of these qualities compensates for what I lost.

We have 3 dogs and they all use the back yard as their toilet. With my gas mower, I could easily mow down the grass with the excrements on it. With this one, I have to do the pooper-scooper patrol prior to lawnmowing, which adds another half hour to my weekly chores.

With my gas mower, I could manage the growth by mowing every two weeks. With the neuton, if I don't mow for a week, I pay the price dearly by spending more than twice the time the week after.

Grass catcher bin on this thing is very small. It does not have the self propelled motion so you have to push it and it ain't a light beast by any means. If you have to shell out the full price from your own budget,......

TheNomad says "Best TV Experience, period !" about DIRECTV

DirecTV is the best TV experience around. I have signoed on to this service as a pioneer in 1996, less than a year after the launch of their first satellite. After about a 3 years, I had to switch to inferior cable service due to conditions beyond my control and stayed on cable for about 3 years. Those wore the worst TV experience of my life. Then I gained back access to my DirecTV and happy since then. Their programming is the best around for the price you pay. Yes you can get cheaper packages from the competitors but neither signal quality nor the spectrum of channels to choose from, can come close to that DirecTV.

I am not a sport junkie but I love being a couch potato on sunday, doing nothing but watching football. NFL Sunday ticket is just what the doctor ordered. Especially wiht the RedZone channel, in HiDef no less, I am in hog haven. I am excited to have access to the newly added 70 or so HiDef channels next week, as I scheduled the free replacement installation for my new and improved......

TheNomad says "Best car you can have at the price" about Toyota Corolla - 2007

I have purchased this toyota corolla in September of 2006 at the dealer's special priced deals, you know the ones on the newspaper ads which say 1 or 2 at this price. Well mine was one of the two available at the price of $12,888 and costed me something like $14,100 out the door. In the past year, other than changing oil every 5-8 thousand miles and taking it in for a couple of regular maintenance services, this car costed me nothing other than gas. I did not have to take it in for any warranty covered defects or any other malfunction thatyou can think of. After putting 41,000 miles onto this vehicle in a little more than a year, it still gets 35 mpg in Los Angeles highyway traffic.

I can not say that I am impressed by the style or luxuries in this car (I have the CE model with automatic transmission, which is the rock bottom of the series) but again for the price I paid for a dependable commuter car, I can not complain....
