BarbaraLyn says "A Viking Tale" about Harry Hauca - Bone Tear: A Love Story

What comes in a plain white cover and keeps you wanting to read until the wee hours of the morning? BONE TEAR does.

This story is a tale written in the Viking era about a young princess, Bridget, and her destiny. She wants nothing more than to become a nun and spend her days in prayer. Her father has a very different idea and arranges her marriage to Vortimer. With the marriage comes the responsibility of land given to the newly weds by Bridget's father and the task of protecting the northern borders from a Viking invasion.

Vortimer and his men engage in a battle against the Vikings but lack the support promised by Bridget' father because the man put in charge of the men wants his own revenge.

Bridget's sister, Celestine, is wed to a drunken, old man who cannot give her a child. She uses her sister's naivety to spend time with her brother-in-law while Bridget races to a neighboring ruler for help against the invasion of the Vikings.

As with all good love stories, the end is a...
...

MikeMaroon says "Lost in, but never Rescue Me from These Shows I watch with Glee" about Best TV 2000-2009

Here we are at the end of another decade. Of course, I know you can carve any 10 year chunk of time out of the calendar and call it a decade and, well, it is. 1993- 2002 is a decade, BUT we mortals tend to think in multiples of 10 and so, for the purpose of categorising things, we think the beginning of all decades involve a number ending with a zero. Therefore, for most of us, Jan 1, 2010 will begin a new decade.

Now, any ole hack can pick the top 10 TV shows for a year, but this ole hack is gonna have the audacity to name the best (at least in my mind) TV shows I saw in the past 10 years. I KNOW! But, anyway I do understand that anyone making a list like this is gonna bring their preferences and biases into it and I'm not a huge sitcom or reality show fan, which is why you won't find much of that here. I must say, there was a LOT of quality TV out there and it was a tough choice, but I picked the shows that I just couldn't resist. You may or may not be surprised by some...
...

BarbaraLyn says "Diary and quilting patterns" about REMEMBERING ADELIA

Ms. Tracy couldn't make up her mind on whether to write a novel about the Civil War or write a book about quilting. While both are favorite subjects of mind, I was looking for a book about quilting.

18 of the 80 pages are devoted to the diary of Adelia Bennett. I love old diaries and reading about how life was during a certain time period but I would rather have had those 18 pages with quilt patterns.

The patterns are made of period fabric so they have an antique look. Of course, you could use any fabric and it would give it an updated look. The patterns are clearly written with graphics for those of us that like to have a visual help. The materials and cutting lists provide yardage and cut sizes needed.

Instructions on creating the blocks and assembling the top are provided. Some of the finishing is left up to you and some tell you how to quilt it.

There is a six page basic quilting section and a bio paragraph about the author at the back of the book.
...

BarbaraLyn says "A slow read" about THE GHOSTS OF LONE JACK

As Civil War Re-enactors, I was excited to see a book published for the "tween" about this period of history. Unfortunately, it was a slow and boring read. Even halfway into the book, it didn't get any better.

As a real Civil War battle was fought at Lone Jack Missouri, I had hoped the author would tie in a history lesson with the story. There was too much time spent on a cave and a field where the children saw the ghosts so the story never really developed.

Jared Millhouse and his dad are living with his grandfather. Jared doesn't really fit in with the children at first but after a chapter or so, he finds friends. The story goes on to describe Jared's grandfather's illness and how he plays chess at the country store. Jared goes along and gets into trouble with the other children by finding a cave with ghosts. An old man at the store tells Jared some of the story of the Civil War battle fought at Lone Jack but it was done in so many parts that even I lost track of the actual...
...

If you find something that works, when it comes to bake ware, stick with it! Case and point: The bakeware that I have, and use, is more than thirty-five years old. My parents received it as a wedding gift, among other things, back in the early '70s. After my dad died, several years ago, my mom decided to downsize on a lot of the things that they had. I was the one who got their wedding dishes, and their bake ware set. The bake ware set is not made of a flimsy metal that will break down after a few years of use, but a more steady, sturdy metal that is meant to with stand the test of time, and is meant to survive many years of multiple uses. The bake ware set does not have a non-stick surface to it, but I just spray a little non-stick grease on them and they work just fine. I have thought of replacing them over the years, but decided against it since there is really nothing wrong with them. As soon as I can locate the name (if at all possible) on the bake ware I will put it here for others...
...

peggyh says "loving this shampoo!" about Aussie Aussie Moist 2in1

Not only does this shampoo do what it says it does but it also leaves your hair smelling absolutely wonderful. I am particularly partial to the one that gives off a hint of orange while you are washing your hair, it makes you feel as though you are in an orange orchard. This product makes you feel as though you are pampering yourself with very little money. One bottle of this shampoo costs less than $4 (for a regular size bottle), it is less than $6 for the larger bottle that comes with a pump for your convenience. After the larger bottle (with the pump) is empty I buy a smaller bottle (or two) and refill the original bottle that way. It might not save much but it does save a little bit. Also, something that I get a kick out of, if you are feeling down, this product has a tendency to place a little pick me up, in the form of words, on the fronts of their products. Most of their sayings are quite amusing, and very truth filled. And their product is not tested on animals.
...

Unable to nurse either one of my children, their doctor recommended that we use Enfamil because it was very close to that of breast milk, and it is the product that every doctor that I know of has recommended to their patient to feed their little ones. It is easy on the infant's stomach and has very little chance of an infant having some type of reaction to. For my children they were able to put on weight and keep it on. About the only time that they ever lost weight was when they were either to tired to eat, or were sick and in a fowl mood. Please remember that this is not only what I was told, but this is also what I experienced with my own children. I never was able to find a down side to the Enfamil except for the fact that it was not inexpensive, but when it comes to feeding your child or children you will find a way of coming up with the money to get them what they need to keep them healthy and growing up correctly.
...

peggyh says "My husband's favourite razor." about Gillette Gillette Mach 3 Turbo

This Gillette Mach 3 Turbo Razor is possibly my husbands most favourite razor that he has ever used. I originally got it for him a few years ago as a Christmas present because he kept saying that he wished that he had a really good quality razor that he did not have to through out at any point. I got this for him in a bundle package, razor with three replaceable blades and shaving cream, for less than $12(with taxes). He found out that he did not have to replace the blades but once ever two, or three, months. All depending on how often he used the razor. The blade itself leaves a really close, and smooth, shave (which I enjoy). The razor handle itself maybe a bit on the thin side but my husband is able to get past that and enjoy shaving. Which he loves about as much as I do. The razors, and razor blades, do not have a drastic downside, the only thing that my husband and I could do without is the fact that the refills are not in the cheap side, but this razor is worth every penny!
...

peggyh says "Good, but not good enough." about Clearasil clearasil pad

This Clearasil Acne Treatment Pad does what it says to a point, but after that it seems to lose something somewhere.

When first using this product it does an excellent job at getting your face clean, and keeping it clean. It does an excellent job at giving your skin the deep clean that it may so desperately need. But for those of us who have sensitive skin that may be where the benifits stop. After this point the dryness of the skin begins, as does the the tighness of the skin, the redness, the itching and the burning of the skin. At least this is what I go through whenever I use this particular product. Now do not get me wrong I really do like this product, I just do not like the side effects that I have to suffer whenever I do use this product. I do still use this product, in fact I have it in my bathroom right now, I just am not able to use it the way that it is meant to be used two and three times daily. Eventhough I am not able to use the Clearasil Acne Treatment Pads three times daily...
...

I first started using this razor roughly four months ago, and I am quite satisfied with the results that I have had so far. When used properly you can avoid razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and cuts. What I mean by properly is do not use on dry skin, and use shaving cream every time.

For me this razor provides a very clean shave for both my legs and underarms. I do not have to shave every day like I use to do before. Thanks to this razor I ow only have to shave a maximum of four times a week, this is a bonus considering that I do not like this particular chore. This Venus razor has a wide razor head that swivels and contours itself to the shape of your body. It has a wide comfortable handle for an easy and comforting grip. The blades on this razor last a very long time, so this helps to save on money which everyone can use these days. The only thing that I have found, and I would not consider it wrong, is the fact that the razors are not cheap, neither are the refillable blades. But if you...
...

I don't remember the name of the previous microwave that I had, but it died and went to the appliance graveyard (the local recycling center) before I went to Jacksonville during the end of July. While there (in Jacksonville) we stayed in a very comfortable Best Western Hotel (which may become another review). Anyways they had these microwaves, and mini-fridges, in every room at no extra cost. After we got back home I went out and hunted down this particular Sunbeam microwave (shows you haw much I liked it) and found it for less than $50 brand new. Although you can not cook a turkey in it, or really anything larger than a hen, you can make pizzas, popcorn, reheat and dinner plates. It has several buttons, including a pizza button (which is my kid's favourite). It has buttons for things that are typically used everyday. And they are all pre-programmed for the owners convience. For me, it shows that one does not have to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars to get a really good microwave...
...

I could not begin to tell you how many toasters I have had over the last fifteen years, and the majority of them quit working within a years time. The toasters that I had previously were all basically the same; they had a knob to adjust the heat, and...well that was about it. All they were good for was making toast, and nothing more. You did not dare attempt to toast a bagel or an English muffin in these things because they were not made for that type of work. If a piece of bread was too small and/or got stuck you had to unplug it just to get the bread out. That is why I am partial to my Black & Decker toaster that I am using now. Not only does it have the knob for temperature control, it also has three seperate buttons; one for bagel, one for frozen, and one for cancel. You can toast just about everything, in this toaster, from a thin slice of bread, to a decent size bagel (when split in half) with virtually no problems. If something is to where you can not get to it safely, you can simply...
...

peggyh says "I love my Rival crock pot!" about Rival slow cooker crock pot

This is actually the second Rival crock pot that I have had in fifteen years of marriage. I love both of them greatly, as seen by the through workout that they receive during the cooler months of the year. With a crock pot you can easily throw everything in it before you go to work (or out for the day), and have it waiting for you when you get home later in the day. The Rival crock pot that I have is a fairly decent size and (depending on what you are serving) can serve up to ten people. My Rival crock pot, that I have currently, I received as a Christmas gift from my husband about seven years ago. He thought that I would not like it, but he was wrong.

My Rival crock pot has three settings (not including off); low, high, and warm. The low is what I use most of the time when I am not going to be serving what I have fixed for six to ten hours (makes a really great "fall apart" pot roast on this setting). The high setting is what I use when I need to serve a dish, or meal, in under five hours...
...

by Dwan W. Gibson reminds me of dudes I knew in high school who used to brag about all the women they had or everyone sitting around the big screen TV, watching some reality show and recounting their dating horror stories from Match.com. And that's just how it reads. Mr. Gibson opens his first and, so far only, book, a memoir with the statement "The girls have always been good to me, most of the time." He then recounts his first kiss, in the seventh grade. From there it's all about the women he loved and lost.

Sometimes humorous, sometimes serious and always to the point, Gibson fashions a breezy and at times raunchy narrative describing how he got hooked on "the fairer sex", and his pursuit of love, often in all the wrong places. He moves away from his home in Cleveland for the bright lights of California, mostly to satisfy his sense of adventure and desire to get away from the social restrictions of a black man living in the midwest.

A friend of mine at Viewpoints recently passed along a site called www.buyuggsboot.net. She found it online. www.buyuggsboot.net is a web site that sells all styles of Ugg Boots at discounted prices.

We werent certain if www.buyuggsboot.net were the real or not. But after a thorough review of the site, we thought it was legit. Buyuggsboot.net looks like a reasonable reseller of Ugg Boots. The page is designed well, the pictures look authentic and they make claim to having the real deal. They also consistently site throughout the web site having customer satisfaction commitments.

To add to the thought it was authentic, the pricing seemed good but not amazing. As you probably know a typical pair of Ugg Boots cost about $110. On Buyuggsboot.net the cost was $89.00- approximately a $20 savings. Seemed like a good deal, but they werent so cheap that I thought it could be scam. As an aside, last year Nordstrom had a similiar sale on Ugg boots so the pricing seemed...
...
